i dont know what u guys have been smoking (.... well, i guess were all guitarists, so probably pot), but the greatest solo ever is the first one on seize the day- avenged sevenfold. when i hear that solo for the first time, i cryed XP

I second that pot part.

Yeah, I've been smoking too mrgreen

I went to the same music school as the guitarist from avenged sevenfold. Decent soloing and production, but nothing that special as far as guitar playing is concerned. Kind of like Dragonforce, just a lot of studio magic!

Beat It from Micheal Jackson (It is played by Eddie Van Halen in case anyone didn't know.) It just matches the song.

Yeah, that is a very cool solo! Check out this version of the beat it solo live with Greg Howe on guitar.

To make it even crazier, he is even wearing Jennifer Batten's wig!!! She was the normal guitarist on some of Michael Jackson's tours (check out both Greg Howe and Jennifer Batten of you haven't heard them, they are amazing!!!).

Anything by Cynic. Really. Their solo's are amazing.

As well as any solo by Michael Romeo (Symphony X).

And Syu (Glorious Aggressor by Galneryus is an amazing instrumental keytar/guitar solo track)

Most Versailles solo's.

Allan Holdsworth definitely.

There's a bunch of guitarist's that I cba to name right now.

I would have to agree, Stairway's solo is pretty awesome...Heartbreaker's isn't bad either. Those are probably my two favorite Zeppelin songs.

True, I would have to agree too. The Stairway to heaven solo is awesome! Heartbreaker is cool too! but I also have to agree on Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.

Page screws up too much live to make me enjoy their performances. I love the band, and Page is a great guitarist. But he's just too drunk live to play well.

I love All Along the Watchtower as well! Check out this video of Shawn Lane covering it! He plays all the Hendrix solos and adds his own technical flair at the end. I really dig it.
