"Eh, I wasn't invited," replied Hal with a smile, "But who's going to throw out a gatecrasher that's THIS charming?" Then, he leaned in, and asked a little more quietly, "I know that this is going to be a little wierd, but the Supergirl that I knew was killed fighting the Anti-Monitor some years ago. So unless there's something I'm missing, I don't believe I know you..."

Kara blinked, and then frowned. "I hope not. I'm Kara Zor-El..." she added, looking at him quizzically, "Kal's my cousin. There have been a few Supergirls, I think."

Hal looked more confused than anything. Same name, yet she knew that there were other Supergirls... "Kara, when did you come to Earth?" he asked quietly, as he didn't know how open she was with her name.

Gossamer grinned a bit. "Well, Rosie simply insisted we come to this little party. Seems she's more interested in the junk food at the moment though."

Kara was starting to look uncomfortable. "A few years ago," she said slowly. If she was going to die fighting the Anti-Monitor, she didn't want to know about it.

Joker grinned wider. He'd have to remember to give the kid some money for candy or something. "It would appear to be that way. Lucky for me."
Hal sighed. "What year is it? This will tell me what I need to know."

Hal sighed in relief. It was Kara, but a different Kara. "Okay, you must have gotten re-written into the future after that. So, you're not EXACTLY the same Supergirl I knew. You just look a lot like her. And have all the same mannerisms. And the same looks. A little weird, but nothing too big."
The Joker leaned in and whispered into her ear, "I hope it's a LONG while..."
Hal turned and saw the motion Joker made. "Kara? Is the JOKER scoring, or am I hallucinating? Because I'm really hoping I'm hallucinating."

Hal began looking around. "Where's the host? I want to make sure that they didn't put crack in the ventilation system. Because there is NO WAY that can be happening. When did the Joker become the villain equivalent of me?"

"Me too." Gossamer smiled. "There are enough heros around here anyway, so I'm sure she'll be fine for a while. You ah, wanna see what else this little party has to offer?"
Sapphire groaned a bit as she finished her drink. "Gossamer? Not at all." she mumbled.

Hal laughed at Kara's comment. "You didn't know me back before the Crisis. Casanova's an amateur compared to me." He turned to face the costume thathad added on to the 'Gossamer' bit. "I don't think I know you. I'm Hal. Hal Jordan." He held out a hand for her.

Kara snorted with laughter. "Well, I'll leave you two to it, then." She winked at Sapphire, and went off to explore the rest of the party. She had another two years before she could drink, anyway.
