YAY! It looks like everyone had a great thanksgiving! We did here too. We had both families over here Thursday. We had 2 turkeys (a 10 & a 20lb) a ham shank, mashed taters, gravy, corn, green bean casserole, mashed sweet taters, enchilada casserole (not like yours fawN tho just my regular enchilada recipe but instead of rolling individual ones I layered it like spaghetti...it coulda been a little cheesier but it turned out good) jalapeno cheese corn bread, regular corn bread, stuffing, tamales, devilled eggs, salad, rolls, and 3 different pies (pumpkin, sweet potato & cheesecake) Everything turned out wonderful and everyone seemed to have a great time. We watched lots of football (darn Lions) ate lots of food and started a new tradition with a centerpiece of votives and before we ate everyone had to light a candle and say what they were thankful for. By the end of the meal the candles got all melty and the wax all ran together on the plate kinda making one big candle with lots of wicks. Just like we're all one big family.
The only thing i was upset about was Kevin's mom&dad didn't come over. We made a ramp for her (she's in a wheelchair) and we told her numerous times. I even called her personally on Monday letting her know what time dinner was and that we had a ramp for her. She called Kevin around 8pm on thanksgiving crying saying she didn't know we had a ramp for her. Which i personally have issues with. I mean why would we invite her and not have a way for her to get into the house *sigh*
ooops this is long. I guess i shoulda blogged about my thanksgiving before coming here huh? Sorry. Anyway, we have tons of leftovers so I'll be eating thanksgiving dinner for about a week lol

Well we tried to go see Harry Potter today during their first showing, and it sold out with the people right in front of us. cry We won't be able to go probably until next weekend now.

magikjaz We watched lots of football (darn Lions) Oh, I was going to tell you that Jason's dad and brother Alan are also Lions fans (I didn't know) and were watching the game and said they sympathized with you and their loss. Alan's favorite EVER team is the Lions, apparently. And he also likes the Red Wings and Pistons.. And how frustrating about Kevin's mom! Maybe she's one of those people you just need to beat it into their head and say "you're coming right? We have a ramp for you. We built a ramp! You know we have a ramp. The ramp is all ready for you. We can't wait for you to try out the ramp we just built. You're coming right?" I had my share of frustrations with my sister, Thanksgiving being one of those holidays where our differences make themselves very apparent, but it was still a good holiday nonetheless.

Today as the last day of the Thanksgiving weekend, we're going ice skating at an outdoor rink in the canyon where I remember going when I was little. Jade and Ella get to ice skate for their first times!
Then my sister picked us all up tickets to go see Harry Potter this evening. I'll remind them it's a good idea we show up kind of early, even though we already have tickets, because if they're selling out each showing, we want to be able to sit together!
Having a Thanksgiving leftover-plus-some dinner at our house yesterday was a big success! I cooked two new dishes for the feast: my spanish rice and chicken and spinach green chili enchiladas with cream of broccoli soup, and my mom and dad were both pleasantly shocked at my cooking skills!
Then we all played Cranium, which we bought for $20 on black friday. blaugh Have you all heard of this game? My sister especially loves family games, so I thought this was a good thing to get. There are a number of activities that can be drawn from cards, including blind pictionary, charades that you 'puppet' onto another person, a sort of pictionary done with clay sculpting, humming/whistling a tune for your team to guess, and spelling words backwards without writing it down and by alternating saying letters among your teammates! It was great fun!

i've heard of Cranium, it looks very good fun! Well done on suprising your parents with your cooking skills, even when you're an adult it always means something to please your parents doesn't it? 3nodding

OMG I LOVE CRANIUM!!! It's the best game ever!!! We used to have game nights with friends last year and that's what we played. I got to draw with my eyes closed and mimed stuff and played with clay...i can't wait to get it myself and have game nights again! And the best part is how much it made me feel like a kid again!
Jason's dad and Alan has good taste wink I'll have to send some Lions stuff your way soon....or Red Wings or Pistons....yep I'm a fan of all of them...thank goodness the RW and Pistons are winners recently
and awww *huggles* I'm so sorry you didn't get to see HP4 when you first planned. Tell me how you like it! Today I've been just relaxing and unwinding...re-reading Memoirs of a Geisha , eating turkey day leftovers, and listening to classical music until the night game comes on (J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!) it's so nice!
okay...i really need to blog some more....i have tons to say but it's all totally pointless *runs to blogger*lol

Jason really liked it too and has been raving about it to all his co-workers. He hasn't even read any of the books, but he likes the movies, especially the later ones that are more dark and less kid-friendly (although we took Jade to see it and she sat through the whole thing.) I wish they had included a few more things from the book (like at least MENTIONED the way in which each of the others got past the first task, because I can't remember) but all in all they did a really good job and I liked it! Well worth seeing at the theater.

I won't mention what she referred to as it may give things away for those not seeing it yet.

I finished it yesterday...i think it was my 3rd or 4th time reading it, i'm not sure. I can always tell when i'm getting close to the part i don't like so much cuz it takes me forever to get thru those few pages. I'm so excited about the movie! It opens Dec 9th here...i can't go opening weekend, but I'm going prolly that Monday...i work fri, Kevin works sat & Sun we have a work xmas party to go to. I found a site with awesome stills from the movie tho http://www.darkhorizons.com/2005/memoirsofageisha.phpAs for HP4 i felt the same way...I've been trying to get kevin to read the books but no go...he liked not knowing what's going to happen and have no pre-conceptions...he prolly won't read them until all the movies have come out silly kevin

Well, better late than never. We had a totally Las Vegas Thanksgiving... Hubby took the kids and I out to a buffet *YAY* and the up side of that was we had NO leftover bones two weeks later that never seem to make it into a soup/stew, in fact none of us even had Turkey on our plate rofl For that matter no one picked pumpkin stressed pie for desert, either. There was a 'traditional' (if you can call it that) meal over at my sister's house, but I managed to get out of it by telling her how badly hubby was wanting to take us to dinner to celebrate his promotion, and since my brother was working that day, it is not like it was going to be a major family get together. She is here every Tuesday and alot of Fridays, so there are plenty of chances to spend time with my sister other than balancing a playe on my knee in a house full of her 'interesting' friends.
