"Not really, no," she said, "I used to sing as a cub, but only until I realised I scared off prey..."
She grinned and winked at him, only half serious. While she had never been a songbird, it wasn't bad enough to clear the Savannah. She just didn't do it anymore for some reason, but she still enjoyed listening. One of the other Dhati warriors had a really nice baritone and it was a treat when he sang songs about the spirits in the evening. However, it had been a while since he last performed. It seemed that when the sparring and exercises among the warriors grew more intense, small pleasures like that became forgotten.
"I could sing instead of roar in battle," she joked, "And strike terror in the hearts of my enemies."
She had to stop talking to suppress a yawn. The heat from the sun had started to make her drowsy, and as she relaxed there was nothing keeping her from feeling how weary she really was. In the end she had to give in, and yawned so big one could almost see her breakfast.
"I think I might need a little nap," she said, blinking slowly and leaning more heavily against his side. "Just shutting my eyes for a little while." And judging by her slow steady breathing she was soon fast asleep.

"It's okay. They should feel blessed to be able to hear your voice."
Mazimwi just wasn't good at it or ever really hear another lion sing very well. He was always a wanderer and hummed to himself but he didn't know any nice tunes. He definitely would have been a warrior and not a singer.
"Haha. You do that and I will swoon at the very sound." He loved flattering her but he really tried to remind himself that he didn't need to lay it on too thick. When he saw her yawn, the lion nuzzled her slightly. "You need to rest. It's okay. I'll be here when you wake up."
Adjusting his body so that it was more comfortable for Skugga, the lion tried to relax a bit too. Looking at her fondly, Mazimwi looked out into the distance at the other Dhati lions. Everything seemed so calm at the moment but turmoil was soon to rear its ugly head.
