None of it had been Lazulith's idea. She was only following the order to fly given by her rider -- whom she would always obey, ages before the word of a bronze. Oh, really, Skelath was such a sensitive bit of fluff -- didn't he know the meaning of a little fun? Lu'reni was oblivious to any unrest; she was fast at work scooping handfuls of wet sand from the spot where Lazulith had dropped the mouthful of water. Lazulith was a bit more aware of Skelath's feelings, but she did not say anything. Sweet and kind-hearted as she was, she wasn't one to speak up, and could not even see the benefit is doing so. He'd only get more upset.

"Goodbye, Skelath!" Lu shouted after the dragon, no less pleasant than she was before. "Would you like to help fortify the walls, I'ver?" She didn't ask where the dragon was off to; she was busy with her sandweyr.

Lazulith shifted unevenly at the edge of the water, waiting for someone to tell her what else to do. Perhaps they would give her permission to swim? That would be quite lovely...

A pleasure to see you as well, Skelath, responded Dioth to Skelath as they finally dropped down onto the sand a few moments after the angry bronze returned from between. Be well.

Sheepishly, L'ior -- the last one to the party, this time -- slid down Dioth's shoulder in one fluid motion. "Well, and I'm here," said the bluerider, cheeks a little red as he strode toward the other riders, scratching at the side of his nose with one finger in a slightly nervous motion -- he wanted to avoid conflict, and didn't know how much I'ver shared his dragon's indignance. "Shall I help?"

Skelath hates you, Akina. He hates you so bad.

I'ver simply rolled his eyes. Looney didn't understand, and while he felt some degree of Skelath's agitation, he couldn't really fault her for that. Skelath could, and did.

“Don't mind him,” he murmured to L'ior, grinning, “He's always like that. And I'd be happy to, Looney.” I'ver went to collect bits of undergrowth from the scattered foliage that grew around the oasis. While he hadn't built a sandweyr in years, he remembered that using small sticks in the middle of the walls helped keep them stable.

Both Lu'reni and Lazulith went on with their lives -- Lu, because she knew Skelath was just being a Grumpy Gus, and Lazulith, because she certainly had no plans to address the issue.

"Some help would be lovely, L'ior!" Lu said to L'ior, clapping her hands together with a sense of purpose. Stroking at her chin, she held out one hand in front of her, squinting her eyes and murmuring to herself. Extending both hands, she made two L-shapes and stalked across the ground in circles before finally stopping. "There it is!" she declared and then stabbed a stick into the center of the ideal spot she had found. Dropping to her knees in the wet sand, she started to create a mound. "It looks like I'ver has the decorations under control. Want to help me with the base?" Building it was fun, yes, but Lu's favorite part came after all the building!

Did I create enough wet sand, Mine-lu?

You don't need to ask my permission to go swimming, Lazzy.

Oh... but that is not... that is not what I was asking, Mine-lu? See, I asked if I had made enough wet sand. If I have made enough... then perhaps...

Lu stopped her construction and shot her dragon a knowing look. Lazulith couldn't lie; she couldn't even deceive. Instead, Lazulith shot a wave of happiness toward her rider and practically galloped into the water, sending water spraying in every direction. Dioth, come splash with me? The water feels very wonderful. Lazulith shook her wings in the water, dipping her head under until only her head knobs were visible.

"I imagine he is," said L'ior with a chuckle as he watched I'ver pad off, turning back toward Lu'reni, trotting over to the circle of wet sand and maneuvering down to his knees. It'd been a very long time for him since he was a child, and he didn't think he'd ever really bothered to make them then, but as he began to gather the sand up, he rather thought it was sort of fun. "How tall are we making this, then, Lu'reni?"

I will swim, L'iormine, came the gentle nudge at the edge of L'ior's consciousness, and the rider chuckled. For such a large creature, the blue's voice was rather tender.

Very well. Enjoy yourself, Dio, L'ior returned affectionately, sending a wave of happiness at his lifemate, and then left the other to go ahead with his plans.

Of course I will, returned Dioth amiably, replying to Lazulith delightedly and then headed toward the water, stepping in more daintily with a pleased rumble. He'd been getting over-warm, after all.

Igen was a desolate place where life seemed to be choked out by the unwavering heat and blistering sun, but the oasis provided a small reprieve for a few scattered bits of plant life. I'ver made his way through the foliage, plucking up small sticks and interesting leaves wherever he was able to find them. Here are there a small, brightly colored flower would be present amongst the foliage, and I'ver hadn't a second thought about snatching it up.

Destroying such rare beauty in the middle of this wasteland was second to making sure it was the best sharding sand weyr possible.

“Well, we have flags, tapestries, and runner carpets,” he murmured upon his return, dropping the handfuls of leaves, twigs, and assorted pebbled in a small pile next to the base they were constructing.

Kneeling in the wet sand, Lu'reni felt her knees cool as water seeped up her riding pants. She hardly ever wore dresses, never really had. She had a tendency of falling and ending up in an embarrassing position. Digging her fingers into the muddied sand, she began to slowly construct town mounds. "As high as we can! Isn't that the challenge? Lu laughed, high and trilling, and then began to shape the larger mound, thinning it toward the top so that it resemble the highest peak of Igen. "When I was little, I would come out here with my father and build sandweyrs and then sculpt little dragons and riders and make herdbeasts out of sticks and stuff. Sometimes, it's nice to get back to that mentality, you know?" Her eyes flashed with age for a moment, her comment seeming less frivolous and more nostalgic.

In the water, Lazulith felt a shared pang of sadness. Lu'reni's father was too sick to do much of anything nowadays. Would you like a cuddle, Mine-lu? the dragon asked, momentarily pausing in her water revelry. Lu told her no, said that she was fine, and after a hesitant moment, the dragon resumed her play, throwing a spray of water at Dioth and then darting away. The blue dragon really did have a lovely temperament; Lazulith always felt comfortable around him.

I'ver's reappearance snagged Lu's attention back to the two other riders. She grinned wide and reached to grab several pebbles. She pinched one in each hand and raised an eyebrow playfully. "Perhaps there are eggs on the Sands?" The corner of her mouth raised up, but Lu could not hold the bemused expression for long. It broke out into a full-force grin, white teeth poking out under her chapped lips.
