As gunfire broke out within the ship, Arianna hastened her pace ever so slightly...she may have all the time in the world but those still of mortal blood did not. And fate had decreed that this one should not be allowed to perish...not just yet.

Suddenly she was confronted by a duo of guards that instantly trained their guns on her.

"What the hell!" the first exclaimed upon seeing her, though the second managed to cut him off.

"Put your hands up." he ordered.

Arianna's eyes darkened,

"Ad Libitur..."

Slowly her hands rose but before this movement was complete she made a subtle gesture with her left hand and the guards instantly sank to the ground unconscious, their minds lulled into slumber.

"Mortals..." she uttered with disdain before continuing on, always remaining aware of the location of the human that fate had decreed to remain alive, though only until the opportune moment...

~Azure had finally reached the brige, and he could see the guards below frantically attempting to quell the fires that had over come their ship. There were guards at the door behind him and it was only a matter of time before the entire ship was destroyed. The neighborring vessles on the pier had begun to move in on the flaming vessel, aiding their fellow shipmates. He knew that soon he would have no where else to run, and searched the area for an alternate escape route. With a gunshot and a loud thud, the door swung open, and the guards began to enter the compartment.

As they entered the chamber, they noticed that Azure was no where to be found. They slowed their pace as a precaution, but remained on their guard. From his position, haning from the ceiling, Azure watched as the guard entered one after the other. He felt that if he could isolate them, he may have a chance at defeating them. He slowly reached down and shut the door behind them. From the outside of the chamber, the gunshots and screams of the guards could be heard by their comrades. The door swung open, and the guard that attempted to escape suddenly fell to the ground, the back of his neck pierced by a needle-like object. Azure had returned to his position, being sure to remain out of sight, as the next wave of guard slowly began to mve in on the compartment.~

Arianna slowly advanced upon the soldiers entering the room ahead.
A blade was now in her hand that seemed rather misplaced in this era, it was Grecian in appearance, designed with a shorter blade for swifter movements and easy balance.

It was almost to easy slipping up behind the first of the guards, as they seemed intent on their target within the room. The first guard's scream was silenced as she covered his mouth while slipping her blade Astyx in between the next to lowest vertebra of the spine to deal out a near instant kill. Carefully she let the body slip to the ground and immediately advanced upon the next target, this time choosing to deal out the blow with the swift upward cut of an upturned palm at the appropriate angle, breaking the spinal column of the guard and sending him to the ground. Though this time her stealth was compromised and finally caught the attention of those that had yet to enter the room. There were only two of them and they seemed to falter upon seeing her before perhaps the most logical or most foolish of the two pulled the trigger. It was an unavoidable shot through her left shoulder, Arianna faltered as it made contact but her grim expression turned to that of what one would deem as anger, at least in her case, for she was difficult to read as it was.
There was a subtle hiss as the wound began to seal over leaving only a few drops of blood remaining in its place as the process completed itself.
"What is God’s name…" uttered the guard that had yet to open fire.
Arianna’s expression hardened as her gaze settled on them

"Aut vincere aut mori..." she said with venom.
There was a brief report of gun fire before screams filled the hall way.

(Latin Translations- "Aut vincere aut mori..."="Either conquer or die"

~Once the screams filled the hall, Azure dropped from his place on the ceiling, and peeked his head around the corner, taking a gaze at the woman who had slain the guard. He had made no comment to her as his stare was interrupted by another explosion which shattered the windows of the bridge. It was then that he took one final gaze at her, and gave her a very peculiar salute. He then ran toward the starbord window, and leapt out of it, performing something of a swan dive, seventy feet into the bay below.~

Name~
Tristan Cyril (Thanatos)

Age~
Unknown

Race~
One of the Lost

Alignment~
Chaotic Neutral

Appearance~
User Image

Weapons~
Arion, a naginata that he was given during his former life as the entity that presided over Death.

