"I know, darlin'," Faolan said, giving Rhian a weak smile as he let her tug him inside, his father's hand on his back pushing a little. He didn't want to tell any of them how scared he was at the whole event. He was supposed to be the strong one right now, right? The rock for Elle to cling to during this. He didn't feel very rock-like, though.

Rhian smiled brightly and patted Faolan's arm. "Don't worry, Faolan! Mama and the bies will be fine, and you'll get to have a nice big family soon!" Truthfully, the flutterby was very worried about hw Faolan was handling this - it seemed he needed support as much or more than Ellandra did. Well, she supposed she could give him that. He needed it, after all. She couldn't help in many ways, but she could at least try to help him calm down a little. She started to hum soothingly, basically just trying to block off a little of Faolan's fear - not all, she knew it wouldn't be right to shut that off completely - but dimming it, and amplifying the slight bit of excitement he felt, all the while sending calming feelings as much as she was able.
Rhian was no magicker, but this was her field, her purpose. And in this, at least, she could do well.

Faolan nodded to the Essentic, glad that she was trying to cheer him up and aware she was using her abilities. He put a hand on her head, ruffling her hair. "It's alright, little 'un. I know all tha' already. It's normal t' be nervous an' all durin' this." He sighed following the nurse through to Ellandra's room, Keagan and Zia trailing behind.
Zia reached up to put a hand on its owner's back. "This won't be like the other times, Faolan. It'll turn out right." Behind the young Alter, Keagan winced a bit.
"He's reet, boy. Ain't nothin' there t' stop th' bairns from bein' born this time," the old man said and moved out into the hallway.
The young man didn't really hear them, his focus on his wife as he moved to be by her side. Gently, Faolan took her hand in his. "I know you hate me right now, lass, but I'm still here fae you an' th' bairns. I'm not gaen anywhere."

Mean attitude currently gone due to a break in the pain, and fear at being taken away from Faolan, Ellandra reached for her husband with a whimper, needing more than just a hand-hold at the moment. "I - I don't hate you, Faolan. . . . I - I'm scared..." This moment didn't last long, however, before another pain set in and she was once again spilling out death threats to the man who had put her in this position.
Rhian had not a clue what Ziazan meant by "the other times", but she could tell it wasn't a good thing. She peeked in the room at Ellandra, but went back into the hall as soon as the brunette got angry again. It was much too strange for her to see her Mama acting like this. . . and it felt rather intrusive to be there, anyway.

Faolan just sighed, ignoring the threats. He looked up the nurse that came in to check on Ellandra. "Can you do somethin' fae th' pain? Or maybe ask th' doc t' come check on her, eh?"
The nurse just gave him a withering look, clearly not a fan of didikai people, and went about her duties. The young man frowned and stepped after her, taking hold of her arm. "Oi! I'm talkin' at you. Me wife is in pain. Do somethin' fae her."
"Sir, I can assure you that what she's feeling is normal. She's not ready yet for the doctor to see her. Try giving her some ice chips and talking to her to distract her from the pain," the nurse said, brushing his hand away before seeing to the rest of her patients.
Faolan frowned after her. "Bloody outsiders." He walked back in to Ellandra and looked down at her, then sat on the bed and took her hand again. "I donnae know what t'do fae you, girl. I ne'er really got this far th' other times. They're not gonna let th' weans in here, so Rhian cannae help an' neither ccan Zia. You gotta trust me, Elle, tha' everythin' will go right. Remember what th' cards said."

Ellandra made a face at the nurse an dgrabbed the cup of ice chips, throwing them at her as she left. "No-one snubs you but me," she said to Faolan, before the pain distracted her again. She certainly wasn't feeling well at the moment, and yes she was rather. .. er, angry, at Faolan for being the cause of all this discomfort, but neither did she appreciate him getting treated like that for just asking a question.

