Stepping onto the porch Lion realized just how cold it had got in the few hours it had been since she was out here. Shivering a little from the gust of wind, she walked down the old steps moving out into the yard towards the woods. "Next time I'll bring a jacket. She thought to herself. Walking out to the edge of the woods, her feet crunching on top of the snow. "Crunch, crunch, crunch, thud"..."What was that?" Lion set down the bucket and trash can. She turned to where she had just stepped. Stepping on the spot lightly, testing it with her foot. "Thud" She heard. "There is something hollow down there." Bending down squatting on her legs, she began to wipe the snow away. Then all of the sudden "CRASH, boards underneath her fell away. Lion fell into a very dark hole. Feeling around the area her legs were, she began pulling old boards away from her. Something tickled her forehead. She wiped at her head feeling something warm and sticky. "Blood?" She wondered, but couldn't see anything to tell if it was or not. Looking up all she saw was stars and clouds in the sky with very little moon. " Wonder if I yelled out, would anyone here me at this late hour?" She stood, her legs ached from the fall. "HELLO! ANYONE THERE?" She called out. " Maybe they will see the bucket and trash and come bring me a rope. "SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET OUT OF THIS HOLE!" She tried again. "HELLLLLLOOOO?" "Well I guess I better hope my pups try to find me or someone comes along that can help me out of this hole, or whatever it is."

Wolfie had gone inside hours ago finding that the frigerator had been clean. Shuffling about in the cabinets she had found a box of tea and had made a tea pot full, toting a silver tray into the great room where they had all gathered for the warmth.
The pups lay in tangles around her feet and she had gotten up for a stretch and some fresh air. It was such a nice country night that it called her.

Still a little cold, greatful that the hole she was in didn't let in to much wind from the night above her. Lion felt around on the ground to see what she had landed on. The groung felt a little dirty but for the most part it felt like wood. She wondered if the Manor had some kind of storm celler or Maybe an extended basement. "I wish my eye's would ajust to all this blackness down here so I could see what was around me." Lion said aloud. "HELLO? CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?" She yelled once more. " I guess everyone is to far in the house to hear me." She walked with her hands out in front of her feeling the air for anything solid. "Ouch" she yipped when her hand conected with a wall. She felt down then up the wall. Deciding that it was just a wall, She turned and leaned up against it sliding down till she was sitting on the wood floor. Crossing her arms Lion setteled in for the night. Waiting till morning to try and yell again. Soon she was fast asleep.

The light from above her shined in on Lion thru the opening. It was morning. Lion felt a little cold but not too bad. She looked around at the new surroundings. It was still dark in the hole she fell in but she could see a little better than she could the night before. "I need some kind of light down here to see what this is. Maybe Wolfie will know what this place is or what it used to be" Lion said to herself, standing up. She stretched out her legs and back getting the sleep out of her body. Looking a little closer at the wall she had slept against, she saw and felt what looked like a shelf. It had something on it, form the dim light Lion thought it was a glass bottle of some kind. Not wanting to disturb anything she turned and walked under the opening in the roof above her. "HELLO! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME" She yelled for the first time this morning, her voice a little squeaky. " Maybe if I whistle the pup's might hear me. Putting her fingers to the sides of her mouth she let out a whistle. And again. "Where are they?" she thought. Sitting back on the ground. "I'll just have to wait." She said as she rubbed her hands thru her black hair.

Wolfie pushed open the screen door of the porch with a slightly heavy heart. This whole place was going to be such work to get back into shape. In a sense it was a blessing, but in another it just made her very sad to see how her aunt had lived in her final days.
As she leaned up against the beam of the staircasing, she thought she could hear a voice. How odd. The cold wind rustled the trees and snow flickered off of them sprinkling her face. With a wipe of her hand she watched her breath float up towards the stars. It was a crisp clear night, however cold. Strangely enough, she felt very at home out here. Many a nights when she was younger she used to sneak out of the house and come out to stand under the stars.
There were still tree stands somewhere nearby in the woods... she remembered constructing them in secret from her aunt. It had been her special place to come out with her journal or a book late at night and sit under the stars for hours. Noone knew she was there. It had been her secret. Always. Though Wolfie assumed that they would be long since ravaged by the elements years later. A little work might restore them. She smiled thinking about that... her own place again...

Wolfie heard it again. It really did sound like a voice out there. She hoped that HPM in all her glory had not slipped on the ice somewhere and fallen into a snowbank. Wolfie could just imagine that one taking place.
"Hello?" She called out into the wind. Snuffling sounds came from behind her. It was Alaster and Calendery...how strange that there wasnt a Lion attatched to them somewhere. They were far too young yet to be adventurous on their own at this time of night with the snow on the ground.

