He glanced up from the bone when she'd answered, watching her quietly, and smiled. "There's nothing to forgive." He said simply, lifting his shoulder and dropping it in a shrug. "You aren't the only one with a few... bad things in their past." His smile grew distant for a second, before he shook his head and looked at her again. "I'm sorry for asking." Not everyone would want to talk about that, but he'd met so few others that he'd forgotten some of his social manners.
His ears perked up a little at the mention of his pride, and he nodded slowly, smiling sadly. "I was. It..." He looked down at the bone. "Disbanded, I suppose. A while ago." He hadn't even been an adult before it happened; it seemed like it'd only happened a few days ago, perhaps a week, but it'd been at least a year and a half. Probably more. He wasn't so good at keeping track of time.
"I hope to join another soon, though." His smile grew a little brighter. "A pride called Ukuucha'Wafalme. I have a...friend, there." He hoped she was well, that friend, and wondered if she was having the cubs she'd told him of. "But I have a bit of travelling before I can go back." Searching for Adhiraj was more important for now then joining the Ukuucha'Wafalme.

'It's fine,' she said, reassuring him. He wasn't to know after all, and if she felt a slight at his words she would be petty. Most wouldn't even know there had been anything bad in her life, but that was because she held it all inside, generally only bringing it to light when she was on her own.
It seemed she too had the ability to touch on painful subjects, and now she felt guilty. Obviously the dissolving of a pride was an unhappy event; especially if it was your family pride, the one you had been born into.
'Well that's good then, making new ties is always a help.' She couldn't quite speak from experience. Ever since losing her family, losing the one who was to be her mate she'd kept to herself, seeking out company when she felt she was becoming to insular.
'A friend..a mate?' she asked, hoping he wouldn't think she was prying. No doubt a lion such as himself was well set up with females.

Arindam nodded slowly, kicking the bone back and forth idly. "It is." He said, as though he were trying to convince himself of the same thing. Truthfully, Arindam felt... guilty. For what, he wasn't certain. Guilty for surviving? For leaving when his mother bid him to? For abandoning his family, surely, but it wasn't even his sisters he worried for. He had seen them in his travels, knew they lived (well, most of them) and lived well, but above all else, he felt guilt for his brother. The brother he was supposed to protect. And now... now he was merely moving on. Sure, he was still looking for Adhiraj, but not actively. And he had full intentions of returning to the Ukuucha'Wafalme pride in the future, maybe even soon.
Did that make him a bad brother, for wanting to move on when, in all likelihood, the young Prince was dead?
Her next question startled him out of his guilt trip. He blinked, and grinned a little stupidly, shaking his head quickly. "No! No... Just a friend. She's a part of another lion's harem. He's a lucky one, that Faiz." He said, sitting down. "The pride is... odd. It is encouraged for males to have more then one female."

'Really?' she said, mimicking him and sitting down herself, her tail snaking around her front paws and then moving away again, the tip twitching.
'I've heard of such things to be sure, never been in a pride or group in which is encouraged before though.' she fell silent, musing over how she would feel to be just one in a harem; sharing a males affection with a group of females. Maybe there was something to be said for the idea though, if they all got on it was a support group and a close circle of friends.
Obviously there was a chance of jealousy, and petty squabblings, but any female entering a harem would have to know from the start that she wouldn't command the males attention all of the time.
'A harem is something you would like for yourself I take it?' Cirrhila asked with an expression of amusement on her face.

Arindam nodded to her question, but didn't answer verbally. He watched her sit, and nodded again at her comment. "It is quite a switch." He agreed, frowning a little. "But if Mzuka is to be believed, it's... nice. It must work, the pride's been there for many generations." He tilted his head slightly. "I just figured I hadn't heard of it because I've never been that far South before. My travelling tends to stay North-bound." He explained with a small shrug, frowning a little. It was a unique idea, and one that Arindam wasn't a thousand percent sure of. Things could happen that would put him in a difficult position; he knew how women could get. Clingy and needy, jealous, petty...
There must've been some way to make it work though, since the pride hadn't given up the idea yet.
Her next question shook him out of his thoughts, and he blinked, then grinned sheepishly. "I don't know. It's not something I'm opposed to, but it's very... new." He snorted. "My father took many mates but that wasn't our way. He broke a lot of our pride's rules." His jaw clenched a little at the mention of Kaubala, but he shook his head, ears flattening against his mane. "I imagine it'd be quite an exercise in diplomacy." He grinned a little wider.