History~
Like Arianna, Tristan is a remnant of an ancient being, though not of fate but of death; he is all that remains of the entity known as Thanatos the Greek deity of death. It was only within the last century that Tristan regained the memories of his life centuries ago and set out to find those that remain of his era and as such he finally came upon Arianna the remnant of the Fate, Atropos. He now seeks to aid Arianna in regaining the memory of her past life in order to regain control of the forces that they once commanded long ago. Tristan despises the Horsemen, for they were the entities that replaced beings like he and Atropos long ago making he and Arianna obsolete versions of their enemies, doomed to fail in their goals no matter how they try. Even so Tristan and Arianna seek to return to their former selves in order to make the prospect of retaliating against the Horsemen a more…realistic goal.

"Death is a debt which all of us must pay."
Thanatos

Arianna did not even bother in offering reply in any manner as her target, so to speak, escaped.
"Got away did he?" questioned a voice that approached from behind Arianna as the boat began to sink, the both of them ignoring the situation as a brief conversation commenced.
"Don't start Tristan" she warned icily as a dark haired man garbed in military dress approached from behind her. His clothing was not of his normal style but it had allowed him to gain access to the vessel unnoticed.

Tristan smirked as he idly put his arm around her shoulders. His cold gaze looking to where Azure had leapt off the ship "Don't worry...we accomplished our objective."

"Which was?" Arianna questioned in a frustrated manner.

"We made a memory" he replied flatly. "We may not be able to change his approaching fate...but, we can alter his future. And in doing so we move ever closer to our goal."

Arianna offered no reply to his words as a foreboding chill sank in around the area. As Tristan's eyes flared with an unearthly fire both their forms faded into the wind leaving no trace of their existence behind...

~Azure had resurfaced just in time to witness the final explosion to the vessel he had boarded. The flames illuminated the night sky and surrounding waters as he made his way toward the ship at far end of the pier. Once he was along side the ship, he boardit via the anchor chain links which were quite large. He merged within the foc'sle of the ship, there were no guards posted. The explosions had seemed to draw their attention, just as he planned. It would not be long, before the news of an intruder reached this vessel. He would have to accomplish his mission before then if he hoped to escape with his life. He slowly made his way through the ship, quietly. There were few guards posted, as they spared every availiable sailor to aid in fighting the fire. If he was lucky, most of them were killed in the explosions....of not, his chance for survival would be slim to none. None the less he would contniue toward his objective...hopefully he would emerge victorious as he had planned. ONly time would tell, and time was not in his favor.~

"What if we have misinterpreted the signs Tristan, what if this is a fool’s errand." Arianna asked from within the confines of an ancient cathedral that had seen better days. It had fallen out of use within the last century and now only Tristan and Arianna served as its occupants.
Arianna was seated in an oaken chair with a leather bound tome in her lap, the text that it held was of a dead language that was of little use to those of this era.
"You saw it yourself, there can be little doubt." Tristan replied from where he leisurely leaned against the structure's wall.
"I have no control over the premonitions Tristan, that alone should disprove their validity."
"So now the great Atropos doubts her own power." He countered.

"That is not my name…" Arianna shot back with venom. "You came to me with these fanciful claims that I am not who I thought…with nothing but your word to prove it…and I will tell you now that I still doubt your tales of grandeur."

Tristan's face creased into a frown as he stepped away from the wall and approached her. "How could you still have doubt after all the proof that I have put forth." he exclaimed as he bent down to turn the pages of the book that she held until it fell upon a faded illustration of the three Moirai; Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. The first, weaving the threads of life the second measuring them, and the third bringing about their end.

"We both serve the Cycle; we of Fate and of Death." he then took Arianna's hand and forced it to touch the worn pages of the book. "No Tristan!" she pleaded as her hand made contact with the page. Immediately she shuddered as he eyes clouded over with white, making her blind to the present but able to view the past. The ability to view time was both gift and curse to her, for she had no control of the visions, nothing more than the faintest touch could set one off leaving her at the mercy of the Sight.

