As he appears out of the shadows into his new dwellings he sees Orawan. He looks at her with a look of graditude and says "Thank you mistress of the mercenaries" He then disappears into the same shadow he appeared from to wander the quarters for his room and the training facilities.

Unlike the spell caster, the Shadow Dancer didn't catch his General's silent gesture for attention, especially with his back turned to her, but as soon as the wizard made his disappearance, Pas Jhos leaned back in his seat and turned his head to look over his shoulder to the Drowess, now noticing the strange gesture. A smile played across his face as he recognized such a look. This was a good sign, at least in Pas's mind.

"Something on your mind, Mistress?" Pas questioned with curiosity in his voice. It was then some random recruit appeared from the shadows to thank the General and disappeared once more. Unable to keep it in, Pas chuckled a bit before shaking his head and twisting his chair to face Orawan now.

"Anyways, I see that you got something brewing in that mind of yours. Mind sharing it with your lowly Captain?" He asked, playfulness thick in his tone.

Pas let out a yawn as he stretched in his seat as he awaited his leader's response. Today seemed to be going slow for the small group of mercenaries, but in Pas mind, he knew this was only temporary. His general wasn't the only one having plans brewing and ideas running in his head. In fact, while he waited for his leader's reply to his questions, the Shadow Dancer was contacting his secret agent within the Houses, learning all he could from the Llothite city.

This is what caused a smile play across the Drow's young and handsome features as he continued to study General Orawan's features. For indeed, things were moving in the cruel city of Ulorrbath. He wasn't told what exactly, but he knew better. Things were always changing in a city that worshiped chaos. And in the chaos, anyone could easily earn a couple gold pieces if they did the right job.

Her heart jumped slightly as Pas' gaze finally met hers, catching finally the silent request she'd directed towards him. Her eyes shifted breifly between him and the remaining underlings, the left corner of her mouth twitching slightly with irritation. Drawing a lithe hand through the masses of her silver hair she made a quick decision to vacate the room rather than ordering the others to do so, at least that way they wouldn't feel inclined to eaves-drop on the conversations of their superiors.

Directing her gaze back to Pas, "We have things to discuss, Captain Jhos, if you could follow me to my study? Please bring a few maps of the main cities with you, if you could," her voice was soft and subtle, but held commanding tone that none would ever dare disobey. She inclined her head slightly to the rest of her warriors, turning on her heel she dissapeared behind the nearest door, her cloak fluttering behind her.

With movements as fluid as the shadows, the young looking Drow slipped out of his seat to stand at attention and collect the items he was directed to gather. Carrying a smile matching that of a devious fox, Pas looked at those who still remained and shrugged his shoulders. Though he had the urge to sigh, the male held it as he followed his commander silently out of the room and towards General Orawan's study.

"So I guess you did have something brewin' behind those eyes of yours..." The short haired Shadow Dancer mused as he kept the rolls of maps under one arm and his other free. His free hand remained on the pummel of his sheathed rapier as he moved, his blue eyes ahead of them as his senses remained alert. Though he was amongst his kind, he still couldn't shake his old habits.

The young noblewoman's expression shifted from nuetral and pompous to welcoming and friendly as soon as her captain had entered the room, "Oh, I have a few ideas.. but nothing solid," she said softly, throwing herself into a cushioned chair in front of her desk. There was a black granite desk, a small cot crammed agains the back wall between several bookcases, two stuffed chairs and an ornately carved drawing table, spaced between them of course, positioned next to an ever-lit fire place, glowing warmly against the darkness. She'd once been to the surface on a raid and had met an elderly human couple who'd had the same set up.. it had seemed ideal to her. A small rumbling sound came from around her desk as soon as the door had been locked and an ebon colored animal padded over to its master, nuzzling against Orawan's limpened fingers. The room was larger than the common area, but not by much. It wasn't just her study, it was her living area, and so far the only person who'd been invited to see it was Pas.

She guestured at the table in front of her, motioning for him to drop his books there. "More importantly I'd like to get a few ideas from yourself on the current situation. Work is slow, no one is hiring.. that means there's peace between the houses in the underdark, and that can't be right. Either everyone's getting along or they're hiring someone else to do their dirty work, either way we need to fix this little problem before our resources begin to run short."

The Shadow Dancer shrugged his shoulders as he placed the maps and tomes onto her desk, sighing as he looked at his General. "I guess we could stir trouble like we were discussing earlier in the common area. But to be honest, we haven't really be selling ourselves much out there." Pas gave a weak smile as he took a few steps back until he fell upon one of the stuffed chairs.

"My source in the Llothite city says something weird has been occurring in the second House. She isn't too sure, but says the atmosphere of the place has changed. As for the other Houses, well, the third has remained quiet as well as the new fourth. Rumors have it another House may suddenly appear in the city, but that has yet to be seen." He reported as he crossed his arms and tilted his head to one side.

