"I was being polite, my dear," he chuckled as pushed through the overgrown foliage.
If I remember correctly, there is a river near-by... he tried to pull up the certain memory while he kept his ears open for sounds of rushing water.
"When we reach the river near here, we can build a raft from this bamboo, and float downstream. It's a bit off course, but it gets us closer to our destination," he stated with seriousness laced through his tone, letting his partner know what the plan was.

"That would definitely make our trail hard to follow...
But only for a little bit.
Maybe a few days."
She sighed,
"Then we'll need a way to get money,
And get supplies,
Then passage..."

"We'll need to find someone that's familiar with this area then. They'll be able to help us in our travels," he proposed while he continued to listen for water.
"If we find this person, though, we have to hide our real identities until we can trust them. We can't risk being caught by the empire, or our dream will be crushed."
This possibility saddened him for a mere moment, but he shook it away and continued to concentrate, focused on finding their way to the river.

We can moonlight as peasants or something,
Make it difficult for us to be recognized."
She Pushed through a small section of bamboo,
Smiling as she saw a small section of river
"It must get bigger further down..."

Tsubasa smiled and squeezed Biyu's shoulder.
"Thanks for finding it," he stated while he pulled out his compass again.
"If we pose as peasants, though, wouldn't it be strange for us to be all the way out here where civilization is no where to be found?" he asked as he studied the tiny contraption he held in his pale hand. After discovering where "East" was, he stuffed it back in his robes and walked beside the stream in the correct direction.
Hopefully we're going the correct way, he pondered, worried that the river wouldn't grow.

Breaking a few for the raft

A shiver ran through the surrounding bamboo stalks. There was a brief sound of sleepy confusion...Then a staff tumbled down, followed shortly after by a rather large cloth-covered straw hat and quickly followed by a young half-asleep girl.

Tsubasa nodded his head at her conclusion, and moved to help her break the bamboo.
"I doubt many don't know our real names though, so we should be fine introducing ourselves with our given names," he added while placed a bamboo stock he broke off on the floor next to his feet.
Suddenly a girl fell from the stocks, startling Tsubasa.
Quickly he drew his sword and stood in front of Biyu to protect her.
"Who are you?" he boomed while he held the tip of his sword at the girl's forehead, not noticing that she was asleep.

She looked around, her eyes half open.
"Is it...Morning yet?" She mumbled, yawning. Her eyes caught on the sword, but her brain didn't register what it was, "Shiney..."

A scowl overcame Tsubasa's features, displeased that this stranger took no threat to his sword.
"Well then," he mumbled as he pushed the tip of the sword onto the girl's forehead, almost to where it could break the skin.
"I'll ask you again, who are you and why are you out here?" he questioned, wondrous if this was a goon sent out by the empire to capture him and Biyu.

She blinked a little, waking up a bit more and realizing that there was a sword on her forehead. She pouted a bit, leaning her head back.
"Now, you're not being very nice...I'm Shuang, and I was sleeping," She pointed up into the bamboos, where a rather large, raggy blanket was tied up between the strongest stalks...One of the edges had been untied from the vibrations caused by the bamboo's shaking.

"Do you work for the empire?" he questioned quickly, drawing his sword back just a bit.
He wasn't going to take any chances if Biyu's safety was involved.
