She overlooked the mispronunciation, after all, when she heard Naolin speak the language, it always threw her for a loop (much to her embarrassment), to the point of making her mind dizzy at times.

Curiously, Stazja observed him as he seemingly spoke to both himself and to her at the same time. She inclined her head somewhat, and her ears perked as if she were trying to hear the focus as it oozed out of him.

"Yes, that should do it," she said with a nod, squatting down fluidly using her tail for additional balance as she peered through the shelf in question. A particularly thick book caught her attention, and she pulled it out carefully. If Damien had been in doubt to her respect for books before, he was probably amazed at just how delicately she handled the aged material.

"Religión Azteca," the teen read with relief. "Spanish... I think this might be where I must start."

So preoccupied was he that he merely gave Stazja's 'eureka' moment a severely distracted "Hmm." His own voice, however, pulled him out of whatever spell he had put himself under, and he blinked, turned to look at Stazja. Finally, her words sunk in, and he glanced at the book.

He assumed, with her relieved tone, that she knew Spanish ... although it was quite possible that she was just so sure of herself that she figured she could learn enough to understand the book's little gems of knowledge. "Well, at least now you have something to read while you're waiting for your other book," Damien commented, even as he went back to looking for books on the mythology.

From personal experience, he knew that once a long-sought-after book had been located, all that you wanted to do was sit down and read it. As a result, he wondered if he should just leave the other teen alone for the moment.

It was with that thought in mind that he started to sidestep his way to the end of the bookshelf, to allow Stazja her privacy.

The Spanish language wasn't yet one added to her arsenal, but she was confident that she would learn it with no problem. Until then, she'd could do little more than look at the pictures and diagrams in the book, which if they were indication, proved that this book would be a worthwhile purchase.

A rare honest smile reached her lips, and she straightened herself after gathering the rest of the books that she planned to buy that day.

His shuffling motion caught her attention, and part of her felt sad. Their conversation had been the most in depth conversation she had participated in with someone outside of her family, and she kind of didn't want it to end.

That and he must have a glorious book collection.

"Do you like Greek food?" She finally asked awkwardly, tail flicking with nervous energy behind her.

His retreat was slowed by the question. And, here he thought he was doing her a favor. His sidestepping stopped and he looked over at Stazja, blinking in mild surprise. Greek food?

He tilted his head to the side, and thought about it a little. "Yeah," he started. "I like Greek food." Where was she going with this?

Well, now she just felt weird.

"Um..." She started, not really knowing where she had been going with this past seeing if he liked Greek food. "I know this amazing little place... It's authentic..." Trailing off, she shrugged and shifted her weight from side to side before abruptly turning and stepping over to the checkout counter.

Damien's brow quirked as he watched her leave. He didn't know if he should follow her or not....

Well, it wouldn't be following her, he had his own book to purchase. He sighed as he moved toward the checkout counter. Luckily, the place was obscure enough that there wasn't many people in there. In fact, he thought that he and Stazja were the only ones in the store.

So, he stepped up behind Stazja at the counter. He was silent a moment, holding his book behind his back, rocking on his heels. Finally, he asked, "Were you just talking about Greek food to talk about it, or were you asking me to join you for lunch?" he muttered, looking at her out of the corner of his eye.

Stazja exchanged a few words with the clerk, who she knew from frequent visits, as he completed the transaction and wrapped the books up carefully.

His question caused her to blink and stare at Damien. Had that been what she was asking? She considered. Yes, that sounded about right. "Do you not want to come?" The Jivvin countered inquisitively, raising her eyebrow and appearing slightly wounded, if that look were even possible on her.

After a moment of prolonged eye contact, uncertainty pulsed through her and she turned to back to the clerk to take the packages.

He didn't know what to think when he saw the look Stazja was giving him. Luckily, he didn't have to keep his mind on it for too long, as it was his turn to ring up his purchase.

