Chapter 6: When paths cross once again... (cont.)

*missing post by Zev of his realizing Rynn has dissapeared and then his escape from the city

The first thing Asinity glimpsed, as he strode into the city of Silvermoon, was a man running into a woman and knocking her onto the ground. The two began to scuffle with each other, the woman trying to chain the man's hands with shackles. As quickly as he could, Asinity strode over with a frown, to see if he could break up whatever was going on. When he approached, the woman caught a glance of him and shot her finger out, pointing at him for a brief second.

"Give me a hand, sir! Please!" She pleaded, her attention distracted by the rogue under her smaller frame. Liliana grabbed at the other's shoulders, attempting to disarm him as he struggled against her as if she were some minor annoyance. She glanced back down and continued to try to subdue him, hoping to protect the rest of the citizens of Silvermoon. "You are not going anywhere," the guardian began, "...not until you tell me what happened. We heard the screaming, -high- elf."

"Let go of me! I need to get out of here!" Zevron struggled with the guard, he had to find a way out, to find a way to track down Rynn before it was too late. He kicked himself for leaving her without protection. "She is in danger! Let me go!"

"Z-Zev? Is that you?" Asinity interrupted, wondering what the heck was going on.

The rogue's ears perked and he sighed after a moment, looking over at the familiar paladin, his expression somewhat crestfallen. "Hey Asinity..." This was the last thing he wanted. He was sure that the paladin would want him to stick around and to hear the full story. Every moment that ticked away Zev was sure that his chances of finding the warlock was slowly slipping away.

Asinity raised his gaze, looking around the immediate area as quickly as he could. Luckily, no other guardians had been alerted, nor any blood knights. Perhaps this woman was the only one that had caught Zevron, for whatever he did. Asinity glanced back down at the rogue and gave an offhanded nod towards the gate. His eyes shifted upon the woman, who was now looking back up at him with a frown.

"Asinity? Daes'vega? My apologies, sir, I did not recognize you." She spoke, and bowed her head quickly. Liliana had heard many stories about the respected paladin but had never had a chance to meet him. She was a little awed in his prescence but did not forget why she was there.

"What's he done, my lady?" The paladin asked. It was obvious that Zevron needed to get out of there but he wanted to be sure that the trouble he was in was not of his own doing.

"This rogue is a prime suspect. There was screaming in the house of Delnaria. Two elves went in, he was one of them, but he was the only one to leave." Liliana reached to grab the collar of Zevron's leather chestpiece, but Asinity motioned for her to hold, and held out his own hand towards the rogue. Obliging after a moment of confusion, the woman moved back slightly, still keeping a tight hold of his arm just in case. She seemed to want to keep at least some level of control over the situation.

"What happened, Zev?" Asinity asked, with a frown. He watched as Zev knocked his hand away, preferring to stand on his own, brushing himself off. There was something big going on here, he was sure of it, but he needed to get the details first. The paladin looked between the two elves before looking off towards the Troll's house, noticing the door was still open, a few pieces of furniture broken inside of the archway.

"Look, I was coming here with Rynn, to see Malis..." The rogue began, giving the woman a look. "I left the room for about a minute, and the next thing I know, Rynn is screaming. I ran back, but they were gone when I got there. Both of them." He gave a shrug, it was the true and did not need any embellishing. That and he was sure that Asinity was more likely to believe him that way.

The woman was not convinced. "A likely story. Two people don't just 'disappear'..." She started forward but the paladin interrupted her.

"Screaming?" He asked Zevron, watching him curiously.

Zevron rolled his eyes in annoyance. "As if that's the strangest thing in Azeroth or something...Yes, screaming." He wished the guardian could just get off his case so that he could get going. Tapping the buckle of his belt in impatience, he eyed the pile of belongings that had been torn off him. His knives had been carelessly tossed onto the ground beside him and he clenched his fist tight as a surge of anger went through him at the disregard of his blades.

Asinity opened his mouth to speak, but the woman put herself between them and jabbed a finger at Zevron. "If that was the case, why did you injure so many guards on your fight out of the city, ruffian?" She glared at the rogue. Gently, Asinity put a hand on the woman's shoulder and frowned, gesturing for her to move aside. Flustered as the woman was, she obliged, but Zevron could still feel the daggers that were being stared into him from her.

"The guards wouldn't let me out, and I needed to go. To find her." Zevron stated plainly, turning to Asinity, giving up on the guardian. He hoped that the paladin would see reason, not like this daft woman who seemed a little too eager to place him behind bars.

"Did she sound in pain, Zev?" The paladin asked.

"More...surprise, and shock. Not really pain." Zevron answered. Now things seemed like they were moving, he took a small step away from the guardian, hoping that she wouldn't notice. If he could find a window of opportunity, Asinity being there or not, he was going to make a dash for it. As soon as he left the city walls there'd be no stopping him.

Asinity clicked his tongue against his teeth, pensively. "And they were -both- gone?" The paladin have a good idea of what had happened at this point but needed to check on a few things.

"Yes." Zevron snapped. "Now can I go? I need to figure out where they are." He took a few more steps away. Carefully inching towards the pile of his belongings. The rogue was upset that he'd have to leave most of his blades behind but there was no way he'd leave his hooked knives behind.

The armored woman growled at the rogue. "Not on your life! There are men back there who were put out of commission because of you!" At least several guards had been attacked, some with broken bones the worst would be out of work for a few months yet. The healers of the city had been dispatched but she knew she'd hear it from her officers if she let him go. The last thing she needed was something added to her record, she had worked hard to keep it clean her entire carreer.

Zevron glared back at her, but Asinity spoke first, turning to face the woman. "My lady, I would trust this man with my life. I believe he is telling the truth."

"Aww. Touching. You have a way with words." Zevron broke in, grinning. Now things were definitely moving, all he needed to do is figure out where to go. Freedom never tasted sweeter.

Taking a moment to consider her own position, the woman sighed and nodded towards Asinity. "If it your wish, sir...but I caution you. This one is suspicious." At least if she mentioned that Asinity Des'vega was the one to take him in on her report she could keep it off her own conscious. At that point if this rogue, this Zevron, disappeared it would not be her problem any more. She released his arm and took a few steps back before bowing towards Asinity with respect. "Good day to you Sir."

Asinity raised an eyebrow curiously. "Don't think too much about what I said." He said to Zevron, and tapped the tabard that was fastened over his armor. The tabard depicted a golden, leafless tree, surrounded by scarlet, and wreathed in gold. It was the symbol of the Symphony of Eternity, to which both men owed their allegiance, and consequently, their lives. Asinity raised his chin slightly, and regarded Zevron. "I'm coming with you." He stated openly.

"Only problem is, I have no idea where they are." The rogue responded. He began to gather his items, stowing them on belts, shoulders and his hips. Feeling much better now his had the familiar weight of steel around him he turned towards the paladin. "I did not see who came in... Unless they were already inside but then the place was quiet except for the troll." Zevron shrugged and then eyed the gate realizing that he couldn't leave now.

Chapter 6: When paths cross once again... (cont.)

The pounding in her head woke Rynn with a start. Slowly things came back to her, the fight and the darkness. She groaned and felt a sharp stabbing sensation behind her, close to the back of her neck. Collecting her thoughts she tried to reach up to feel her head only to find out that her hands were tied behind her. Amirynth opened her eyes, peering blearily around her, unable to see much from the ground that she lay on. Rocks were strewn about, large crystals, jutting out of the ground, glowed softly, providng the only light in the area. Suddenly she realized there was someone else there and froze, her heart racing.

"How ya be doin' it witch?" A low voice came from the darkness, moving closer to run a finger down the warlock's pale cheek. "How ya be drainin' mah powers away?"

The accent was heavy, ancient seeming. Rynn had never heard anything like it before. She tried to shy away from the troll's cold touch, whimpering slightly as her movements caused another shaft of pain to lance through her head. She couldn't understand what the shadow was talking about, focused as she was on trying to remember what had happened. The murmuring came back, this time not moving away and Rynn felt herself being picked up by her heavy robes.

"Tell mahself, Ya be tellin' I'mani now... How ya be doin' it?" She growled at her, eyes burning a pale ice-blue. The troll tossed her aside when Rynn didn't respond. "Pah! Ya be tellin' I'mani soon enough. Ah be makin' sure o' that... or ya be diein' anyways an' maybe that be breakin' t' curse yes?" The death knight moved around the rocks slowly as if looking for something, still mumbling to herself. "Ah be makin' ya talk t' I'mani. Ah be havin' fun an' then ya be diein'." She almost sang it to herself her voice deep and rough.

Rynn shuddered at the voice, her breath coming labored. A sharp pain in her side had joined the multitude of aches and she was sure that she had a cracked rib from the fall. Struggling upright she attempted to look around once more, searching for anything that would give her a clue to where she was. The crystals were unusual but didn't give any direction towards an exit. She had to find some way to escape. Straining against her bonds she was able to move just enough that her hand wrapped around the round stone hidden in her pocket. The communicator! If she could get it to work maybe she could get a hold of someone... If Zev had heard her... Rynn felt the weight of the day fall upon her once more. The look he had given her before he left hurt her more than anything I'mani could do. She winced as her mind took her through the conversation again. Why hadn't she told him before? Would it have changed anything? Her chest felt tight as she tried to sort out her feelings, for a moment forgetting where she was.

The kick to her side reminded her forcefully. "Get up!" I'mani kicked her again, the warlock collapsing on the rocky floor with the force of the attack. "Hey witch! Ya be doin' what I'mani be tellin' ya!" She reached down and grabbed Rynn by the neck, picking her up in one smooth motion, not even noticing her slight weight. Carrying the blood elf towards a higher area of the cave, she tossed her down onto a table of stone face first and grinned at her as Rynn tried to catch her breath. "Now... ya be tellin' mahself how ya be doin' it or ah be kilin' ya now." I'mani moved in close, elbow pressing into her back, tusks grazing against the elf's cheek. The coolness of the death knight's breath washed over her, reminding Amirynth of Dukker for a split moment. "We can be doin' this t' easy way or t' fun way." The death knight's grip tightened around her as Amirynth tried to mutter a curse, attempting to escape. I'mani ran the sharp knife against the warlock's arm, slashing the thick material to expose her pale skin to the cold cavern air. "Don't want ya t' be castin' anythin' yes?" She slashed again, this time at the ropes, making them fall from the elf's wrists. Grabbing Rynn roughly, pinning down her arm with one hand, the troll twisted around, rendering the bloodelf helpless, her chest pressed into the stone table. With a slow, careful jab I'mani ran the blade down the palm of her hand, pressing in deep, cutting through tendons, down to the bone.

Rynn screamed as she felt fire run down from her wrist to her fingers. Trying to curl out of the way to protect herself, she thrust her free hand against the death knights back, attempting to push I'mani off her arm. The Drakkari's laugh haunted her as she struggled for freedom, her small stature no challenge for the larger troll. She still could hardly make out her assailant, the little she could see was washed out by the tears that now came to her eyes from the pain. A sudden movement from the death knight and she was free! Amirynth pushed up, cradling her useless hand to her chest as she blindly tried to run towards what she hoped was an exit. The next thing she felt was large fingers wrapped around her neck once more, stalling her escape and pushing her down to the ground, cutting off her air. She struggled more, trying to gulp at the precious life-giving breath as the hand tightened around her neck.

"Heh, lets be seein' ya run away now..."

The deep voice seemed to float above her, not connected to anything as the warlock's head swam from lack of oxygen. She gasped for breath again, anything to stop the pounding in her head. Her chest tightened as she felt the darkness edge across her vision as she fought to keep conscious. Again she was lifted, this time thrown across the room, her head hitting the ground with a jarring thud. Stunned for a few moments, Amirynth felt her fingers tighten around a small round object. The communicator! Somehow she had managed to keep a hold of it! She clicked it on quickly, hoping that the few precious moments she had would be enough to find help.

"H-hello?" Her voice cracked, barely a whisper came from her ravaged throat. "A-anyone... p-p-please..."

* * * * * * * *

Asinity narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "You didn't see anyone enter or leave?" He shook his head trying to figure out how someone could outsmart the rogue at his own trade. He grunted, talking to himself. "I wonder if Malis... Hmmm..."

"I wasn't really in the area. I was actually on my way out of the city as it was." Zevron's eyes darkened as he remembered the last few words Rynn and he had exchanged. Shaking his head to focus on the present matter he tapped his chin with a gloved finger. "Sin, I did see one thing. There was a Death Gate..." He turned to face Asinity head on as he spoke. "I tried to dive through it but it closed before I could."

