Ginger looked around at the class. Most of them seemed interested enough in the creatures. Ginger wondered if they were going to get to see them. Of course, she saw thestrals at the beginning of every year, and sometimes randomly if she happened to be looking towards the forbidden forest whilst they swooped around. They were her favourites, even more so than hippogriffs, which she adored. She didn't think mmuch of griffins, but perhaps that was because she liked horse-like creatures most of all.
At the proffesor's question, she raised her hand. "The Abraxan are huge Palomino horses, and extremely powerful, mostly bred in France. Arthonons are British, and they are chestnut in colour. Granians are grey." She had never seen Granians before, it hit her. Suddenly somehow she hoped they'd be getting to see all kinds of creatures this year, the professor seemed nice enough.

Sephie was happy to have gained some points for her house. She realized this is the first professor who has given points for correct answers all year. Or so far, at least.

Emylee listened to the Professor and the students answering. She prefered to listen then to speak.

"Correct, Ms. Ginger, 5 points to Slytherin. Now, can anyone tell me something about thestrals?" he asked. He took his wand out of his pocket and pointed it at the stable door and it opened into a dark hallway covered in dirt. He then moved to stand in front of it.

Ryu knew the answer to this but he didn't want to answer. He normally felt embarassed when he said he could see thestrals because people would ask him who he saw die.

Trista raised her hand. "Thestrals, sir, are skeletal winged horses which only can be seen by people who have witnessed death."

Ginger smiled at the five points she received, and pushed her flaming red hair out of her face. At the next question of Professor Alaster, however, she feverishly looked down at her feet.

She knew the answer to this quite completely, and besides that, thestrals were her favourite creatures in the whole wide world. But the whole problem was that people judged her for having them as her favourite animals at all, and she simply had a hard time disguising the passion she felt for them.

Personally, she did not feel any curiousity to ask anybody who saw thestrals who they had seen snuffing it, which was odd for her, seeing as she was normaly curious about everything. But Ginger lived by one particular motto, treat others as you wish to be treated. She wouldn't like anybody to be curious about the people she had seen die, because it was a sick kind of curiousity, somehow.

She was glad, therefor, that Trista answered the question instead. It was difficult to recognize whether Trista liked or disliked them, feared them, thought them an omen of death, or whether she could see them at all. She had stuck purely to the point, which was, as Ginger reminded herself, exactly the point of the question.

Seeing Thestrals always made Persephone feel strange. She didn't dislike them, but ever since she first saw one, she always felt that the Thestral knew what she was thinking. The way it looked at her with its white eyes made her feel like it was looking past her exterior. Normally it would have unnerved her, but despite their appearance, Thestrals always seemed kind to Sephie. And now, for reasons she couldn't really explain, she sincerely hoped a Thestral would walk out of that stable.

"Correct, Trista. Thestrals are often refered to as an omen of death. This is a lie, thestrals are feared because of what Trista kindly told us. And now, for what I can see most of you have been waiting for," Alastar walked into the stable. He returned a few minutes later with five rose of creatures behind him. "We will be able to ride them." He put the Abraxans, Aethonos, and Granians in one place, and put thestrals and hippogriffs in other plases. "Remember, bow to the hippogriff before you go towards it. Those of you wanting to ride thestrals, I have some dead rats here," he indicated a bucket, "That they will be most pleased to eat."

Ryu walked up to the Professor and whispered, "Is Blackie here?"
"No, Ryu, he isn't, think I should show him to the kids?" he replied.
"YES!"
"Very well. I'll call him soon."

Trista watched curiously as the professor introduced the horses. She eyed up the hippogriffs and thought about how she had always been interested in them and had only ever dreamed of being able to fly one.

"Come now, come now. Don't be shy! These are all very well trained horses!" Alastar called around the feild. He patted some of the horses and threw mice at some others. He also helped shorter people onto the horses.

Ryu waited a little. He didn't really want to ride any of them, bbut he wanted to be able to ride Blackie. Blackie was a friend to his grandfather, so you couldn't really call him a pet. HIs grandfather had met the hippogriff long ago, the twon he had lived in called hiim 'un-tame-able'. But his grandfather showed them wrong. But Blackie always lived in that villiage, until his grandfather calls him.

Trista walked slowly up to one of the hippogriffs and looked him in the eye. She glanced around at the other students then; she was often nervous when others watched what she did. She turned back to the large hippogriff and cautiously bowed her head to the beast. He eyed her up for a little while as she watched him c**k his head to the side, and finally bowed himself towards her. Trista stood up straight and creeped over to the side of the hippogriff to where she could easily mount him, still being cautious as to not startle him. As he was bending down, she grabbed a handful of his fur and hoisted herself up onto his back. Once she was on, she made sure she had firm grips with both her hands as she steadied herself. "Whoa. That wasn't so hard, i suppose." She said.
