Valeriu thought, for a moment - let the moment drag out, as he sat haughtily on the top of the couch.

Did he deign to go to her?

Hmm.

Her pleading look was very convincing. He could understand her plight - with those short little arms, it must be hard to reach most things. Still---

He stretched, crouched some more, looked away (of course, he didn't care, he was Lord of the Couch), scratched at an ear; finally, dignified, he moved down to the couch cushions to lay strewn across her lap, purring for her in reward.

What a good Tepin. Even Mr. Slinky's glares couldn't deter his contentment right now as he cuddled against her, curling peacefully. His head was tilted, just so -

Scratch my chin. Scratch it.

He pushed at her side lightly, ever patiently, with an expectant look in his visible eye.

It was oddly comforting, watching him like this. Her small body pressed against the couch cushions as she dug a comfortable spot for herself, as her fingers fluttered to give small and thoughtless scritchies to the man. Some on the head, some on the back, before she finally realized what she had promised in the first place.

She hefted him, scooting her weight underneath his torso to get more comfortable, before finally offering her fingers to his chin. He felt rough, now, after a full day without shaving. By tomorrow, he’d be peering obsessively into the bathroom mirror, fighting an unwinnable war against the stubble.

Boys were so weird. They cared about the strangest things.

“You work tomorrow?” There was no avoiding his special time with the razor-- but… With the catnip; were there side effects? She’d feel awfully guilty if he was hung-over tomorrow just because of her Murphy’s thoughtlessness.

“Oh-- And I got the pipes we needed. They’re behind the kitchen table. Murphy helped.”

She’d spare him the details until she was confident that he could remember them for more then three seconds.

Oh, he was deliriously happy. He more than willingly allowed the touch to his chin - something not many could claim when it came to the instinctive way he defended his weaker areas.

He laid, sprawled, and let himself relax; shrugging off the tenseness caused by pain and worldly troubles until he was melted into the couch, eyes closed.

"Mmhm," he hummed an affirmative, one lazy hand coming up to contently rub a palm against her face, plucking at her hair and curling it around callused fingers. "Full day, maybe."

Used to be full day: usually, but with his eye the way it was, he didn't know how particular his boss would get.

"Tonight, I v'ill-" he yawned, and grunted when he realized he was, indeed, falling asleep. He tried to pry his eye open, succeeded for all of three seconds, before he decided it wasn't worth the effort. "V'ill install them. Shouldn't take too long."

Murphy. She'd met up with him - that was good.

"How's he doing?"

Valeriu knew, by all rights, he should know; but Murphy was the less talkative of the twins when it came to feelings, and usually rebuffed Valeriu's concern with a punch to the shoulder and an easy grin.

“Whenever--” She informed him, “I can go to the twins’ if I get desperate.”

Although the idea of trying to shower in that place horrified her: she never knew when something (Human or otherwise) might pop out of nowhere and accost her.

Her unoccupied hand busied itself with his ears, occasionally wiggling or tweaking them for her own amusement. It was particularly entertaining to watch his expressions change as she played with his delicate spots (Though she would never admit this to him.)

“Just chill for now, I don’t want you anywhere near anything that requires… Moving. Or thinking.” Or anything, for that matter; else they’d have a bigger mess than what they had started with.

“Murphy… I dunno, Vale. He keeps moving stuff around, says he’s making room; but the place is a mess. He jumped at the chance to get out--”

Exactly like some kind of confused animal.

“But once he was out, he was a beast. Worse than normal. He-- He--!!” The memories of their day together had begun to flood her mind in a wave of hatred, “He looked down my shirt, for one. And then, then he has the nerve to go tell everyone in the store about my bra!”

It was infuriating! Even just remembering it made her angry!

Valeriu didn't particularly want to do anything that required moving or thinking, either. This was nice, really nice. Even as his hand curiously traced her jaw, she was all too busy playing with his ears. He didn't mind.

"Mmkay," he muttered, stretching his legs out on the couch more and tilting his head for maximum scratchies. "Sounds good to me."