As if his suspicions were confirmed he nodded, "A death gate... Malis was recently raised as a death knight. I... wonder if it was her?" His mind went back to Rynn's frantic worry about Malis coming back to kill her. Sin had discounted it then, thinking it was not likely to happen. But then, Malis -had- come back... and now the warlock was missing. Suddenly he looked down as the communicator on his side clicked on.

"H-hello?" A quiet whisper came from the small stone. "A-anyone... p-p-please..."

Asinity immediately grabbed the communicator and held it close to his mouth, speaking quietly. "Amirynth?" His mind raced, she didn't sound very good but at least she was alive somewhere. They just needed to figure out where that 'where' was. After a glance over towards the rogue he asked, "Where are you Rynn?"

The communicator clicked on again and the sound of movements filled the now quiet air of the city before the warlock's voice came over again, "C-c-can you hear me...?" She was interrupted by a gruff voice that seemed to come from a distance. "What ya be doin'? Tryin' t' be talkin' to t' spirits like that damned troll?" The stone sent out a bit of static and fell silent again.

As soon as he heard Rynn's voice the rogue started to gather back his things. Strapping his knives back onto his hip, Zevron almost yelled into the communicators. "Where are you?! We're coming to get you!" He stopped short at the sound of the second voice not recognizing it. "Who is it!?" His fists clenched in anger as his mind imagined the worst. "Why would it take Rynn and Malis?" His rage knew no bounds. They were stolen away and he was -right there- How could he have missed it!

Asinity's eyes narrowed when he heard the other voice. So familiar, it could only be one... The paladin's eyes widened for a split moment. "Her... That -b***h- ... How the hell did she get..." His demeanor changed from one of worry to one of revenge. "That..." Sin paused at Zevron's questions and thumbed his ear which had about an inch missing from the top. "A death knight I fought... bit part of my ear off..." He shook his head, hand clenched around the pommel of his trusted hammer. "I have no idea what she wants with them..." Mind racing, the paladin tried to think of where they could be, anything that could give them an upper hand. His blood boiled with the memory of the past fight, it would be a sweet time to pay her back for every insult.

A scuffle come over the communicators, attracting their attentions once more, "What do ya be havin' over there?" The death knight's voice came over clearer as if she had gotten much closer to the small round stone. In the background, Rynn stuttered something unintelligible. Suddenly there was a thud and a dark chuckle as the troll spoke once more. "Feisty little one... "

"What the hell are you doing with Rynn, I'mani?!" Asinity's voice ran clear over the stones as his ear twitched in anger.

A pause followed before the troll chuckled again. "Lord Asinity? How be ya ear?" She laughed as the paladin growled in response. "Ah be thinkin' ah just be killin' her an' be done wit' it but, Dear Asinity, Ah think ah be playin' wit' her a little first as she be one o' yours." In the background another thud and a cry of pain was heard as if someone had just been kicked across the floor.

Zevron gritted his teeth, "I don't know who you are but get this through your -dead- skull. I will kill you where you stand if you don't give her back. That's a promise!" The rogue looked like he was about to throw the communicator across the street.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size drakkari? Where have you taken Amirynth?" Asinity hefted his hammer and eyed the rogue, hoping he'd calm down a little. He took a few breaths himself to feel a little more centered. "I'd love for a chance to fight you again... you're not going to run away this time?" The paladin narrowed his eyes as his mind went over possible location of where they could be. With a death gate, however, that number was quite high.

I'mani almost purred, "Ah be waitin' for ya, Asinity. Why don't ya be comin' t' find mahself... Ah be thinkin' ya be knowin' t' way..." She pauses before adding, "An bring ya friends, ya might be needin' some help there..." The communicator clicked off.

"Where is she!?" Zevron turned to Asinity in anger, his fists clenched. At the paladin's gaze he scowled, taking a deep breath to quiet the rage he felt inside. Trying again, not yet reining in his frustration he growled. "We need to get there fast. Do you have any clues to where she could be?" The rogue couldn't think straight yet, his mind still ready to leap up and just go kill the death knight.

Asinity grunted and turned, spitting on the ground. "A death gate..." He grew thoughtful, taking his time so that he didn't make any mistakes which could cost them later. "The last time I fought her was in Crystalsong, on the border between Icecrown, but..." He shook his head, doubting there was any location there to hide two bodies. His thoughts were interrupted by a crackling over the communicator.

"Sounds like a party, you need any help?" Sin was happy to hear Mordagen's voice, "Drakkari are quite easy to kill. I particularly like the sound they make when you cut their throat from ear to ear. There was one time, I was killing a troll and his friend came up and he was being all trollish and saying 'Ju don be hurtin' mah friend' or something retarded. So he died too." The rogue chuckled to himself.

"Light... these Drakkari are odd enough without them being under the banner of the Lich King..." The paladin shook his head as he spoke into the stones.

The rogue thought about his last moments in that room, eyes closing for a moment. He suddenly remembered the weapon left on the floor and looked up at Asinity, "Malis left her axe at the house. I was going to grab it, but the guards came." He nodded when the paladin raised his eyebrows at him. "I'm guessing it's hers, I never really knew her."

"We should go and get it before we set out... if we have to break them out it would do us good to have her armed." Asinity took a look around the city, "Do you know where their house is?" He eyed the direction that Zev pointed and added, "Lead the way." While they hurried over there Sin went over different ways they could try to rescue the pair with minimal trouble. Something tugged at the back of his mind but he couldn't place it. Where was Malis? He had heard Rynn over the communicators but the troll was still at large. For a fleeting moment he worried that Malis had been taken elsewhere but reasoned that the troll had probably put up a better fight and was being kept under a more forceful means. He shook his head, I'd hate to be on her bad side when she wakes up...

Zevron stalked ahead, still furious with himself for letting his guard drop, for vanishing off. His mind argued with itself in circles. If she had been more... No, it was his fault, he should have been there... The rogue wrapped his hands around the curved blades at his hip ready to strike out if needed as they neared the broken door of the troll's house. She was with another... He felt a sudden flare of anger at this Dukker, wondering who he was. With another... but then why did she look at him the way she did sometimes? Zev growled to himself as he stepped over the threshold for the third time that day and looked around, spotting the axe immediately. He couldn't bear to think of Rynn in trouble but damned if he was going to talk to her any time soon! To clear his head he waved towards the center of the room. "The death gate was right here..."

Asinity had been listening to Mordagen on the communicators, "Sounds like you've got experience with fighting Drakkari. What to come and help us kill this one?"

"Sure." Mordagen laughed over the stones. "They are all bark and no bite. Like seriously, no bite. They'd have to like take out a loan so they can buy some bite." There was sounds of movements as if he was getting ready to move out.

He looked around upon entering the house and picked up the heavy axe. "What if I told you that b***h bit part of my ear off?" Glancing towards Zevron, he gives a nod and stands back up, inspecting the axe for a moment. "Hmmm... interesting..." he murmured to himself. There was an odd feeling to the hilt as he held it and he heard the faint sounds of drums in the distance. Suddenly a voice came to him on the wind, T' shinies... they be so sad... Blinking he shook his head as the communicator clicked back on.

Mordagen's voice came from the stones, "I'd say she got lucky and..." He strode through the door, armor on and weapons at the ready. "Being lucky isn't a skill." The blood elf brushed a lock of his dark hair behind his shoulder before grinning at the pair. "So, where do we go to kill this person?"

Asinity was staring at the axe. Mistwalker...?" He frowned as he studied the the gems inset on the pommel a little closer. The voice came to him again, just the fragment of a whisper, barely heard with the movements of the day around them. They be cryin'... so very very sad... It sounded like Malis but... why would he be hearing the troll? The paladin shook his head and held out the axe to Zevron. "Here... hold this. Tell me if you hear anything?" For a moment he wondered if it was just him, the stresses of the events finally getting to him.

The rogue grabbed the axe and raised an eyebrow curiously. He concentrated on the blade, seeing the runes pulsing slightly as if the weapon had a heartbeat. For a long moment he didn't hear anything. Thinking Sin had finally gone nuts he opened his mouth before he heard the troll whisper to him, Why t' shinies be so sad? For a moment he started back, looking as if he would drop the axe where he stood. "Yeah, I do... You guys don't hear that?" He looked down at the weapon with an air of wonder. So sad... shinies not be likin' t' be in pain... "Something about shinies being sad?" He frowned, "Not liking to be in pain?"

The paladin nodded, "That has to be Mistwalker, in Sholazar... That is where I found Malis but... you think it's worth checking out?" He looked between the two rogues, reaching out his hand for the axe. This was the only clue they could go off and he hoped that it would be correct as they didn't have many other options.

"It's our best lead..." Zeron shrugged and looked over to Mord who nodded in agreement.

Asinity frowned as he remembered the location of the cave Malis had taken him to. "Alright... I'll meet you two there as fast as I can. By the Light, I hope we can make it in time.

Chapter 6: When paths cross once again... (cont.)

Rynn came to once more as she felt a jabbing in her side from a sharp layer of stones she had fell onto. How long had she been out this time? The warlock winced as she reached up with her undamaged hand to feel the back of her head. Her vision swam before her as she almost blanked out again from the pain. If she had her bag on her side she could have drawn on a soul stone but that, and all her other belongings were missing. Dazedly, she tried to remember if there had been anything else in her pockets but she came up short. Rynn felt as if she was surrounded by a cloud of fog. A fog that bit and stabbed at her without warning. She tried to pull herself up, anything to get herself to a safer place. Standing on shaky legs the bloodelf moved towards the shadows only to almost cry out as she stubbed her bare, aching feet on the sharp crystal outcroppings.

I'mani stalked forward and lashed out with her arm, catching the blood elf across the face. "Ya be thinkin' they be savin' ya?" She growled down at Rynn who had fallen on the floor, her hand over he left eye. "Well ya got another thing comin' an' now t' game be changin'. Ah be thinkin' ya need t' be learnin' that there be worse things than death." The troll advanced towards her, kicking at her again. Reaching down to pick her up by the throat, the troll pinned her against the wall. She eyed the bloodelf, smirking as she admired her handiwork. Rynn's eye was swollen shut, a bruise rapidly forming as crimson seeped from the gash above her eyebrow. The heavy robes were torn, showing her pale damaged skin, a long cut down her arm and mutilated hand which was still weeping blood. She heard a whimper fall from Rynn's cracked lips and a look of feral delight spread across her face. Leaning in close I'mani could smell the terror and slowly licked across those parched lips and up the pale cheek, tasting each sweet drop of crimson. "How it be feelin'? Havin' ya life slip away through ya fingers?" The troll tilted her head to the side as the elf trembled with fear and revulsion. "Not bein' in control of yaself? Of bein' powerless an' weak?" The drakkari seemed to grow as she spoke, as if the rage was finally cresting over her. She pressed the small dagger against Rynn's chest, cutting into the fabric. "Well?!" I'mani pushed harder reaching skin and the blade drank blood once more.

The warlock struggled against the fog of pain, trying to clear her head enough so that she could escape. Rynn thought fleetingly about the communicators, hoping the few moments she had was enough. She remembered hearing voices but wasn't sure who they belonged to before the troll had kicked her, causing her to fall and crack her head against the ground. If only Zev... She banished the thought even before it could form. For the moment she was alone, she had to do this by herself. The bloodelf felt the stone blade press up against her chest, the pressure getting stronger until she felt a sharp agony as it bit into her skin. She bit her tongue to keep from crying out feeling the necklace grow warmer. Malis...? For a moment Amirynth wondered if she had been captured too. It was still too dark in the cavern to see much, it was possible that the shaman had been wandering around with out her knowing. If this deathknight had over powered Malis then she must be even stronger than Rynn thought. her mind started playing tricks on her as she imagined seeing the troll dead once more, eyes opened wide in surprise. No... she would not think like that... She raised her good hand and wrapped her fingers around the drakkari's wrist. Frowning in concentration and ignoring the troll's hiss of anger, she pushed the dagger in deeper, cutting into her skin as she warmed the blade to cauterize the wound. This blood magic would weaken her even more but give her the slight resources of mana she needed. Drawing from what was left of her reserves, the warlock whispered a single word, focusing her power and sending tendrils of flame from her fingers, burning the deathkinight's icy skin. She felt, rather than saw, I'mani's surprise and pain as the hiss became a growl. Rynn fell to the ground as the troll let go of her, moving back into the shadows.

