The fact that Nedxena had components already gathered surprised Kyil to a degree. She really must have looked into this in order to be so prepared. By this he meant hiring a Spellthief. Where could she have learned so much? It made the tips of his ears itch to question her. Who knew? Perhaps she even knew more about what sort of magic thief he was then he had discovered himself. Though he was tempted to ask her where her source of information was, Kyil kept his tongue still. He and Mikaril would eventually discover everything they needed to know. he had faith that his Master would teach him well over time. He felt no overwhelming desire to learn everything as fast as possible after all.
Kyil's self focused thoughts were brought back to the present when Nedxena snapped the drawstring closed on the presented bag. Kyil blinked his pink eyes once and peered back up at the tattooed female. "I.." Kyil started then paused. Were there any problems? "None that I can think of right now." He finally admitted. There could be some kind of hitch later on he supposed. At that time though he would just find a way to fix it, that was part of what his training was after all. Kyil ceased fiddling with the pendant around his neck and reached his hands towards the bag. "I will go and make myself familiar with what you have provided, as well as check out this magic shop myself before we meet." Hmm...now...here was a rather important question. It had not occurred to Kyil that it would need be asked until that moment. "Will you be watching when I make the theft? Or would you rather meet with me after all is done?"

"Good. Would you be ready after he closes shop tomorrow?" Nedxena was glad to hear that he couldn't think of any problems with proceeding. The thief was going to make sure he was well prepared and that was a very good sign. Her hopes were rising that this theft would go off as planned. She couldn't feel too comfortable though, not until it was over. Holding the bag by the drawstrings, Nedxena reached up her arm to hand it to the thief.
"Oh no, I will certainly be there." Nedxena grinned happily, a look that she could only imagine was a strange one for a drow that did not know her, "I like to be thorough." The mage shrugged and found it hard to explain her overwhelming curiosity, "I've followed maps and hunted down objects even to the surface, letting someone else do it is hard enough I can't miss an opportunity to snoop around too."
"If it isn't an unnecessary distraction," she added, altogether unsure how this would work for the thief. Having to sit on her heels for an entire day would take more patience than she had, it was even more difficult to stomach the idea of sitting this out altogether. Nedxena figured something or other in the city could distract her until then if necessary. Anxiousness threatened to get the best of her. The mage pained herself with the passing thought of how badly an angry sister could throw off her plans. Avoiding the House for a day would be a must.

Tomorrow? Kyil tilted his head to look at the female. She was not giving him nearly any time to think this through. Perhaps that was the point? The more time he had the more likely he could think of a way to slip away and escape if he so desired. Kyil reached out to take the bag as it was offered while he considered his answer.
The fact that Nedxena intended to be present made him uneasy as well. He had never worked with anyone other then Mikaril, and to do so now felt like some form of betrayal. Not to mention the fact he knew nothing of her skills. He could not trust her the way he could his Master. Then of course there was those two different types of trust. The trust of the skilled thief, and the trust of not being betrayed.
"I...believe I would work better solitary. At least when it comes to actually sneaking into the shop. I believe I can be ready by tomorrow, that should not be a problem once I've visited his shop. I will sense all of the magic protections he has in place at that time, as well as gotten a sense for the amount of magic I will be dealing with. I should need no more then fifteen minutes to accomplish that." Kyil twisted the neck of the bag in his hands as he studied Nedxena carefully. "Though..I suppose that if you allow me to enter first and settle any magical alarms or traps, then it will not be a problem for you to enter afterwords."

The thief turned back to look at her when he reached for the bag. Nedxena wondered if he was looking a bit apprehensive or reluctant. Why would he? This was a bit sudden. She had sort of forced her demands on him out of nowhere. But it was a job, and that should make up for it. "Of course. I'm not paying you so I can be your helper. I just want to show up and look around."
Nedxena kicked at loose stones on the pathway, listening to pieces scatter their way down the side towards the city below. It was somewhat peaceful way up here. There was a rumble of noises, all mixed together, soft glows of light in various tones, and it almost looked controllable. Almost.
The mage pointed a thumb at the thief. "Alright, if you don't have any more questions, I should probably let you get to work. The sooner the better."
As much as she liked to think she tried, being patient did not work. Nedxena had to get her hands dirty at least a little bit. She would leave well enough alone to let the thief prepare, but she couldn't set out for the main event. Definitely could not.
Nedxena tipped her head towards the thief and the path stretching up beyond him, "There's another set of stairs that way." The male could certainly forget squeezing past her to go back the way they had come.

