The instructions were hard to understand, but then again, he never had a dance lesson. Who was he to know that not all teachers taught this way or there was any different method. Instead, he turned and looked out, watching the bush sway in the wind. Back and forth and in one spot. Khuluma started to watch, and his head started to sway. Hm. He didn’t get how moving like a plant could make you dance, but if Abayomi could move gracefully and moving was what you did when you were happy, he at least wanted to give it a try.

Still, how was he suppose to dance like a bush when he wasn’t a bush? Looking over, he saw Abayomi swaying back and forth, and he looked back at the bush. While she gave him her instructions, he instead pretended to be watching the bush and the sand, but kept her in the corner of his vision to watch what she did. Watching her made more sense.

He swayed and then opening his wings, tried to spin in place. This turned more to a half turn before he stopped, but all the swaying from watching the bush had made him dizzy. Holding his ground, he shook his head. “I guess. I’ll just keep trying and see what comes out. I would rather dance like you though. ” Smiling, he looked back out to the swaying bushes and shrubs, but a flash of lightening and a crash of thunder made him step back.

I’d rather learn from nicer weather. I don’t like thunder.” He had actually met the God of Thunder, and he hadn’t liked him that much either. The god had come into God Haven and had just made a bunch of scary noises. They were loud and made him shiver.

Stepping back, he bumped into Abayomi, and he looked up at her. “You’re warm.

"In time." She reassured, smiling at his attempts and spinning once more before settling. He made it look harder than what it was, and perhaps it was because he tried too hard; she made him try to hard. Khuluma would learn to dance on his own, her thoughts provoked, yes, he'd learn on his own.

Settling down to her hind quarters and looking out to the weather, the lioness quirked a brow and tilted her head, "Thunder is scary, but at least you know its there; lightning is almost soundless at times! Striking without warning, its a lot scarier than thunder I think." her rambles were out of no other reason than to speak, possibly to comfort if nothing else. It crashed; those drums of nature and the stumble the cub took startled her more than the noises outside. She flinched, but did not rise from her position, letting the cub rub against where he bumped. "As are you."

"The sun warms me up a lot of the time, and it's nice knowing I can always feel its rays as long as the day is clear and I walk right out into it; but bad weather allows company to snuggle up and get cozy, a different kind of warmth. That's how it has always been for me, my family used to do that all the time." she reminisced, dropping to her stomach. "It was nice that way. Bah, but I'm rambling again. You can sit closer to me if you are cold, I may frolic in such a weather but I do feel the sting and do not mind." The hairs on her head shook as she grinned and nodded, rolling her ears forward like sonar’s.

She was flustered; the touch of his fur sending a foreign tingle up her spine but to say this was anything more than just a sit down with a stranger was out of bounds. She felt connected with young Khuluma, regardless of his age and had he been any older she would not have made of it anything more than this. He was kind and he gave her a common ground that no one else could truly match. He was new and yet cut from the same mold, and that alone was comfort for the outcast Abayomi. (who, like Khuluma, was often perceived as otherworldly regardless of her immortal status.) But there was no lust felt for the godling. Perhaps she felt more motherly than anything else, as if she had to protect him now just because he was young and right in front of her.

Had anyone else heard what she had said, any of it really...there would more than likely be whispers of question but for her, and hopefully for Khuluma the lines of miscommunication were clear of traffic and their minds were in sync with one another’s. Friendship; this was just friendship building…

She seemed to tell herself…

Her ramblings were not rambling to Khuluma. He fed off of conversation, and what Abayomi said made sense. Thunder was scary because it was loud, but lightning had its own danger. Then again, he was afraid of both, but at least he knew thunder was loud and wouldn’t hard him, while lightening could.

Listening, he felt himself both on the outside and on the inside, and while it was raining outside, the wind creating merciless winds, it was quite, comfortable, and warm inside. Was this how it was like to have a home? For someone to be there, waiting for you, and there readily available to talk. The sense of something permanent to claim as his own was only an imagined idea, but he liked fantasizing about it.

Deciding to take the offer, he tentatively moved to her side and laid down, closing his wings and tucking them behind his back. How much was too close? Could he move closer or was that stepping too far? He was a stranger after all, and he didn’t know how far someone was willing allow him to get close. How was he supposed to know?

Against her side, he smiled and setting his head upon his paws, watched the rain and wind play outside while he remained in this nicely-made shelter, warm and safe. Abayomi was nice. She talked clearly and answered his questions. She didn’t seem to get angry at what he said like other gods, or be bothered by his presence. The goddess talked about many things, liked to be just as pretty as he was, could make lots of things out of just simple flowers, and could dance. He felt there was a lot he could learn from her, but therein lied the problem. Moving forward, moving ahead, that progress to keep going to find more and more people which they both loved to do, meant they would be moving away from each other. He only hoped that in the future, their paths continued to cross over and over again. Meeting new faces was nice, but seeing familiar ones was also something to look forward to.