'If you play on joining the pride, it is something you will have to learn to do, to keep several females happy, in a way that maintains peace between them.' Cirrhila gave him a grin.
'I think you'd be able to cope, I rather think it's a nice ego stroke to know that you have so many that wish to please you.' she giggled, teasing him gently. He was a big boy, she was sure he could handle it.
'For my own part, I think it would be something I could accept, provided I got on with the other females. Though it would be nice to have a special place in my males heart..whenever I find one.'

"I'm sure it'll be a fun learning experience, if nothing else." He grinned a little in return to her grin, shrugging a shoulder. "Although, I remember watching males I knew from my youth trying to control just one and failing that. It speaks to a lion's amount of control if he can control more then that." He added idly, smiling a little.
"I certainly hope so." He smirked a little at the comment about his ego, shrugging. "It would be quite a nice stroke to the ego, providing I don't make an idiot of myself." Which was, honestly, likely to happen. It was just Arindam's way, putting his foot in his mouth before he'd said too much.
He tilted his head, and smiled a little. "There's a rank there." He said idly, tail flicking to and fro. "I think Mzu called it a beybanu, or something like that. The male's favorite. Sort of a leader of the harem when the male's away, I guess. Don't quote me on it though, I'm still a bit fuzzy on it." He laughed a little sheepishly, looking down at the ground. Then he looked up. "But it means she's cherished above all else." He said finally, watching her quietly. Whether he was asking her along or not was still hard to decipher; Arindam was, but he wasn't so willing to be... blunt about it. He felt that wouldn't get him much of anywhere.

'You'd be able to cope.' she repeated, reaching out a paw and tapping it gently on top of one of his much larger ones. Was she flirting slightly? Maybe - of everyone she'd met so far since arriving in this area he was the one that she seemed to have clicked with the most. There was an easyness of talking to him which she liked.
She laughed a little at that; 'We all do silly things occasionally, isn't that part of the fun of life?' she said, she couldn't deny that there might be moments when he would mistakes, everyone did. But to infer it might be a tease too far when they were still getting to know one another.
Cirrhila fell quiet, her thoughts varied as he spoke about the pride, and the rank within their harems.
'Beybanu?' she rolled the unfamiliar word around her tongue, giving him a careful, searching look before nodding. 'Cherished above all sounds pleasing to me. For my part, I would be a loyal companion, a true friend to my mate.'

((OOC: I'm SO sorry for the delay, Sayuri. D: I've been sick as heck, and haven't been checking my RPs like I should've. ;o; ))
"Your confidence in me is nice, but you hardly know me." He pointed out, smiling a little as she covered his paw with her own. "But I thank you nonetheless. Once, I wouldn't have needed someone else's reassurance." He grumbled a little, ears flattening. Oh, how far he'd fallen. His ears perked again after a minute, and he grinned a little at her laugh. It was a pleasant sound.
"That's what I've been told." He grinned, shrugging easily. Then he nodded at her comment about beybanu, smirking a little. "It's a rank of great honor in the harem, so I've come to understand." He said idly, ears perking. "The most important to the Pad, leader of the harem..." He rolled onto his back, looking up at the sky and then at her, peering at her upside down given his new position.
"I... know we don't know each other all that well." He began hesitantly, tail twitching anxiously. "But we get along, don't we? I mean, if we didn't, it'd be rather obvious." He laughed a little, nervously. "But... Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is..." He sighed, exasperated, and rolled onto his belly, sitting upright. "Cirhilla, would you want to travel with me and join the pride as my Beybanu?" He finally sputtered out, exasperated with himself. Just how hard was that to spit out, anyway? Was it really that difficult? Jeez!

