Fine penmanship, someone of nobility, someone trying to say that the world was a bad place, society was overrated...

Leon was former nobility, he knew how to read and write, and his ideals before meeting his Captain, Dan and the others were very similar to those of which were supposedly... 'obviously' being portrayed. Was he going to be a suspect now? The very thought sent a chill down his spine.

Anri could sense something wrong with his rider, though he didn't know quite what it was. Maybe it was the dead human? He noticed Leon be uneasy around those whom were dead...

The Lieutenant all the while wondered if his comrades could see his face, twisted in a sudden fear... if that would make him even more suspicious? But I didn't do it!

But even looking like a suspect would ruin his life, it would be over. At this very moment, he cursed himself for the very knowledge he used to treasure.

He did notice Roy, yes, he noticed him, but couldn't figure out what to say.

Amelia listened in silence as Ghis and Jin spoke about the murderer. The penmanship and word choice clearly was one of a higher class man or woman; Amelia could understand easily enough what it all meant, but she wouldn't have come up with that sort of phrasing. Amelia studied the note again, trying to decide what Jin had apparently realized--and Ghis had interrupted him.

Her attention, however, as Ghis spoke up, moved to the red-haired boy that approached her. "So... I hear we have a dead body on our hands. Mind if I take a look at it, as well as anything the killer might have left behind?"

Amelia turned, eyes widening. "Roy...! Goodness, where have you been for the past month?" She leaned over and hugged the boy, then pulled away and looked at his cloak. Clearly he had been traveling, but to where was as big a mystery as to why people who only distantly knew him as a person thought he was a pyromaniac. "Ah... nevermind, we can ask later. We've got more important things on our hands. As for looking at the body, only the Watch and authorities can get at the body. You're a civilian here. I'm sorry."

Where ever I wander, where ever I roam,

The Dual-Wielding Master Lord, Roy

User Image

Roy felt ignored amongst the Watch members. Was it because they were too focused on the crime to pay attention, or was it because their ears weren't trained well enough to hear a voice asking a question? At least his words had reached Amelia, though he was suddenly hugged by the General girl. Man, had she grown freakishly stronger since he had last saw her or what? If it wasn't for his time spent in the wilderness, he would have definitely been out of breath from the hug, or at least have a crushed rib or two. And it probably wasn't even her tightest hug either...He had returned the hug to the girl before they released from their embrace.

He then sighed and nodded to Amelia's words. She was right: Civilians had no rights in dealing with situations like these. They weren't even allowed to see the body unless they had some relation to the victim.

But still...

"True...I know I'm a Civvie and all, but I might be of some use to you guys...Wouldn't you want help from people you knew to solve this case faster? I could join the Watch...temporarily for now of course. I'm still searching..." the young lord replied, cutting himself off.

That might not have been the smartest move in the tech book.

Outside the garden from Isadora eight feet away was a strange figure. Despite being covered in white clothing, the paladin could see that he was wearing in teared clothes. She looked up to the masked figure with full of guard and alert.

There was no way this stranger was a welcomed guest, especially being in the castle ground undetected. Surely he wasn't a member of the guild nor the Watch service. After all, he was unfamiliar to her. She had never seen him before in her life. But his voice.... It sounded familiar. Where had she heard that voice.

"Yes, I was picking flowers for a someone I knew." The paladin replied. She was unsure what the stranger was talking about. However, she couldn't shake off the strand of fear off her spine. How did the strange know that the person she was giving was a man? Not to mention, how did he know she had been doing this for weeks? Was that man spying on-

Isadora placed her hand on the hilt of the sword as she watched the stranger entered the garden. Although the man's hands were at his sides, Isadora still latched hers onto the hilt. If the man made a suspicious movement, she would unsheathed her sword. But for now, she would let the man know that this was a warning.