Sounded really good. Though a twinge of unease crossed his face, which only got worse the more she described Murphy's actions.

Murphy was a man of habit. And as anyone could tell you, the more he was upset, the more he stuck to his habits.

Unfortunately, his habits included womanizing. He scowled at that thought, curling closer and wrapping his arms around her waist protectively. Murphy tended to cross the line all too often.

"I'll talk to him later," he reassured her, blinking an eye open. "It sounds like he is stressed. He knows not to tease you too much."

About what? Valeriu could only imagine. It was hard to figure out what was going down in that head sometimes. He could only guess.

"That must have been embarrassing," he mused. "Especially v'hen it v'as the pink one--" He paused. "If. I meant if."

She was left a bit baffled-- how would he even know which color her bras were in the first..--

Laundry. Okay. He was safe. He hadn’t been peeking into her drawers, at least.

But wait-- That didn’t mean that he would know which one she was wearing that day. Shenanigans were to be called.

“It was the pink one-- the one with the lace.” At least there was payback to be had, “Here, lemme show you, just so you know.

Cruel; too cruel. Tepin couldn’t help but recall their time in the jungle, and the reaction that he had to her simple bathing suit. To actually see things that were not to be exposed-- He would die, right?

She hoped he would die. That way, she wouldn’t actually have to show him.

The moment her hands went to her shirt, he'd blushed, and reflexively his hands went to cover his eyes - which looked like a pretty ridiculous maneuver on an older teenager.

"It v'as an accident! I didn't mean to!"

He couldn't help that he was tall, and innocent hugs sometimes showed him more than he'd been meaning to see. He pouted in his defense, peeking through his fingers warily.

"Plus--" he blushed further, but frowned at her, chastising. "If you show me, I might not be able to control myself."

It was all her fault. All of it. Valeriu was innocent - how dare she flash innocent men into temptation!

Her look of concern melted into one of affection. He only seemed to get better and better, and she only seemed to love him more and more.

“You don’t have to hold back.”

It seemed so simple. He didn’t have to restrain himself around her. As if to prove that, she leaned down, curving her back into a c-shape in order to plant a small kiss onto his lips. His lips were rough, and chapped, and he smelt like burnt hair-- But… It was so warm.

If this was temptation, it was something she would easily drag him into.

Damn it, but he loved kissing. Her lips touched against his, and he didn't let them leave; following them back up like a fish caught on a line, hands sliding up to cup her cheeks and curl the tips of his fingers around her ears.

He purred, pecking her on the lips, the chin, the jaw, the nose - anywhere he could reach. He just had to be careful with his sharper teeth when he was nibbling, lest he get too rough.

He tried to stay anchored to her face; anything lower than her jaw, and he was on the road to hell. Speaking of--

"I have to," he asserted, even as his fangs found her earlobe with great joy. He snorted out a breath that still smelled of cocoa beans, frowning at himself. "Until the honeymoon."

Women had to save themselves for marriage - that was a fact. No matter the temptation, he wouldn't be taking that away from her anytime soon.

She melted against his touch, all too content to go strait to hell if this was what she got. It was euphoric, and amazing, and the truth was that these actions were because he cared. Because he loved her. Even if he hadn’t said the words yet, she knew.

Her small hands held him as close as she could, though it was a silly effort; she knew that he was not going anywhere. Wrapped around him, she couldn’t help but trace the small scars on the back of his neck, and rub through his shirt against the larger scars that coated his back.

“And when--” His face so close, the stubble that she had been scratching tickled against her cheek, even as he worked at her ears, “--Will that be?”

Because… If he wanted to wait until she was legal to be wed… He’d have a good decade or so to wait. And quite frankly, by that time she was legally eighteen, at the rate she was growing, she’d have to be around forty or so, physically.

“Soon.” She answered her own question, lips pursed in contemplation. “It should be soon.”

That was - that was a very good question. He rested his chin on her shoulder, thoughtfully chewing on her hair.

He'd thought, well, he hadn't thought too deeply on the subject; he'd always supposed he'd be well and married long after the Game had ended. But with the way things dragged out, and the way more Players kept popping up, this might last for years.

