"Virgin Daiquiri would be nice, sug." Ruby rolled her shoulders up into a shrug. "He's more likely to tell me things than he is most, but he's secretive by nature. Took him years to finally see his eyes after all."
"So your reality shifts, hmm? Sounds complicated. An' I don't think you should worry yourself too much about the mother-in-law. They're usually more afraid of you than you are of ....wait, that wasn't the advice I was meanin' to give...damn I ain't any good at this."

Butterfly laughed and waved a virgin daiquiri onto the cushions next to her. "Who knows? Maybe that is the best advice. I've never met a mother-in-law for the first time, so I wouldn't know." She continued laughing silently and leaned forward. "I... do have a question, though it would be rude to ask it and expect an answer. I know I'll never know. But... are his eyes... pink, by chance?" Behind the mask, her eyes twinkled with good humor, curious to see her reaction.

Ruby happily scooped up the daquiri and took to the straw. Her dimple popped into place as she smiled at the mention of Arch's eyes. She gave a slight shake of her head, "Not supposed to actually say much on it, but they're much prettier than that." Her smile softened a bit. "An' though I've gotten to see his pretty eyes, he ain't ever told me why it is he hides them. There are some secrets I think Arch will always keep, even from me. That's just the kind of man he is."

"Pft," she remarked, leaning back again. "Figures. Likely as not has no reason, I bet, or it's something silly like someone he hated liked them. Boys." She opened her mouth a little and laughed silently. "Ah, well."
She pulled the cherry out of her lemonade and squeezed it, to put more juice in the drink. "So. How's life treating you, as a whole?" She wagged a finger at Ruby with a grin. "Like I said, my reality shifts... and you tend to stay out of the spotlight these days. Sad, 'cause you were always one of my favorite..." she paused and amended, "...people to watch."

Ruby chuckled. "Knowin' my angel, you're probly right. But I swore to myself I'd be content just seein' the eyes, an' wouldn't push for anythin' more."
Ruby blinked a few times, returning to her daiquiri before answering. "I'm doin' good, which is why yo don't see me around quite as much I suppose. Mostly been busy with the weddin' an' other things, Arch gave me my wings for a weddin' gift."

Butterfly smiled, thinking If she can hold to a promise like THAT, she's really, truly devoted to him. Goes against her own nature not to find out. Aloud, she replied only, "That was a nice thing for him to do. Did you have to learn how to use them, or did it just... come naturally? I can't imagine that's an easy thing to learn, really."

Ruby let out a laugh. "I'm still more awkward than a long legged duck when it comes to my wings. When I get too excited they might shoot out an knock someone over, an' sometimes Arch's gotta use his wings to keep mine under control. I've gotten a bit better with the controllin' bit, but they still act as an emotional flag an' droop whenever I'm down, or poof up when I'm angry."

Butterfly laughed with her. "Aww! That's a whole lot worse than your face changing color. Oh, well. And how's your boy? Is he doing well, too?"

Ruby gave a quick nod, "It's right awful, an unfortunately quite evident."
Her lips pulled into the smile at the thought of Aaron. "My sweetlin' is doin' well. He's growin' up to be quite the handsome little fella, an' he's already charmin' the women far too much for his own good. But I'd haveta blame his daddy for that."

Butterfly smiled and ducked her face. "...So I've heard. Teaching his son to wrap women 'round his finger, is he? Should duck in sometime and watch that. It's always fun to... Ahh, well, nevermind that."
She sipped more of her cherry lemonade and leaned back further. "I'm surprised at you, Ruby," she said after a moment. "I would have thought you'd ask a million questions by now. Yourself, not just answering mine."

Butterfly blinked, realizing that time had altered and was starting to flow like syrup again, and pulled out a pencil and drawing pad while she waited for Ruby's response.
Checking between her blank paper and the description of an evil male drow, she frowned. Making the face sharp wasn't so much of a problem, and the ears wouldn't be too bad... and scars were easy enough, as long as the expression was set first... but what was this about a vicious smile? What would a vicious smile actually look like? That was a plot device, not something she'd ever actually seen... and it's not like she could ask Ruby to model it, because the most Ruby ever was was... well...
Hm. On the other hand, Ruby probably could be very vicious if she was feeling vindictive, perhaps towards another woman she particularly hated. It still wouldn't help much, though, as a man's lips look quite different from a woman's. And this guy was supposed to have a lip piercing!? What!?
Butterfly drew back with a look of dismay. No wonder she'd put this one off for so long!

Shaking her head, Butterfly put aside the drow sketch and started working on Ora. She smiled to herself, thinking, This could probably be better, especially if I could use color, but at least she won't be expecting it! Not like this, anyway.

Butterfly yawned as she finally finished the drawing of Ora. It looked nothing like its subject, and there was a lot that could stand improvement, but she was satisfied with it. She hoped ED would like it, at least.
Yawning again, and eye-ing the still-frozen Ruby, Butterfly laid down and curled up in the cushions. It was probably safe to take a nap, at least for now...

"It looks nice," Ora's dark voice filled the room as she looked over the drawing. "It's something one could look at for a long while, get trapped in even. Appropriate, all things considered." Ora stepped away from the drawing, turned around a few times to admire the area, then sat down as a large rock was summoned. She always liked the feel of cold hard stone.
Her red eyes casually glanced over the frozen form of Ruby and a dark smile spread on her lips. "She gets spacey some times. Probably trying to balance four worlds at once. She may be back, she may not. It's always difficult to tell."

Butterfly slowly stirred and blinked. Then blinked again. "Oh, shikes. What did I--? Oh. Thank you," she said to Ora, nodding. "Sorry for drifting off 'fore you came in. It takes me a sec to catch up with... things that have happened while I've been asleep." She sat up and tilted her head, looking back down at her drawing of the woman. "I'm glad you like it... I think, " she continued speculatively, "that it's one of those I ought to set aside to redo someday in the future, though so far I've yet to go back to any in that pile. It is nice, and I like it myself, but most of my focus is on the flaws."
She set the drawing aside, and a few papers that had floated up and started sketching themselves while she slept faded and stacked themselves on top of it. Mostly objects, strange weapons, but also faint lines of an Egyptian eye, a carved tree, and a strange, troll-like woman. Glancing at the still-frozen Ruby, Butterfly shook her head. "She'll be back... eventually. How are you, Ora? I hope I have yet to bore you. Or, at least, completely bore you."
The cushions she's been lying on, meant to match Ruby's and give a sense of balance to the area, vanished and were replaced by a soft, flat rug, upon which the Butterfly stretched out belly-down and perched her head on one hand, elbows digging into the rug. She was obviously much more comfortable there than on the cushions, even with her head tilting back to look up at Ora on the rock.
