She looked over at Kura. "Who could be in our territory?" She asked half to herself and half to Kura. When Kura asked if she wanted to come with she nodded and stood up. She stretched slightly hoping she would get a proper run. It had been a while since she had run and being part cheetah she was anxious to run again. She sighed noticing one of the spots on her leg. To Lela she didn't like how little of these spots she had. They weren't all over like a normal cheetah and she wasn't a solid golden brown like a normal lion. At first they never bothered her but when her father had killed her siblings she hated them. They marked her as part of him, and she hated him and anything relating to her father.

Not staying too inside the border of the territory, Vrou kept mostly to the very edge as she paced about, observing what she could from the landscape. It seemed like as nice a place as any, even more so in the rainy season. Smiling somewhat at that fact, she hesitated a moment longer before starting a roar, low and deep at first, then getting slowly louder as she announced her presence. It was likely that she'd be chased out since most prides she'd already checked (mostly with lionesses without the ability to appear human, and thus gain some human attributes) were full of closely-knit societies of sisters, mothers, daughters, and the like. They wouldn't allow her in their pride if their lives depended on it, not wanting anything to do with a stranger like herself. She barely had any luck with her last pride, but she'd known one of the lionesses from the past, and one of the lionesses had recently died from a hyena attack. She had been old, and well, it was probably her time anyways. The male sure wasn't picky at the time, either (not like it was much for him to decide anyways).
Huffing out a sigh after finishing her "announcement", Vrou grunted and continually looked around and sniffed the air, looking out for any angered lionesses or other predators hanging about.

Kura shrugged her shoulders as she stretched out her front legs and paws. "I don't know...it could be anything or anyone..." But just at the end of her sentence, a low grunting came from the north. This was where the scent was coming from as well. "Must be another lion..." Kura growled low in her throat as she turned to face to the north. Taking in a deep breath, Kura opened her large jaws and let out an annoucement roar back. Her roar was long, loud and deep, sending a message to the stranger to stay where they were. When her roar was finished, Kura licked her muzzle and looked back at Lela. "Let's go..." Marching forward, Kura headed north towards the stranger.

Lela nodded and followed Kura, ignoring every instinct in her body that was telling her to run or move ahead of Kura. Along the way she had also managed to pick up the scent. Who could it be? Is it another male lion? She thought as they pressed forward.

Stopping her pacing as a response roar came, Vrou instantly felt a little discomfort at the somewhat distorted sound of the roar. It wasn't an average lion making that frequency, which unnerved the female a good deal. It only calmed her some that the roar wasn't as loud as a male's, but she was also aware that the male could just be with the female--or even so much as many more of the pride. Vrou sniffed at the air, finding few scents with the direction of the wind out of her favor. After a moment, she sat down, nervously twitching her tail, anxiously anticipating the arrival of the lion, or lions... or whatever they were.

Kura picked up the base when legth of time of about ten minutes had already gone by and they had not made it to the edge of the territory yet. A low grunt came from Kura's throat when her and Lela crested the top of the hill. Time had slipped by Kura as nightfall was apon them in only a short time. The sun was already begining to take it's dive behind the mountains. Kura was larger then a nomal lioness as she was half tiger, making her the same size as a normal male lion. Her stripes seemed to swim with the savana grass as Kura looked down at the stranger. Head held high, her tail swished from side to side. "Let's go, but keep on your toes..." Kura spoke in a soft but firm voice to Lela. Heading down the hill, with her long strides it only took her a few minutes to be 20 feet from the stranger. Kura let out a strong and noble grunt, her paw lifting and swiping at the grass in front of her. "Who are you and why do you tresspass on my prides territory?" Her voice was deep and loud, displease satuated her voice as her eyes met the stranger's.

Lela felt more content when Kura moved slightly faster and it settled the urge to run she had been fighting. When they stopped Lela tried to get a good look at the stranger in their territory but she could not since she has a cheetahs eyesight, which is poor at night. Sighing at this she followed Kura down the hill stopping next to her once they reached the bottom.

Lying down as the sun began to set, Vrou sighed heavily, waiting with as much patience as she could muster. As her eyes adjusted to the dark, the landscape became more settled as animals quieted down for the most part, save for the night insects and sparse noises in the distance of hyenas. She could tell they were a great distance away, so she was fine with that, but it still twinged her nerves a bit. After a few minutes longer, there was a scent in the air as the wind began to move to her favor. Fur rising on her back somewhat, the lioness rose to her paws and looked on a rise towards a rather large lion and a scrawnier lioness to its side. That was either a hybrid or a maneless male, and she didn't have much faith in encountering either. Breathing in deeply to calm herself, the fur on her back settled some, as did her position. The two came down the hill, and Vrou could tell there were, in fact, two females, but they both seemed to be hybrids. Narrowing her eyes some at this, Vrou watched them warily, ready to get out of there if they started an advance. She was sure she could outrun the bulkier of the two, and the smaller one, she figured she could beat if necessary. When the large female addressed her, Vrou's brow furrowed, but then she took a few steps back, since she was just barely in their territory, until she had just exited it by a half foot or so. "Sorry to intrude, but I have been searching for a pride to enter, if one will take me. My name is Vrou, and I've been nomadic for a while now, but it's hard to live without a pride. You can chase me out if you want, but as I'm no longer in your territory, I don't think that will be necessary."

