Jumping Frog, having turned her head to watch a fish getting closer, doesn't see Movement-in-the-Grass' miss. Patiently, she watches the fish getting closer, ignoring her body's signal that fresh air will be needed soon. When she believes the fish to be close enough, Jumping Frog snaps out at it, just managing to grab it's tail. Her victory is short lived, however, as with one strong wriggle, the fish is free. Glaring at it, she rises to the surface, expelling air in a trail of bubbles as she goes. Surfacing, she takes in a deep breath, looking at Movement-in-the-Grass. "Almost had it.." She gasps, her lungs still demanding more air for her blood.

When the doe comes back up, gulping down air, he can't help but smile at her. She must not have seen. Good. Heh. That would have been embarrassing. Not that he wasn't used to embarrassing himself, but he liked to think he was rather smooth, at least in front of the ladies.
"Took me a whole day of fishing to catch my first fish. They're quick, they are. How about another go?" The buck takes one deep breath and goes back underwater. He opens his eyes and waits patiently for a fish to stray too close, this time paying attention to the fish. A few pass by that he could have lunged for, but none that he chanced. He figured he could wait until Jumping Frog caught one, and then sweep one up. This way, he figured she would feel less pressured to rush her catch. So instead, he snapped at one that was close enough, but didn't manage to catch it, either. He went back up for a breath of air.

Jumping Frog watches him, the water ripples making it a bit hard to really see. She smiles at him when he reemerges, and nods. "Alright." Taking another deep breath, she submerges herself again. Blinking her eyes to get them used to the water, she watches and waits. Time and again, a fish comes close, but she ignores them. Then when one daring fish comes nearly close enough to touch her, she lunges, snapping her teeth closed on it. This time, it doesn't get away. Rising, careful to only breath through her nose, she smiles a bit, delight shining in her eyes at the catch.

Movement-in-the-Grass mimics Jumping Frog when she goes under the water, but once more, he is more focused on her than he is on the fish. So in his distracted manner, he is watching the doe as several fish pass him by. One of these stray far too close for it's own safety, and without thinking he snaps his head to the side and catches it easily. Just as he closes his teeth around the wriggling creature, the doe manages to catch one also. She makes it up to the surface first, and when he re-emerges he is met by the happiest face he had seen in a long time.
His fish proves to be a tricky one and manages to slip out of his grip when he returns a smile. Once more, reflexes take over and he manages to snatch teh same fish up before it gets away, but not without splashing a bunch of water over both himself and Jumping Frog. He straightens up, fish now firmly in his grip, and speaks around the fish. "Bery well dun, miladeh." His eyes cast down, but only for a moment while he stalled, "Sorreh 'bout the splashink."

Jumping Frog bites down harder on her fish, to keep from grinning and letting it loose. "Ith awrite." Turning, rather ungracefully, she heads back to shore. Walking up the bank, she lay down, trapping the still live fish between hoof and ground. Biting down on it's back, she breaks it's spine, but makes no move to kill it. Out of politeness she doesn't start eating. Waiting instead for Movement-in-the-Grass to join her.

Once more, he follows rather than imposing a lead. He waits until she leaves the water before he stands up, shakes himself off a little and then also walks out onto the shore. He sits down opposite her, drops his fish and holds it down with his hoof before snapping it's neck with one strong bite. Then, he also lays down, ready to enjoy the catch.

Jumping Frog smiles at him, then settles into her meal. She bites into the fish's belly, creating an entry point to try and skin it. Somewhat clumsily, she pulls the skin off in strips. Finished with that task, she starts in on the meat, savoring the taste of fresh fish.
[[sorry it's so short, my creative juices for eating have been devoured by another RP I'm in.]]

When it comes down to food, he really wasn't very picky. Movement happily tore into the fish, skin and all. After all, it was just a little bit of scales. He was used to meals like this, it was what he grew up on. That, and lush grass and berries. Nothing could beat the taste of the freshest, juiciest stalks of grass followed by a few sour berries. Well... except maybe a foxbun that's been cooked over those fires that are so rare to find in Mother Swamp.
Before very long, he was nibbling the last bits of meat off of the fish's spine. No piece of viable meat was left. The fish was as bare as could be, having only skin left on it's head, and that little bit of chewy stuff that is it's tail.
He looks up from his meal to see if Jumping Frog had enjoyed it as much as he did as he licks his lips clean of the last morsels of his fish.

