Apparently, his words hit her harder than he thought. Miki wasn't expecting her to suddenly mellow out like that just because of him telling her that she wasn't where she thought she was. The look on her face hurt him. He hadn't known her very long, and already he missed her bubbly personality. He could only imagine how hard it must be. He had always thought that the Priestess chose to come to them, seeing them in peril, but he somehow got the idea that she hadn't chosen to come here. If that was the case, then he was really going to have to find a way to send her home. Being forced into something without knowing... that was just cruel.
He put his hand on her shoulder. Partially to steady her, as he was certain with too much more of this, she was going to get weak, and partially because he worried she might bolt. While it was safe for her here, elsewhere might not be. "Genbu is the patron god of the north, for Hokkan. Here in Konan, our god is Suzaku. The Universe of the Four Gods..." he sighed, trying to remember the exact wording for it, "The Universe of the Four Gods was a scroll given to the First Emperor of Konan by the Emperor of the Heavens. It said that if the land was in peril, a girl from another world would come. She would become the Priestess of Suzaku and would gather those marked by Suzaku. Once they were gathered, she would be able to summon Suzaku and would be able to save us."

Riku made sure to stay close to the others, butfar enough away to not spook the horse. He heard what they were tlaking about, but didn't say anything about it. He was interested in meeting this Priestess. He'd been very lonely for most of his live, more then likely an Empress would be chosen for him. He wantedthe chance to protect a woman, just as Riku, just because he wanted too. The priestess would give him a chance to feel like a man, not just the next Emperor.

Gods. Emperors. Myths. Hibari remembered the words of the book: "The story itself is an incantation...This is because once they turn the first page, the story will become real and begin."
It's true then, she thought. I'm in the book. I'm . . . one of the six maidens. And from what Miki said . . . Suzaku's. Suzaku. Which one was that? She knew Genbu was north now, and from what the picture in the book had shown her, it was a turtle-snake thing. Then she remembered the bird song. The only bird in that picture had been the phoenix. That would mean that she was working for a phoenix god who governed the south.
Girl from another world. Hibari gaped at Miki.
"Wait, so . . . you think . . . I'm the Priestess?" her voice pitched as she asked. It would have sounded like disbelief, but it was actually the beginnings of excitement.

Xiao crossed the border of Mount Reikaku. She slowed down to a trot as she knew she may be stopped for toll if the bandits where out and about but even though she need to get her sense of direction. She was not sure which way she need to go from here but she did know that this was the city she needed to be in and continued forward till she found what she was looking for.

"If the legends are true, then yes." Miki knew it was hard to believe. If he wasn't born with a mark, he probably would have passed the stories as just fanciful dreams than actual truth, but his birthright tended to make that impossible. He wasn't sure how he thought about the entire thing. This girl didn't seem like much, to be honest. She acted very childish, and was downright weird at times. He didn't know how well this was going to go over. Not to mention, it seemed like she just got roped into things without knowing what was going on.
"The question is... do you want to be the Priestess of Suzaku?" While others might not give her a choice, he certainly was going to. She deserved to choose what happened. "It's not going to be easy. You're going to have to find all of the other warriors, and some may not want to join. You'll have to convince them to come along. And then you'll have to summon Suzaku once you have them all." He honestly hoped she would say yes.

Inside, Hibari was squealing in delight.
It was better than backpacking across Japan or Europe. Hundreds of thousands of people have probably already done that. She couldn't think of anyone who'd gone backpacking across a fantastical land in a fantastical world that existed on the other side of a book portal in search of fantastical people who would aid her in summoning a god. It was a shoujo fantasy adventure manga dream come true. Did she want to be the Priestess of Suzaku? That was the understatement rhetorical question of the century. In the time it took to blink Hibari was as bubbly as ever, if not more so.
"Are you kidding!? Of course I wanna be the Priestess!!" she exclaimed. "I don't care how hard it is! Hari-chan loves adventure~! And Hari-chan never gives up!"
But that got her thinking. How was it that Miki was asking the question? She could understand if he'd thought the tale he told was just that: a tale. Yet the way he spoke . . . She laced her hands behind her back and leaned over, looking up to try and see Miki's expression.
"Hey, Mustachio . . . You said 'other' Warriors. Does that mean you're one of'em?"

Tamahome nodded, and started toward the loud noises, sure that Riku and Mika would keep up the best they could. When he broke through the thicket, and his eyes came to rest on a man, that was obviously related to Mika, and a girl in strange clothes. Before the Bandit Prince could kill him on the spot, he put his hands up. "Mika is on her way, I'm Tamahome. If you like, I can show you my mark."
He knew he probably shouldn't have taken off without Mika, but hopefully if they'd been doing that weird twin telepathic mind link thing then he'd know that Sun Li wasn't an enemy.

As Tamahome ran ahead, Mika did stop to let her brother know about what was going on. She wasn't expecting him to burst ahead of them, which was the only reason she gave her brother notice. Had she not, knowing him he would likely pull his sword on the man. The last thing they needed was to be short one warrior when they first started out. She turned, giving Riku a small smile. "She's just up ahead. Through the thicket. Come on!" With that, she started running as well, though she tilted her angle just a little. Because of that, she came out just to the side of her brother, standing next to him. She didn't introduce herself, as she was knew Miki was going to give the speil, as he always did when he had to explain their marks to someone. Mika did, however, give Tamahome a small wave, before looking over at the Priestess. The girl didn't look much younger than them. Was she really as silly as Miki said she was? Mika supposed she would just have to wait and see.