"How ya be doin' that witch!?" I'mani felt her bloodlust seep away from her and the icy cold tendrils wrapped around her protectively. Her sharp senses alerted hear voices in the distance and she narrowed her eyes. She needed to dispose of this elf now, there was no longer any time for fun and games. The deathknight looked around with a deep scowl. Where had she gone?

Her legs shaking, the bloodelf crouched in the corner of the darkest shadows she could find. She had to feel her way around but at least this way she could stay hidden long enough to gather up her strength. The necklace grew warmer against her skin and she gathered the largest crystal in her hand, feeling the familiar roughness as she felt the shaman's presence nearby. Ya be playin' hide an' seek, shinies be wantin' t' help... many friends come... Rynn started at the whisper, her heart beating faster. She heard the deathknight move around the cavern, a growling coming from her direction. Was Malis here to save her? She shakily got to her feet, trying to pinpoint where the two trolls were. She was in no condition to fight but she wanted to help any way she could. More whispers came, causing her hair on the back of her neck to raise up. They guided her, helped her fingers find the crevices they needed. The necklace grew warmer, almost making her gasp in shock and drop the pendant. Remembering Zevron's lessons, the warlock crouched back down, her good hand finding a small round stone. She could hear I'mani move about again, the drakkari seeming to be occupied with something, not trying to be silent. This could be her only chance to get away. The bloodelf took a deep breath to steady herself and tossed it as far as she was could, hoping it would provide a much needed distraction.

The stone clinked as it landed against one of the many crystals that grew from the cavern floor. A flash of sparks lit up the darkness in the small area, revealing the exit that she had unknowingly been working her way towards. A tall shadow also turned towards the source of the noise, scouring the area for the split second it was alight. Rynn slunk back into the darkness, not wanting to be seen before a voice rang clear into the still air.

"Ya be leavin' mah Rynn alone!"

There was a thud as the Drakkari dropped to her knees. I'mani growled an answer in Zandali that Rynn couldn't make out before starting to look around, searching for something.

The warlock stopped in her tracks. That had to be Malis, the must have thought the spark was a signal. Putting a hand to her necklace she drew on the last strength she had and gathered up enough power to help Malis. Even if she ended up pushing too far she was confident that the troll would protect her and wanted to help as best she could. The sounds of footsteps echoed around her, more voices seeming to join the fray. Rynn span around as she felt a presence behind her, eyes widening as the death knight moved in close, growling her triumph as she spotted the bloodelf. She felt the drakkari's hand wrap around her ankle and fell to the ground. "No!" Amirynth raised her hands to fend off the attack she knew was coming chanting quickly to form a spell of protection. She felt the power coalesce around her as the troll seemed to stall a little bit, eyes widening. Then the warlock let loose an attack, dark shadowy energies coursing from her fingers and wrapping around I'mani. She pulled them tight before releasing the spell, the focus suddenly pushing outwards, sending the drakkari backwards, a cry of anger and fear escaping her lips.

Rynn peered into the shadows, trying to find out where the death knight had gone. Voices echoed around her from all direction; the sounds of battle and drums getting ever louder. Her vision finally seemed to clear as she spotted a fain light coming from the side. Slowly she started to make her way there, crawling on the floor at a snail's pace. Suddenly a form moved towards her; she looked up and gasped, reaching out towards the figure who crawled out of the darkness. "Malis! N-n-no!..." The 'lock cried out as the troll collapsed before her, eyes vacant. Amirynth tried to pull herself towards the shaman, her legs unable to carry her weight. Growing weaker with every attempt she felt the edge of her vision darkening until she collapsed also, unable to continue, her face pallid.

The three men arrived at Mosswalker Village just as the sun was easing its way past noon. It baked the great forest in its light, and the humidity rose to uncomfortable levels as the men made careful steps through the muddy, mossy undergrowth. Asinity, a large man in his early forties, stood between two other middle-aged men in leather armor, both displaying long black hair in stark comparison to his own lightened blond. Mordagen and Zevron were their names, and they were both good friends of Asinity, and had willingly come with him to this dreadful place to try and recover two supposed victims of a kidnapping. One was a young female blood elf, with red hair and a blind eye. The other, a female Zandalar troll, also with red hair. The three men began combing the war-torn village with their eyes, but they could see no sign of either women through the Scourge-wrought chaos of that which lay before them.

Zevron frowned and turned to Asinity, just as Mordagen walked up beside the two. "Where's the best place to start?" He asked the paladin, giving Mordagen a nod in greeting. While he would have loved to just dart off and search for Rynn he knew that the three of them would have better luck if they searched together.

"It's obvious that she's not out here, I...the one place I can think of, is a cave nearby. Malis and I slept there on the evening that I found her here." Asinity responded, and jerked his head northwest with a grunt. The night had been interesting, even without most of her memories, Malis had many traditions that he never even knew. He almost wished he had a chance to know her better before she had died. Shaking his head, the paladin turned his mind back to the problem at hand. "I say we try that cave first."

Mordagen and Zevron followed his gaze, and nodded affirmatively. The younger rogue frowned, "You found Malis here? In Mosswalker?" Zevron hadn't heard about how she was discovered. Until he had met her the rogue hadn't even known about the Zandalar troll.

Asinity shrugged and gave a nod. "When she was risen...I'm not sure how long after, but we went to that cave to rest. I'd say that's our best bet." He lead the way towards the enterance of the cave stooping low at the dark opening. In the night it had seemed a lot more homely and less forboding than it did now.

Mordagen ran a hand through his hair, and patted the sheath of one of his daggers. "Well, how do we want to do this?" He grinned at the darkness of the cave. This was one of his specialties and it was proving to be quite an interesting outing. The only thing that would make it better was to have a bit of action. His blades were waiting for that death knight.

Asinity looked to the two men in their dark leather armor, and glanced down at his own plate mail, his skin slick with sweat underneath. "You two would be better to go in first, and do some recon. Then let me know via the communicator if it's safe to come in. All I would do is make noise if I went in first."

The two rogues grinned at each other, and shrugged. "Alright, we'll let you know. Come on, Mord." Zevron rubbed his forehead with the back of his hand, and took a few steps toward the direction Asinity had pointed, Mordagen at his side. He felt the coolness of the cavern envelope him, a contrast to the heat of the day. Waiting for a few moments his eyes adjusted to the shadows of the earth and he crouched down, carefully checking the area for any signs of people.

The armored sin'dorei gave them some distance before he started towards them, but even when he began to walk, his steps were slow. The humidity was weighing him down, and caused him to sweat fiercely under his plate and leather armor. He reached the entrance of the cave with no hinderances, and took a brief respite by leaning against the moss-covered gray stone that served as the gaping mouth of the cave. Asinity tapped his thumb against the arcane communicator that was clipped to the collar of his shirt, and exhaled a deep breath in impatience. Just as a cool breeze flew out from the cave, tickling the whiskers on his chin, the communicator turned on and a voice spoke quietly through it, muffled slightly by static.

"Come on in." Zevron sounded relatively stable through the small device, but Asinity brought the missing troll's two-handed axe in his hands anyway.

The tunnel that followed the entrance of the cave widened up until it was big enough for six men to walk through, side by side. As he walked through the twisting turns within the tunnel, Asinity saw massive mineral deposits gathered in clumps, shining brightly and creating a faint light source to guide him through the cave. Finally, he made his way to a large room, with three people in plain sight at the center. Two of them were laying down against the cold stone floor, and another was kneeling next to one of the bodies. Asinity stepped forward with his eyes narrowed, peering at the three individuals. Once he approached them, he identified that it was Zevron kneeling near Amirynth. The other body belonged to Malis, the other missing female they had been looking for. The rogue was checking Rynn's pulse as Asinity approached, two fingers slid against the nape of her neck.

"Are they both...?" Asinity began, looking to Zevron.

The rogue's eyes flickered to a shadow accross the room, then back to the blood elf that lay in front of him. "Search the area, Mord." He began, then removed his hand to brush the bangs out of Amirynth's face. "The pulse is weak, but she's breathing. She needs care right away." The rogue had a look of sorrow and pain on his face, it was obvious that he blamed himself for her capture. He winced slightly as he saw her hand, noting all the new scars and bruises that were forming already on her pale skin.

The paladin looked around for Mordagen, but the other rogue eluded his gaze. At the edges of his hearing, Asinity heard the familiar metal clink of Mords weapons being drawn, but he was too focused upon Malis to look for the man. The armored sin'dorei made his way over to the zandalar troll, and kneeled down next to her. He brought her wrist up to check for a pulse, but there was nothing. No hints of life within her at all. Thinking as quickly as he could, he set the troll's axe on the ground next to her, and placed her hand upon it, silently praying that it would bring the woman back to life. Oddly, the woman's fingers close upon the grip as it touches her hand, but she makes no other movement.

"Come on Rynn..." Zevron was murmuring under his breath as the warlock stirred with a whimper, followed by quick, short breaths. The rogue gently brought the woman's body into his arms and tried to comfort her through her waking pain, lifting her head and rubbing her back. "Stay with me, Rynn...come on..." He glanced towards the paladin, a look of anguish in his eyes, almost begging Asinity for aid.

"I'll try to heal her in a moment, I...I need to see if Malis-" Asinity began, catching his gaze. He looked back to see the troll woman stirring as well. Breathing a sigh of releaf he helped up the shaman as best he could. The drakkari was no where to be seen but at least they had recovered the pair that belonged to the Symphony.

Malis' eyes blinked open, and glanced at Asinity through darkened red irises. "Ya be callin' mah name? It be time t' get up?" She studied the paladin for a moment as if she did not know his face. "Ya be seemin' familiar, who ya be?" She grinned, "Ah be Malis Vitterfolk, it be a pleasure t' meetcha." She held out her hand in greeting.

The blood elf frowned, looking down at the zandalar troll. "It's Asinity... Malis, please tell me that you haven't forgotten." If she had lost her memories all over again he wasn't sure if there would be any hope for her getting better. He took her hand, not shaking it but instead helping her up.

The troll frowned as well, the irises of her eyes curiously shifting to a pale purple color before she responded. "Oh...heya, Asinity. Not be seein' ya there. Ya decided t' come and visit?" She rose and gave him a tight hug, grinning around at everyone as she did so. "So many peoples comin' t' visit t' mahself!"

The paladin opened his mouth to respond, but was silenced as Amirynth began to speak behind him.

"Zev?" Rynn asked the rogue who cradled her against him. She ached all over and wanted nothing more than to just go back to sleep. Every movement seemed so heavy and took all the energy she had. Her mind was awhirl with the last few moments, the confusion not helping. Had Malis been there the whole time? She wasn't sure but the troll had definitely done something to that deathknight. She shuddered at the memories and leaned into his warm body, "T-t-that you?"

"Yeah... it's me." He responded, attempting to give her a grin through his grim expression. He was torn within, wanting to hold her close and never let go and wanting to just pass her over to Asinity for him to heal her up and then just stalk out of the cavern.

"She... the d-d-death..." The blood elf began, attempting to look around the cave. She still couldn't see much but the shadows didn't seem so deep any more.

"We know she's dead..." Zevron tried to finish for the woman. He would make sure that she was going to be ok, take her home and then go away for a bit. He didn't know what to think right now. Before when she had been missing all he had thoughts of was saving her, protecting her, but now... All he could remember was that moment in the troll's house, his heart sinking to the pit of his stomach. A lump rose to his throat and he angrily pushed it down, gathering up the warlock and standing, about ready to leave.

Asinity glanced over to the pair, then looked over towards the troll with a frown. "Malis...do you remember anything? Anything of how you got here?" He narrowed his eyes and looked back to Amirynth. "Zevron left and heard a scream...and ran into the house to find you and Rynn gone. Now you're both here. What the hell happened?" He asked, shooting a gaze back at the troll.

The troll mirrored his frown, and spoke up. "Ah be rememberin' ah be at t' home in Silvermoon, an' then ah be thinkin' o' t' shinies ah left here an ah' be at home here. Ah guess ah can still be travellin' in t' spirit world." She finishes, smiling as though she were happy about that. Thinking some more she added, "Oh! Ah remember Rynn be comin' t' talk' t' me..an Peaches be stormin' out an' then...," she paused, as if searching for a thought. Asinity raised a curious eyebrow. "...an then ya be here an...hmm." She paused again. "Oh, an t' drums be gettin' loud again so ah be lookin' fer mah shinies..."