Finally her amber colored eyes returned to normal as she pulled away, as if scalded and stood, throwing the book violently to the floor.

"Now you have Seen." Tristan said as he stepped back with a smirk.

Arianna looked back at him in anger, "Don't ever do that again..." she uttered with venom as she turned to leave him standing in the main hall of the cathedral alone...

~In the depths of the ships brig, the stench of blood had filled the peaways as Azure approached. He drew his blade and remained hugged against the wall as he peeked around the corner. The maons of the guard could be heard as he stepped by him. The man had warned him not to enter as his last breath left his body, Azure however, did not comply. He slwoly pushed the door open to find the guards massacred over the chambers of the brig. The bars to the cells were horribly bent while the bodies of the guard had been mutilated by something primitive it seemed. As he proceeded futher into the brig, a gruesome chomping sound has filled his senses. Upon reaching the final cell, Azure's eyes widened at the sight that lay before him.

The woman that had been dragged into the ship had been devoured by somesort of beast. A beast that now turned its sights on Azure. It looked like a man, but its eyes were glowing a bloo red. Its skin was a deep gray and its body seemed to be composed of rotted flesh. As it stood, it seemed to sway back anf forth as if it were struggling to keep its balance. It was then that Azure was contacted by his superiors. Before he could answer however, the beast's arms screthed out to grab him. It s strength was incredible as it attempted to pull Azure through the very bars of the cell. Azure, instinctively raise dhis blade to cut the arm of the beast, severring it from its home with the rest of its flesh. Once he was released, he watched as the beast began to walk through a rather large hole in the cell. The cell next to him had been broken and Azure did not wish to stay around to become the next meal of the beast.

He quickly fled th scene, and dogged down the door behind him. It was them that the beast began to beat at the door, each strike almost knocking it off of the hinges. While he was holding the door in place, Azure took the time to answer his superiors.~

Azure. Have you made contact with the client?

She's dead.

What do you mean dead?

Just that. She's dead. She was killed by some type of canibal....he's not normal.

I see......So it is just as we expected.

WHAT WAS THAT!?!

Nevermind that. Eliminate the canibal, and any others like it. We will leet you at the rendevous point. Do not be late, less you desire to suffer a similar fate.

You can't be serious. eek

You have your orders.

Dammit. stressed Now what?

~Azure took a moment to examine his surroundings. There was nothing he could have used to aid him in this particular situation. He stared at the ladder for sometime, before he took off running toward it. He quickly grabbed hold of it as the creature continued to bang at the door. He had already made it up the ladder once the creature burst through the door, sending it hurling into the ladder and collapsing the ladder completely. Azure hid behind a corner as the beast's arms stretched upward allowing it to grab hold of the ledge and pull itself up. Once it stood, Azure plunged his blade into its torso, only to be met by its fist.

Azure was sent crashing into the wall behind him as the beast slowly began to walk toward him, disregarding the blade impaled in its torso altogether. Azure, as crafty and cunning as usual drew a second blade from its sheathe. He watched as the beasts arms extened once again. This time, Azure had took a charge toward the beast itself this time swinging his blade upwards targetting its head. The attack complely split the creature in two, its body falling to the ground. Azure then retrieved his first balde, and returned them both to their home in his sheathe. As he went to exit the chamber, he took one final glance at the beast on the floor and had the distinct pleasure of watching the two halves regenerate themselves. There were now two of the beasts to deal with, and Azure was not int he mood to deal with another. He quickly exitted the peaway and found himsel fback inthe hangar of the ship. It was there that he took cover behind a pallet of rations as he contemplated his next action.~

As Tristan stood alone within the monolithic structure of the cathedral he turned his head to the side as if he heard a distant sound. He then stood normally, the frail ghost of a dry smirk crossing his lips as he glanced to where Arianna had departed to and set off to follow her. She may only be a tool of his but he could not afford to have the seer in a state of discontent, especially not with him. He had to maintain control if she was to be any use to him in dealing a blow to the horsemen. This was difficult to maintain as he knew that if she was granted the memories of her past life that Atropos would not stand for his petty meddling in the workings of Fate, and yet he needed her remember enough to control her abilities and to trust him to an extent.