She listened to the man commented about her recent habit. Though she didn't shown no expression but a stern look, Isadora had a feeling of wanting to arch her eyebrow. This man was making no sense. What was his problem of her paying respect to a dear friend of hers that passed away? And what did he mean it won't do anything? Surely, he didn't expect that her paying respect would bring Father Renault back. That would be absurd. Isadora knew fully well that the dead couldn't be brought back to life unless it was under the circumstances of the reality such as Ninian being brought back to life. Just what was that stranger talking about?

Isadora's eyes continued following the man's movement. She had not drawn her sword yet. The stranger still hadn't made a suspicious movement. The paladin replied. "Surely paying respect to someone isn't trouble. However, I don't know what you are talking about. Care to tell me who are you and what do you want?"

The paladin didn't get her answer from the man. She had no idea what the man was up to. It wasn't long until she heard him speak. Now, it made the paladin arched her eyebrow. Things are changing in Eyris? A beautiful climax is coming? And he wanted me to see it? Isadora thought.

But what got her more curious was his last statement. The statement about seeing a man. Just who was he referring to? Was it Father Renault he spoke of?.... Or another man from her life like Harken? So many questions and so little answers. Although the paladin was confused, there was one thing she knew. And that was she started to dislike the stranger. This stranger was making no sense at all and it seemed he was becoming a dangerous person to her.

Before Isadora could draw out her sword, she heard him introduced himself. Isadora blinked. Now that was an odd way to introduce after forshadowing what would happen.

Suddenly, Tura appeared before her, surprised her. Isadora took a step back and drew out her sword, leaving a gap between her and strange fellow. Isadora looked at the man sternly. "And what is it?"

Tura replied that he had a gift for her from a man. Before Isadora could ask him the identity of the man, he came before her again in an instant. Isadora was surprised by this. She took a step back, but not before she could feel her lips being pressed. That man kissed her!!! This surprised Isadora again.

Outraged by the man's action, Isadora swung her sword. However, she only managed to slice a part of his cloth before he disappeared. Tura was gone. Isadora stood for a moment with her sword in her hands, waiting for the stranger to make his move. After a minute or two, she decided that the man had left. Isadora placed her sword back in its scabbard and looked at the spot where he disappeared. The piece of cloth was still lying on the ground.

Isadora bended down and picked up the cloth. Surely, maybe the Watch would help her identify this Tura person. Isadora walked out of the garden and went to the stable to retrieve Tuomas. If she needed help, it would be the Watchmen. She didn't want to bother her crew members about this. They had so many things in their hands to deal with. In addition, she would have to make up for the Late Father Renault about her absence today.

Right now, she need to capture this man immediately and question him of what he meant. Not to mention, to give him a payback for that stolen kiss.

Roy was a civilian, that much was true. Normally, under circumstances where they actually had the numbers to deal with a case such as this one, Leon would agree. And if he were to be suspect, why, they'd be even more understaffed.

Not good at all.

His brown eyes darted to Amelia, and then towards Roy. "Now, 'Melia, 'e wants t' help us, dun he? We should be lettin 'im, if 'e can 'andle 'imself ya know. However..." his gaze fell on Roy now. "I do hope ya be understandin' th' risks."

He didn't refer to Roy's name, he didn't know it... and nor did he show his Captain's blunt disrespect by calling him 'boy' as he was called. Disrespect was a good way to chase people off, whether it's on purpose or not.

The Dual-Wielding Master Lord, Roy

Roy's attention drifted over to the Watchman horse rider. What the hell did he just say?...Was what he would have said, if he was his former self. If it wasn't for his time in the wilderness, where people had a far deeper accent, he wouldn't have ever understood the man's words. But man, that was some accent.

But it seemed that there were still some people that didn't know him. That was hard to believe. Wasn't he referred to as a pyromaniac? (So what if he did like fire? So what if he did like to see things, preferably enemies, burn when they met a flaming Sword of Seals (or now a Flame Sword; he picked one up on his travels)? He had every right to enjoy something. And believe him, pyrotechnics was right up there with picking up wimmens in his book.)

"I'm very aware of the risks. Would that be alright with the one in charge of the Watch if I were to join?" he asked Leon, looking at him curiously.

