A taste of the sky
Alright... I've done the simulations and this won't be my first time piloting a zoid.. this shouldn't be that hard right?
There is a first time for everything, and being a pilot who aims to be a part of the aerial force, this first was bound to happen sooner or later. Feelings of anticipation flooded through him as he was both excited and nervous about it. This might just be a training flight, but things could still go wrong. Being in the air added a third dimension to control after all; one that could lead to quite a devastating crash.
So there he sat, in the head of a Pteras, awaiting signal clearance for take off. There would be help, from both the AI and the people on the ground if things did go awry, but for the most part it was all on him.
"Alright, cadet. Everything is green. Ready for take off."
Nodding, Chase gripped onto the controls of the rental zoid and started the process to get off the ground. Once he was all set, the Pteras began to run forward to pick up some momentum. Soon the boosters kicked in and he was off.
The cadet gritted his teeth as he felt the g's during the ascent. Up towards the blue. Towards the clouds. His pulse began to race and his eyes were wide from adrenaline coursing through his veins.
"Take it easy, cadet. No need to climb so steeply."
Hearing his, Chase snapped out of it to an extent and eased up on the controls. Once the zoid had leveled out, he glanced down at the earth below. Everything seemed so tiny from up here! It was rather breath taking in a way too. Feeling a sense of giddyness, he almost wanted to start doing loop de loops, but managed to restrain himself on that. With the amount of flight experience he had, it really wasn't a good idea to start attempting to pull stunts and such.
The whole experience was awe inspiring for the cadet. And when he was called to come and land, he couldn't help but feel a little disheartened. And soon enough, he was on firm ground once again.
Once he was out of the Pteras, he looked up in the sky he had been in moments ago. Five minutes on the ground and he already couldn't wait to be back up there. But perhaps one day, he'd have a partner of his own to travel the skies together with.

Aegis
The annual presidential formal started out nicely. The mansion was rather impressive, as Chase found, and he was able to meet with a few of his peers at the gathering. During the President's speech however, black fog crept into the room, and gunshot rang out when the lights had flickered. The next thing he knew, their general had been shot!
He and Lewis, one of the cadets he had met, went to try and calm down the civilians, as well as try to get to the bottom of who tried to kill General Whitebane. Though he got separated from the other cadet, he ran into a few other military personnel, as well as a lady who found the weapon in her purse. One of the other soldiers then went off and managed to find the culprit.
As a sort of reward for helping in the process of finding the assailant, Chase was given his first personal Zoid; a white shield liger. Excited to see it, he went into the hangar after a few days to see if it had arrived. There, he met Lorna, another cadet whose partner is a GunSniper equipped with a Weasle Unit. They pinned down the Zoid that was now his, and once he was all set up, they went out for a run.
The whole experience was rather nice, to know that he was using a zoid that was now his partner, Aegis.
