Will was panting. He could hardly beleive what he had just been througth. He could see his ride had bested this other giantess in short order, her skill was indeed impressive. He liked it. He couldn't understand why, but he did. And now that he had gotten use to the moving, he thought this was really going to work.
He almost Yelled out in excitment, but managed to restrain himself at the last moment, remembering that he had to remain hidden. But he knew two things now, for certain. The first, was that when this ended, and he need not fear his persuers any longer, he would reveil himself to this giantess. He wanted to meet her, speak to her.
And the second, was that he was going to watch out for her. If he sensed anything magic being use against her, he'd warn her, try to protect her if it was withing his strength. And if he noticed something more mundane, like sabotage, well, he wouldn't just sit by, but what he'd do if it happened would remain to been scene.

Aegwuin left the field, Baelinda forfeiting the match after a four point difference. It wasn't cowardice, it was wise. The two would meet again later in combat anyway, the melee battles were not much of Baelinda's personality, instead being much better at the dragon joust and the spear throw. Though the numbers of the Jotun only came to twelve, that still meant two more battles to be done before the next round began. Off in the distance, the targets for the next event slowly chugged their way to the fields, being carried by teams of animals.
"Good fight, Baelinda. I really didn't want to have to fight so early in the round," Aegwuin whispered to her friend. The redhead gave a slight shrug.
"Word has it you and Sir Halmat are considering union. I don't believe it for a moment. Anyone that has a set of eyes knows that you two are so different it would never work out. That's why his province is so small."
"Don't be so quick to put him down; Just because our ideals are different, doesn't make him less of a person."

Will listened to the conversation, and took an immediate interest. The name, Sir Halmat, rang a very, very vague bell. But he couldn't for the life of him place it. And more interesting was that seemingly his ride, who's name he STILL had not heard mentioned, was, near as he could tell, interested in him to some extent, as evident by the exchange.
And that was when he shook his head, hard. So WHAT did he care if she was or was not courting or being courted by another of the giants? Why was this a matter of his concern? I wasn't like he was ever going to have even a remote chance of impressing this being of......
Can't believe I just did that!
He'd seen this mess before. This sort of nearly insane reaction. It only happened when emotions go into play. THis reeked of romantic feelings, and romantic feelings had made a lot of messes that he'd gotten to see in his life. They always had a target, but this target was a new one on him.
He'd developed a liking for a Jotun Lady Knight! It was improbably, it was probably insane, and it defied sense. But emotion was not logical, and while he thought of his control of it as better then most, it was still far from perfect. He knew he had a better chance of being anointed the Messia of the celestial plane then he did of being able to garner the attentions of this knight, acquire her romantic interest, and get her to return such feelings toward him. He was going to need to take a long, hard, objective look at this plan, figure out if it was as well laid as he had first thought.

"You do realize the longer that you stay in armor, the less you'll be seen in a dress," Baelinda mentioned, giving a slight chuckle. Aegwuin was less than interested in such a snide comment, giving no motion back. Her friend, however, seemed to be expecting more of a response anyways. "Please, You can not be seriously this enthusiastic about glory or honor to keep swinging a sword. Retire, be married, rest and continue your life of wondrous beauty-"
"Speak not of what you don't know. You can ruin a thousand more lives with the speaking of a single word, destroy an entire man's heart with a simple sentence, than you ever could with the swing of a sword. I have no interest in governing politic like the rest of the Jotun seem to be vying for. Much less becoming the puppet of a man who cares not for his people, seeking only my providence for his own militaristic gain," she said with stoic conviction.
"Keep talking like that, you're bound to make everyone willing to kill you."
"If they do, then they should do so with honor. I have no time for cowards who hide behind others until opportunity lowers her head, just enough for the axe to be brought upon her neck."