The amored sin'dorei shook his head, and sighed. "What drums? Do you hear them now?" This was the second time she had mentioned the drums, he wondered for a moment if there was a connection.

The troll wrinkled her nose and smiled. "Nope! They all be gone! It be all t' crystals." She surmised, and gave a nod of approval. The troll was happy to have so many people around her who cared about what was going on. She was a little scared of the obvious missing memories but Asinity seemed to know what was going on and she was sure he would come up with an explenation. Though while this cave had been home for so long she had become partial to the soft bed in the elven city and was ready to go back there.

Asinity sighed again. "Alright. Let's get you two the hell out of here and back home. Bring your axe, if you can manage it. I'd like a chance to ask you a few questions about it when we get you back in Silvermoon, ok?" He asked her, rolling his shoulders. There was a connection to everything, he could see it floating just beyond his grasp. He had an idea but needed to get a little more research before he tried anything.

"Sure sure! Ah be likin' this one, it be all shiney. Ya see it?" Malis held up the runed axe that was now devoid of the pale ice bue glow."Ah be rememberin' it be different than mah old axe but much more shiny... an' bigger..." For a moment the troll looked down towards the golden blade and frowned at it. With a shrug she placed it on her hip and grinned down at Asinity.

The paladin looked at the axe as she showed it to him, and nodded quickly in response. To his right, he heard Zevron clear his throat, and looked over to see Rynn in his arms. The rogue gave him a stern look, and they exchanged nods. "Malis and I will return to Silvermoon...are you coming with?" He had seen the connection between them and was wondering if there was something there that he didn't know.

"I'm going to take her back to Nagrand, so she can finish her business there once she gets better." Zevron responded quickly.

The paladin nodded, "Alright. I'll come visit in a few days to check up on her." He watched as the rogue nodded silently in return and began walking out of the cave. Asinity motioned for Malis to follow, and gave one last look around the large room for any sign of Mordagen before he gave up and followed the other elves out of the cave.

Chapter 7: Up Against the Wall

Zevron moved into the room slowly, carrying a large bundle of wood. Placing it down into the corner where a small pile had been collected he turned and regarded the slight form that lay on the bed across the way. Nearing her, he shook her shoulder without a second thought, waking her up. Not a word spoken, he picked up the warlock, carrying her to the table and setting her down on a chair. He turned away and tended the fire, adding to it the new logs of wood that he had brought. Rowland, his pet cockroach hung out on his shoulder, the insect's presence a small comfort. Still silent, Zevron gathered his bags and searched through them, pulling out ingredients and cooking supplies. He seasoned the meat, placing it carefully upon the fire before standing up and glancing towards the cluttered table. Moving towards it, he brushed his arm across the surface, knocking most of the junk onto the floor. "Time to eat." He kept his voice level and impersonal, not even affording a glance in her direction. Stalking back to the fire the rogue poked at the meat and turned it over, his back to the bloodelf.

She hardly noticed being moved, so withdrawn into herself. Rynn watched the rogue as he moved about the room her heart sinking as he refused to acknowledge her She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths to steady herself, starting a little as he tossed everything off the table before her. Her being ached, wanting to reach out to him, knowing it was her fault. If she could do anything to change the past she would but she wondered what it would have fixed. She stared at the fire, a shell of her former self. Again Rynn had hurt someone in her attempts to become stronger once again. The warlock shivered, maybe this was a path she was not to take, but if she was to stay an invalid, what was the point in living life at that point? She shook her head, No... she wouldn't even consider that. She still owed too many people to give up now. Her thoughts were interrupted when Zevron came back up, a plate in hand.

"Now eat it, you need your strength." The rogue placed the food down onto the table before stalking up the stairs, taking a seat on the top step. Bringing out his knives he threw them at the wall where a few targets were hung. A rhythmic beat, one after the other, each seeming a little louder than the last as if thrown with more force. Zevron felt the anger rise but wasn't sure why. He almost hated her in this moment and yet still couldn't bear to see her this way. If he had been there and not stormed out... would he have been able to prevent the attack? He threw another knife with deadly accuracy. Not that he was any big factor in her life it seemed. Why was he even here? Where was this Dukker of hers? The rogue's expression darkened and another knife was thrown, almost bouncing out of the target with the force that it hit. She had someone else already and never told him, as if he was not important to her at all. His chest felt tight and he scowled at the world as two more knives found their targets, hitting the middle of the bulls eye.

Rynn flinched as each knife thudded into the targets. Slowly, methodically she took a bite of food, placing it into her mouth ans chewing. Still the thuds came from the other side of the room, she could feel the tension in the air. Trying to keep to herself, the blood elf continued eating, bite by bite, hardly even tasting the food in front of her. She took a deep breath as she felt something welling up inside. Each bite was getting harder to swallow as the knives continued to hit the wall. Suddenly she felt something snap within and she instinctively pulled inwards, feeling a coolness rush through her body as the strength flowed through her limbs. "Zev..." She lifted her head, her eyes glowing pale, fists clenched at her side. When he didn't respond she tried again, her voice filling the void in the room. "Zev."

The rogue paused as he heard his voice a second time, sighing before standing up, vanishing in place and re-appearing just to the side of the warlock. "What is it?" he kept his voice level as he watched her, his mask covering any expression he may have, his eyes a steel blue. The large cockroach felt the tensions between them and crawled from Zev's shoulder into a safer place within his chest armor.

She looked up at him and reached out her hand. "I promised to teach you fire... I shall teach you now." Rynn made a small flame appear in the palm of her hand and with a quick motion flicked each finger outwards, small jets of fire shooting towards each of his knives. One by one they fell out of the targets, a small burn marking each spot where the metal had bit. "I shall teach you in return for all you have done for me." Calling to the fire once more she lets the small flame dance from finger to finger as he would have done with a coin.

Zevron glanced her way, something in her voice rose the short hairs on the back of his neck. He had seen her like this once before, when they had been fighting that demon who had proved to be a little harder then they had expected. Rynn had been flagging, loosing her powers and he had gotten himself into a spot of trouble. Even then she had suddenly stood tall, her eyes flashing the same ice blue. He frowned, back then it had seemed just a trick of the light maybe, or another skill that the warlock used normally but this time... this time there was something sinister in the way she regarded him. "I hardly think now is the ti--" His eyes widened as the tink of knives filled the air, as each one hit the ground like rain. "Don't you think you should get a bit stronger first?"

"Strength can always be borrowed..." She slowly stood up, gazing defiantly with flashing blue-green eyes. Holding onto the back of a chair a moment Rynn, rose her hand in the air, making the small ball of fire glow hotter. There seemed to be an odd coldness about her voice, an echo that couldn't be placed. Grinning slyly, an unusual look for her, the warlock maneuvered the flame across her palm, not affected by the heat that emanated from the flame. "Do you wish to learn?" She eyed him, gauging his reactions.

His eyes narrowed even more as he watched her carefully. Zev's hand idily fingered his curved blades, only now just noticing her lack of stutter. "Yeah... sure..." He wasn't sure what was going on but decided to play it out to the end. For a moment he wondered what she had planned eying the fireball. He could only produce a small flickering flame at present; the few lessons he had were just tips on how to make it appear easier. This lesson seemed like it'd be a little more than just that.

Amirynth chuckled and waved her hand in the air once more sending the ball of fire into the air to float above her head. Heat washed through the room as the fire flared once. "Lets see you control this!" Quickly she tossed her hand, maneuvering the flaming orb so that it circled around her head once and then darted towards him. "Stop it Zevron, stop it from hitting you!" Calling out she guided the fireball, her concentration against his.

The rogue dived to the side, attempting to roll out of the way as he felt the heat blast over him. "Are you trying to kill me?" He blurted out, crouching down as the fireball veered around and corrected it's path only to dart towards him once again. Zevron had to think quickly to dodge out of the way or be burned. He wasn't quite sure how this could be a lesson at all.

The 'lock raised an eyebrow. "No... the best way to learn is through experience. You did not learn how to throw knives so well without a deep need to protect yourself." She rose her hand above her head, the orb of flame spiraling up until it reached the ceiling before it came back down for a new barrage of attacks. The speed didn't give him much time to think but was slow enough that he could respond if needed. "Don't dodge, reflect." Amirynth smiled grimly as she let the flame die against the wall, wiggling her fingers to create a new one and lobbing it towards him, this time a little to the side.

Zevron back flipped away from her, motioning for her to continue. He caught a glimmer of what she was doing and was determined to best this new challenge. With a switch in stance he watched as the fireball came at him, holding out his hand and concentrating, hoping to push it away. His eyes grew wide as it came for him but he held his ground and was rewarded with a blast of fire to the chest. It burned the edges of his tabard and knocked him back. He shook his head and gritted his teeth as he saw another fireball start his way. Placing both hands out, Zev strained a bit, trying to push it back before the heat reached him. He failed miserably, the fire hitting him in the side, making him fall down. The rogue punched the ground with his fist. "Come on Zev..."

"Focus on reflecting, not trying to catch it." Amirynth tossed the next fireball in her hand a few times before throwing it at him, making it circle around him before aiming for his back.

He watched it closely, trying to follow the darting flame with his eyes as it spun around him. Turning his back away from it the rogue tried to force it away once more but wasn't quick enough. The fireball changed direction and slammed him in the gut, making him double over. Zevron grabbed a knife from his shoulder and put it between his teeth, standing again with a grin. He was getting used to the burning and was determined enough to continue. Eying the next glowing orb as it rose into the air he concentrated on it's path, guessing where it would go and visualizing a shield around his body. He hoped that he could use that to deflect the darting flames.

Amirynth cast fireball after fireball, feeling her arms grow colder as if all the heat from her body was dissipating with each orb. She shivered a little as she felt a wind on her back and wanted to turn around but didn't seem able. A whisper came to her, in the corner of her mind and it chilled her to the bone. Little witch... ah be findin' ya... Now lets see how ya be likin' it... Suddenly the cold seemed to claim her as she felt her arms turn to lead. Her eyes grew wide as they flashed a pale, almost blue colour as the warlock felt her mind be pushed back. Ahh t' be alive again! The drakkari in her head laughed hollowly before calling on Rynn's instincts, casting another firebolt, this one even hotter than the last. An' now t' be havin' some fun ah be thinkin' Hurling it towards the rogue she maneuvered it faster and harder, meaning to take him out.

Zevron noticed something was wrong almost immediately. He stared at Rynn as she gasped and shuddered, the expression on her face turning frantic before it was quickly masked. The next moment was a jumble of diving out of the way as the fireball darted towards him with unerring accuracy. He used his instincts to dodge the rogue flame, managing to get the furniture between him and the white hot orb. This was proving to be a lot more dangerous than it previously was. Something was going on and he wasn't sure how to stop it. Frowning he watched carefully for an opening meaning to take her out until he could figure things out.

Rynn fought the coldness that enveloped her body. Pushing against the mental barriers, the warlock attempted to regain control of her senses, not wanting to be the one to hurt Zev. She cried out in pain as the drakkari fought against her control, a feeling like knives piercing her mind. Still she was unable to make herself heard, her eyes watching as the rogue was hit by a more deadly fireball, the heat no longer shielded from his body. She saw him fall, a strength coming to her as she fought for control. I won't let you do this! She felt the hold over her mind lesson for just a moment before the cold intensified and the fireball swung around and headed straight to her. Lets be seein' how ya be farin' against ya own powers. The death knight laughed in her mind as the heat grew warmer around her.

The knife fell from between his teeth, forgotten as he watched the fireball suddenly change direction, curving down in a wide arc, it's path heading straight for the warlock. His heart dropped as he leaped over the fallen table, sprinting towards Rynn and sliding his body in between her and the oncoming flame. Desperately he put his arms out and tried to force it away before the burning orb hit. please please please... He scrunched his eyes close waiting for the inevitable.

Chapter 8: Mistakes can sometimes prove to be dangerous...

*note: Raw files need to be edited

Walking briskly, Asinity approached the home of Malis Delnaria, garbed in leathers with a light ring mail shirt over his tunic, and a short sword buckled to his belt. He reaches the door and rapped lightly upon it, then takes a step back and waited.

Malis looked up from where she had been sitting, a faraway look in her eyes. She stood up and reached the door, opening it slowly and looking out, "Oh heya Asinity!" The troll grinned, her face brightening up. "So what did ah be doin' t' have ya visitin'? How ya be?"

