Pan nodded as he listened to Kishi's words. They sounded about right. So, the make closed his eyes and held out his hands. Then remembering he was holding his flute he put it down by his feet before doing what Kishi said again.
As he stood there he thought, "tree" a bunch of times. So many that the word tree in his head no longer sounded like tree but bee or free or me. Still, he kept on until he shouted, "I got it!" but upon opening his eyes he arms looked the same.

Kishi watched with excited curiosity as Pan concentrated hard on trees. She kept her eyes on his hands, but nothing! "You gotta think real hard, Pan. Like this."
And with that, she closed her eyes and did exactly as Pan had done, but her hands turned into little branches. She peaked open one eye at first, just to make sure it worked, and she seen the branches she opened the other. "See! Dats how it s'pos'ta work."
She scratched her head with one of her twig-fingers and thought about it. "Maybe we gotta be in da tree for it to work for da first time?"

Pan nodded as he watched Kishi do it right. He watched and nodded again. He wasn't sure maybe that just wasn't something he could do.
Still, he tried again. He closed his eyes for a moment and thought tree until Kishi spoke again. The male then opened his eyes and looked at her. Another nod came from him.
"Yeah, that's a good idea! Is that how you did it the first time?"

Kishi was convinced Pan just wasn't thinking 'tree' enough, even though he was. Being a child still, she didn't know how powers worked, or that all faun couldn't do the same thing. So being in the tree seemed like a pretty darn good idea to the child.
"Ya, Pan. Let's go in da tree and see if dat helps." she was excited to see Pan be able to do what she could, and even more excited to learn how to make rocks dance. "Maybe there be a flute in there fer me too!"
The little girl reached for Pan's hand to head into the tree with him.

Pan was happily pulled by Kishi to the tree. "Oh, yeah a flute." He found his so who was to say he couldn't find another one laying around? Inside the tree was where the other faun lived so it made sense that maybe one of them would leave one around.
Inside the tree Pan looked up in awe. How much he loved the tree and being inside of it. It was more then just home...it was everything. Pan looked back at Kishi with a smile.

Kishi was of the same mind as Pan; she loved Laisidhiel. The Tree was the magical source for everything to the girl.
"Okie Pan. Uhm... we go to the middle where Chief usually is. He talks to da tree there so da tree maybe help us?" She smiled back at the little boy.

Pan nodded. "Yeah, that's right." The Chief he did talk to the tree so maybe if they did what he did it would work. If Kishi could turn in to a tree it only made sense to a child that their great leader could too and move rocks. Maybe move them without the flute.
Pan walked to the center and closed his eyes again. He put up his arms and began to think tree again. This time you could see it in his face that he was thinking hard. His eyes and mouth was all squeezed shut.

"Big Lissy Tree. Help Pan like you help me. We wanna both be like you!" She said a quiet little prayer to the tree while Pan started concentrating.
Peeking one eye open, Kishi watched intently, hoping so hard for Pan to turn into a tree too. "You doin' I think, Pan! I think its workin'!"
She didn't see any changes, but her childlike innocence and imagination were helping to convince her it'd work.
She looked around on the floor, and spotted a stray twig. While Pan's eyes were closed, she put the twig in one of his hands. Maybe that would help!

Pan was still thinking hard. "Tree, tree, tree bee, lee, mee, see, fee, free, Free to Mee Tree!" Pan said all of that out loud as he then opened his eyes. He thought for sure something had happened as he felt something in his hand. As he opened his eyes he saw the twig.
The boy smiled. "Ah, I did it!" He hadn't noticed that it wasn't a finger or part of him at all he was just too excited to have done it or so he thought.

Kishi squealed with delight and clapped her hands as she bounced, so excited for Pan. "Yay!! You be a tree now too!! Lissy Tree helped, thank you Lissy Tree!"
"Tomorrow we try 'gain and maybe 2 fingers change!" She remembered her own progress took a while, so it was natural Pan's would as well. "Now we look for flute?" She never lost sight of learning how to make rocks dance. Tree fingers + dancing rocks = utopia! to the faun girl.

Pan nodded. That made perfect sense to him. His flute always took some time and practice to get the right tune for the rocks to do what he wanted. It was only logical that so would turning into a tree. "okay!" He kept hold of the branch as wasn't sure how to 'turn' back, as he picked up his flute.
"It was in this box with this rock thing with it." The rock thing was the rune that left a print on his hand. He didn't know what a rune was so to him it was just another rock. "Look for a box." Pan began looking around the floor as he had found his on the ground.

"A box thing." Kishi whispered to herself as she started glancing around. She wondered where her box thing could possibly be hidden. "Did you find it in your nook or just in the tree somewheres?" she wondered if perhaps they should check her nook.
"What da box thing look like, Pan?" she was moving leaves and looking behind things in the center of the tree as she asked. "Is it big?" ((The way I picture Laisidhiel is on the inside its like this. You can see the doors to the rooms, or 'nooks' that each Faun live in. And in the center (at the bottom) of the tree is that sapling and the Faun's water source, as well as Rais's Dais.
Another view
Wanna have a little fun with them? Some make-believe adventuring for the two? ))

((Okay, cool! Sure, if you want to! biggrin What did you have in mind?))
Pan put his hand on his chin as he thought about it. "Well, the box was gray and cold...made of that stuff that isn't trees or rocks." He was thinking metal or steel, but didn't know the names. "I found it out there." He pointed to the mainland of the other island "One day exploring it."
Pan shrugged. That didn't mean her's couldn't be somewhere in there. If it was just laying on the ground then there must have been many more of them to find.

Kishi's expression was serious for just a moment. He found his box not in the Tree. That was not something she expected. "Ok, then we look out there." She didn't want to fully admit she was scared to venture too far from her home. But her curiosity did make her want to explore sometimes. Each day she'd go a little further and further out, getting braver each day.
But today, she had her new friend Pan with her. And he seemed to know a lot about the mainland, so she trusted he'd not let them get lost.
"Okay Pan. We check mainland for cold box." She smiled and nodded, and took a few steps towards the ramp leading up. "I need ta get my stuff from my nook first tho." She held out her hand, wanting him to go with her to her nook.
(( my idea is perhaps they find something random while looking for the box, and decide its a treasure and they wanna either return it to the owner or are hiding from make-believe bad guys? What do you think? ))

((Okay, that sounds good! hee hee))
Pan smiled and nodded. "Sure, we can do that." He had been the mainland a few times now. Each time looking to the trees and plants that were there. He even got berries with the others once. Pan had kept the seeds and planted them again later.
Pan took her hand before picking up his flute. He then began to walk with her. He didn't need anything from his nook so he didn't mind just going to her's. Pan had his flute and that's all that was needed. But more then that he had someone to go with him. It was a nice feeling.