Now that was unexpected.
Will had thougth for sure she was interested in that Sir Halmat character. And that speech cemented it for him. He was hers as a friend, follower, and anything else she'd have him for. She was a good person, that last bit of temper had shown her for it, and she was indeed a better person then most members of the smaller races. He new he had no chance in the reguard he most desired, but That had been his story with women all his life anyway. At least with this one, he new he'd be doing some good.
Not everyone, just those that would have it in for anything that could get in the way of there own power anyway. And she may well endear a great many more to her, should she wish it.
The hell with waiting, when evening came, he would show himself, if not sooner. Thought sooner would only be if someone tried to cheat or sabotage her. Will prayed that sooner would not come. This evening was going to be awkward enought as it was for him.

Round two began, this time facing a knight much more like herself, this time from the east of her own province. If there was anyone who actually could rival Aegwuin in terms of beauty, style, and fashion, it was her, the Lady Furibonda. She came from a larger land, and her gold plated gear was exactly the statement of wealth and display which only infuriated Aegwuin to the core as being gaudy, if not outright blatantly arrogant. What was worse was that she knew the woman was destined for show, not for skill, even though the two were mostly well matched.
"Well, how do you bode, fair maiden of the north?" Furibonda inquired, the feigned air of courtesy leaving the foulest taste in Aegwuin's mouth.
"Never as bright or as bountiful as where you come from, Lady Helen Furibonda. I see your precious metal mines are flowing as freely as ever," Aegwuin flatly remarked back.

It would seem these two mix like oil and water. And given what I know, maybe I should be on guard as well?
Will took a moment to clear his mind, and then he drew in his mana. He sent a simple wave of energy at her. It wasn't an attack, or hostile, or even detectable by any creature that didn't have the kind of mastery of magic that was only scene in a few beings of each generation.
All it would do was tell him if any kind of magics, aside from that which was inherint in being a Jotun, was in play. A spell on her, her armor, sheild, weapons, anything of that sort.
He made another probe. Similar, but this would warn him of spells being throw in general. If there was one, it shouldn't be here now under any circumstances, so it would almost certainly be foul play. He new that, and he hoped both precautions would prove meaningless.
Both spells left with out a hitch, and then a moment later, the second spell took effect on the area and all with in it, which would warn him of any magic used within a range that mattered, while the first probe came back with it's results of the other Jotun and her gear, revealing...

... absolutely nothing at all. Enchantments that would be effective against a Jotun would require a massive engraving, and even more magic channeled into said inscriptions. As most Jotun were incapable of magic, it was extremely rare to find any being in possession of anything magical at all, as its significance would imply quite a lot. Not only do they have the smiths to forge weapons and armor, but also the magicians necessary to make an enchantment which could in fact, make a difference in combat. The scales were simply extraordinary.
The two were cautious as they encircled each other. Aegwuin was offended by Helen's arrogance; Helen saw Aegwuin as either worthless or over-the-top in terms of humility. The two didn't really hate each other. Such an assessment would be flawed in it's design. It was simply a clash of ideologies. With luck, the two often got to display their unspoken debates on the battlefield, as the clashes were nothing short of a good pub tale. Perhaps the clincher in the entire tale, however, was the fact that the two were in fact related by blood, and by tutelage. They were cousins, who had practiced the exact same style as children. Somewhere along the line, however, Helen became more engrossed with the zweihander, Aegwuin with the shield.
As metal on metal clanged out in fury, the second round had already begun.

Well, that's something anyway.
Will held the other spell in place. Just in case someone opted to try and pull something during the matches. He focused on that, and holding tight as this Jotun was hitting a whole lot harder then his rides previous opponent. It was the difference in fighting style. Unlike his ride or the Jotun with the light weapons and armor, this Helen favored a heavy hitter's fighting style. Strike them so hard the first time that they can't get up, and your doing it right. That was how she fought. And since she was about the same size at the Jotun who's armor he was in, it was a style that might work for her. Or not. It was really going to boil down to talent, skill, and experiance this time. Not the fighting style itself. And as sparkes rained off the swords, shields, and armor that could light up a normal forest in a moment, Will knew he was in for one hell of a ride and show!
Before settling in to hold on, hold the spell, and watch the bout, he offered a quick prayer under his breath to the powers that be for his ride's safety and victory.
And then he let what would happen, happen.