(( No worries, I hope you're feeling better now ))
'This is true..' Cirrhila admitted, giving a lop-sided smile. Thought she wanted to get to know him better, although right then it was something she didn't voice. 'Now you do. And that's okay. It's okay to rely on others in life, it's not a weakness.'
She giggled quietly as he rolled over, giving her a grand view up his nose. He looked cute though, the inner voice added but she shushed it and nodded at his words.
'Great honour? I think I could manage that for the right male,' she said, not a little archly, wondering if anything of what she was saying was sinking in. It seemed as if something had for at his next words she coloured, before allowing a warm, agreeable look appear on her face.
'We get along yes.' She nodded, choosing her words with care. 'There seems to be a pleasing rapport between us, especially so soon after meeting. It has made me want to know you properly, to see if there could be much more between us.' she reached her paw out again, resting it on top of his and letting it stay there.
'I will gladly travel with you, and when we join the pride, that is what you may introduce me as.'

((I am, a bit. <33))
"Really?"
The blurted word would probably all but erase the calm and orderly way he'd asked. He hadn't expected a yes, at least not that soon. His whole face seemed to light up, and he leaned down, licking her paw lightly. This was wonderful! He smiled a little, resting his head on their paws and watching her. "I do have a bit of travelling I want to do before we return to the Ukuucha'Wafalme." He said after a minute, ears flattening. "Just a little, not that far from here. I want to, ah, enjoy my rogue freedom for a little while longer. If that would change your decision, I understand."
Travelling for who knew how long with Arindam could prove trying, even he knew that. He was often silent and morose on his travels; rarely did he smile in the face of others. But he'd been alone, then, and perhaps the newfound company with his beybanu would change things. The word just brought a bigger grin to his face. His beybanu. She was certainly his favorite now, and he found himself doubting he would find anyone to ever replace her. Another female would be good to bring along to the pride, but his first and foremost concern was, he realized, making sure Cirhilla arrived safely.
"It'll only be a few weeks." He said finally, sitting up a little. "I'm just looking for something. For now, though, we could... Rest here, if you want." He offered with a sheepish grin.

'Really.' Cirrhila wasn't one to mess about with the feelings of another, and she was lonely, far lonelier than she gave the appearance of being. He was pleasant, a capable hunter and she thought that her chance of happiness was as good with him now as if it would be if they knew each other for months.
She smiled at the affection bestowed on her paw and nodded at his words. 'In what way should it change it? I don't look delicate, or unused to travelling do I?' she asked, teasingly.
'We can go whenever you wish, my days have been spent resting alot lately as it is, I have the energy to travel now if it should please you.'

He smiled a little stupidly, and shook his head, ears flattening sheepishly. "No, it's not that, I just..." He just what? He was already growing fond and protective of Cirrhila, and he really shouldn't have. Not so soon. What if something happened to change things, or she decided not to come with him in the future? The thought was practically perished as quickly as it had come; Cirrhila liked him, for whatever reason that imght be, and he liked her as well.
"Alright." He nodded a little, and rose slowly, stretching out. "Then let's be off, hm?" He smiled a little. "We can find a place to rest for the night later." For now, he needed to travel. He peered around them in search of familiar brown fur, but seeing nothing but vast savannah and emptiness, he returned his gaze to Cirrhila and smiled fondly. His Beybanu, and he'd found her so quickly. It was Fate, or something of the like.

'You just?' Cirrhila asked, giving Arindam a searching look. Was he having second thoughts, what was the ending of that sentence?
Though he wasn't. She got to her own paws, wondering what there was in his past, his background that she would find out the longer she knew him. She supposed that was part of it all, learning, and developing a relationship but it had been a while since she'd had to do that. There was no sense, or at least she wasn't getting anything that led her to believe there was anything unsavoury in his past. Just memories - which as she knew could be painful, and not easy to share or even look back on.
'Lead on.' she said, after taking time to stretch her limbs, feeling the pull of her muscles as she did so. She had energy enough to travel until he wished to stop.