With a warm smile, Asinity bowed slightly. "I had hoped to get a look at that axe of yours, actually. I also had some questions for you, if you're not busy with anything else."

"Oh Sure sure!" Malis grinned back, "Ah not be doin' much an' it always be nice t' be havin' some company." She waved her hand out behind her, "Come in! Ya be wantin' t' be gettin' a drink? Ah might be havin' some food in here... not be much wit' t' cookin' though..."

Asinity nodded, and followed her into the home. He gazed around the house thoughtfully, and walked with his hands clasped together behind him. "Er, honestly I'll only have a drink if you've already opened something, otherwise I'm fine." He cleared his throat quietly. "So how've you been, Malis?"

The troll wandered straight into the small kitchen area and fussed around a little, looking for something to drink. Finding a bottle of wine she picked it up triumphantly, "Here, ah be findin' this..." She brings him the bottle and a small glass, sitting on the corner of the couch in the middle of the room. Without a moment hesitation she answered, "Oh ah be doin' fine, not been doin' much since yesterday but ah be thinkin' that ah might be goin' out an' meetin' more peoples today."

The elf took a seat on the couch and poured himself a small glass of the wine, and leaned back in his seat, draping one leg lazily over the other. "Ah, I see. I think you'll find quickly that Silvermoon's changed a lot since...since you were last here."

Malis nodded, "Ah'd be able t' tell if ah be rememberin' t' city." She seemed a little sorrowful at that statement and ran her finger around the empty glass she handled. "This city be very very shinie... ah be likin' it very much. An' t' peoples seem t' be very nice if a little shy ah be thinkin'..." The troll put the glass down, still empty and grinned at the paladin. "But it be ok! Ya be comin' t' visit Malis an' ah always be likin' yaself."

Asinity smiled lightheartedly and pushed the bottle of wine towards Malis. He took a small sip of his own glass, and exhaled an audible breath. "Well I'm quite glad to hear it, Malis. I was worried about you and Amirynth when we found you in that cave. To be honest, I feared the worst...

"Oh?" The troll raised an eyebrow, her eyes shifting slightly to a deeper purple. "Ah not be thinkin' it be that bad... Ah mean... Rynn be seemin' a little like she be hurtin'? She be ok yes?" Malis watched Asinity intently, a questioning look in her eyes. She didn't remember much from that night, mostly it was fuzzy though she remembered fighting another troll and then Asinity looking down at her with a worried expression. "Why ya be fearin' t' worst?"

Exhaling a deep breath, Asinity took another sip of the wine and leaned forward, setting the glass down on table. He eyed Malis with curiosity. "You and Amirynth looked fairly beaten up, and I wasn't really certain what had happened. I was relieved that you recovered so quickly, but...were you not wounded?"

She shook her head and gave him a wide smile. "Ah be a troll, ah bounce!" Showing her pale arms that had newly drawn tattoos upon them she turned them this way and that. "See... nothin' here. Ah dunno, be feelin' a little light headed but nothin' too bad ah be guessin'..." Malis gave an expressive shrug and put her hands in her lap where they started fiddling with the material there.

The paladin nodded, folding his arms against his chest. "I'm glad to hear it. I saw Ryn's wounds weren't nearly as minimal, but I've heard that she's recovering." He paused, and leaned back in his seat. "I, er...I have a couple questions I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind."

Malis frowned for a moment as she digested this before her thoughts were diverted by his request. "Ah always be happy t' be answerin' questions. Ah be like an' open book that Eli be givin' mahself!" The troll laughed a little at her own joke. "What ya be wantin' t' know?"

Asinity uncrossed his arms and ran a hand through his hair. He turned his body slightly to face Malis. "This is a little awkward of a question, but I ask of you to simply answer it, and I'll explain afterward." He said, giving the troll a nod. "Do...you happen to hear anything different than you would normally hear, when you touch your axe? Voices, perhaps?"

"Voices?" Malis' brow creased as she thought for a long while. "Ah not be hearin' any voices. T' only think ah be hearin' that people be lookin' at mahself all odd for be t' drums." She tilted her head to the side as if listening. "Ah be hearin' them right now... very faintly, but they be there." The troll looked over her shoulder before turning back and leaning in conspiratorially to whisper in his ear. Sometimes it be almost like they be followin' mahself..."

The elf raised an eyebrow. "Following? That's interesting...hm. Could I...have a look at the axe, if you do not mind?"

The troll reached down to her hip and closed her paw around the pommel. The drums seemed to grow louder as she took it off and held it in her hand for a moment. "Ah don't remember Fluffy be lookin' like this but it still be feelin' like mah Fluffy." She held it out to him, her eyes fixated upon his face as she did so. "Ya be takin' good care of Fluffy yes?

Asinity gave a nod, and grabbed onto the axe with a single hand. "I don't intend on taking it, I just want to-..." He began, and ceased speaking as the whispers of a female troll entered his mind. "...just...want to hold it...for a moment." The elf frowned, and gazed back at Malis. "Can...I tell you something, Malis? Something that might be a little...disturbing?"

Malis' hand never left the axe as she watched Asinity, "What ya be thinkin' of?"

The paladin cleared his throat quietly. "What do you remember of the cave I found you in? Do you...remember any sort of...confrontation? Any fight that was going on before Zevron, Mordagen, and I entered?"

The troll thought long and hard. She tried to think back to the day before and ran her hand though her dreads, her fingers snagging on the golden bands that kept them from unraveling. "Ah be rememberin' shoutin' at a troll... an'..." She seemed a little confused for a moment, "Ah be rememberin' t' crystals bein' all..." Malis shook her head a little as her mind when over things. "Nah... it be seemin' too fuzzy, ah be guessin' ah be gettin mah head hit on a few times..."

Asinity's eyes narrowed fiercely. "Wait. Another troll? You remember fighting another one? What was she like, Malis? I must know."

"Hmmm..." It be dark an' ah be more worried about makein' sure that Rynn be all safe like. She not be doin' well an' she be lookin' at mahself all hurt an' shocked. Like when she be lookin' at Zev . 'Cause Zevron be all mad an' an leavin' t' room 'cause he be likin' her an' she be wit' someone else..." The troll blinked as she spoke, warming up to her story.

The elf frowned, and attempted to look her in the eyes. "You mentioned another troll...was there someone else there with you, Malis?"

She leaned back, her eyes closing, "There be someon else wit' mahself... She be all angry at mahself ah be thinkin'... Not be happy wit' mahself at all..." Malis looked over towards the paladin and made a face. "Ah not be likin' it when people not be happy wit' mahself... it be makin' me feel all sad inside... like ah be all small an' insignificant."

Asinity peered at Malis for a moment, and scratched the whiskers on his chin pensively. "She was angry at you? Only with words, or...was she physically harming you, if I might ask?"

This confused the troll for a moment as she sat there and thought. "Ah dunno..." She spoke after a long while. Ah be thinkin' that we be fightin'... ah be knowin' that ah be fightin' someone... maybe?" Malis looked down at the ground her deep red eyes flickering purple as she searched her mind for the answers.

The elf cleared his throat a little, and leaned back in his chair. "There is a name that I might place with this other troll, Malis. I believe I may already know who it was, but...just to be certain..." Asinity paused, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees. "...does the name I'mani, ring a bell?"

"She another one o' t' Symphony that ah not be meetin' yet?" Malis tilted her head to the side as she spoke. "That be soundun' like a troll name... ya be havin' other trolls in t' Symphony?" She seemed a little excited at the thought, wanting to meet ones, like herself, who had traveled such distances to the city she now dwelt in.

Asinity shook his head. "No, I'm afraid not. She's...a death knight, raised by the Lich King and remains in his service. I heard her voice when Amirynth was captured, and you mentioning another troll almost cements the evidence." The Paladin glanced towards the ground, and frowned as his mind worked. "I've fought her once before. I have no idea why she would attack you and Amirynth, but...do you remember anything she said? Anything specific?"

The troll's face fell as she realized this was not someone that she would be meeting before a look of anger replaced her expression as she heard about the death knight's actions. "She be attackin' Rynn?" The shaman shook her head, "Where she be? Ah be makin' her pay mahself!" Malis almost rose to her feet, her hand gripping the axe tightly in the sudden burst of rage, something that was quite uncharacteristic of the usually passive troll.

The paladin's eyes narrowed. "I...have a theory, Malis, and I wish your consent first, before I attempt anything." He paused for a moment, then spoke again. "You and this troll bear some resemblances, and...the way you describe the troll you encountered back in that cave...Malis, I...I believe that this troll may be inhabiting you mind. I believe that you are under the influence of an evil spirit, and that the presence of this spirit may be what is preventing you to commune with the elements."

She looked down upon him, her eyes a deep violet. "Ya be thinkin' ah be wantin' t' hurt mah Rynn?!" Her jaw dropped, two tusk, a matched pair, contrasting her old uneven grin. "Why would ah be wantin' t' do that?!" The bout of fury still had not subsided any and it showed in her vehemence.

Asinity exhaled a deep breath, and looked her over closely. "Not you, Malis, but...perhaps a spirit inside of you. I know whose voice it was on the communicator, and it was not yours. However, you were the only troll I found there, and...Malis, you have the same color hair, and it's difficult for me to do this, but I simply want to be certain."

Nodding quickly, the troll sat up straight. "Ah be doin' anythin' t' be helpin'... what do ah need t' be doin'?" She looked down at her hands, one of which was stroking the pommel of her axe. She didn't like the idea of there being someone else in her head. She said as much. "It be like there be someone lookin' over mah shoulder... that be kinda creepy... An' ah not be likin' that she be usin' mahself t' be hurtin' peoples."

The elf gave a nod and stood, eying Malis for a moment. "This may hurt a little, but if there -is- something inhabiting your mind or body, I can assure you that I will purge it. Now...you must hold still, and clear your mind. Relax." Asinity held his hands out towards Malis, and closed his eyes, his head lowered slightly. "Are you ready?"

"Like meditation yes?" The troll watched him closely with sharp eyes. remembering the last time he touched her, she hesitated. "Ya not be doin' t' same thin' ya be doin' last time?" She worried about the light, wanting to shy away a little.

Chapter 8: Mistakes can sometimes prove to be dangerous... (cont.)

Asinity kept his hands held out, and shook his head. "This is not intended to hurt, Malis, only to bring the spirit from the body. If it hurts, the pain will be minimal. You must only clear your mind and relax." He said, giving a nod. "I will handle the rest."

rusting him, the troll nodded back, taking a deep breath. "Ah be ready when ya be." She wiggled slightly, getting into a more comfortable position before closing her eyes. She let herself relax, concentrating on her breathing and counting softly under her breath, something she had been tought to do when first learning to be a shaman.

he paladin bowed his head again, eyes closed. He mirrored the troll's concentration as Light lifted like tendrils from his fingertips. Small murmurs escaped his lips as he chanted. Gradually, the Light wove its way through the air towards Malis, aimed for her chest.

As the Light slithered onto the troll's body, a warmth was felt upon her skin, but soon the troll felt a pain in her temple, like the beginning of a headache. Asinity opened his eyes, but remained channeling the spell. He watched as Malis' hair turned lighter in shade, and the wrinkles on her face become more pronounced. His brows drew together and his mouth hung slightly agape as he observed a spirit being pulled from the body, appearing as if the troll had an aura and it was being sucked away from the skin. Oddly, Asinity thought, the spirit was being pulled towards the axe that Malis held.

The troll whimpered slightly as she felt the pounding in her head grow in response to him chant. Quietly in the back of her mind the ever present drums got louder as Malis felt a cold shiver wash over her body. Something came over her, pressing at her, pushing her from all sides and she tried to open her eyes for a moment to tell Asinity what was going on. Her eyes stayed close, not responding to her wishes. Getting a little frantic, Malis tried to lift her arm to no avail, her consiousness getting weaker and weaker as time went on. Just before things completely went black, the troll opened her eyes, glowing a bright pale blue. "Why hello there Lord Asinity. Fancy bein' here again... an' wit' yaself in audiance? My my, ah be thinkin' ah be quite special."

Asinity exhaled a deep breath, as if relieved. His hands dropped to his sides, but when the troll spoke, one of his ears flickered and he raised his gaze, looking upon her. Asinity mouth hung open as he stared upon what he had done. "******** grinned at him and lashed out with her arm, catching the paladin on the chest and thrusting him backwards, off the couch and onto the floor behind him. With a growl she stood up, advancing towards Asinity with one purpose in mind. "Ah be thinkin' if ya be knowin' how t' give mah freedom, then ya be knowin' how t' take it away. An' ah not be wantin' t' let ya get t' advantage like that warlock b***h." The death knight stood over him, her height seeming much bigger than Malis, a faint cold aura collecting about her person.

