Bhel gave the older Fa'e a confused look for a moment, then slipped down off of the sofa to walk over to stand beside him, so he could see the pages of the book. Hesitantly, he reached out to curl his fingers around the edge of the open covers, tilting it enough so that he could see the surface of the page ... even if he was standing so that the book was upside down to him. Maybe there were pictures, or some of the few words he recognized...?
Tzao told him what was in the book, and Bhel's brow furrowed again. "Wait, so, I can find out someone else who wants to make storms, too? To ... help me?" The thought that someone else might have the same job as him did not encourage the bull Fa'e. Could someone else do his job before he had the chance, and make him disappear?
"What does it say?" he inquired pointing to the page and looking up at Tzao. Then, after a moment. "... Am I in there, too?"

"Perhaps not to make storms as you do, but that's not to say that they couldn't achieve their own goals if they try to help you," the redhead clarified with a small smile. "There are some Fa'e out there who would embrace any opportunity to test themselves and experience more of what's around them, you should know. Through such endeavors do we all come closer to our ideals."
"This page is about the Fa'e named Dustin. And this next one is about Keir, see?" Tzao underlined the names of both pages with his index finger. "You are not in here, Bhel, but that is not something to be disappointed about. There are likely things in here that the Fa'e they are about would not like people to know - things that should be protected and kept safe."

Once again, Bhel nodded in spite of not really understanding what his elder told him ... but frowned and looked up at mention of Dustin. He recognized that name, at least.
"Why is Dustin in the book and not me?" the boy blurted, but then listened as Tzao went on to add that people had secrets written there. For a moment, he flicked his tail from side to side, punctuating his momentary silence as he considered this information with the jingling of his tail bangles.
Then a thought coupled with a feeling of dread coursed through him like an injection of ice water. "Can you disappear if you're not in the book? How do you get to be in there?" His fingers started to curl where his hands rested on the page, and shake slightly as his eyes went wide.

Disappear? The Taotie took a hard look at Bhel, trying to determine if the child were teasing or not. There was nothing about the way he shook, though, that made Tzao think he were lying. But disappeared... Great Heaven above, where had the little bull gotten that idea?
"You will not disappear, Bhel," the boy spoke, softly and assuredly. "I am sorry if you were concerned - no, you are safe. I may not understand the implications of these papers yet, but I do not think they possess any power, especially such as that. See, the Fa'e in here all came to the same place and met the same person, and what they did then is what is recorded in this pages. I should think you lucky not to be written in here, truth to tell, in case something may have happened then that you did not want others to know."

The boy's eyes lowered, brows drawing together as he nodded slowly, trying to decide if he trusted what Tzao told him. He had not been in this book all along and he was fine, so ... well, he was probably safe. The thought of secrets still intrigued and somewhat worried him, too, though - did he have any secrets that would be bad if they got into the book? The boy almost wished he could read so that he could see what other secrets were in there; maybe they would give him some idea what secrets he might have.
... All those secrets right there, looking at him, and Bhel could not read them ....
"Who do you meet to get into the book? How do I stay away from 'em?" Bhel asked, not taking his gaze from the pages. Maybe if he knew, he could avoid that person or that place. When he thought about it, he had done stuff he did not want others to know about. Or, well, his guardian knew that Bhel was the one who had broken that cup that one time, but it was not something the young Fa'e necessarily wanted immortalized in a book.