To call the fight a catfight would have been a gross understatement. While seemingly respectable on the exterior, the two put all their emotions into the fight. The blade of Helen's was smashing down upon the shield of Aegwuin with the ferocity to make anyone quiver. The sheer impact sent gale force winds down across the fields. And each blow parried back made the knight ever more determined. The clash of metal on metal lasted for nearly two minutes, before the two stood glaring at each other.
Helen was panting, her energy expended, while Aegwuin stood with a relaxed state of mind. She was tired too, but stoicism gave her added edge to keep her cool. Helen tried to shrug it off, regaining her composure with a sly grin and pulling one of her bangs back. Jotun do not have magic in a sense; they cannot perform spells in the typical manner. But to be so large, so powerful, their blood was inherently magic in some manners. And in times in direct concentration, they could produce a kind of aura, a reflection of their inner self. Helen had begun to tap into all of this, as she gripped her sword. A trained magician would see her turn almost red.
"You recover so well, and each time I have tried to put you down, you come back again and again. Today, I will have your glory. I grip my sword with all my strength, as it tells me to defeat you with all my might. Now take all of my sorrow, my anger, my emotion and concede defeat!"
The zweihander swung furiously causing dents to appear on the kite shield. But with anger and hate comes problems. It was but a split second, when Aegwuin stepped back, tossing her sword up and exchanging her shield that gave advantage to calm and reason. As the massive sword buried into the ground, Aegwuin laid her personal weapon across the back of Helen's neck.
"Your sorrow, your anger, your emotion... I do not take them. But I do take your concession of defeat. I'm not here for glory, Helen. You can keep that."
With that as the final move, Aegwuin moved to the finals in the fighting competition.

Will was painting. He had been shaken rather violently during the match. That was probably the understatement of the century, but Will lacked the words do do it real justice. He was not over heated as he had thought he would be, the winds generated by the moving, living mountains clashing had seen to that. He was in awe. Had he not know better, he could have sword this had been a battle between goddesses. But he did, and shook his head clear of such a train of thought.
Will had lost several ropes that held him, and he began reattaching them quick-sharp. He knew he'd need it to stay put during the rest of the day. And If he wasn't as secure as possible, the next heavy hitter would dislodge him.
Really hope that they don't need to do any tweaking to her armor today. That would really make my life easier.

Aegwuin sat down on the sidelines, readjusting her gauntlets and other parts of her armor which threatened to come loose if carelessly ignored.
"Gah, if my next opponent is Sir Drake, I swear I will not enjoy it at all," Aegwuin spoke to herself, rotating her sore shoulder and reattaching the pauldron.

And then, the knight whom had come to captivate Will. Who's name he still didn't know, started fidgeting with her gear!
Will had not had time to fasten himself back in properly, and he was shaken lose.
The free would have felt almost liberating if it hadn't been for the upcoming lethal sudden stop at the end.
"s**t!!!" He didn't care if he was heard or not this time, he had other problems!
Will drew his grappeling hook, and made one, desperate throw at the links of the mail. It was closing, and in a moment of definition, it caught! Will swung with the momentum of the fall, slamming into the leather under the Chain Mail.
Maybe she heard and felt nothing? Right, and maybe I'll best a dragon with one hand tie'd behind my back!

Aegwuin gave a sigh, as she watched the fight draw close to her side of the ring. She didn't move though, as the pair moved back again. The fight ended within two minutes, as the top two were given an hour's break to do as they pleased. Business was business to Aegwuin, as she began to hand her weapon to her squire. She wouldn't eat, while most would take the time to ingest some food to keep their energy high.
Aegwuin, however, would go for a relaxing calf massage instead.

Will held on. It was all he could do now. If she had stayed still longer, he may have been able to strap himself back up. But she didn't, so now, he held on like his life depended on it. To be fair, it did. He wasn't sure were he was exactly, surly he had fallen somewhere about the leg joints, but where, he wasn't sure.
So he held on as she walked, and he prayed she wasn't about to fight again, for that would be his doom. He couldn't understand why he had been missed during the fall. Just luck? Or maybe she intended to have a look now?
