As they crossed into his packs territory Haemon concentrated and tried to sense if any other wolf was within the vicinity, but no one was close as he pushed on. The female's breath was now laboured and as much as she proved her determination for appearing strong and self reliant he knew she would not be able to keep going much longer, not much further he felt like saying, to comfort her but he stopped himself from uttering the words in case she took it as a sort of patronization.
He slowed and dropped back beside her, in case she stumbled he'd be their to collect her, this was no place to stumble and fall, this was no place for the weak.
Some distance later they arrived at his den and he entered into it's welcoming darkness and beckoned the female in. He had taken one of the larger dens, as he was privileged to do so and he stood at the back as the female entered and he brushed by her and then lay down in the mouth of the entrance, guarding her from any other wolf which may wish to hunt him out for whatever reason.
He adjusted himself so he could watch both the entrance and the female and informed her, 'I may make you uneasy, I am well aware of my effects on others, but I promise you I will not harm you if you give me no reason. Rest now.'