Kyil nodded his head slowly as he gripped the bag. As much as he knew that he should have felt exhilarated over this potential endeavor...he could not help but wonder if he really should have spoken with Mikaril about this first? He was still only learning. He could make so many err's. What if this was some sort of trap that someone as ignorant as himself would not realize. While Nedxena contemplated the peace of their position, Kyil struggled with the heavy weight of making a decision on his own. Had she not blocked the path down, he surely would have backed away by now, begging off making a choice until some later time.
That is not what had happened though. He had made a decision, and now he gripped the bag of items that were meant to aid him in fulfilling his side of his deal. Kyil lifted his eyes from the bag when Nedxena spoke to him. He blinked the pink orbs once, then glanced up the path. "Ah...no. No questions. I believe everything has been pretty much covered." He replied. Carefully Kyil turned and crept up the pathway. The height, while it was certainly something he was unaccustomed to, was not nearly as bad as he thought it would be.
((Shall we skip ahead to the actual theft now? Nedxena could maybe be waiting outside the shop for Kyil the next night?))

It was almost time. Nedxena had thoroughly enjoyed herself some hours before, spending the evening making sure she did not have the chance to worry or think impatient thoughts. Or think any thoughts at all. Massages, oils, soaking baths, and anything she felt inclined to. The pampering didn't last long enough. The daughter had been noticed swiftly and word sent along a trail of servants to the Matron. How long had it been since she had been gone? Too long apparently, because the matron had to send for her of course.
Nedxena hadn't been able to avoid the lecture she was due. She had tried pleading her usual case that her treasure hunting missions would pay off for the House's business in one way or another. Nedxena thought to take a few extra things tonight, not for herself, rather to fill the Matron's coffers. Profit would have to cool her temper at least a degree or two.
At least Nedxena had left the House in time to make it to her waiting spot. Without anything extra except for a discreet bag hanging across her cloaked back, the drow was crouched against a sculpture. The mage had decided she would rather wait for the thief from an out of the way vantage point, so had climbed across a roof adjacent to the alley beside the magic shop to wait. As soon as she could spy her hired thief finally getting somewhere on the door, she could join him. Now where was he? Her fingers itched against the stone, and she craned her neck up to look further down the street.

When Kyil returned to the cave, he sat down with the bag and went through it. He spent a good period of time making himself familiar with the items before finally going to check out the target shop. He browsed a little. Admired some of the prettier necklaces on display, and kept a keen eye out for all the magical auras on the building itself.
There were quiet a few. More then he had seen in the other shop he and Mikaril had robbed. It concerned him a bit to tell the truth. When he left to continue making his preparations Kyil was consumed with worry. Was he going to really be able to do this? Was he taking on too much too soon? While he knew that if he was going to be a good servant to Mikaril, he would need to be capable in the skills Mikaril needed of him. It still worried him so much! It was only the continual reminding that he needed to become more competent that kept him from trying to find a way to get out of this deal. A good Servant served his Master. If Mikaril continued to take care of him...that was -not- the way a proper servant served.
When the shop closed Kyil was as ready as he could be. He had some lock picks. He had his magical back pack. He had his boots with the silence spell upon them. His long white hair he had tied back in a pony tail, though he had taken a few moments to tease his bangs a bit to ensure he still looked a little presentable. Ah! What he wouldn't have given for a proper vanity and bathroom! Perhaps he could convince Mikaril to rent a hotel room for a night as a reward for this job's success. A nice one with all the luxuries he deeply missed. Oh! A bubble bath and a pedicure! To feel the callouses on his feet removed! Oh how badly he longed for that!
Kyil arrived and for a few moments he could not find Nedxena. Where was she? He had come around to the back of the shop, as it was less likely for him to be seen by a passing guard this way. This was how he and Mikaril had successfully robbed the first shop. After just another moment of peering down the street, he decided to get started. It had not occurred to him that his 'partner' would take a higher vantage point.
Kyil crept up to a window and glanced about before placing one hand upon the bar covered frame. Oh! The magic! He inhaled deeply, a slow smile parting his lips as he felt the protective magical wards upon the window. This was not just an alarm spell. It was a nasty trap as well. The magical energies made his heart start pounding more quickly. A soft pink glow glimmered under his fingertips as he drew the magical energies away from the spell. He felt the magic infusing him. The knowledge of the spell tickled into his mind. "Oh..." He murmured happily. "That does feel wonderful..." Kyil opened his eyes and rubbed his fingers against his thumb. Now...where was that female?