As attention-deficit as ever, the rustling of undergrowth made Hibari's head turn. She'd thought it was a deer, or maybe a bunny, or a raccoon. So when a man burst forth, she gave a squeal of shock and instinctively scurried behind the first big thing closest to her: Miki. Clutching tightly to his arm, she slowly poked her head from around him to study the newcomer.
"Are you the Swamp Monster?" she asked, her large, childish green eyes inquisitive. "Oh, wait . . . but . . . you came from the forest . . ." She mulled over some of the fantastical creatures she knew, cocking her head to one side and looking up at her bangs as she poked her index finger to her temple to think. An expression akin to a Eureka moment lit up her face and she pointed to the man in green. "Oh, I know! You're a Treeman!"
The words had barely left her lips when the brush rustled behind her and a woman looking remarkably like Miki popped out. Again, as she had with the green man, Hibari squeaked and scuttled over to Miki's other side before taking a second look at the woman.
"Ninja Lady!" she declared, pointing at the female Miki-almost-look-alike.

The Bandit King was quite glad that the Priestess had indeed said yes. He wasn't expecting such enthusiasm about it. Was the girl that used to going around and having adventures? Given he didn't know the world that the girl came from, he could only assume so. "I'm glad. Don't worry, you'll have a lot of people to protect you." He was about ready to start walking again when she asked if he was indeed one of the warriors. "Yes, I am. I'm..." he paused, as that was when Tamahome burst through the thicket, making himself known.
He had gotten blurb from Mika about the man coming, so while he turned, he didn't attack. He wasn't, however, quite expecting Hari to hide behind him. And hearing Hari come up with another nickname for this person caused him to stifle a chuckle. He didn't know exactly what a treeman was, but he could guess by the name. He was more glad that he wasn't the only one getting odd nicknames. "It's alright, Hari. This is Tamahome. He is one of the people you have to find to summon Suzaku."
He turned, to look at the girl hiding behind him, as his sister did the same. "I'm half of one of the stars. The other half is my sister, Mika," he said, gesturing to Mika standing next to him, who smiled at her. "Together, we make up the star Tasuki." He turned his right wrist over, as Mika hiked up her robe so her left ankle was visable, both of their marks shining brightly. "All of the people you need to find will be marked like this."

Tamahome had been called many things in his life, but never a 'treeman' whatever that was. He sighed a bit, was this weird girl really the stuff of legends? He moved his shirt and pants another to show her the bright mark on his hip, before covering it up. "My real name is Sun Li, if you prefer to call me that, but Tamahome is fine." His eyes drifted to Mika, and he smiled a bit at the wave, then moved his attention back to Miki. "I brought some scrolls my obaa-san collected through her travels. Perhaps it will help us with... her." He pointed to the weird girl that was supposed to be their priestess.

Ohhh . . . shiny. Hibari's large eyes clearly indicated that she was interested in the brightly glowing symbols that were on Miki, Mika, and Sun's bodies. Miki had said that was how she'd know they were the Warriors she was supposed to look for. But right now, it seemed more like they were looking for her. Awww . . . this isn't fun! I wanna see everything in this world! Nonetheless, she was happy. She now had company on her journey. And what's more, one of them was a woman. The pink-haired girl would have been delighted to have a gang of guys as her entourage, but it would have felt weird.
Though, her short reverie was broken by Sun. Hibari pouted.
"Ehhhh~!? What's that supposed to mean?" she demanded. "You make it sound like Hari-chan's a weird thing! I'm not a weird thing! Okay, well . . . I may be weird . . . but Hari-chan's not a thing! Hari-chan is Hari-chan!"

Looking over at Tamahome, Miki shook his head slightly. He had forgotten to introduce the others to the Priestesss. "Tamahome, Mika, this is Arikawa Hibari, or Hari as she likes to be called. She is the Priestess of Suzaku." He didn't much like the way that the other man seemed to think she was odd. Granted, she was, but she was still a rather nice girl despite that. He supposed that Sun Li would just have to learn that. He shrugged, putting his hand on Hari's shoulder. "It's alright, Hari. We're just going to wait for one more person, and then we'll head up to the camp. After we get some supplies, and things are taken care of, we'll head out to find the others." He could tell she was getting a little anxious, for which he didn't blame her. She seemed to like adventure.

Once Riku got into the glade, he slipped off the horse and looked around. "Sorry, you guys ran off so fastI gt lost." He looked up at the girl an smiled, walking right up to her and taking her hand to kiss it gently. "Hello, you must be the Priestess, I'm Riku. I'm not a warrior like these guys, but I still carry a mark." He folded his collar down so she could see the mark fo Suzaku. He trned to te new man and bowed, "I am Riku, it is very nice to meet you."

Tamahome wasn't sure why Miki seemed mad at him, but then again he was so often alone that he didn't really realize he was being a bit rude. When Riku came into the glade, he laughed a little, he was never going to make it without everyone knowing he was some sort of nobility. "Hari, you can call me Tamahome, it's probably better. Try not to get too over anxious though, the tales from the first Suzaku priestess are lined with betrayal, injury and death. Adventure is exciting, but you are very important to this land, please try and take this a bit seriously." He was only worried about her safety, even if his posture was stand offish, his face and eyes held genuine concern.