Faolan stroked Ellandra's hair, giving a lop-sided grin. "Aye, lass. Only you an' Da are allowed t' belittle an' abuse me." He rested a hand on her belly. "I hope it's soon, Elle. I donnae like seein' you in so much pain an' I cannae help you."
In the hallway, Keagan was sitting on a bench, one long leg stretched out, the other resting so Zia could sit on the man's knee. The young Essentic watched nurses and doctors rush by, sometimes with patients, sometimes alone. It looked back at the old man, frowning. "How come the doctor hasn't seen Mama yet?"
"These things take time, lad. Just because she's in labor doesn't mean th' bairns are gaen t' come out reet away. It takes time fae them t'be born. Waitin' is the worst part o' it," Keagan sighed, ruffling the Essentic's feathery hair. He looked at Rhian. "How're you holdin' up, lassie?"

Ellandra closed her eyes, wishing it were possible to just.... sleep through the pain or something. "It. . . probably won't be. Not when it's my first time," she said quietly, not in a mood to murder him for the moment, at least.
Rhian blinked and looked over at Keagan from where she was sitting, a few chairs away. "I'm fine, mister Keagan," she said, not sure in the least why he was asking her. After a mment she returned to what she had been doing - contemplating her gloved hands idly.

"Ne'er know, wife. One could push th' other out," Faolan said, trying to cheer her up. "If'n I could gae through this fae you, I would. You know that."
Keagan sighed and motioned for Rhian to come over. "Come here, lass. Sit wi' your family, eh? You can call me Granda, same as your brother."

"You'll get to next time," Ellandra grumbled, squeezing his hand tightly as another pain hit her.
Surprised, Rhian came over and sat down as instructed, grabbing her windup key and starting to play with it. "I'm sorry I sat so far away, Mister Keagan," she said. Somehow calling him "Granda" or any variation of the term just didn't sit right with her; she didn't know if she was really supposed to be calling him soething like that or not. So instead, she fell quiet again after her apology.

"Ah, Elle, easy there on me hand, love. I need tha' fae me job," Faolan said, wincing at her grip. He looked like a kicked puppy for the most part, not sure really what to do for her and guilty for being the cause of her pain.
Keagan rested an arm around the Essentic's shoulders. "It's alreet, lass. I'm sure this be all new fae you both. I'm here fae you, though, you an' Zia. You two ain't alone."

Ellandra grumbled something under her breath and let go of his hand for the moment, instead choosing to scowl at her belly. "Hurry up already!"
Rhian blinked and scooted away from Keagan's arm a bit. "Nothing's wrong, Mister Keagan, so I'm not worried. This was supposed to happen." And why was he trying to comfort her now, anyway? He used to just call her "bug" on the occasions he saw her. Rhian hoped the babies would arrive quickly so that everyone could go home soon.

Faolan just chuckled. "Easy, girl. Just try an' relax. Please." He took hold of her hand and kissed it. "I'm sorry, Elle. Wouldnae wanted babies if'n I knew it'd be so hard on you."
"Now, wean, I know you're worried. W' all are," Keagan said, but gave up trying to comfort the Essentic. He looked at Zia still perched on his knee. "How're you holdin' up, laddie?"
The Alter shrugged. "I want the doctor to hurry up and get the babies delivered. I'm ready to meet my siblings."

Ellandra sighed. "I want our babies, Faolan, it just - I owwwww owwww owww you're never touching me again!" Well, so much for what might have been a soft and touching moment between the parents to be. Those would have to wait until later, it seemed.
Rhian shrugged. "Maybe a little, but I know Mama will be all right," she said, going over to a snack machine and staring idly at it for a few moments. She wasn't hungry, it just. . . got her away from Ziazan an Mister Keagan for a bit. She was thinking about what Ziazan had just said - its siblings. Rhian had never thought of the coming babies like that. Her siblings were the other Essentics, Mama was Mama, yes, but the rest of that family. . . .well, she wasn't really a part of it, was she?

The young man's ears drooped down. He was suddenly glad there were two beds in their home, his wife certainly seemed like she'd need her space and then some after this. "I'm sorry, Elle."
Zia tilted its head a little. "Rhian, are you alright?"