"Either way, you're right about us goin' to run into problems dealing with our resources." His weak smile perked slightly, as he shrugged. "It won't be long till our men give us trouble about their pay and we'll have to start rationing food. So I guess in the end, we don't really have that many options."

The Shadow Dancer straightened himself out and leaned in from his seat as he looked at Orawan, his smile growing a tad stronger as the gears behind his head began to move. "But if you wish some ideas, I guess we go through with what the magling and I were discussing. I say we first sell our skills to the lower House. If they aren't interested, then we hook them with the promise of raising their favor with the Spider Queen. From there, we can see how things go. Right now though, we just need an employer."

Pas's face lightened up a bit as he leaned back and crossed his arm over his chest as he studied the young General, curious on what she had planned herself. "Heh, though you know you might have to do all the dealings with the House, right? Those Llothites don't take friendly to males too well."

The black feline jumped into the lap of her mistress, placing its paws on her chest and nuzzling against her chin, Orawan stroked it absently, her gaze growing distant as she began to formulate a plan. She hadn't cut the ties with her family completely, perhaps she could use the little pull she had with her mother to manipulate the lower houses? She shifted slightly in her chair and reached for a map book on the table in front of it, she flipped to the center of the book to a layout of the central city of the drow, the Llothite city, the worshippers of the Spider Queen. Her brow furrowed as she studied the map, recalling each house and her contacts in each.. there were many that owed her favors, underlings that could be bribbed, daughters of matriarchs that could be kiddnapped and others framed for doing so, but every though that came to mind seemed far to trasparant, to simple for anyone looking deeply enough into the matter to find out. Perhaps they could start a war..

A slight smile rose to her full lips, quirking the corners of her mouth as she smirked at the map. "What alliances do we have with the lower houses, and which ones are strong enough to hold their own agianst houses two and three?"

Pas shrugged as he thought on the question. "Currently, we really don't have any friends in Ulorbbath. I have my mole and that's about it." Glancing to the ceiling and putting a gloved hand beneath his chin, the strange Drow began to give out a low hum.

"As for the houses. Anyone can hold their own on three, seeing how they don't have many men nor holding any particular favor with anyone in the city. As for the second...well, I've been there. They're organized and their commander is an experienced assassin. They'd prove difficult to bring down. He's astute and very cleaver. A war between the two would be a one sided battle." Pas shrugged as he paused to continue thinking.

"The fourth House is pretty interesting. It's run by a Mother and Daughter who are very organized and flashy. They might be able to hold their own pretty well from the third house. Not too sure on the second, but if they did, wouldn't be too horribly surprised."

She tapped her fingers thoughtfully on her lower lip, "..house three... hmmm..." She rose from her chair, chin in hand, pacing before the fire, her eye focusing on the small cracks on the stone floor. House three was weak, that was a good sign.. not for the third house, of course, but deffinitly for the mercenaries, and for house four. The only question was, would convicing the fourth house to attempt at a rise in ranks be an easy matter? She swirrled around and faced her captain, pointing at the map on the table, "You spoke of another house rising to power; I need to know which non-noble families are rising in strength and favor with the Spider Queen. We're going to manipulate their strength, divide our forces between them and the fourth house, and band them together for the complete anialation of the third house. Both houses will gain favor, both will rise in rank, and both will pay us handsomely for our services. If worse comes to worse and our plan fails, we pull out our troops before we lose, we'll already have half our pay, and we'll gain favor from Llolth for betraying and stealing from our employers!"

A smile matching a devious fox spread across the flawless features of the Shadow Dancer. "The new rising House is only rumors. Nothing is concrete yet...perhaps we could go with the plan with just the fourth house till this new player comes into light, eh?" He suggested as he watched his leader move about in the quarter.

"Either way works for me." He grunted as he ponder about the whole favor of Lloth bit. Pas was not a religious person and was definitively not a fan of the Spider Queen, especially since he use to worship the Masked Lord of the Night. But things changed and so did Pas. Now he cared about the Divine as much as he thought they cared about them.

"So when would you like us to begin?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 14, 2009 11:08 am

"I don't like going into battle without a back-up, and plans will take a while to come to fruition if we try to pull this off with just the fourth house. My biggest worry at the moment is the Second house.. granted, three and two aren't close by any means, but what if they were to assist the lower house in the battle? The fourth would be all but destroyed..." a slight frown pulled at the corners of her mouth, she stroked a hand through her hair, tossing it back over her shoulders. "What do you know about the military capacity of the fourth?"

A slanted smirk spread across his face upon hearing the question. "Not much. Um...they've got a good defense, that much I can tell you. Gettin' into that House will not be an easy task and should an attack occur onto them, well, I'm pretty sure it would be quite an interesting battle." The Shadow Dancer said, his voice low as he attempted to recall what he could from his scouting before leaving Ulorbbath.

"How about we pay fourth house a visit? Check them out first hand. If we must, we could go under the disguise of merchants or weapon smiths of some such. Heh, Llothites always want a reason to flaunt their wealth and power, so getting a first hand inspection shouldn't be too hard."