He immediately replaced his expression with a more somber one as he entered the upper floor of the temple. He found Arianna in one of her more favored sections of the structure, a small alter at a partially shattered window.
Her head was set in her hands as it seemed that she had been besieged by yet another premonition, yet it seemed that Tristan was already privy to the situation.
"What have you seen?" he questioned.
"The one we were following...he may still be in danger." she replied in a whisper.

"The creatures are not beyond him." Tristan replied knowing well what had been hidden within the lower holds of the ship.

"You should go." she replied flatly. "We can not afford mistakes."

Tristan merely nodded at her words before turning to leave.

~Azure had found himself on the flightdeck of the ship. He was surrounded by these strange creatures as he struggled to fight them off. He was running out of options. It seemed that the more he slain, the more of them had appeared. If there was a way to destroyed the beasts he would have to find it soon. As he continued to fight of the beasts, he noticed a particular red mark on his chest. Before he could react to the sight, he screamed out in pain, as the echo of gunfire filled the air. He dropped to his knees as he recognized the sound of the weapon used against him. It was a standard issue riffle used by the guild in which he served. It had become apparent that this whole mission had been a set up from the start.~

~~~A few Hours Prior~~~
Elder 1: That Dragon Child is growing beyond our control.
Elder 2: Yes. His progress has been most benificial, altough his behavior is slowly regressing to the savage nature of the Dragons themselves.
Elder 3: He must be dealt with..before he betrays us.
Elder 2: Yes. His presence will eventually destroy everything we have created.
Elder 3: I will send Chakasha to perform the kill.
Elder 1: So be it. Just make sure it is done tonight.....Ah. Azure. We have been expecting you.
~~~Present~~~

~As Azure clutched his chest in pain, he found himself running toward the island. He noticed that several of the creatures had begun fighting amongst themselves as they made their way toward him. It seemed as though they were fighting over a meal that had not yet been slain. Once he reached the island he looked at his chest and could tell that the ammunition used against him was that of a special brand. One that was specific for slaying dragons. His sniper would have had to be somewhere high above him to execute such an attack. As the cretures begunto pound on the door behind him, Azure had begun to make his way up the ladders, until he reached the highest part of the ship...the bridge. Upon enterring the bridge, he was met with an additional gunshot, but the bullet had just missed him as his sniper had finally shown herself.~

Well. Here you are. I was wondering how ling it would take you to get here. Though I'm surprised the wound didn't finish you on the way.

Chakasha. I'm insulted.

What was that?

I've known the elders were planning to kill me for some time, and yet, they send the weakest link in the guild to finish me off? Pathetic.

Are you insane? Look at you. You're not even human, and have the nerve to insut me? Your very sight irritates me.

Good. But you wil not have to worry about that too much longer.

Is that a threat? You are quite the deluded one. You're about to kill over. You can't even lift the blades at your side.

Of course I can. twisted

~It was then that Azure quickly drew one of his throwing knives, and launched it at Chakasha. He then began to run along the side of the room, as the knife made contact with her right hand...her shooting hand. He then drew his dagger and sped toward her, lunging the dagger in her chest, as she reached for a smaller handgun. As she hit the ground, shepulled the trigger, its semi-automatic fire releasing three round into his abdomen. Both of their bodies hit the floor, but Azure was the only one still moving. His body twitching as he slowly stood from the floor. He tried to walk away from the woman, but he stumbnled to his feet, his body had seemed to reach its limit. He could hear the groans of the creatures growing closer as they slowly made their way up the stairs. He searched for the door to the weather deck, that would be the only way he could make his escape. It was outside the bridge.

