occasionally I get that I Will reach a point in a book where it bores me and I stop for a while. it has currently happened/happening with brisinger. part of the reason for this is that I will be reading anywhere from 2-4 or 5 books at a time.

Yeah. Some author's just plain out induce it, too. Paolini keeps swapping between Eragon, Nasuada, and Roran, and it's getting on my nerves!

*Exact same thing going on with me*

Yeah, Brisingr does that. Especially while reading like 4 books, which I always am.

Arrghh!!
Readers' block again! I couldn't even finish one of the books I was reading and remotely interested in. Can't read = can't write... NaNoWriMos is here... writers' block....
life sucks.

Oh I hate reader's block. After reading Artemis Fowl for the first time I couldn't read anything else for a month. Nothing else could compare. I've had the same problem with Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and Frank Beddor. I read their books and then suddenly nothing else can meet my suddenly unreasonable standards.

I find that planning a book ahead helps. After starting the Mary Russel series by Laurie R. King and realizing I wouldn't be able to stop with just the first book I started lining up other book that I know from reviews and summaries would at least amuse me. So I read the first MR book, then the IronMan novelization. Read the second MR, now I'm reading Anno Dracula and so on and so forth. It stops me from suffering Reader's Block because I'm not focused on the same characters and story line and it stops me from getting Series Burnout (you know, where after 5 books of the same series you become utterly sick of all the characters even though you thought you loved them). A pretty good system so far.
