Skugga couldn't help but loosening her bite a little bit as Kahiga gave her the most painful slap of her life. Being cuffed by the Minders when she didn't behave back when she was a cub did not even compare. The red rage started to dissolve, but she held on. She needed to hold on to his foreleg and to the anger, because right now the violent energy of the red mist was what kept her going, despite the pain. It would take more to make her let go. Perhaps not much more, since the side of her face stung pretty badly, but it would take more than this.
She might not have the very best tact or timing, but she could be extremely stubborn when she wanted to.

He could try to pull himself free. Kahiga shook that idea off quickly, not wanting to give her the benefit of inflicting an injury he made worse. After all, he didn't want her to feel that special for beating him!
Kahiga snarled and slashed at her face again, claws extended and aiming to snag her ear and give her something else to think about than what she had in her jaws.

If she thought the first blow was painful, it was still nothing like the second one. Pain shot through her ear, and while it was far from lethal it certainly was distracting. Unable to hold on any longer, Skugga was forced to let go. The knowledge that ears are really sensitive would be filed away as useful information later, but right now it just hurt as hell. Her ear still throbbed with pain and she backed away as quickly as she could in case a third blow would come.
The pain seemed to clear her mind somewhat. While she was still enraged, she wasn't going berserk and she actually tried to think before making her next move. It had worked before, but on a much smaller opponent... But despite the gnawing feeling of doubt Skugga decided to try anyway. She launched herself at her opponent again, but in the last minute she threw herself at his legs instead of his body, trying her best to make a controlled fall that would hopefully send him off balance. And probably bruise her up in the process too...