Nedxena moved along the rooftop. Keeping an eye on the street around them while she waited, Nedxena felt confident they would have enough time to make it in unobserved. A patrol never turned to the back streets. She saw the thief make his approach to the back of the shop. Finally!
For her it felt like an eternity, but in reality she only gave him a few minutes before she started to descend. Quietly, the mage came back down the side of the building next door and landed in the alleyway.
Nedxena came around the corner slowly, seeing the thief draw his hands away from the window as a pink glow seemed to fade about his fingers. Of course there would be spells to deal with and not just physical locks, however, it did not feel as she expected it to. She had never worked directly alongside a spell thief before and it worried her for a moment that she did not know what to expect from him entirely.
"Is it clear?"
Not only had he shown up, but he had left his Master behind and looked prepared. Things were going quite smoothly and the treasure hunter half-expected at least one thing to go wrong. She was putting her mission in the hands of a thief. Perhaps that was wrong enough.

Kyil fisted his hand and looked down at the fingers for a moment. Ah. How he missed having them trimmed and painted so perfectly. The lotions that kept his hands as soft as silk. The slight perfume that was dabbed upon his wrists so he carried a pleasing scent. He was often told that floral scents accented his delicate features...and he missed it all terribly. Now he could feel a firmness in his fingertips, and his nails had only their natural gloss to decorate them.
Kyil was so caught up in his moment of longing that he missed Nedxena's initial appearance. His head lifted and he glanced off towards her. "Hmm? Oh..." He needed to focus now! Kyil's head snapped down the alleyway to double check that no one was watching them before he glanced back. "Yes. None are watching us." He informed her, then gestured to the mage to approach with a small flick of his fingertips. "I have removed the wards on this window. It is my opinion that entry through this window will lead into the store room. It will be easier to break into the main shop through the storage room. One tends to put more warding and locks to keep one out of the store room from the main shop then from a window." As he spoke, Kyil's fingertips began to gently tap and press along the frame of the window. After he had assured that there were no traps within the frame, he withdrew a very thin tool with a blade upon the tip. Pressing it against the wooden frame near to where the window glass was fitted, he pressed it in and twisted. "This will take me a few moments. Would you please keep a look out until I finish? I am going to remove the glass by chipping away the wooden frame about it. I believe there is a trap inside that I can not reach otherwise."

"Hmmmn." Nedxena murmured to herself, half-listening to the thief. She was already keeping an eye out around them as she had planned to give the thief room to do his work. She was excited and impatient enough to feel like she could meddle, but she had just enough restraint left to leave Kyil alone to work on the window. Nedxena padded around their vicinity.
The male had been easy enough to work with, she had to admit that. Now they were in for the real test, however. Would he pull all of this off and leave her with a working device? He better hope so. She certainly had high expectations and to his credit he was living up to his end of it so far. So far. She leaned out from the side of the magic shop and worked her way through systematically checking all approaches to their location.
Nedxena could see a fair distance down the alleyway to their left but the right end was obscured as the street turned and the back of a particular establishment jutted out deeply into the alley. She only grew apprehensive once, stopping short against the wall as a trash bag got tossed clear across the alley from a bar's backstep.
Clear clear clear. That thief better hurry up.

Kyil left the watch to Nedxena. As he once would have watched for Mikaril. Carefully he worked with the thin metal tool, and gradually he removed enough of the wooden frame to slip the glass pane from it's setting. Kyil tilted it forwards into his hands, then knelt and laid the glass flat on the ground. It would be less noticeable then were it leaning against the wall this way.
As he had expected, there was a thin wire trap worked just along the inside of the window. Normally one could not see the workings of the trap, but Kyil had taken no chances and been rewarded as such. Gently he ran his fingers along the wire and inspected it. It only took him another minute to disarm the trap. A faint 'click sounded and Kyil turned to smile at Nedxena. "DOne. We now have entry." He whispered, then turned back to the window. He placed his palms on the frame, and tucked himself into the opening head first. His body vanished through the hole, with his feet coming in last.
Once inside, Kyil spared the store room a appreciative look over. There was a lot here. He hoped that he would have time to make off with as much as he wished. Mikaril was going to be so very pleased! Kyil could not stop himself from smiling as he moved to the storeroom door. He knelt and once more repeated the process he had upon the window. His hands pressed to it, and he closed his eyes as a pink glow appeared under his palms. The feeling of the magic flowing into him was just so...fulfilling! With a soft little sigh, he leaned his forehead against the door. "Almost..."

