"I wasn't skinny dipping the first time, I was in a night gown...unfortunately it was a rather sheer nightgown, and the event did involve rope." She paused a moment glancing over at him. "Yes, another prank. And I don't exactly fall for them, as much as fall into them."
She looked to the road, her head tilting slightly. "Where are we going?"

Eulalia Danae "I wasn't skinny dipping the first time, I was in a night gown...unfortunately it was a rather sheer nightgown, and the event did involve rope." She paused a moment glancing over at him. "Yes, another prank. And I don't exactly fall for them, as much as fall into them." She looked to the road, her head tilting slightly. "Where are we going?" "Doesn't sound like the nicest prank in that case." Rex walked up between the seats, staring out the front window between them. "I figured I'd drop you off at your place, you're a little more naked than I'm sure you'd prefer."

"No, the pranks are most definitely not nice." Roxanna jumped slightly as Rex walked between the seats. She hesitantly reached out and awkwardly patted the top of the dog's head, hoping that would satisfy the animal.
"My place?" She bit her lip, "That might present something of a problem."

Rex licked her happily, laying down for the ride.
"Don't want to show up in a shirt? Don't you have a back way in or something?"

Roxanna jumped as the dog licked her, but settled down when it wasn't followed with a bight of some kind. "It's not that." she said, and leaned forward looking out the window. "Do you see that pillar of smoke in the distance? I believe that's my house."

Jarred paused, looking over and seeing the cloud. "That's you house...? How the hell did that happen?" He looked at her strange. "Why were you in that lake?"

"That was part of the prank?" Roxanna said lamely, wondering if he would buy it for a second. She kept quiet a moment, finding the silence a little awkward. In the process she gave the Rex's head another pat, trying to fill the silence with something.

"Well, it was only a matter of time." He shrugged, still driving the same direction. "I mean, you put the big sign in your front yard 'blow me up' and someone's bound to take advantage of that." He gave her a look to send the sarcasm home, though it quickly turned to a slightly worried look, figuring sarcasm might get her to stop screwing around. "Are you in some kind of trouble, Roxanna? Does this have anything to do with Nicholas' death?"

"There was a sign?" Roxanna asked, not catching the joke at first. She paused as it dawned on her that he was teasing and she tried for a small smile of humor.
The humor died away, and she found herself leaving her hand on Rex's fur, finding the terrifying animal somewhat comforting. She was going to lie to him, but had to acknowledge to herself that she was most obviously in trouble and the lie didn't quite sit well. "It's not directly with Nicholas's death, but it is connected somewhat."

"s**t." Jarred swore quietly, still driving. "So, what's the plan? Go to the police? Do you know who did this all?" He paused. "Do you know who killed Nicholas?"
Rex nudged upwards with his head comfortingly.

"Nick kept a condo in the business district. I'd planned to go there." Roxanna smiled at the dog giving the hand in his fur a gentle shake. She decided not to answer the question about whether she knew who did it. "I don't think the explosion was for me so much as a girl that was staying with me. I'm not sure if she was in the house when it went off, though."

"Could they be trying to tie up loose ends? If you know who they are, maybe they're trying to silence you."

Roxanna shook her head. "They don't know that I know who they are. They thought Nicholas knew, though."

"Which is why they blew up the entire house. If the person they were after was in your house, won't they put 2 and 2 together?" Jarred continued on, though took an exit towards the condo district. "And how did all of this end up with you naked in the lake?"

"They could easily assume the guests had access to my house because of Nicholas, but I still intend to stay low for a little while. I'd rather they not connect me to anything." Roxanna's hand stilled in Rex's fur. "That's a little more complicated."