He nodded to what Abayomi said, and turned to look at her. “You’re not rambling at all. You’re clear in what you say and you make sense. You go ‘this is what I think’ and then you say ‘this is why’ when you talk, but not like that of course. I like that.” His eyes went back outside. “I like it when you talk.” Coming from Khuluma, he knew a thing or two about how to speak well.

Smiling, he enjoyed being warm and dry when the world outside was violent outside. “Abayomi? Do you think we’ll meet again? I’d like to see you again. I like meeting new people, but I wouldn’t mind seeing you again. ” He wasn’t bashful with the claim, as he often had a lot of confidence, but he didn’t know if he would be bothering her by visiting her again. It would at least give him a place to practice his teleportation when he wanted to return to this den.

For Khuluma, Abayomi was a close friend and the way she spoke made him think of her as a friend or a older sister, much like how Palahala made him think of him as a older brother. It was nice to have places and people to turn to, and when he had no family and was this young, it’s what he wanted the most. Friends he could adopt as family.

She exhaled softly as he smiled and sucked in as much air as she could when his body pressed coyly against her own. It was so cute of him to be nervous, and so awkward of her to be such an emotion as well, but her regards to the matter had ended with her last self-conversation and she decidedly flattened her own head against folded paws promptly.

Twisting her head sideways slightly, the lioness felt flattery rise again within her, “Thank you Khuluma. No one’s ever made me feel quite as important as you do. I actually feel smart, to be honest!” Not that she ever considered herself a dunce… “And, I know we’ll meet again. I think fate will keep our futures intertwined, you’ll find me and tell me of all the places you’ve visited and when I find you, we’ll chuckle over the silly creatures we met along the way.” Where sadness should lie, knowing their futures were to be shared separate until they did meet again, a sort of excitement lurked; if only in Abayomi. She figured this way, even if they were miles and miles apart the planets would align, or some shooting star would lead her to Khuluma, a stranger turned friend she seemed to already adore.

“How about that?” She whispered, a burst of tiredness settling over her. It must’ve been the energy she gave off today, trying desperately to keep the chin up on this golden boy. She recalled how heavily she slept the last time, and frantically tried to stir her awareness, to no avail, settling closer to the cub and falling limp on her side. “Khuluma, stay for a bit…It’s still…raining.” She needed his warmth now, just for now.

It was so sudden that sleep surfaced she didn’t even have the chance to say good night, or good ‘morrow, since he surely wouldn’t be lyng around come morning. That was alright though; without saying goodbye, it wasn’t really a goodbye at all. She’d see him again, tell of great and wonderful stories, and until then would wait in an eager standstill.

She believed in fate. Their friendship was strong now, toward the end of this glorious afternoon, and it would keep them together. It would.

It was a nice prospect to be able to have a hopeful thought in your head. It wasn’t a plan for the future, but a plan to meet again without really having a plan when and where. It would happen, and that unexplained guarantee was enough for him to believe in. While the world he had seen was big and full of many things, he knew that there would be a time where he would see Abayomi again. They were wandering travelers looking for new places. They were bound to bump into one another! At this point, he was sure he would be keeping his eyes open for the figure of a white and purple goddess dancing every time it rained and wonder if it was Abayomi. She was going to be a member of his adoptive family. “I’d like that, Abayomi.” he smiled, and listened to the rain.

Abayomi seemed to be getting sleepy, and her eyelids were dropping already. It was new to see someone older than him go to sleep first before him. Before her eyes closed, she asked Khuluma to stay, and he nodded. “I will. ” It was nice to be wanted, and having a place to keep out of the rain. In a short while, Abayomi was asleep, and Khuluma lifted a paw to nudge the goddess, but found she was asleep. Smiling, he decided to take advantage of the moment and moved in closer, pressing against her and nuzzling her side. She smelled like flowers, rain, and sunshine.

Yawning, he rested his head against her and smiled. “Goodnight Abayomi.” In a few moments, Khuluma fell asleep and woke the next day to find the rain had passed but Abayomi was still resting. He was sure that her friend would be coming, and while Khuluma tried to rouse her, she remained sleeping. Not having the heart to try any harder, he went over and picked out a pink necklace to match the one he wore and slipped it over Abayomi’s paw. He hoped it would serve as a way to tell her that he was there, and that that he would see her again.

Smiling, he nuzzled Abayomi much like he learned from Koya, the goddess of the past, when she said goodbye to him. “Goodbye, Abayome. I’ll see you again. Rest well.” With that, he headed out of the den to the open sun and the open path, sure that at some point, it would once again lead him to the goddess once more.
