That stopped Mei-Li cold. Tokyo? Japan? Where were these places? Another world? The woman could hear her heart thundering. Could it be, that this girl really was . . . ?
"I've never heard of those places," Mei-Li said, her voice suddenly curt and snappish. "Did you hit your head? Another world? That's a joke."

Takeo found himself in the middle of a large city. The cloth and wood vendor stands were on either side of the street. The homes were something out of a period drama. Takeo swallowed, he couldn't remember how he'd gotten there from the library. He glanced around seeing none of his friends.
He pulled his phone from his pocket and tried to call Hikari... no service. He walked up to the nearest person, a woman with her family, "excuse me, where is this?"
The woman tilted her head, "Hiken's city square, of course," she stated.
"Um... specefically where is that?" Takao embellished.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Ounen empire..." one of her children started to whine, "excuse me.." she bowed. Takao akwardly returned it.
((ooc: feel free to run into Takao later on... I don't want to interrupt the conversation ><)).

Aleyn of Farronbrook That stopped Mei-Li cold. Tokyo? Japan? Where were these places? Another world? The woman could hear her heart thundering. Could it be, that this girl really was . . . ?
"I've never heard of those places," Mei-Li said, her voice suddenly curt and snappish. "Did you hit your head? Another world? That's a joke." Keiko's cheeks started to blush with embarrassment. She had never met anyone who had not heard of Japan, but than again she didn't quite know were she was either.
Keiko laughed nervously "Well It could be possible that I hit my head when I fell from the sky after the light from the book pulled me inside. But to be honest I am not joking when i say i have no clue as to where I am."

A book? Oh, great. With every passing moment Mei-Li was becoming more and more certain that Keiko was the Priestess of Pangu. If that was the case, then that would mean the Last Star of Pangu should also be running amok in Ounen. The Nyosein reached up to scratch her neck, where her mark was burning bright. Gods, it itched something fierce. She'd used her abilities, but it should have gone away a while ago. That meant that she was either reacting to Keiko as the Priestess, or . . . another Pangu Warrior. With a grunt of frustration Mei-Li leaned herself against the wall so that she could hide the glow from her mark, and closed her eyes as she answered Keiko.
"This is Hiken, the capital of Ounen. If that helps you any," she told the girl, a little curtly.
The itching was doing her mood no good. Forcing herself to concentrate, she focused her chi and tried to sense things . . . mainly, chi signatures that would either confirm Keiko's suspected identity, or someone with strong or unusual chi.
To her surprise - and slight horror - she got both. Keiko's chi definitely was different from your everyday run-of-the-mill teenage girl. And there was another chi, not far off, actually, in the city's square. A small grimace brushed Mei-Li's features. Oh man . . . and here I was trying to get AWAY from ridiculous trouble . . .
The woman reached for her sword, then decided against it. It would be open provocation (which she really didn't mind but really didn't want at the moment). So instead she grabbed her satchel and slung it over her shoulder as she strode to the door.
"Keiko, stay here. I'm just going out for a bit." She fixed the girl with a withering glare. "Don't leave this room, and don't let anyone in. I'll be back soon."
With that, she was out, the door thumping shut behind her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mei-Li had to pace herself, trying to look like the casual citizen while headed for the square as quickly as she could. She had her satchel strings held in a way that she could hide the glow of her mark, which was still itching and was still being a nuisance. There had to be some way to figure out who the person was in this massive throng of people . . .
There. A youth with shoulder-length brown hair and strange clothing. She made a beeline for the guy, her mind seething furiously to try and figure a way to make her dragging him off seem legitimate yet not arouse any excitement. When her hand closed over his wrist in a vice-like grip, though, she'd decided to wing it.
"There you are!" she said, loud enough so that the young man could hear over the din. Mei-Li did her best to infuse as much worried exasperation into her voice, while fighting down the urge to throw him over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carry him off. She pulled him closer, and then lowered her voice so only he could hear. "Just come along quietly. I'm not gonna hurt you, and I think I found a friend of yours. Don't cause a fuss, or I'll shut you up myself." In a louder voice, she added, "I thought I told you I'd pick you up at the gates. Why did you wander off? I've been looking everywhere for you!"
With a gentle (at least for her) yank, she pulled the guy's wrist, indicating he should follow her.
"Ah..." Takeo blinked dumbly at the girl coming toward him, she wore clothes that matched the rest of the city and seemed to be angry. "Excuse me... I..." he stuttered, stumbling along as she pulled him forward. ~A friend of mine?~
If looks could kill, Mei-Li would've sent the youth to Hell and back.
"Watch what you say here, boy." Again with the quiet voice, though now it was steely and sharp. "Crowds have ears. If you're what I think you are . . . then let's just say that not everyone wants us around."
She continued to half-drag the young man back to the inn, and eventually got frustrated at his hesitation and turned again to get him to cooperate more.
"Okay, look, if that ridiculously slow male brain of yours is trying to figure out what I mean by 'friend', perhaps the name Keiko will ring a couple bells," she snapped. "Now come on. Quit dragging your feet and move."
"Gods, I thought I told you to shut up!" Mei-Li snarled. At least he was moving willingly now. "We're almost there. Shut your trap and don't give so much as a squeak until we're alone."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mei-Li was about ready to throw a fit when she got to her room. She dropped his hand as if it were a life coal and half-threw him in before quickly closing the door. A smile forced itself on her face as she struggled to appear calm while fighting her anger.
"As you can see, I'm back, Keiko," she said. "And I've brought a friend for you." She used her slippered foot to point to the brown-haired young man.

