congrats WeslyMizukage, you have now entered the realm of everything being your fault, but the good stuff to is your fault. its fun, you can get away with more, at least in my band you can.

Hi...I'm new...anyway, I'm gonna be trying out for section leader for next year. I'll be a junior (even though I'm trying to graduate next year), but i dunno if I'll be able to be in that position. My section leader wants to try out for drum major, but if she doesnt make it, she'll be section leader and i'll just be playing with all the other wierdos in my section....*sigh* but congrats!!! 4laugh

Heh, I go to Loara high school, and there is quite a bit of band geeks (less than 200) and 18 clarinets. there are 3 senior clarinets, me being one, and none of use are first chair. Instead its a junior who is in all southern. I can stil bet I'm better than alot of you though, lol. What kinds of solo pieces are you guys looking at? I've used Concertino (Webber) and Concerto (Beethoven in A major) and am reading through the 40 Rose studies I got for Christmas. I'm also arranging a clarinet quartet of Nightmare Before Christmas music that I am transcribing and playing in.

At LM where me and Wesly are from, we have about 110 band members and maybe 75 band geeks. Also we don't do solos and junk cause we are lame, cheap and not many of the people are too into that.

WeslyMizukage Well, I feel kinda stupid about posting this. Yeah I'm proud of myself for moving to first clarinet, but, I'm a Junior...in a concert band class full of Freshmen... redface Oh well! The main reason I'm usually on third is because its the easiest part! Plus I like to watch the Freshmen strugle with first! Its funny...I'm so sad... sweatdrop becoming first clarinet is great....i love high notes!

Oh. That's good! I've always played first. I've only played second for some songs.
I like the challenge. But if its too hard, I go into the lower notes.

Just practise. Doing solos are scary, at times. Sight Reading...I've learned how to do that. This year, its way easy.

congrats! I'm second chair right now, but the first chair clarinet is quitting band next year, so I'll be moving up. (It's kinda sad though, because that doesn't mean I'm as good as her, she's just lost interest in music, which is impossibible for me.) I heart music!!!!

Rajiko Darlene I stayed cause the freshman needed me, you can hardly hear them, but now I abondon them for BASS CLARINET!!!! MUWHAHAHAHAAHH!!! I HAVE EASIER MUSIC THEN YOU NOW!!! That (sort of) happened to me. (I'm just way to damn versitile for my bd.) Anyway, BC music has its own unique challenges since its a bigger instrument, its harder to tounge faster and finger faster. Plus the upper register can be a b***h.

Awsome! I am a trumpet player, but I tried my friend's clarinet once and I kind of sucked. It's still great you got first chair even if you are in concert.
