My cold horns I know the white Hart though real, is often surrounded by myth and legend; tales told to children so they behave, or tales told to royalty so that the act brave and true. They are white but not albino, their eyes often black as night or as blue as the sea; perhaps green as the grassy fields of my homeland. In truth the Hart is as skittish as any deer; yet because of their white coloring they often are more easily spotted by enemies and should they grow to be adult, soon learn that they tougher than most deer’s and able to run faster and further because of everything that chased it in its life.
I think I am close to this animal because it is often pushed away from the herd, deer will find if different and it will be cast out; though some may accept it other would not. They toughen up as they grow older, and that is what I have had to learn to do. Life is hard when you are different, and this deer knows it for it is hunted by man, as I feel I am when surrounded by people in masks.

My frozen voice Arctic wolves live in the most frozen place in the world and one of the few left where no human dares to tread. They can live weeks without food and are almost always in darkness. They will have small packs, family they keep close. They will kill anything they can catch and eat everything from its bones to its fur. They are fiercely loyal to family and protect and feed their cubs with their lives.
I think my daemon shows this animal because of how I care greatly for children, finding them easy to get along with because of their open minds and east attitudes, the world has not left its mark on them. Thinking of it I would do almost everything for a kid, but I would do more if it were my own. These wolves are special, and in some cases they even will take in a lost pup as their own; as I would gladly do should I find one.

My frosted pelt The Arctic Fox lives in some of the worst areas in the world, they have keen ears to find and hear the smallest of sounds. Its fur is the warmest in every mammal, even from the polar bears and arctic wolf. They are quiet remorseful creatures, easily dodging and moving from danger while snagging scraps of food. The can dig quickly even through sheets of ice to shelter from storms or simply rest and sleep.
My daemon takes this form because just like the fox I can live off almost everything and I have. Since young I have taken care of myself, able to find my own food and work for money with little difficulty. I crossed half the world alone and then back again to some place I have only heard about once. This and the fact I hardly find myself getting cold; many will wear heavy clothing while I can wear shirts in snow with no problem. I am quick and keen of hearing, ready for anything.

My snow claws Snow leopards are known for thick fur that spots beautiful spots; large paws the heft its weight over the snow, and a large tail helping them to keep balance. They are elusive and distant to people, unwilling to show themselves to man and unwilling to be tamed to any length unlike a lion they do not roar and do not make a sound but a purr to their young.
Like me, this snow cat does not like humans, finding it a hassle to socialize they will leave to their own devices and kittens will play among rocks and ice chunks. They refuse to be tamed like their other feline relatives, never before has it been seen a snow cat leaping through a hoop of fire for a show. They are strong in their own way, they do not flaunt it with wide manes or brightly colored fur, instead they hide and watch; listen as the world moves, just as I.

Why the wolf?
Looking at Din he is an arctic wolf now; an animal who lives for days in darkness and who can go weeks without food, is this really my daemon? They travel in packs of two and up to twenty has been seen, this does not sound like me at all; no matter that I love wolves I cannot ever see myself as a pack animal yet I know I sometimes go out of my way to seek someone to simply be around, though no longer now that I have Din. A wolf as a pup depends solely on their mother, I guess that was me; without her I doubt I would be as healthy as I am, but still I only needed her until I learned to walk and talk; after that I was helping her instead; and I cannot see myself carrying for family members so closely as other wolves do.
No, I would let the kid be alone; to sort itself out since that would be what makes it strong. I like children and if I saw one crying I would help it out, but I wouldn’t watch it and see that it keeps itself safe. Also, despite them being wolves; dogs are still animals that serve and even a wolf can be trained to pull a cart as I saw in my travels of the north. I will never serve someone; I do things for my own and to see my side something that is close to a dog, I feel as if perhaps I am kicking myself. I am no dog, so I do not think I am a wolf; loyal or not a dog is to slow though a wolf much faster and with the wild spirit I think I have myself; a wolf is not it.
I have seen a lone wolf before; it was sickly and thin, depressed and so fearful of me it was foaming at the mouth while it snarled and its tail was tucked under its stomach; I will not be doing that!

And if not the wolf?
I have been looking up animals, many come to mind when I think of myself and the list is so large it’s hard to decide if perhaps I got any of them wrong. Polecat, American mink, Serval, Cacomistle, Fossa, Tiger, Black Jaguar, Jaguar, leopard, Snow leopard, Clouded leopard. All of these animals have a love for solitary and many though large, have a good knack for hiding but then many I have here are small and are even better at hiding. They stay not only away from others of their kind, but humans and to me that is what I try to do. These animals are all feline like and its well know you can never make a cat do what you want unless it wants to.
I know that this list is odd and many of the animals are so far from what a wolf is; yet I think they match me better, but then how could I know what it is I am or am not, I cannot look into my soul to see what path it will take and walk beside me with. Still, I hope to have something with teeth and claws, soft fur and something I can hug, no matter how odd that may seem to other people I think my daemon is my greatest friend and family I have left, but then he is I in another wrapper.
I cannot list all the reasons for each of these animals for how long would that take, but a Serval, a Fossa, and Clouded leopard match me the best of my thought up list; however a Mink and Pole cat does as well. Small creatures I feel would be more like me; for the smaller you are the more you have to fight and that is what I feel is just me.

These new animals?
The Fossa is slender and long in body; it eats pretty much any animal it can get its claws and teeth into. They move quickly and fast to go around people and it makes it hard for anyone to know what they do or what their up to; sort of makes it hard for me to know why the ring to my soul when I see them. Still, seeing them mess around and hunt I watch as their eyes take in everything at one before zeroing on what they want, food; shelter, or a leaf or stick they found to be interesting for the moment.
The black footed ferrets live alone and only come together to breed, that does not all to sound like something I would do; but then these little balls of fur are quiet playful and when not in the wild they stay together in pairs and often rough house and play. They love to hide things, shiny objects and things that make noise are a great attraction to them. No matter how tamed a ferret of any sort it, they will still bite and attack if they feel threatened. They live off of eating prairie dogs, I find that odd since they are bigger than the ferrets but that just means they are tough and skilled.
The clouded leopard is a surefooted creature that has no problem moving about limbs of trees or rocky surfaces, even when young and when first coming out of dens they can be viewed as taking of like a duck in water. With a tail as long as its body and their a balance is great but if that tail is cut or broken the animal is slow to change but after a few weeks then it will be back to climbing and jumping with much ease. These animals can climb upside down even. These cats are known nothing of their wild habits, only when they are captured have anyone been able to study them, perhaps that is me.
Serval are very smart cats and tend to understand that humans can help them, but also how smart they are tends to get them in a bit of trouble a good deal of the time. Also a Serval from Sabi Sand would look fluffy because of its thicker fur while one from the more southern reaches of Africa will have a sleeker look. These cats were breed and tamed in Egypt long ago, the Egyptians worshiped them and used the cats for mousers which they are very good at. They are quiet sweet tempered but can suddenly grow angry and attack because of a bad mood. Most of the time these cats are simply calm and watchful for something to do.
Then there are still the Arctic fox, the white Hart, and the snow leopard I had seen in my daemon before; will they show again or will these new ones, or something else; oh how hard it is to tell!
