Yep.
The only reason I go there is for their amazing arts program, though. Otherwise I'd totally be out of there.

I've gone to catholic schools all my life... my parents think I should be getting better than whatever they got... it's hell. Seriously it's crazy. Drives me mad.

That's interesting, are they making you go there for the strict discipline or the religious aspects?

I think religious aspects. I've been going all my life that I'm just used to it now. To be honest, I hate it.

You said you went for the arts...but do you like it at all?
PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:38 am

I do like their arts program and the fact that the school is relatively safe compared to the public schools in my area.
I don't like everything else. I get really good grades, though, so even if I did want to transfer (like last year) they wouldn't let me.

Meh, Catholic School or public school, choose your poison I guess. lol
I only got to see one side of it before I started online courses.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2009 8:33 pm

I do agree. It is safe compared to public schools. But I hate how they press religion on me... and the classes are... crazy for me. I get the insane teachers while my friends would always get easy, funny teachers.

At my school, it's all guys. Straight guys are all over... and they're all quite homophobic. I swear, there are no gay guys here at all. Plus, this senior year, I'll have to avoid everyone I used to hang out with... broke up with my boyfriend (formerly a friend) - everyone sided with my ex and ditched me.

I mean, it is fine... I just... can't explain it properly. I've gone to these schools all my life... they have their pros and cons I guess

They wouldn't let you transfer?! That's so odd... You should have a right to if your tuition payments are up to date... at least that's what I think...

Pros: safe, quality education, etc.

Cons: lotsa money involved, equipment might be outdated, lack of people, etc.

I can go on and on, if it were day out, I could think more about it. Double-edged sword I guess, eh Nyzz?

Well, yanno, they don't call it Catholic school for nothing. A lot of my classmates aren't Catholic, though. Most are Christian [different denominations of Protestantism and Agnostics] but a few are Atheists like me or members of entirely different religions such as Hinduism, which makes it bearable. Besides, some of their church stuff is just plain hilarious, you gotta admit.
My school's all girls, and there are plenty of lesbians and bisexuals. They're often scary hoes, though, and I don't really hang around them much except for the one girl who happens to be one of my best friends. My school is basically split into two groups of people: the girls who get sent there by their parents in hopes that they won't get pregnant, and girls who go there for the actual academics. Drama is horrendous. There's way too much of it, but I've managed to stay mostly out of it.
My efforts to transfer were complicated, it wasn't just the school, though.

I just started school today. And I like it better than the summer. How odd.

I went to a private Christian school for third grade. But it was really weird. We only went to school three days a week, with us homeschooling ourselves for the other two days. We'd turn in work and such on the days we were actually in school. We were a bunch of third graders teaching themselves twice a week. o.O

True, true. Most in my school are Catholic, though. I have known a few Protestants, and yes, there are Hindus in my school as well. Quite diverse, but for the most part those kids went there for the sake of academics.

There's only a few openly gay kids at my school. I don't really hang out with them though because they are stereotypical flamers...even though I am gay, I'm not that... flamboyant with it. Rainbows? ******** it, just gimme something black.

Yes, some of it is quite funny, I had a priest for a religion teacher freshman year that was flat out racist and made a mockery of the Bible. To top it all off, he'd give us Asher's chocolates in the class at the end!!! It was a very interesting class, but unfortunately, he's gone, apparently because he was accused of molesting a kid some years ago elsewhere... which I believe is a total lie...which is a shame... the funny priests are always the ones that do it... D:

I also had an entertaining religion teacher sophomore year, who emphasized Carpe diem and literally was like the one teacher Robbin Williams played in The Dead Poet Society.

I could go on and on with teachers. For groups, many just split up into interests. There are plenty of preps and jocks over here, a handful of stoners, and I'm the only goth out of all that. Oh well. Many of us were sent here, but that was for quality education and just to keep up tradition. Others got athletic scholarships, and others have parents that want them to pursue a very fruitful career, and believe they can start here.

Drama? Oh tell me about it. There's quite a lot of it here. I do my best to stay out of it, to get involved in that... it'll get to you eventually.

D:
Doesn't matter whether you're involved or not, drama will get to you no matter who or where you are.

I'm actually pretty well respected at my school. I have come to be known as that punk rocker/goth kid recently turned kandi raver, and I'm always wearing something crazy on dress-down days. Most of my teachers love me because of my attention to academics, but there are those who just think I'm weird. I'm okay with that, I'd rather be weird than boring. My art teacher, she told me the other day that she's going to kill me if I don't go to fashion design school because I make a lot of my clothing. I've made it a point not to give the people who gossip much to talk about other than that, though.

It will, but still, you gotta try to stay out of it though...

Well respected? My mom's position as principal's secretary helps maintain my position. But as the only goth/Visual kei kid at school, I've been respected to openly speaking out about it... hell even singing Japanese songs in class XD (not that I care, it's fun smile ) But anyway I am kinda respected because of my mom for the most part, also for what people I know and many also respect me for not caring what others think. On dress down days I'm found purely in black, donned in a leather jacket, tripp pants with chains on them, arm warmers, black nail polish and eye liner, and armored rings. (Many have never seen them before)

You make your own stuff? I envy you for that skill. I have limited access to gothic clothing, so I usually am stuck mixing and matching black pieces of clothing found at department stores or the mall, heck, I can't even find anything good available at the moment from fashion lines like Moi-meme-Moitie. I never was much of a sewer, I guess it's too late to learn now... I'd so love to do that though...

I first learned to sew when I was a little kid, and practice has made me very good at it [but still not as good as my mother]. Whenever I show up in something new everyone always asks me about it and tries to get me to make them stuff.

Still, you're lucky... you can make your own stuff... I'd love to do that... and maybe make a profit... I also could make something stylish that I couldn't find online anywhere else too. smile

Still... that'd be awesome. Much better than getting a job at the grocery store. biggrin