He wasn't sure if Leon was the leader, or if he was just a lackey.

Who was in charge? That was hard to say. Sure, Ghis was a Captain, but Leon had all the records (what little records there were) of this case. But then again, he'd get himself clobbered by that rum-loving Watchman if he didn't watch his own words.

"Cap'n Ghis's in charge..." Leon replied, his eyes all the while shifting uncomfortably for another reason entirely. "And norm'ly, I'd have tonsa records of a case, but... our... 'informants'..." he was referring to the spies that they had in secret, Large being one of them. "They dun got 'ny clues at all."

Isadora galloped down the street with Tuomas. In her hand was the piece of cloth she had sliced from Tura. Remembering that the Watch Tower was outside from Eyris, the paladin rode on.

Suddenly, she noticed a group up ahead. Curious of what was going on, Isadora rode toward them. She recognized Roy, Amelia, Jin, and Leon. The General she didn't recognize, but she had a feeling that he could be one of the Watchmen. Isadora spoke. "Did something happen in Eyris?"

Isadora's mind raced back to the statement Tura spoke of. Is this what that Tura fellow speak of? The changing in Eyris?.... If so, does he have something behind this? Praying that this was not what the man spoke of, Isadora waited for the answer.

Roy nodded. So he had to look for a guy named Ghis to become a part of the Watch. He wondered if the geezer was here. So he decided to ask Leon.

But before he could, he noticed a blue haired woman approaching them. He smiled and gave her a warm greeting. Then he heard her speak.

"There's a dead body." was all he said. The young lord didn't have much to go with, since he wasn't officially part of the Watch. He'd have to ask Ghis to join.

"What?" Isadora spoke surprisingly. "A dead body? What happened?"

Isadora didn't expect death to come so soon, especially after a month from what had happened. Alarm started to grow inside the pit of her stomach. She didn't like it of what had happened. Not even after losing a dear friend of her. Isadora prayed that the dead wasn't one of their fellow members.

"Lady Isadora." Leon recognized her as being one of FEF's crew, a mature, sensible mind that could understand a situation rather easily. "Like th' redhead said..." the knight begun to explain now still realizing he forgot to ask Roy's name... but he had other priorities! "Ya, there be a murder 'ere, one wi' riddles. I dun' like these word games crim'nals like t' play sometimes... they be nasty minds, these 'uns..."

He showed her the note. Although Leon had hidden all too well his former noble status, claiming the griffon crest to be just a 'good luck charm', he still couldn't help but feel uneasy about what was being left behind, and who it could point to.

But as the bards said 'the show must go on.' Or in this case, the search. Why if he could find the killer himself, he'd be a hero, and even if it wasn't him who found them, but... if he even helped catch the criminal quickly enough, there would be zero chances of him being questioned. Right now was the time for Leon to be at the top of his form.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:17 pm

Isadora thanked Leon and looked at the note. What the Lieutenant of the Watch said was true, this was written with a riddle. Isadora looked carefully at the riddle.

"What makes a life worth keeping and living, whatever the strife? Then, why do you kill?" Isadora repeated the riddle. She began to ponder at the riddle.

What makes a life worth keeping and living? There were many answers to that question, depending on the person's point of view. It could be love for others, the will to live, or determination. Depending on the person's reason to live, there was a different answer of wanting to survive. As for why to kill it, it was the same as the first, depending on the person's reason. Whether it was for wrath, the thrill of hurting those, or to gain something. There are so many answers that could fit in these questions. There was no possible way that there was one answer to this.

As she looked carefully at the note, she noticed something odd. Despite how well the killer had wrote, Isadora noticed how the handwriting of the penmanship had changed. From neat and beautiful work of the penmanship to the violent and terrible stroke. And based by what the killer had wrote, it seemed that this killer was deranged. It looked as if that killer was on the verge of suicidal based by what that last sentence had wrote. However, Isadora didn't want to conclude so soon. They didn't know what the killer's motive was.

"Have you noticed the handwriting?" Isadora asked Leon as she handed the note back. "It looks as if this killer goes from civilized to derange. What sort of game is this killer spoke of."

