Raina watched the happenings with a straight face, just wait till that paralysis wears off, then see what happens she thought to herself.

Ayirwen had begun to block out the annoying chattering of her opponent and so she only heard bits and pieces... something about each attack being payback for one of her own... whatever all she had to do was wait a few more minutes and that bird would be a popsicle.

As the Dewgong didn’t seem to move yet, Alessa stayed in her corner, with an unusual confident smile.

As an ultimate taunt, the bird hopped on Ayirwen’s head. The large mammal seemed even huger with the contrast of the small black bird. “Well, you know, after all, I won’t attack you yet. It’s so tempting. But I may get so overenthusiastic, that I could ‘accidentally’ peck your eye off. My miserable trainer will stock me indefinitely in a ball if I do.” While she was threatening the paralyzed Pokémon, Beth hopped some more on top of her opponent’s skull, avoiding the horn. She was having too much fun with this.
She eventually spread her wings and took off slowly, shedding a ridiculous amount of soft white feathers from her wings. “Let’s have an approach on the longer term, shall we? Now, I can properly attack you.”

Raina grinned, the other trainer looked so confident over there in her corner... well... just watch and see. She could tell the paralysis was wearing off and as the bird took off and let her featherdance attack rain down on Ayirwen Raina merely nodded, it was a great thing to have a bond with your pokemon that was so strong that it was almost like you could read eachother's thoughts.

Ayirwen felt the tingling sensation die out and it just so happened that the opponent had turned her back at just the wrong time, seeing the nod from Raina out of the corner of her eye Ayirwen unleashed a powerful Aurora Beam attack straight at her retreating foe. "Cocky bird... never turn your back" she called.

Alright, the other Pokémon moved again. Alessa could step back into her designed role. “You did a very good job, Beth! Now would be a good time to use Payback again!” she said happily. It felt so good to have the upper hand in a battle; she could understand easily why so many people chose to be trainers.
However, she gasped when she saw the cold beam being fired in direction of her Murkrow… but what a relief to see her getting away unscathed.

Indeed, the feathers that hindered the aquatic Pokémon didn’t do much to blind the flying type. Several froze upon impact with the beam, others slowed it down, combined with Beth’s reflexes made her able to dodge the attack again.
“How pathetic. What have you just been told about aiming skills? You’re actually not really worth my time, are you?” Immediately after saying that, she dived in direction of Ayirwen with the intention to peck her.

Raina gritted her teeth and clenched her hands in frustration as Ayirwen took the hit head on. Why couldn't Ayirwen land an attack tonight? As the murkrow landed another critical blow she felt like punching something, what was wrong with this picture? Ayirwen should have had the upper hand this time.

"Ayirwen, try using Aurora Beam again!" she called out and watched as the rainbow beam of light came out of the dewgong's horn and headed straight towards that darned murkrow.

The photographer took a glimpse at the other trainer. She felt bad for taking her anger as a good omen, but hey, you can’t always win every single time. Lengthening the fight seemed to work in her favour. “Use Thunder Wave again!” she shouted with a child-like smile.

This aurora beam hit its target in the air. Beth came out of the cone of arctic light shivering, but still flying. She did a looping to correct her trajectory and dived on the Dewgong, electricity crackling from her body…

Ayirwen dodged to the side as the murkrow came diving towards her and managed to completely avoid her foe. At Raina's command the dewgong was pivoting around and she launched an ice beam at the bird while it was still recovering from it's dive.

"Yes, that's it! Just keep it up a little bit longer!" Raina called as she watched the battle with growing anticipation.

Alessa could see how much that last attack hurt, and all of a sudden, her confidence vanished, replaced by visible worry. Cringing, sweat drops appearing on her foreheads despite the lack of heat, she uttered the following words: “Try again, Beth! I know you can do it! I believe in you!” She was painfully aware this was their last chance to win the battle.

The beam completely engulfed the black bird. When it stopped, several feathers were frozen, and a large part of her hat-like crest covered by ice crystals in a spectacular way. Every inch of her body was shaking. Despite this, she was somehow still flying, and more importantly, berserk. Blind with rage, she covered once again her body with sparks, most of which melted the ice almost instantly, and as she executed another looping, she emitted even larger bursts of electricity.

"Dodge to the left and use blizzard!" Raina called as the murkrow dived towards Ayirwen again. Ayirwen had already been planning to dodge the bird but at Raina's command she moved to the left instead of the right and unleashed a powerful storm of snowflakes on the field.

Ayirwen stayed on guard just in case the bird somehow managed to make it through the storm but she was fairly sure that she had just won her battle.

The blizzard hit a large part of the field, including the Murkrow. When the violent snowfall began diminishing, one could see the bird on the frozen ground hiding partially under her white wings the best she could, very still if it weren’t for her uncontrollable shivering. Not having enough strength to even mutter how angry this situation made her, she fainted.

Alessa lowered her head in defeat. She called the dark type back inside her Pokéball for a well-deserved rest. She felt so disappointed… the previous battle, while making her the loser as well, was her first battle with her own Pokémon. Also, because Beth kept ignoring her trainer in favour of her own strategy, the woman didn’t feel as responsible for the defeat. She should have expected that outcome this time, anyway; the crow was still inexperienced, and so was her trainer.
However, she forced a smile, and waved her hand. “Congratulations for winning. You’re doing a very good job with that Dewgong… I hope we’ll see each other again soon.” she said very sincerely.

As the blizzard cleared and Raina could once again see the field clearly she saw that the opponent was fainted on the icy ground. "Good job Ayirwen, return." she called as she pressed the button on her greatball and returned her dewgong to her safe resting place.

After Ayirwen was taken care of Raina looked up, and waved at the other trainer. "You put up a good fight, I'm sure you'll do better once you have more experience, Ayirwen has been in quite a few battles that helped make her as strong as she is. I look forward to our rematch." she called before turning and heading out of the freezing stadium.
