Shrugging, Jet carefully put the orchid back down. "I suppose I was taught better than that." That was only partially true, to be honest. When he was younger, he used to do such things, and his mother often made flower arrangements with the orchids she picked. He supposed it was the shock that kept him from doing something like that with the delicate flower. It was likely an odd sight for the other students, to see the young man dealing with a simple flower like it was something fragile. To be fair, the thought of sending it up to his mother was still in his mind, which he would have to incinerate the flower to do so. He decided he wasn't going to let Blue in on that little secret.

Shaking his head slightly, there was a very soft chuckle that slipped out of the swimming man, a smirk on his lips, a rare sight. "The world would be a better place if people stopped listening to rumors, though it does have it's advantages." It felt rather strange, but Jet was very relaxed. He usually kept a few mental barriers up, to keep himself from getting too close to people. Yet, he was having a rather good time talking with the shy Blue. "You never have to worry about your plants around me. I'm not quite that vicious. If I were to do as you said, my mother would have had a fit. Particularly if I were to do them to the orchids." Jet had seen the other plants in Blue's garden, though he had been too distracted by the fond memories of orchids to pay them too much attention.

I love orchids they always think well of me

Blue watched the other, he was so careful with the flower. “Really? It sounds like our mothers were very similar then.” He said with a soft expression. He almost stepped back when Jet got out of the water, but his flinch only lasted a moment before he relaxed again. “The world would be a better place if a lot of things were different.” He murmured in reply to Jet, though he cocked his head to the side a bit at the last comment. “Advantages?” He had never seen a real advantage in rumors, there had at one time been one or two about him, both involving either a lack of education or a kind of homeliness that he didn’t like to think of having… He liked to think he was more attractive then a hick and he wasn’t uneducated, his father had been a scholar after all, not everyone from small farm towns were inbred..

He smiled a bit. “I’m glad, I love my orchids a lot, it takes a lot of care to keep them alive, but they get my full attention and seem to benefit from it.” He placed his hands behind his back and locked his fingers together. He looked at the sky a bit. “Your mom sounds nice.. Well, maybe not the fit part, but that she’d care so much about someone else’s garden.” Blue looked back at Jet and smiled. “Hey, you’re healthy a lot, aren’t you?” He asked brightly. He had a couple of good herbs in his garden, he thought Jet could use some good luck, but he didn’t think the other needed any health charms.

Sitting on the side of the pond, the upperclassman nodded. The world would be better if a lot of things were different. If people weren't so greedy, his mother would still be alive. If people weren't so afraid of things they didn't understand, Lucian and Trey would be alive as well. But, those were just marks of humanity, he supposed. "If people didn't believe in rumors, then I would have to deal with the rest of the student body, and they would never leave me alone. I don't mind a few select people, like yourself, but everyone else..." While it was odd for him to be upfront about people he enjoyed being around, he wasn't lying. The positive mage before him was very soothing to be around. Jet liked the young man's company.

After a moment, the upperclassman stood, the sun having dried him off mostly, so he could change into his dry clothes. "They do take a lot of effort to grow. I was surprised to see them here, truthfully." Pulling his shirt on, he nodded. "She was a wonderful woman. She taught me everything I know about plants. Unfortunately, I didn't get her green thumb." Given the fact that he was talking about her in past tense, it was rather clear that his mother was no longer around. He really didn't want to explain what had happened, though if pressed, he would comment on it... slightly. He moved a bit, to behind one of the bushes near the pond, so as to prevent Blue from watching as he changed out of his wet pants into the dry pair. "I haven't been ill in quite a long time, if that's what you mean. My last visit to the infirmary was years ago." His last visits to the doctor were due to self inflicted ailments, all occurring after he received his scars. But for actual illness, it hadn't been for quite a long time.

The brunet nodded a bit. “I think I understand, but it’s always nice to have at least one person to talk to isn’t it? I love my plants, but I don’t have my fathers gift for speaking with them.” He murmured softly. It was very odd, very rare for a human to have a supernatural gift like that, but it was one of the few tidbits Blue didn’t mind sharing. When people pushed he just said his father had a better eye for things then he did. It wasn’t untrue, it just wasn’t why his father could converse with plants. Of course he didn’t carry conversations, mostly just interpreted feelings or emotions but it might as well have been the same to Blue who could only trust what a plants outside looked like for an indicator of how it was feeling.

“I won‘t lie, it took a lot of effort for the bulbs to bud, I must have gone through at least six before one was stubborn enough to grow.” He said honestly before smiling at Jet a bit. “So your mom liked orchids a lot then hm?” He asked looking upwards. “If you think she might like it, I have a lovely white orchid with delicate pink dots, I was able to cross breed it just this past spring, I could give you one of its blossoms to send to her. It would be quite an honor if she could plant it where she is…” Blue’s words might have sounded naïve, like he thought she was still alive, but his tone of voice and facial expression said he knew she was somewhere that good souls went when they died, like how elves just vanished or were said to set sail across the sea and never be seen again. He thought it would be a great honor if one of his hybrid orchids was grown in a place like that…

He blushed a bit. “Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to be pushy..” He apologized quickly. He shook his head a bit. “Mmm, I thought so. Well, I have other things too, not a lot I’ll admit, but I think I have something.” Even though Jet had gone behind a bush, Blue still turned around to give him more privacy. It was impolite to stare or gawk, even if they were both boys. Blue had been raised in a fairly proper house despite how rather lenient his parents were.