It took him a while yet to reply. When he finally did, he leaned his elbow on the counter, and leaned on his elbow, as he looked at Stazja again. He looked thoughtful, as though he were really thinking over his response. But, he figured that he had better not draw that out any longer than necessary, simply because Stazja might take back her invitation. He nodded, and said, "No, I want to go," and he offered her a grin. He then pushed himself off of the counter and took his own bag from the clerk, thanked them.

"So, I hope this place is within walking distance...."

She let her mouth twitch slightly upwards in a smile at his response. "It is, if you don't mind a longer walk." The Jivvin didn't mind walking, and generally found it preferable than driving and much more calming. Besides, the weather was still clinging onto the last legs of summer, and it was beautiful out that day.

Hefting her large bag over her shoulder, Stazja stepped out of the shop and into the sun, squinting harshly at the light while waiting for Damien.

Amusement over her question twinkled in his serpentine eyes, and he shook his head. Of course, Stazja wouldn't know why the question had been amusing, he hadn't really let slip anything terribly important about himself, and he wasn't about to comment on it.

Damien slipped the packaged book under his arm once more and followed his lunch partner out of the shop. He reached a scaled hand up to shield his sensitive eyes to the high sun, and glanced at Stazja. "So, nƮn hiril, which direction?" There was a light tease in his voice as he started to relax a little around her.

Oh, two could play at that game.

"Prosty na przodzie," she replied sweetly, offering him a challenging grin and making an 'after you' sort of hand motion. Her tail swished grandly behind her for added visual effect. Her own deep purple eyes were practically swimming with sarcasm and amusement as well, but for different reasons than Damien.

He looked at Stazja, mild confusion in his eyes as he thought over just what he had done to have prompted instructions in a completely different language. He thought back to what he had said, and it dawned on him. He had a habit of slipping in elven words every once in a while, which only seemed to have gotten worse since his return home. He thought he had it in check when with anyone other than Tinania, or Aunt Krista and Uncle Rinion, but he seemed to not have.

He had a fifty/fifty chance here, on one hand he could look like a complete fool, on the other hand he would choose the right direction and give the impression that he knew whatever language she was speaking. He thought on this a few moments, wondering which would be the lesser evil. In the end, he settles on a completely different option.

"I'll tell you mine, if you tell me yours," he offered, grinning.

She could help it. No matter how much effort she put into it, Stazja failed to stop the smirk from curling over lips. Fighting a chuckle proved to be slightly easier, and it came out as an odd sort of chuffle.

"Ahh," she finally breathed out when she had composed herself. "I said 'Straight ahead'... In Polish." Her eyebrow raised expectantly. "Time to tell me yours..."

The teen made a display of putting her unbagged hand on her hip, which she cocked out intentionally to seem even more impatient. All in good fun, after all.

Damien wasn't a smirker, otherwise he might've returned the gesture. Instead, he filed that little tidbit away, just in case he ever heard it again. He didn't think he would, most of the languages he had learned had been out of necessity, and Polish was not something he came across in his everyday life.

So, he simply nodded, his grin growing a little wider when he saw the stance that Stazja had adopted. "I said 'my lady' in elvish," he replied. "Sindarin, to be more precise," he elaborated, as there were several forms of the elvish language. Immediately, his smile became a little apologetic. "I mean no offense by that, by the way. It's a habit of mine ... the elvish and the 'my lady'."

Then, he started walking in the direction that Stazja indicated, mindful of whether or not she was following him.

Something warm and fuzzy adopted itself in her stomach at the idea of someone calling her 'my lady', even if it she didn't understand the language in which it was spoken. It made her pine for the days past in Greece, where she felt like a princess in her own right.

Even if he hadn't meant it as flattery, she took it as such. Maybe she should insist on her friends calling her such a title, and then she remembered, she had no friends. A mental image of Jatin calling her such was enough to wash the previous sad thought out of the forefront of her mind.

When he began walking, she followed naturally. Since they were about the same height, it became easy to match his stride and walk with him. "No offense taken," Stazja responded, pausing for a moment. "I do like the whole 'my lady' title though... Must really have normal women swooning all over the place over such a word choice."

Apparently, the Jivvin didn't consider herself 'normal'.
