I keep forgetting to put my ideas down into writing, though that is what I purchased this book for, and what I ought to use it for. There have been a few jokes that I'm not able to write, or at least that I cannot sit still long enough to finish something, and so, I suppose, I ought to contest those. I do in fact use my head for more than growing hair upon (though it is good for that, too).
Tried a new recipe for bread today, with bits of dried redfruit in (that was not hard to find; there are several bushels of the stuff hanging about that the kitchens were only too happy to be rid of). It was a spectacular flop. It turns out that redfruit, though dried, did have a significant amount of water in it, which made the bread turn into a very damp, sad, soggy thing when it was baked.
But it tasted all right, once you got past the texture. Next time, perhaps, more flour? Or less liquid. I suppose the juice would replace water. I'd like to try the same thing with flatbread, which cooks more quickly and loses more water. Or maybe I will try the spiderclaws, if I can get hold of some. I suppose I could take Dioth back to that beach to hunt some down --