Tsuki out of boredum decided to go back to the water and look at her reflection. It had a calming effect, and right now she could really use it. She stared at her reflection as if looking deep into her own soul. She knew that as long as she had a family, she would never be entirely sad. After a while, she went back to the pride. She found her usual spot quickly and laid down with a light huff of contentment. Tsuki sighed as she looked up at the stars and slowly drifted to a light yet restful sleep.

Cocking her head to the side, Kura listened to the female while her tail swished back and forth. Sitting down, this was a sign of relaxation in cat language. Looking down at the ground for a moment, Kura's eyes rested apon a bug that crawled up and along a piece of savana grass. When the female, named Vrou was finished, Kura nodded yawned. Her eyesight was perfect in low light and at night so she was not worried about this new female. "I understand your perdicument..." She spoke in a softer tone now, as if she was talking to her own cub. "Our male is not with us right now, he has gone off to defend our pride. I know we need more member's though." Kura's ears perked forward and a small smile came to her muzzle. "You may enter and become one of us." Standing and turning her back to the new female, Kura nudged Lela and started to walk back to the pride. This was another sign to Vrou that Kura trusted her.

Lela started to purr quietly as she sat down next to Kura. She couldn't help it. As Kura spoke she tried to get a better look at the female but her poor eyesight at night prevented her from doing so. As Kura stood up Lela did as well. She nodded at the female before turning and walking back to the pride. When she got back she laid down in her usual spot and began grooming herself. As she did this her purring grew louder. When she finished she lay her head down and closed her eyes to rest.

When the female seemed to relax, Vrou did so as well, but in the end, she was ultimately surprised that she was accepted. Sighing softly to herself with relief, the sandy-coated female followed after the two, quiet for a while so she could think on what this meant. Now she didn't have to worry about food as much, and she could have cubs again, being that the male wasn't likely to lose to a fight any time soon, and she could finally sleep without worrying about hyenas. A smile crossing her muzzle at the thought, Vrou's paws almost seemed to be weightless as she walked behind the two. When they neared the other lions (and apparently, more hybrids), Vrou's pace slowed a bit more, but she broke the silence that being consumed in her own thoughts had brought. "Might I ask... what may I call you?" she asked the larger female since the other was already off to sleep. She was still quite nervous, as she hadn't been in a pride before, and this one was full of strangers that all had one another's scents and knew each other.

When her and Lela had finally got back to the pride's sleeping area, Kura sighed and sat down. Seeing that Lela had gone off to groom herself, she knew that this was the best time for her to groom herself as well. Laying on her side, Kura started to lick her side and stomach, she could feel her cubs moving inside of her. At the sound of Vrou's voice, Kura did not look up but continued to lick her stomach and side in long strokes. "My name is Kura." Kura spoke in a gentle voice while her tail flicked back and forth. "I can see that you are not used to being around so many hybrids. Are you a pure lion then?" Kura had only met two pure lions before, she really only knew about hybrids like herself. Ear's twitching back and forth while she listened for friend, foe or prey. "I am half lion, half tiger. My spieces is called Liger. My mother was a Siberian Tiger and my father was an African Lion. Which is why I am so large and have stripes."

((actually, tigons are smaller than lions and tigers; ligers are the huge ones since they have--well, it's a gene thing---*le'dork*; what you described was a liger, anyways--typo?))
Watching as the female sat down to groom herself, Vrou sat down as well, just a few feet from her. Getting the female's name, then getting a question a moment later, the sandy-coated female sighed gently, deciding maybe she'd groom as well, since the others seemed to be doing it. "Yes, I'm a lion. Just a lion, and I haven't had the best experiences with hybrids so far. I won't judge, though, as I've spent time here and there and know a few things about not judging a book by its cover," she added a bit more solemnly. "There was a male that took over my last pride, quite easily I must add. He was even larger than you," she continued, distracted now by her thoughts too much to groom any longer. "More hybrids live around this area, so it was surprising to see one so far off." Trailing off, Vrou huffed gently. "Sorry," she apologized, expression changing as her body shifted its weight to the side. "i've never seen any hybrids in person before, save for that one. So it's almost hard to believe there's a whole pride of them."

((I can be a dork if I wanna XP ))
Kura sighed as she rolled over and started to groom her other side. "I knew a male when I was a cub that was younger then all of us, but was three time's our size. I'm most likely familular with the male you are talking about." Kura's sandpaper-like tongue grazed over her fur. She could taste the dirt and blood that was mixed into her fur. Kura knew that her cubs needed more nutirents and was concerned about having to hunt again alone. "I know it is difficult to think about a whole pride of hybrids, but as you know from experience that judging can be a harsh thing. So it's better that we band together then live apart. Our male is a full lion as well." Standing now, she shook her body and stretched out her legs. "I don't know about you, but I am pregnant and I need food for my cubs. How are you at hunting?" She knew that it would be difficult for Lela to hunt at night and Tsuki was already asleep.