The wind taken out of him, Asinity writhed on the floor for a moment, a pained expression upon his face. Reacting as quickly as he could, he swiped at the troll's legs with his foot, attempting to trip her or get her to jump back.

She hopped back with a laugh. "Ooooh, ya be as feisty as t' other! This be fun!" I'mani moved forward quickly and kicked at his side, making the movement short and precised. Stepping back once more she lashed out with her food again, this time trying to catch him on his shoulder. "Up ya come, it be easier t' fight ya when ya be upright..." Bodily picking him up she threw him against the wall, not quite as easily as the warlock had been, but still with a resounding thud.

Asinity grunted as he slid to the ground, against the wall. Shaking his head to clear his vision, he then stood and bared his teeth, assuming a defensive stance. "Just like you to attack someone who's on the ground. Come at me this time, b***h." He growled, balling his hands into fists.

With a laugh, the troll did as he asked, moving towards him and throwing a few punches at him. The few that missed hit the wall with a loud crack, small dents appearing in the stone as a waft of cold air drifted from them. She caught him on the side of his head, following with a few jabs at his midsection, the feral grin never leaving her face. "Ya gonna fight back any knight?" She jeered at him, bating him with her words. "Of ya be maybe wantin' ya other eat t' match t' one ah be groomin' t' other day?"

The paladin blocked as many blows as he could, striking a few of his own as often as he could. He quickly became aware that with a wall behind him, his movement was too limited. Acting as fast as he could, he punched downward at the troll's thigh, and rolled to the side, the door to Malis' house hanging on its hinges a few feet behind him.

The change in direction of his attack caught her off guard for a moment and I'mani took a moment to swing around. Striding forward she growled, the fury shining within her glowing ice-filled eyes. "Where ya be goin'? Ah not be done wit' ya yet!" Grabbing him by the shoulders she listed him up and tossed him again, this time following his pathway with a fist to his head.

Asinity flew through the door and preceded to bounce off the porch, and rolled on his side down a few steps, skidding to a halt on the paved stone of Silvermoon. He coughed once, wincing, and opened an eye to glance at his surroundings.

Ro'neylee was glad for the cool shade of the Shephard's Gate as she stepped inside the city of Silvermoon. She wiped the sweat from her brow as she slowed her quick pace to a slow trot, her faithful companion, Brio, padding along at her side. They had just come in from the forests after a long day of training. It felt good to be out and about in the sun once more, her body relearning her training as a Farstrider slowly but surely. She and Brio had returned to the city for some well deserved rest but fancy had her still jogging along, making a slow victory lap of sorts around the city. As she came upon the Royal Exchange, she was surprised to see a familiar figure rolling down the steps of one of the homes. The ranger blinked a few times and slowed down, making her way hesitantly to the Paladin. "Ah...Asinity?" she asked, puzzled as she looked down at him, clover green eyes regarding him with concern. "Are you quite alright?"

With one hand, the paladin grabbed his throbbing forehead, and then pointed towards the door with his other. He then struggled to get to his feet, but he was slowed by his numerous bruises and pains. "Get your bow...-Light- that hurt..."

Chapter 8: Mistakes can sometimes prove to be dangerous... (cont.)

Ro'neylee narrowed her eyes as she looked down at the Paladin. Though her gaze was upon Asinity, she swiftly pulled an arrow from her quiver, her dragon bone bow already in her hands. Stepping protectively in front of her fallen friend, she eyed the doorway from which he had tumbled, nocking an arrow in her bow. Brio, her faithful lynx, sensed her sudden change in mood and joined her at her side, the tan furr on the back of her neck standing up.

A low chuckling sounded from the now busted door frame. "Ya be thinkin' a little arrow be stoppin' mahself?" She stepped forward and eyed the pair with a toothy grin. "Ah be thinkin' ya got a bit o' surprise comin'." Advancing, the death night towered over the smaller female blood elf and leered. "Ya be nothin' t' mahself, Ah be thinkin' that ya be wise t' move out o' t' way before ah be forced t' hurt ya."

Sizing up the Troll, Ro'neylee stood her ground, feet firmly planted. "A lot of talk for one so outnumbered, Troll." She whistled sharply and Brio suddenly came to life, sprinting around the Troll and lunging at her back, powerful claws and teeth aiming to cut into her foe. Ro'neylee took the moment to dance backward and leap up onto the back of a nearby bench, perching there gracefully. She knocked back an arrow and let it fly, then another and another. Within the span of a few seconds she had sent out several arrows, all flying true to her target.

Without looking, I'mani threw out her arm, twisting just enough to catch the feline with her arm. With a smoothe motion she used the cats momentum, lifting the creature over her head and tossing him casually towards the bushes nearby. "Pah, ya be better than that!" Knocking two of the arrows out of the air with her other arm, she managed to dodge two more, the last one catching her on the shoulder with a resounding thud. Without missing a beat she pulled it out and waggled it at the hunter. "An' ya might be wantin' t' use better arrows." With a few quick steps she closed the distance between them and picked up the bloodelf easily by the throat. "An' now ya be in t' way." I'mani tossed Ron to the side like a sack of stones.

Asinity, now given a few moments to recover, stood just as I'mani made her way to Ro'neylee. Acting as quickly as he could, the paladin closed his eyes and sent a bolt of Holy Light towards the troll's back. "Find your mark, my Light."

Ro'neylee gasped as she was so easily tossed by the large Troll. As she fell, she tucked and rolled, a grunt escaping her lips as the impact drove the air from her lungs. Another whistle recalled Brio to her side, the feline in better shape than her master. Cats, after all, always land on her feet. Shaking some leaves from the bush out of her mane, Brio chuffed softly and helped Ro'neylee to her feet. The Sin'dorei winced as she felt the new bruises and perhaps a broken rib. But she lifted her bow again, a growl rising in her throat. She let loose more arrows and darted backwards behind a fountain, whistling once more. Brio obediently moved to the top of the fountain, soaking her fur. She let out an angered roar and lunged off of her elevated spot at the Troll.

Arching her back at the sudden blast of pain that sank between her shoulder blades, I'mani turned to face the paladin with a feral growl. "You!" She lunged for him, her fingers clawed and thew a punch towards his chin. Ignoring the arrows as they thunked into her side and back, she kicked out as the feline sprang towards her, halting Brio's attack once more.

Reeling with the blow to his chin, Asinity took a few steps back and steadied himself. I just need one moment... He thought, narrowing his eyes at his opponent. While the troll was occupied with the feline, Asinity lifted one hand in the air, and as the Light swirled about his palm, an ethereal hammer made of the Light formed in his hand. His fingers clenched around the handle, and he grit his teeth in urgency. "Take this, Drakkari!" Asinity yelled, and threw the hammer as hard as could. It broke upon contact with her chest as she turned towards him, the Light shattering into the air. The wrinkles upon her face tightened in her moment of paralization, and without another word, Asinity dashed back into the house and picked up Malis' two-handed axe, Fluffy.

Ro'neylee watched in shock as Brio flew back into the fountain, slamming against the stone and then crumpling down into the shallow water. Brio let out a pathetic mew, trying to rise even though she was obviously dizzy and injured. Ro'neylee knelt next to her companion in the water, her boots soon soggy as she hushed the loyal animal to remain still. She murmured softly to the feline in her native language, Thalassian rolling off her tongue soothingly. Then she looked up at the Troll, her clover green eyes glowing with her anger and the need for vengeance. She saw Asinity slip back into the house and noticed that the Troll was stunned. She knocked back another arrow, ready to let loose another assault on her foe.

The troll turned towards the paladin as she heard his yell. The feline delt with, she moved towards him again, only to see the blast of Light hit her chest. With eyes wide she felt her body stiffen as the Light coursed through her veins in a sudden rush. Dazed, she was blinded for a moment, unable to think or see clearly.

The axe felt a little light in his hands, but he knew it would be the difference of advantage against the Drakkari troll. He strode out of the door with the axe in-hand, and eyed the troll appraisingly. Aim for the legs...or the head? I could cut her down to size, but...no. Don't waste time. Finish her off quickly. The paladin nodded to himself and made his way down the staircase toward the troll.

Voices came back to her first, and then her vision as the brightness of the Light faded from her eyes. Shaking off most of the stun, I'mani blinked, clearing her vision completely and looking around for the paladin. He was no where to be seen and the troll frowned with a fetal growl. Twisting around towards the fountain she spotted the fallen form of the large cat and the bloodelf who stood, bow at the ready. Still not seeing the paladin, I'mani decided to focus on the hunter who had been a thorn in her side since she had arrived. With a scowl the death knight struck, crouching down and charging the hunter, her teeth bared.

Ro'neylee lowered her bow and easily dodged the larger, heavier female. She was much smaller an certainly not as powerful as the Drakkari, but she was fast. As she moved out of the Troll's way, she growled, "Enough!" She lifted her voice up, then, calling out to the guards of the city, "Anar'alah belore! Fallah na!"

Almost stumbling down the staircase, the leather-clad paladin made his way onto the paved stone street, and grunted as he saw I'mani trying to grab at Ro'neylee. He nodded affirmatively to himself, and kicked forward, running as fast as his aches and pains would allow. When he was but seven feet away from the troll, Asinity jumped into the air as he lifted his axe, and attempted to plant the head of his axe right in the center of the troll's skull.

Her hands met with thin air as the female dodged out of the way. With a ferocious snarl, the death knight spun around only to hear the hunter call out for the guards. She stood still, glancing around her for a moment. The shadow arched above her head and I'mani looked up towards the paladin who was trying to attack her. "Ah not be thinkin so!" Yelling at his movements she grabbed him as he almost landed on her and heaved, throwing him over her shoulder as she did so. Her hands closed around the shaft of the weapon and she wrenched it from his grasp as he fell. Crouching down in the same movement, she eyed the pair, axe at the ready, trying to decide who she wanted to take out first.

Asinity's body was twisted as I'mani wrenched the axe from his gasp. The paved stone met his back as he thudded heavily against the ground. The paladin let forth a pained grunt, and his body curled as he winced in pain. "Gods...damn it..." He grimaced, and tried to stand, but gritted his teeth as pain slithered up his back.

Ro'neylee watched the whole exchange between the Paladin and the Drakkari in disbelief. How was it possible that this Troll was so damned strong. She knocked another arrow but, even with her precise aim, she worried about hitting Asinity. Finally, she heard the rush of city guards behind her and she let out a sigh of relief. The guards swiftly assessed the situation and advanced towards I'mani.

The guards rushed forward, surrounding the death knight with weapons and thick shields that gleamed in the last of the sunlight. With narrowed eyes she spat on the ground. "Bah, beingin' in friends be no fun. Ah be seein' ya later knight." With a muttered growl she thrust her arm towards the ground where a dark swirling grew, expanding into a death gate that she stalked towards. The guards moved in close, attempting to stop her but she lashed out with her arm, tossing a few of the guards into others, causing obstacles and confusion. In the next moment she was gone, the only trace of her was the rapidly dissipating gate.

Chapter 10: Plots and designs.

I'mani stalked through the DeathGate, keeping herself upright was difficult but she was able to gather her strength from a few wandering ghouls nearby. With a growl she turned on the orc who was following her. Glaring at the unconscious elf she spat on the ground. "Must be keepin' her alive fer a little longer... bah, ah be almost tempted t' kill her now." She looked across the barren landscape with a frown. At least this place was better than the cavern she had used last time. She still wasn't quite sure what prompted the location, possibly that damned troll in her head, but the chatter had stopped for now at least. Beckoning him over, she started her way down to the holds nearby.

Vicious grunted as he followed, He realized that they could use this elf as bait but started to suspect I'mani might be taking things a little too personal. Regardless he pressed on after her his dark plate boots making a small clank as his foot left the snow and began on hard stone of the Necropolis. Craning his neck he looked over the on his shoulder once more. Elves, what did everyone see in them...No matter. If all went as planned there would be none left and he was content with that.

The deathknight moved in further, following the familiar passage-ways to the area she knew would be free of others for a long while. She needed to keep this prisoner for her own purposes instead of letting some other lesser knight take the reins. Jerking her thumb towards the stone corner where Rynn was to be placed she wandered over to grab rope and other restraints. There was a convenient set of hooks and rings and though she didn't really want to keep her around alive, I'mani wasn't about to take any more chances.