Jumping Frog picks the last bits of flesh from her fish, then licks her lips to remove as much trace as possible. She stands, picking up the the remain, and walks over to the water. She tosses it in, more so as a way to depose of it then anything. Widening the space between her front legs, Jumping Frog bends down, rinsing her muzzle in the water, then taking a drink. Finished, she stands, turning to look at Movement-in-the-Grass, cocking her eyebrow, as if to ask "What next?"

Both of the kimeti having finished their meal, Movement was not sure what was next, so he took a moment to think, and came up with an idea. He took a step closer to the doe and said, "I've shown you how to fish... now... how about you show me how you catch frogs?" He smiled at her and hoped this might encourage her to spend even just a little more time with him. He'd do just about anything for a pretty doe, and this one definitely fit into that description.

A blush creeps across Jumping Frog's cheeks, just discernible beneath the fur. "Well, I don't actually catch them.." She wrinkles her muzzle up, remembering the one time she did try catching a frog. "I just follow them, and if I find one I like a nudge it toward my home." She takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Movement-in-the-Grass had taught her to fish, after all. It may not be the same, but the least she could do was show him how she herds frogs. "The hard bit is finding the frog, but after you do so long as you go slowly it's pretty easy."
She looks around, trying to see if there are any easy to reach frog 'spots' around here. "If they're swimmers, the best place to start is the water's edge." She heads along the pond's edge, looking between reeds and peering closely at leaf litter.

The green buck followed the pretty doe, listening to her speak, and nodding when necessary. For now, he figured it might be a good idea just to keep his mouth shut. He would give her a chance to share some of her knowledge with him and teach him something new. He approached the water's edge, too, and looked about, searching for frogs, but he couldn't see any, and so kept looking.
He stole a glance over at Jumping Frog every once in a while, allowing a smile to creep over his features. He was a very happy buck, until he remembered his earlier flails, which brought a wrinkle into his brow and pulled him back to remembering that he was searching for amphibians.

Catching the green buck stealing glances at her, Jumping Frog looses her concentration. Not for very long, but long enough that when she returns to her task she has to stop short to keep from squashing a frog. This puts her off balance, and she stumbles to the side. Blushing furiously, and hoping Movement-in-the-Grass had missed her show, she looks back to where the frog was. Just in time to see it hoping off a short distance away. "Found one." she calls, rushing to cut off the small creatures escape.
Coming around the frog, she plants herself between it and the safety of the bushes it had aimed for. Moving slowly, careful not to startle the small amphibian, Jumping Frog steps toward it. The frog, obligingly, hops away from her, back to it's original spot. "The trick is to keep focused on it, try and guess which way it will go and move to get it going where you want it." As she speaks, Jumping Frog steps closer to the water, then moves closer to the frog, causing him to jump further away from the pond.

The buck was caught up in his own tangled up thoughts to notice the doe stumble, but when she spoke he zoned right back into the task they had just begun. His head felt really funny, as if he were dizzy and had a headache at the same time. "Uhh.. huh..." A slight nod as he tried to follow what the female was doing and talking about. But his eyelids became more and more heavy until his head dipped, just once, and he started, jerking his head back up, awake once more. No, this had been a long day, he would have to excuse himself from the doe's company.
He stepped in front of the doe, and offered a small bow of the head, in a hope of a sincere apology, "My lovely lady, I'm sorry to be cutting you off so rudely, but I have something to ask of you. I would love if you could show me how to catch these elusive amphibians, but perhaps.... another day." A blush came over his cheeks, he was so embarrassed. He didn't know what came over him. "I really must beg your pardon and be on my way. My head is spinning, and I really want to give you the full attention you deserve. So, I think it would be best if I was on my way... I hope you don't think ill of me, and I would really like to see you again, Jumping Frog." And with that, he took a few steps back, looked up into the pretty doe's eyes and then began making his way back to his den. He really had to take care of this headache, but he made a resolve to make sure to make it up to Jumping Frog next time he saw her. He'd have to do something sweet, but for now it was off for a nap to kill this dizzying headache.
((I hope it's alright I ended this one. I think in the future some time, they should meet again to catch frogs, or herd frogs. ))