Keiko nodded as the older woman left the room. She sat in the chair till the door opened again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the door did open and saw that Shiho had returned, Keiko breathed a sigh of relief. She was glad that it was her and not some stranger but a puzzled look crossed her face at the sight of Takeo.
"What the..." Was all she could manage to say at the point.
She stood up at walked over to him and touched his face to make sure he was real and not some hallucination.
"How is this possible?" she questioned aloud but not really to anyone in particular.
It was good to see a friend, she just hoped that the other were ok and here somewhere.
"Gomen Takeo. I just had to make sure I wasn't Imaging you" Keiko apologized
She stood up and sat on the bed behind her. A sharp pain ran up her span as she sat down. Keiko had forgotten all about the slash on her back. She tried not to show the in her face or body language.
" So Takeo, how or I should ask why are you here?" she ask, "Don't get me wrong, I am happy to see you , I am just a little confused that is all." she added.
Keiko was confused and soon realized her mistake.
"Hai, that's what I meant." she responded
The miko felt stupid at her error but it happens to everyone. She turned to the older woman,
"Maybe you can tell us why we're here and where are friends are?" she asked
Mei-Li was content to leave the two to talk, but as Keiko turned to her, she cracked one hazel eye open.
"Why you're here? Good question. I'm actually wondering why I'm here." The woman leaned against the wall again, and looked at the floor as she began in a quiet voice, "This is the story of the Four Gods. They rule from their four palaces in the heavens, and govern over these lands. They are Genbu, the Black Tortoise, patron of the northern Hokkan; Seiryuu, the Azure Dragon, lord of the eastern Kutou; Suzaku, the Vermillion Phoenix, god of the southern Kounan; and Byakko, the White Tiger, ruler of the western Sairou.
"But though they were said to be four, they were not the only ones. For there was a fifth god, Pangu, who ruled in the fifth palace of heaven, in the center of it all. He, the Golden Dragon, is the one who guards Ounen." Mei-Li's eyes shifted up, to watch their expressions. "When the lands are in danger, the god of that country reaches down to bless seven people with his powers, marking them with the stars over which he rules in his heavenly palace. These are the Shichi Seishi. Then, reaches beyond time and space to bring a young maiden from another world to this one. Here, she becomes Miko, and is given the task to seek out the Seishi, and summon the god to restore the lands."
A grunt, and she readjusted herself. "And that's why you're here. You see, this place has been in drought for years. And I don't just mean Ounen. I'm taking all the other countries too. We're in danger. And the gods have pulled you guys into our mess." She pointed, not accusingly, to Keiko. "You're the one Pangu chose. Pangu no Miko. And you," here she turned her finger to Takeo. "You're the Last Star of Pangu. A Pangu Shichi Seishi. Just like me."
Pushing herself off the wall, Mei-Li turned her neck and held back the stray locks of hair to reveal the purple symbol behind her ear, blazing like a beacon. She waited a few seconds to let them drink it in, then turned her head again to face them once more.
"I told you before, Keiko, to call me Shiho, even though my name's Mei-Li. That's my Celestial Name. I was born under the star 'Butterfly'; 'Shiho'. One of Pangu's constellations." A slight smirk. "Now you know why."
Keiko listened intently to Shiho as the woman explained to them why they were here in the strange place. She was a Miko to their god and she assumed her her friends were as well, but they were in a different city than she was. She was glad though to Have Takeo here with her. Her eyes widened at the site of the glowing symbol behind Shiho's ear and wondered if Takeo had a symbol too. For all the years she'd known him, she had never see or noticed anything similar to what Shiho showed her.
She nodded when the woman finished explaining the situation.
Okay. I understand now. So based on what you told us, would that mean that my other three friends are in three different locations.?" She asked
She then looked over to Takeo and smiled "So I have two my the Pangu Warriors, right?" she inquired