Vicious walked towards the corner, grabbing her by the back of her dress he lowered his arm to where she was to be set and dropped her. Standing upright he walked over to a small table and took his great helm off. Two huge braids of black hair fell down his face and landed on his massive shoulders. The blue glow of his eyes lighting up some more of the dimly lit parts of the room. He scowled as an upstart bloodelf deathknight walked over to him. "Hey, I like the mutton chops, Don't mind what everyone else says, it is totally in style now." Vicious narrowed his eyes into a glare his grey black face contorting into a scowl as the bloodelf and the ghouls next to him started cackling. A massive black hand reached over the upstarts' head, gripping it tightly and lifting it off the ground where he was standing. Vicious turned him so that he could be the elf's last thought before noticing the startled look on its face as its head crushed into a pulp and the body fell to the ground, the ghouls scurrying off instantly.

She turned and raised an eyebrow at the orc before smirking. "Play time be laters." She eyed the corpse on the floor before kicking it to the side and making her way over to the bloodelf. Quickly wrapping loops of rope around her arms and legs she hoisted Rynn up until she looked like a trussed up pig. "Heh... now ya not be doin' anythin' little witch." I'mani slapped the bloodelf with an open palm before spinning around on her heel and glaring at the only ghoul left in the area. She needed some way to regain her strength and this pile of bones would suffice. Turning on it she muttered a few words, expending the last of her runic energies into a spell that sucked the last of the creatures unlife. Stretching she grinned, licking her lips in reflex as the ghoul scattered into a pile of refuse. "Ahhh, that be much better..." She chuckled hollowly. "Now where we be?" Eying the elf she thought about the communicator. How was she going to contact Asinity this time?

Vicious snarled a little looking at the broken bloodelf before him before resting his eyes on the tied up girl. "What now" a deep cold chill of a voice lowly booms, directing towards I'mani. He really had no idea what this dead troll had in mind and frankly didn't care much as long as it furthered his own agenda.

"We be needin' t' be sendin' a message t' a certain bloodelf." The drakkari considered her options for a long moment. "With this face ah can be goin' around their blasted city wit' no opposition. We be needin' more warriors if we be doin' this right. She seem t' have peoples." I'mani ripped the tabard Rynn had been wearing off her chest with a smirk. What else could be the best way to get that paladin moving? "Ah be needin' ya t' be findin' some like minded... Ah be goin' t' see t' trolls... maybe t' Hakkari be good allies in t' fight. It be time t' be seein mah brethren... payin' them a visit..." She smirked, "We be takin' t' city by storm."

Vicious grunted with a nod, fully understanding. Grabbing his Rune Axe he began walking out of the Ziggurat, his dark plate boots once again going from stone into the soft white snow before making a death gate of his own. He was going to find a connection to this paladin through his friends. It was the perfect plan. Grinning a bit he walked slowly into the portal preparing for his next fight.

Kalastrophie sat by a tree near the cliff, watching the waterfall in Eversong. He hummed lightly, enjoying what little time he had off until he went back to Light's Hope.

"Hmm..I wonder where the Captain has been lately...." he questioned as he fiddled around with the chain mail upon his glove. "Hope nothing has happened to him."

As Kalastrophie pondered, a cold chill ran down his spine, and the air around him began to get cooler and cooler. Startled with the change of temperature, Kalastrophie looked around for the source of the chill. He turned to look behind him, only to be met by towering, dark, orc in black and blue plate armor. Thru a small opening at the bottom of the Orc's helm, Kala could see grinning teeth.

Kalastrophie, confused with the presence of a Death Knight, stared at the Orc. "Um...Hi?..."

The Orc picked up Kala and threw him down into Stillwhsiper pond, and soon followed after. As the orc fell down towards Kala, he clenched his fist and brought it up behind him. Kala fell into the water with a great splash, which dazed him. He slowly began to swim for the shore, not knowing what just happened, but luckily dodging the orc's fist thru his daze.
He looked back and saw to orc, wuickly realzing what just happened.

"..Aw...Fel." He mumbled as he shot out a light bolt and the orc as he swam towards the shore. The orc reeled back, struck upon the face by the bolt. His helmet flung off and plunged into the pond. He looked back at Kala, still grinning, and stood upon the water. Kala looked as he stood upon a frozen platform, "....Oh...Unfair....Just unfair..."

Kala climbed up onto the shore, only to be picked up again by the orc. He was brought up face to face with the orc, able to see his icy blue eyes and clay like skin. "You know Asinity?" growled the orc.

"-cough- Who wants to know?" replied Kala.

"Do you know him!?" said the orc as he punched Kala in the gut. Kala coughed up blood, unable to speak. He could only nod in reply. "I want you to give'em a meesage for me." He threw Kala off to the side by the rocky hill side. "Tell him he has to face Imani."

"W..w-cough- who?" asked Kala, struggling with pian. He pulled out his guild intercom and mumbled a message thru "Someone out there?...I..I could use some help here? *faint voice from the back 'What are you doing, little elf? Calling your friends! You think they can stop me?!'*"

The orc grabbed Kala and brought him up again, "Well let's see how long it takes for someone to help you, elf." The orc bashed his head into Kala's, and threw him back to the hillside.

"You're...You're not going to get away with this....You will die..." Kala struggled to say as he spat out blood.

"And who is going to stop me? YOU?! Look at you! You're slumped there, bleeding, ransacked, ruined! And you claim to be a paladin! HA!"

Kala again mumbled into the intercom "Is anyone out there?...-cough- ANYONE? *"No one cares for you, elf! No one is going to get you!..Shame really, I wanted you to get the message thru..."*"

The orc stepped up and grabbed the intercom from kala, and spoke into it "TO ANYONE WHO IS LISTENING, YOU SHALL TELL ASINITY THAT HE MUST FACE IMANI!"

A voice came from the side, a new voice. "Who dares harm my friend?!"

The orc and Kala turned to see who spoke. There stood Terok, looking at the Orc with a fierce intensity. "You! Orc! You believe you will harm my friend without any consequences?!" He threw a green bolt, which flung back the orc. "You shall not harm him any further!"

The orc watched Terok as tree spirits began to surround him. As one, Terok and the spirits moved closer to the orc. "********!..." mumbled the orc, as he threw open a death gate. "This is not the last you'll hear of me! If Asinity doesn't do what he is told!...I will kill off your puny members until he does!" He ran into the portal, and escaped.

Terok scowled has the orc fled. He turned around to find the elf. "Such a young one..." He said as he lifted Kala up and brought him to a nearby bench. "Do not worry. Help will come shortly.." Terok pulled out his intercom and called someone to come to Eversong as fast as they could.

Minutes past by, and a priest cam running from Silvermoon, his hat poinr flapping up and down in air. "Terok, sorry for being late. Who was harmed!?"

"This young elf, Kelion. He was attacked by an orc death knight....Badly injured. I must leave however, so I need you to stay here until he wakes." said Terok.

"Of course, of course. I will do what I can." replied Kelion, pulling out a strip of cloth to clean off Kalas's bleeding mouth. "My god what happened to you."

Kalastrophie slowly opened his eyes, coughing up more blood as he did. "Where -cough- is he..."

"Who?" questioned Kelion.

Kala pushed himself up, hissing in pain "The orc..Where'd he go!.."

"No no don't get up, your injured. Please, just lay. Let me get you some water." Kelion pulled out a flask of water and handed it to Kala. "Orc? ...What happened?"

"A death knight...Attacked me...Told me to give Asinity a message..Told me to tell him he has to face Imani..Whoever that is.."

Kelion nodded, mending Kala's arm. As he did, another Paladin walk towards them, dawning a Blood Knight taberd.

"Hello...I came as soon as I found out about the situation." He pulled out a notepad and a quill, and looked towards Kala. "My name is Tyranithos, and I must record of all activities that happen within Eversong. Please...Tell me what happened."

Kala stared at him, feeling a bit insulted since all he asked was what happened. "Well.....I was attacked by an orc death knight...Up by the cliff at the waterfal..beat me to a pulp, as you can see -stare-....Tol dme to tell Asinity that he must face Imani...Tho I do not know who this Imani is."

Tyr nodded, writing down everything he heard. "Is that all?...Hm?..Ok then." He put the notpad away and sighed "Sorry for that...I hate having to do the formal matters." His personality changed from calm to worried as he spoke. "Are you ok?"

Kala nodded slowly, getting up. He sighed, rubbing his arm. He looked towards Kelion "Thank you....I'm sure this was an unexpected hassle..."

Kelion smiled "No no, anything for another memebr..Um..I am Kelion by the way, I do not believe if we have met."

Kala nodded "I am Kalastrophie, it is nice to meet to you..." He sighed and look up and Tyr then back down to Kelion. "I'm sure you two have other errands to attend to.. Please do not furhter burden yourself by helping me, I will be ok."

Tyr and Kelion look to eachother and then at Kala, and spoke in unison "Are you sure?"

He nodded back "Im sure....Now please, leave." He watched the two nod and leave towards Silvermoon. Kelion looked back and called out.

"I don;t want you to move around much! Let your body heal!"

Kala laughed and nodded "I promise I won't do anything serious for the day!" As the two faded out of sight, Kala sighed. He summoned his Warhorse and sowly got up upon it. "Light's Hope..." He mumbled as he slowly rode off.

Chapter 12: Just say Yes.

Amirynth walked in after a long day, a pile of items in her arms. She had spent most of the afternoon hunting for the right pieces for her projects, a task that had been a little harder than she had thought. Placing most of it by the doorway where she stored the larger items, Rynn stepped into the place she lived in Nagrand. It was then she noticed the figure standing in the middle of the room, it's back towards her. "Hello?" With a frown she stepped cautiously forward, hand open, ready to cast a spell as the figure turned towards her, drawing a dagger and extending his wrist blades on his left hand. At his crouch she took a step back before strengthening her resolve and uttering, "Why are you here? This is my home."

The figure straightened up, speaking in a familiar voice. "Your home?" He chuckled as the helmet was removed to uncover long dark hair. "Since when was it only yours?" Zevron sheathed his daggers and retracted the wrist blade, a smile upon his face. The rogue looked much older than before, and yet his blue eyes still shone with merriment. He took a long look at the warlock who stood before him before lightly taking the items she still held in her hands as she stood there, speechless. "Didn't expect me did you?" He placed them to the side and stood back, the familiar grin upon his face.

"Zev!" Rynn found her voice and darted forward. "I d-d-didn't think... Oh it's nice to see you!" She hugged him tight before letting him go, a little self conscious. She felt his hand upon her chin and then his lips upon hers as he pulled her in close. Leaning into him, the warlock felt his warmth surround her.

The rogue grinned down at her, brushing her red hair out of her face, her mismatched eyes gazing into his. "The one and only!" Zev kissed her once more, hands cupping her face. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" He noticed she had changed also, a fire in her eyes, an aura that surrounded her. Gone was the shy, introverted girl he once knew. She still had a softness about her but now it was paired with a strength within that gave her confidence that she once did not posses.

Rynn smiled lovingly, "It has... it has been so long, but I am g-g-glad you are ok. That you are safe." She reached up to run a finger down his cheek before noticing his hair pulled back into a long ponytail. Running her fingers through the long, dark strands she exclaimed, "Your hair g-g-grew..." The bloodelf tilted her head to the side as she examined him with new eyes. "It suits you,... even if it is a little d-d-different..."

"Yeah, Imma hit up that Gobo in Dal for a cut as soon as I get back. This was the first place I came back to." He grinned down at the warlock, "Of course." The rogue hadn't let her go, his arm still wrapped around her waist. Even though he stood in heavy leather armor and his array of weapons upon his body, Zev felt more relaxed than he had in a while. "It is even better to see you. After staring at undead, bears, orcs and the colour blue, you are a welcome sight my love!" He picked Rynn up and twirled her around quickly before putting her back down and embracing her.

"I'm g-g-glad, it is wonderful to see you." Amirynth squeaked a little as she was spun, her arms wrapping around his waist. His excitement was infectious and the stresses of her day just melted away leaving her feeling energized. Her red hair swung out behind her in the style she always wore it, almaost back to the length it was before it had been hacked off during her captivity. "I... I missed you too." When she felt solid ground beneath her feet she smiled up at him with a small giggle. "Oh Zev, b-b-blue is my -favorite- colour, just like your eyes." Many nights the warlock had worried about him in secret but there he was before her. She was very happy to see the rogue who had stolen her heart.

