Update:
Posted Knight, Lord tech names.
I'd appreciate input, as well as ideas for other techs to include. I'm trying to keep to a strict three per level, whether passive or active abilities, and the one weapon skill advancement token (as a reminder of what skill level your character is at with their weapon).
I have nothing so far on:
Theif, Ninja, Ranger, Swordsman (mercenary)
I have a partial on:
Archer, Fighter

sweatdrop I have something against the Knight Heirarchy. Emperor/Empress for the West? I can understand why you didn't put King/Queen or something... But, that's the title of the East's Imperial Family. Can we tweak that a tad? I did some research on European Hierarchy and here's a table: Maybe we can tweak the Lord's Western ranks accordingly? And if you want one for Asia, AS a type of Heirarchy and not Samurai, here: prince or duke (公爵 kōshaku) marquis (侯爵 kōshaku) count (伯爵 hakushaku) viscount (子爵 shishaku) baron (男爵 danshaku)

Posted up the names of the Fighter techs.
I'm trying to keep the names close to what I mean for the meaning of them. I'm trying to get a mix of natural and 'supernatural' passive abilities and active abilities.
What have I got so far...
Knight: - Strength based abilities. - Endurance based abilities. - Berzerker-type abilities.
Lord: - Speed based abilities. - Agility based abilities. - Powerful stationary stances.
Paladin: - Elemental and Physical combination attacks. - Defense enhancement abilities.
Fighter: - Speed based abilities. - Passive defensive and offensive abilities.
All classes:
- Improvement of skill in class-specific weapon types. - Superhuman increase in one stat. - 'Finisher' move at 4th-5th level.

EDIT: This has been taken care of, mind you this is not the class that will be used. If you want to modify this class for something go ahead.Ok, I've discovered a problem: The Merchant Republic and the knight type class. Lets look at the facts. The knight or lord is essentially a land/status holding noble. Thanks to the culture and history, land holding nobles are prone to want to defend their land while the king/emperor takes care of bidness. This works well in that type of system. The problem with the republic is that land isn't held by nobles, it's held by the rich and infuencial. An even further complication is the rich and influential are busy running a council, no time for combat training. In this type of government what makes a lord a lord is non-existent. The good thing is those rich people are prone to hire guards, retainers and possibly amass private armies. Now, these wouldn't just be mercenaries. When getting retainers you want people you can trust and who are loyal to you and you alone. Plus, just as the knight and lord are more focused in their training than the common swordsman, so would the retainer. So without further delay, what I have so far! Retainer In lands where money and power have more sway than tradition and honour, retainers are common sights. From the simple mansion gaurd to the general of a private army, these fellows are paid handsomely to protect their employer's holdings. Unlike mercenaries, Retainers make a career out of serving their employers. Doing good in one battle means the possibility of promotion. The profession tends to attract people who think on the long term and shun the unstable short term gain of mercenary work. From this the Retainers have developed a different sort of honour than the knights and lords of other countries. Rather than sticking to a moral code or family honour, the Retainer derives their honour from doing the best job they can. Dependability and patience are prized more than courage. Much like the other knights, Retainers hold loyalty amongst the most important virtues. To them, the loyal, hardworking and dependable soul has a bright future. Rather than focusing on how to best use a weapon, the retainer learns how to best use armor and shielding to hold a position. Group tactics, marches and stances are all drilled as key aspects of defence. Polearms, maces and axes are more common with retainers than swords. Shields used by retainers are of the highest quality, whether they be buckler or tower sheild. Strengths: Highly resilient against physical (both melee and ranged) attacks. Excellent with group tactics. Fiercely loyal and determined. Have wealthy employers backing them. Weaknesses: Very physically taxing just to wear the armor, let alone move quickly in it. Problems fending off magic. Have a bad reputation as the enforcers of the rich. Retainer Skills Guard Defence Knowledge Shield Push Recover Blunt Strike Retainer Defence Training Teamwork Grounded Stance Weapon Lock Phalanx Defence Proficiency Tower March Riposte August Crush Cataphract Mounted Defence Trample Iron Will Pinpoint Thrust Templar* Defence Mastery Breakthrough Unyeilding Resolve Bloodbound *The other possible title is "General" if you think Templar has too much God attached to it. Mind you, General doesn't have to pop and reeks of fire emblem.

Ok, I know this is semantics but I'm wondering what we're gonna do about it.
With the lord, will the final names still be tied to social status? This is mostly in intrest of skills, since you can improve your fighting without improving your social status. Plus theirs there is the fact that only one person could reach the emperor rank. Plus, do actual princes get high ranking skills just because they are born into royalty? And are all non royal characters capped at lord rank?

As a note to Joseph:
You have Forgotten abilities on your list of things to do. For the Knight, I'd imagine we'd simply place it under the Paladin class... though this is just a comment. I dunno what types of awesome you've got up your sleeve this time.

*Noted the Forgotten Knight awesomeness-up-Dan's-sleeve abilities.*
Knight abilities posted.
I'll get the Lord ones done tonight.
If I still have time the Fighter ones after that.
As always, responces are welcome.
Agenda Item: I'm going to change the Lord rank names from royalty to other things... As with the knight names, the first three are simply levels of training, while the fifth is a term of utmost respect, "Lady Fontaine", in example. The 'Defender' level I'm going to leave at that name, but if anyone finds a better one, I'll take it. As for the Lord ranks... yeah. Those are going to get swapped to levels of training, and capped with a high-status name.

Suggestions for Lord/Lady
Gentlewoman/man Nobleman/Woman Esquire Baronet/Baroness- Pretty much the lowest level of noblity other then knight which is also a class. It can also be referred to as Lady-in-waiting/Lord Reserve Lord/Lady? Stuck on the last one.
For Defender...how about Valient? or however it's spelled.
*shrug* Just tossing out ideas. XP