This was getting confused by the hour. First, that strange man she met in the garden and now this. Speaking about the strange fellow....

"Oh, that reminds me." Isadora spoke as she gave the piece of cloth to Leon. "There was a strange fellow I met earlier, but he escaped before I could question him. This piece of cloth was from him when I tried to stop him. Do you know of a man named Tura? Somehow, I doubt that he could be the suspect to this crime."

"Tura, eh? Ain't never 'eard 'is name before, Isadora. Ya think 'e be a suspect?" Leon replied, shaking his head in a grim manner all the while staring at the piece of cloth. Unfortunately, this killer wasn't so careless to leave any incriminating evidence like that behind. Then, the Lieutenant noticed the same details as Isadora did in the letter! From neat and tidy to complete madness. Maybe the killer had multiple personalities? Who knew?

It always seemed like there was at least one of these crimes committed by those whom weren't right upstairs. If they were dealing with someone like that, not even the strongest weapons or the sturdiest armor would be of any help. Leon knew that against a twisted mind, the only thing a person had left was their own reasoning. Fall into the insane one's trap, and that's it, you're at their mercy... no way out.

"In th' least, we be knowin' that we ain't just up 'gainst 'ny ordin'ry person 'ere. Their mind be a twisted 'un, but a twisted genius. From 'ere on out, we gotta be careful, every'un. We be in much more danger if ya dun keep yer heads straight, so wha' ever ya do, dun fall into th' guy's games."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2009 8:41 pm

"I doubt he's suspicious, but he seems to be one." Isadora replied. "He said that things are changing in Eryis. That the climax is coming and I have to see it. And if I see more of it, I may be able to see a man. However, he wasn't being cleared at all."

Isadora then described her account with the strange man to Leon. She described what the man looked like, despite having his identity hidden. She explained what the man had told her too. The only information she had left out was the kiss. She didn't want them to know and it was too embarrassed for her to give out this personal ordeal. Besides being a minor information to the crime, she didn't want the Watch to think that she was fraternizing with the enemy. It wasn't that Tura had a thing for her. However, she couldn't help out but to leave her concern about the mysterious man he spoke of. Who was the man that she was to meet later on?

The paladin nodded her head when she listened to Leon about the work of the criminal's mind. Although the killer sounded deranged based by the note, he did show intelligence in it too. However, she couldn't help but wondered...

Could this Tura person be the same as the killer? If he was, then it seemed that he had started playing mind game with Isadora. Somehow, her dislike for that man was starting to grow more.

"You're right, Leon." Isadora agreed. "We have to be careful when dealing with these types of criminals. However, the problem is we do know how many steps is the killer ahead of us? After all, it seems we are in this killer's game now."

Amelia kept herself in silence as Roy and Leon discussed Roy's involvement in the case and possible suspects. She leaned her elbow against Jin's shoulder, finding it a handy armrest, and looked over at the body. Watch members, men specifically tasked to the transportation and, later, inspection of the dead, were already kneeling over the corpse of the dead woman. One man nearby held a sheet in his hands, another using what looked like a narrow bottle in order to collect blood. For what reason, Amelia had no idea; she wasn't in a station that made her privy to coroner results. And even then, she had no idea of how successful they could even get to the cause of murder, time of death, any of that. Their magic could only do so much.

Amelia didn't look away from the Watchmen as they placed the woman's body on a wooden gurney-looking contraption, only turning up her eyes when she heard Isadora's voice. She had no time to explain, as Roy and Leon were content to speak up before her, so all she did was nod.

"Tura...? I don't know anyone with that name." Amelia brushed her hair off of her face and looked to the cloth. Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at it; it was familiar, somehow. "What exactly happened when you ran into him? If you think he's suspicious, Lady, we can send out a bulletin." Amelia shifted her stance just a little, resting most of her weight on her left leg. Even with the aftermath of their fight with Loki, Amelia still felt a little awkward calling Isadora "Mother." It just... didn't seem right, somehow.