Slowly he pushed his body beyond its limits, making his way toward the hatch as the beasts grew closer. Once he reached the door, he opened it, slowly, his strength slowly leaving his body as he exitted the peaway. He did not bother to shut the door behind him, as the creatures finally reached the level in which he had been hiding. They found Chakasha's body first, and the first waves of the creatures swarmed around her, devouring her flesh in a frenzy that could be described by no words known to man. The next wave made their way to the weather deck after Azure, as he reached the edge of the deck. He could only smile at the hideous creatures that stalked him, as his body finally gave out, allowing him to slide over the railing, falling almost two hundred feet into the waters of the bay below.~
PostPosted: Sun Aug 06, 2006 4:37 pm

Tristan had found his target's unconscious body adrift at the edges of the bay with little difficulty.
He had managed to heal what wounds there were on him easily enough, though Arianna was more gifted in those arts, he would have preferred for her to come alonge as well but he had most certainly crossed what boundaries there were in forcing the premonition on her.

It was a dangerous game...playing with fate. He had known the risks well enough when he had gone searching for the three Moirai sisters. Though he soon found that two of the three had long since passed beyond Life, leaving only the third of their number behind.

He would have preferred to come upon either of the other two more forgiving sisters; Clotho and Lachesis...but instead he had found Atropos...the unwavering, as she was once known, he thought grimly to himself as he nonchalantly wiped away what blood that had stained his hands from healing Azure's wounds, using a cloth he had drawn from his jacket. But instead of tossing it away he carefully folded it and pocketed it. Such things would be of use when one had a seer in their company.

When he was certain that Azure would indeed survive Tristan turned to leave, unaware that the target had recovered sooner than he had anticipated...

~Azure had suddenly gotten to his feet, still on the alert after the event of his horrifying experience. Judging by where he had found himself, and the fact that the shipyard was nowhere to be seen, he conculded that he had drifted some distance away from the peir. The sun was beginning to set once again, suggesting that he had been unconscious for some time. He caught a glimpse of a man who seemed to be walking away from him, and reached for his blade...only to find them several feet away from him. He stood and walked over to his weapon, picking them up and placing them back in their sheathes, but not taking his hand off of the hilts. He addressed the man in a calm yet assertive tone as he readied hismelf for whatever attack may befall him if any at all.~

You...who are you? Where have you brought me?
PostPosted: Sun Aug 06, 2006 5:28 pm

Tristan paused only briefly in his stride, "My name is of no importance..." he answered, in a similar fashion to Azure's tone. "I'm a merely an observer...nothing more..."

He then began to walk away once again, his departing words cold and calculated. "Besides...the next time we meet I doubt you will remember anything at all...let alone a nameless watcher."

As he said this, the wind took on a subtle chill and hastened its pace, seeming to warp Tristan's form like shattered glass does light, until his body dissipated into their air. He did not care to hide what he was to Azure, Tristan knew well enough that all to soon Azure would know exactly what he and Arianna were.

~As the man disappeared into nothingness, Azure could not help the feeling that he had seen this man before. He did not know where, or why, but the aura this man emitted was none that he had ever felt. Before he could stop and think about how he survived, his thoughts were interrupted by an obvious truth...the elders had sent him on that mission in hopes that he would be killed in action. He did not know why, but he had been marked for death, and he played right into their trap...and survived. He knew that he would have been hunted down until they had confirmation of his death. He would not allow this to happen. This treachery, this betrayal must not go unpunished.

Azure soon found himself overcome by rage. It was a rage so great that he could barely contain it. The water behind him had suddenly begun to boil as he looked toward the night sky above. The determination in his eyes showed that his mind was made up. He would not give them the pleasure of hunting him. No. Instead, he would retaliate for their failed assassination. They had drawn first blood, and he would make sure that they never lived to attempted another attack on his person. Yes. The thought of their blood coverring his blades exicted him as he began to walk to the East. He would celebrate his surival with their demise.~