A cold thrill ran along Nedxena's spine as the thief said the magic word: 'Done.' She impatiently stood, keeping a cautious eye to the alley as her conspirer disappeared headfirst through the window.
The mage followed quickly after, not wanting for a second to miss anything. She gripped the window ledge with her long fingers, elegantly leaning in first to see the space she was stepping into. Nedxena climbed into the packed store room carefully. Behind them, the mage laid a quick spell across the open window. It would be nothing close to the intricate trap it replaced but it could provide them a little warning at least if any visitors became too curious about the gaping window.
She turned her attentions to the room around her as the thief worked on the door. There might be some worthwhile items in here too. Most of what was kept out for the public was very common magic but in here Nedxena could feel some more complicated magic brimming. Not the Malauzt, however, that he had a case for in the main room. She looked again at the door, a slow smile spreading. Finally. It was going to be hers!

He wanted to savor the filling feeling the magic bestowed. It was warm inside of him and made him feel rather complete. It also made him feel strangely hungry for more. Kyil ran his fingers over the lock of the door, then knelt to inspect it. Just as before, the actual picking of the lock and unwinding of traps took less time then he thought it should have. Kyil shook his head as he lightly pressed the latch and heard it click open. With a small nudge, the door swung open to reveal the shop itself.
Kyil turned his head to smile at Nedxena. His pink eyes bright as he waited and looked for some form of approval from the female. "That is the last obstacle." He whispered. Kyil rose to his feet and lightly stepped into the room. There was so much magic! He could feel it vibrating around him. Like a thousand heartbeats! He knew his target was something more important, but he could not help but approach the display case with all the enchanted jewelry. "Ohhhh." He moaned softly as he looked at the glittering gold and gems appreciatively. His fingers itched to wear the rings! Kyil flicked his lock pick out to begin work on the display case.

Nedxena followed the thief into the magic shop, pushing her own curiosities aside for now. She could see what caught the thief's eye as he lingered past the gems and jewelry. None of that mattered to her, the mage was hopelessly focused on what she had come to collect. The mage would normally be acting more like the thief to be true, itching to explore the shop's secrets and get her hands on more magic. It was exciting. Nedxena hoped they might have time to spare. Her nagging desire to know what else this vexing shop owner had been hiding from her was starting to rear itself.
Nedxena smiled softly with a glimmer of excited approval to the thief as he announced their last obstacle.
The Malauzt was a wide amulet, the enchanted purple stones beautifully carved but soon to be rendered useless. She stared at it like she had many times before. This time, however, she was not going to be leaving empty handed. Nedxena felt her lips tug up into a pleased smirk as she watched the thief pick the display case.

This part was proving more tricky then he had anticipated. Kyil was grateful that there was no rush at the moment for him to get the case open! Twice he found himself withdrawing the lock picks and exchanging them out for different ones. Mikaril was a patient teacher, and Kyil wasn't exactly lax in his studies...but picking locks was not the same as cooking a perfect pudding or finding the hidden knot buried under the muscles of someones leg. There was clearly a more delicate touch required and Kyil was still learning how to feel things out using tools rather then his own fingers. With a furrow of his brow, he carefully twisted one of the lock-picks, and was started when he heard a faint 'Snap'. Kyil withdrew the lock pick and stared with a dumbfounded expression at the broken head. He didn't even know lock-picks could break!
For a moment he looked uselessly at the lock on the case, and then down at his hands. Well... "I think I need more practice...." He replied as a uneasy blush settled over his cheeks. Kyil glanced up at Nedxena as he tucked the lock-picks back into the fold of his skirt. With the tools secured, Kyil rose and walked form the glass case. It only took him a moment to find what it was he was looking for of course. He glanced over the wall, then pointed to a smooth headed maul and then to a hanging cloak. "I have removed the magical wards from the case...you know the glass is just glass correct? You could just shatter it, if the maul is wrapped then the cloth will smother the sound so it is not so loud upon the striking. Just a few firm taps will crack it, and we can push the rest of the glass in?"