He hesitated to realize that he was seriously contemplating the thought. Marriage. Not just dating - with the warm hands rubbing his back and his nose nudging into black and blonde hair, but rings upon fingers and all that followed.

All that followed. Like...like a family. He froze at the thought, but couldn't deny that it attracted him like no other.

He blushed, and rubbed his jaw against her cheek, slinging arms around her and flopping back down to the couch - dragging her with them until he had her in his arms and a noseful of hair, so that she couldn't see the suddenly shy look upon his face.

"Marriage is not something to be rushed. First you need rings - and then you need more rings, and a ceremony. And a party afterv'ard, and then a vacation."

A good vacation. Like - like out, out of the City. On a sky or boat cruise, or to another City made especially for vacations. He knew one had to exist; where else did all the Uppers folk go?

"Lots of planning."

He wasn't seriously considering this, was he? Marriage? For reals?
PostPosted: Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:12 pm

She let a small sigh escape out her nose before sinking down, head resting on his chest as her hair spilled out in waves radiating from her head.

It was that complicated? She had no idea. When her mother had married, they went away for a week, and came back with rings and smiles and lots of gifts (Many of which were champagne bottles.)

“I don’t need any of that fancy stuff--” Her finger traced small circles on his chest, the shirt wrinkling and pulling in protest, “I just wanna be married. It doesn’t need to be so… difficult.”

She didn’t need a diamond, or a church, or a fancy dress-- And she certainly didn’t need anything like champagne bottles. To just be… To be married. To be promised to one another for all eternity. That was enough. That was-- No. That was far more than enough. That was all that she could ever want and then some.

“For a vacation, we can go to the jungle… It doesn’t have to be complicated or anything.”

Two rings and an oath. That was all that she needed.

Oh god, he was blushing more. The topic made him strangely nervous. The idea made him strangely nervous. He could imagine himself married, but...getting married?

"N-No need to rush--" He did not stutter. He didn't.

He shifted, chewed on her hair, and his hands snuck up to rub at her back. It was ridiculously easy - all he had to do was spread his palms wide and he'd cover the entire width in one go.

"Plus, knowing the Carnegies," he trailed off, implicatively.

They were an adopted part of the Carnegie family. And marriage was a Big Thing to the Carnegies - parties and weddings even more so. The entire family would want some part in it, or they would be sad. He couldn't imagine getting married behind their backs, eloping.

"Besides, v'omen only get one big moment," he added. "It has to be the best it can be."

Yes. Only one. Divorce didn't exist in Valeriu's mind -- if someone divorced, it meant they didn't get married for serious in the first place.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:40 pm

“If you tell them--” Her back arched against his hand, trying to get the most of his touch with a satisfied grunt, “--Then they’d probably just do everything for us anyway.”

There was no planning necessary, with the Carnegie family involved.

“I mean, we’d have to make sure that they did it right. And we’d have to make out own guest list.”

They would have to wait. At the very earliest, until Seamus was out of the hospital. There was no way they were going to have a wedding without him involved. And furthermore… They’d have to invite their families. That… That would be a depressing thing. Sending out invitations to her mother while Valeriu had no parents to invite.

“You are serious, right? I’m not just rambling…?”

She pulled her head up, trying to spot where her boyfriend was under all of her hair. It was proving to be quite difficult.

She did not want to be rambling.

He frowned at her. Childishly, yes, but it was a frowny face.

"Of course I'm serious!"

Marriage was serious business.

He flushed, and looked at the ceiling petulantly.

"But - but you haven't even let me propose yet," he stressed, obstinately. "Now there's not going to be any surprise, because now you're expecting it."

Grumpy, he pouted at her further.

"You're not supposed to bring up marriage before me." Before he had a chance to think on it, buy a ring, plan a proposal - she'd jumped the gun. Swept his manly rug right out from under his feet.

Guy and girl were supposed to date; then guy was supposed to propose; and then girl was supposed to plan wedding.

This was totally out of order.