Alaster and Calendery wabled out onto the porch falling over one another. Seeing Wolfie they got up and ran to her, smelling her. Yipping and barking at the her. Trying hard to get all her attention.

Wolfie looked between them and the woods. The sun was just peaking up over the tree tops and the night sky was fading away. "Wow, I must have dazed out for a bit," Wolfie commented. "I really have to stop doing that."
She picked up the bright red pup and looked into its eyes. "What's the matter pup? Where's your mommy?" The tuff of fur wriggled in her arms a moment and Wolfie got the distinct feeling that something indeed was out of place.

Alaster wiggled in Wolfies arms. His ears shot up in alarm. He barked at Wolfie and wiggled more trying to free himself. Calendery hearing the faint whistle of Lion, headed for the steps to fast and fell down them. Fumbling to get to her feet, she yipped in concern.

"Okay, Okay...let's not get ahead of ourselves. I think we might need some supplies if we are heading out into the woods at this hour. My pack is right inside the door. C'mon guys..." She picked up little Calendery and carried them both back through the screen door into the kitchen.
Placing them gently on the floor she scooped up her pack. It was still filled from the obstacle course as she had not had the time to clean it out. Surely there was something useful inside. With a flash of memory, she removed it again, pulled out her light and unscrewed the cap. Dumping the old batteries onto the countertop, she rummaged through her Aunt's drawers to find a sole pack of C batteries. It would be her luck...
Replacing the cap to the flashlight, she tested the beam. One of the pups, she couldnt remember which was which in the confussion ran under the kitchen table. The other ran into the pantry. The sudden light must have scared them.
"C'mon guys...let's see if your mom is out there." She ushed them towards the door, slipping her pack on again, hoping they would follow her back onto the porch. Outside it was cold still and the sun hadnt come up enough to create any shine off the snowdrifts. She snuggled down into her jacked at waiting for the pups to come out through the doggie door.

Alaster then Calendery poped thru the doggie door. Keeping close to Wolfie, they were not letting her get to far without them.
Lion's tummy growled. Patting her tummy she thought "I should have found something to eat lastnight" Standing up once again, she looked up. The sky was still dim with little light in it. "I guess I could try and climb out some how." Looking around trying to see if there was anything close to her she could use. There were the boards that fell with her, and the shelf. Giving up she yelled again in hopes someone was awake. "HELLLLLLLOOOOOO?" Feeling the pain in her head she touched the spot where it hurt. The blood was now dry. "At least it stopped bleeding." she said. "If only it were brighter in here I could find something to use to get me out. A rope anything. By the look of what little I can see I don't guess rope would do me any good. It would have been down here a long time. To Old" She thought and sat back down to wait.

Spotting the pups, she scooped them up into her jacket for the time being. If Lion was out there, she didnt want the pups falling into the same scenario as she might have. The woods were full of suprises that poor little infants werent supposed to experience.
Wolfie bounded off the back stairs and shone the flashlight out over the snow. There were so many sets of tracks. Her own, the Moonlits, and another...yet... the wind had drifted across the trail and it ran dry. With a frown Wolfie began to carefully step her way down towards the woods. She could see something in the distance, scattered over the snow. Blood? Carcus? It was unknown at this point. She had hoped that the bears werent out at this point. With a buggered look, Wolfie slowly walked in a circle, flashlight waivering to check for Bears.

Wiggiling to get a spot on top of Calendery, Alaster pushed her down into Wolfies jacket making her yip at him. Fighting for the top Calendery pushed back at Alaster. Each one growling at the other.

"Okay Okay settle down in there." Wolfie patted the jacket reassuringly. Somehow she reminded herself why she didnt get a ferret out here. With a snort she continued through the drifts towards the spot in the snow that looked out of place. The ice coating on top crunched as she went...the sun just barely dappling its surface.
"Hello?" She called out. "Lion? Are you there?" As Wolfie got closer she realized that it wasnt a bear or a carcus after all. It was a bucket of trash, scattered around. How odd was that?

Lion leaned back against the wall. Hearing a noise above her she looked up. "was that a Hello?" She stood up using the wall for balance. She put her back against the wall standing on her tip toes. "IS ANYONE THERE?" she yelled unsure of her own ears. "Am I hearing things?" she wondered aloud. Bending down she squatted looking for something she could throw out of the hole. "Maybe someone is close enough to see this." She said as she picked up a small piece of splintered board. Standing back up, Lion threw the peice of wood out of the hole and waited for a response. "I hope there is someone up there and I'm not imagining things."