Zevron grinned, remembering how Rynn always made him feel better, no matter what he had been through or what he was about to face. Together they had fought through insurmountable odds, fighting demons side by side, training together and then finally surviving the ordeal that had surfaced with Malis' return. Even now, she was someone he looked forward to come home to. One who cherished him and was there for him if he should ever ask. Zev turned towards the inside of their home and beckoned. "Come with me, I have something for you."

The warlock nodded, following Zev into the darkened living area. Gone were the crates and piled of fabric, the clutter that had littered the floor and the bits of copper and iron ore. The surfaces were dust free and well kept, shelves filled with books that were stacked neatly. A shaft of light from above illuminated the small table where unlit candles stood. As Rynn walked in she lit the wicks out of habit with a flick of her finger, a testament to how strong she had grown. Slowly a warm glow filled the room and she stood before the rogue, the candlelight sending flickers of gold through her red hair. "Been busy?" Amirynth smiled at Zev, tilting her head to the side curiously.

"You have no idea..." Zevron placed his helmet on the table and slid it aside along with a pair of gloves that had been hiding a small green ribboned gift. Picking it up carefully he turned towards the warlock and took a deep breath. "And fighting for my life every single day I've been gone has made me realize something. Life is short... I mean we're only getting older, and I'd rather die than live my life without you." He handed her the carefully wrapped gift before kneeling before her, looking up with his signature stupid grin. "Happy Winter Veil, Amirynth."

She took the small gift with shaking hands. "Oh Zev..." Pulling at the ribbon gently Rynn let it fall as she pulled the delicate box from it's wrappings. She gasped as the jewel within was revealed, almost not believing what she saw before her.

"So, what do you say Rynn. Will you marry me?"

Tears sprung to her eyes as she looked down at the dark haired rogue. His blue eyes sparkled, drawing her in like they always did. He made her happy. She could be herself with out worry of what he thought of her, he gave her a place to live, a home and a reason to stay here. Amirynth was speechless for a long while, her mind racing. They had been through so much together and there was nothing more that she wished for in the whole of Azeroth and the lands beyond. "Zev..." She took the diamond from the box and slipped onto her finger. "I would b-b-be honored... I... I am... oh my..." Placing a hand on his shoulder she squeezed it lightly as she nodded, her smile mirroring his.

Zevron stood, wiping the boat load of sweat from his eyebrows. "Great!" He wrapped his arms around Rynn and pulled her close, feeling her arms around his neck. Brushing her bangs away from her face he looked into her mismatched eyes he thinking about how he was the luckiest man alive. "I love you."

"Oh Zev... I love you too..." She kissed him softly.

The rogue chuckled lightly. "You know, I've battled the Scourge, watched my home city fall, braved the depths of Blackrock Mountain, faced the wrath of waking up Mordagen early, even flew on a wind rider! And you know what?" He let out a deep breath. "This was by far the single most nerve-wracking experience I've ever dealt with. Those few second when you were opening it... I almost died." He shook his head in disbelief.

Amirynth looked up at him with a bright smile. "I'm g-g-glad you did not." She kissed him again, running a finger down his cheek before tapping his chin lightly. "You are an amazing person Zev... I am very lucky to have met you and now... I am the luckiest!" She felt the thing band around her finger and felt her heartbeat seem to quicken as she blushed softly.

"I try, really hard." Zev squeezed his love tightly before taking another breath. "Now, the bad news..." At her concerned look he shook his head. "Well it's not horribly bad... See, the thing is, I'm only back for a short amount of time. They still need me... Apparently I'm skilled in what I do, imagine that!" He ran his fingers through Rynn's hair as he spoke. "You see... our unit is tasked with one of the major plots to take down Arthas... I'm not sure when they will call us back, we are on a break, but it shouldn't be that long..." He let out a worried sigh before smiling bravely. "But lets worry about that later eh? Lets enjoy the Now!"

Amirynth tried not to look worried as she heard the news. She had heard stories about the battle up in Northrend. How the fallen get back up and joined the armies of the scourge. They had been directly affected by the scourge many times, the most recent when I'mani had attacked both themselves and the ones they cared about. Taking a quick breath and nodding decisively, she pushed back her worries. "I have faith in you. Try to stay safe and you will g-g-get through it fine." She clenched his fists in hers and held them up to her chest, looking into his eyes. "You managed to go toe-to-toe with I'mani and save my life. Arthas will be a p-p-piece of cake."

The rogue nodded and squeezed back, "No one can take down the Magnificent Zevron!" He bent down to kiss her forehead before shaking his hair out of his eyes. "But alas, I need to get this hair cut... I'm just not me without my signature hair style." He winked and followed it with a reassuring grin, pulling away slightly, "I shall not be long. I plan to spend all the time I have off duty with you." There were a few more errands he needed to complete as well but they wouldn't take too long, her was sure of it.

The warlock nodded again before she suddenly remembered the small parchment she had been working on. Holding up a finger she smiled, "I've been working on something... it's not as special as yours but I hope you will like it. I wrote it myself..." Moving towards the cupboard she pulled out a scroll that had been tied up with a dark burgundy ribbon, one that matched the tabard Zevron always wore. Walking back towards him she tilted her head to the side questioningly "Would you like your gift now, or when you get back?"

"Now!" Zev almost exploded before she was done with her sentance.

With a chuckle Rynn handed him the small scroll of parchment. It had been specially made so that it could withstand the elements so that he could take it with him without worrying about damaging it. Along with a simple sketch of Rynn and Zev together there was a carefully scribed poem. As she let the rogue read it, Amirynth recited the sonnet from memory.

"Twin blades of steel move with such passion and grace
Inspiring protection to which thou doth employ
Demons of dreams doth vanish without a trace
To bring peace and caring, received with much joy.
Though the passage be hard and fraught with great pain
Through perils outnumbered and and wonders astound
Sacrificing all, thou ist of honor and fame
Unto which the random acts of fate hath bound
Thou tender, sweet face where upon I gazeth
Thy love, from thine eyes, my content I derive
Much steals my breath with fulfilled soul amazeth
As trust and raw courage shall together thrive
To finally feel yearning without measure
Mine be thy love and thy love is mine treasure
"

Zevron smiled greatly, "Perfect! I love it!" He carefully tucked the gift away in one of his many pockets and patted it gently. "I can't believe you wrote that! That's amazing. Literally the second best thing I have ever heard in my life!" The rogue nodded to emphasize his statement, his eyes twinkling merrily. "I see you write in that book of yours sometimes but never thought you were a poet." He saw her blush at his comments and pulled her in close to kiss her before she could say anything to the contrary.

"I'm glad you like it Zev," Rynn was finally able to utter when she caught her breath. With a playful smile she raised an eyebrow, "So if that was the second best, what was the first greatest thing you have ever heard?" The warlock figured it was something he had found on his travels, maybe a song or something like the clang of steel. She could think of many things better, even the sounds of Nagrand in the early morning hours was something that she treasured.

"That would be your heavenly voice."

His simple statement caught her thoughts and blew them clean away. She felt her cheeks grow warm again and looked down, unable to hide the smile that was formed by his praise. Her heart beat faster in her chest and she leaned up against him, feeling his heartbeat in time with her own. "Thank you..." She uttered after she was able to think clearly once more. She felt his hand on her chin, pulling her face up gently and his lips on her as they kissed again. Rynn felt her knees weaken a little as she kissed him back, her breath catching in her throat. She was floating somewhere in the clouds, his hands on her shoulder the only thing tethering her to the ground.

The rogue was the first to pull away, if regretfully. "I'm going to get this hair cut and pick up a few things from Dalaran. Got some people to see too since I'm back. Shouldn't be long though." Zevron knew that if he didn't start moving now he'd want to stay and he hoped to be back before the sun disappeared. If he timed it right he'd be back just in time for them to watch the sunset together. He turned to gather up his things, making sure his knives and such were in their customary locations. Turning back and grasping hold of Rynn's hand, Zev kissed it lightly. "Need anything while I'm out?" He looked up at her curiously.

Amirynth shook her head with a grin, "Only yourself."

"Well then I'll see if they got any of that in Dalaran." came the reply.

Rynn laughed merrily, picking up the items she had come home with meaning to clean them up while he was gone. "I am sure nothing you find there can top the amazing Zevron..." She moved them to the now empty table and started organizing them into piles. There was a few things she wanted to get out of the way before his return. "Have a safe journey Zev." She smiled towards him.

"You sure?" Zevron opened his eyes wide in mock disbelief. "They do have Doughnuts..." He chuckled lightly before making his way to the door, intending to make this a quick run. When he reached the door frame he turned and watched the warlock as she started to fuss with the items she had bought that day. Even though she was still quiet she had become quite open with him, even bantering back and forth some nights. He wasn't quite sure what it had been but something about her seemed to shine, that spark he had seen so very long ago when they had met had blossomed into something special. The rogue shook his head with a grin, "Oh and one more thing!" He called out as he left, "I LOVE YOU!"

Chapter 13: Prologue

"I have a surprise for you, well two actually..." Rynn looked up at the rogue with a smile before reaching out her hand for his. At Zev's curious look she took his hand and lead him out of their home to where her windrider sat lazily basking in the sun. While exploring she had found something quite amazing and wanted to share it with him. "And I apologize ahead of time..." She knew he was not a fan of flying, as much as he preferred to keep that fact hidden. With a pat on the lion's mane, the warlock climbed onto his back and then motioned for Zev to sit behind her.

He did so reluctantly. "So many surprises!" Zev felt a little apprehensive but had faith in Rynn that it would be worth it. As if to echo his own thoughts he heard her utter the very same words. Ready? He'd never be ready! He shook his head at her question before adding "No... but go on anyways." At her command, they suddenly shot straight up into the air. It took all his concentration not to grip hold of her thin waist too tight as they rose into the air. Keeping his eyes closed the rogue relied on Rynn's guidance to get them to the destination of her choosing. It was over before he knew it.

After making sure the winged lion landed squarely, Rynn turned back to glance at the rogue before uttering a soft. "We're here!" She quickly slid off onto the soft green grasses before helping Zev off the windrider and making sure he was steady on the ground. "You can open your eyes now," She chuckled lightly and held his hand tight.

Zevron opened his eyes to see the world far beneath them on one of the many floating rocks above Nagrand. He took a deep breath inward and eyed the edge. "This is... so confusing. Ground... but flying." He took another quick look around before turning to admire the large tree growing from the center, careful to keep his vision from drifting to the view. "I'm conflicted..."

She smiled and walked to the edge of the floating island to glance down at the lands below before looking out towards where the sun was starting to set. Soon, both moons would be rising, the larger one almost illuminating the lush, fertile lands as if it was daytime. Walking up to wrap her arms around Zev's waist she leaned her head on his chest and gazed up lovingly. "The ground is sturdy yes? We can always put something up to stop p-p-people from falling off." She hugged him tighter for a moment before letting go and taking a few steps towards the open area, spinning around in a half circle.

"People from... oh... OOOOOoooh!" He looked around at the large island with new eyes. "I get it!" Having something there would definitely help but already he could see how the location was small and unique but still able to hold all they wanted to invite. He watched as Rynn spun back around to look at him with her miss-matched eyes and strode towards her. Gathering her up in his arms he leaned down to kiss her soft lips, " It's perfect!"

"You can even see our house from here." The 'lock smiled up at him, glad he liked her finding.

Zevron chuckled, "I'll take your word for it." The last thing he wanted to do was take a peek over the edge and end up taking a trip down without any of those nifty goblin-made contraptions to slow his fall. Pulling away slightly he tapped Rynn on the nose. "Hey... You know... you are one lucky woman." Stalling a response he put a finger to her lips before adding. "You are the only person I'd agree to marrying let alone up in the air." With a grin the rogue smoothed back her hair, kissing her forehead and smelling in her unique scent of floral mixed with the faint traced of oil from her lab projects.

Rynn snuggled in close, listening to Zev's heart beat as she looked out over the view. "I know I am lucky, I think so every day that I get to be with you." Running a hand down his chest, she looked up at the rogue with a small frown. "There are other p-p-places if you wanted to go there instead though." She wanted it to be a good location for the both of them and was happy to exchange vows anywhere.

"Not a chance!" Zev grabbed Rynn tight and spun her around, grinning at her surprised squeak. "This is it!" Setting down the one he loved more than anything, the rogue looked out over the horizon and nodded. This was the best spot they could have ever chosen.
