"Cool!" Vergil cooed.
His eyes took in the large area of the flea market, and the shifting swirl of people. Reuben meandered alongside him, craning his head to see what was what at each of the vendors' tables.
"Have you seen any furniture around here?" He asked Rinali.

Furniture vendors are usually that way" Rinali pointed to the other ends of the building " By the back doors so their stuff is easier to get out of the place without getting in the way of everyone else shopping." Sensible really if you thought about it.
Wren who could care less about furniture or the discussing of it veered left suddenly to look at a stall featuring a verity of handcrafted wooden toys. tops, yo-yos little jointed moving dolls. All wooden all fairly small and yet incredibly detailed. " Look" he insisted softly.

Reuben nodded, seeing the logic. "Thanks! I'm trying to pick up a few things for Verge, so it's good that they're all in the same place." He'd be able to move his car closer and getting everything stowed should be a snap. Or so he hoped.
Vergil's face lit up as he saw what Wren was pointing to. "Wow," he breathed, "hey, that one there looks like a knight!" He cried gleefully, pointing to one of the dolls.

" Well we can head that way as soon as the boys are done looking here " They could browse as they walked and stall at least head towards where the man needed to go. It seemed like the best plan to Rinali especially since it would gives the boys a bit longer to talk and she felt Wren really did need to make friends more even if it was just a random friend.
The other songbird's green eyes followed where Vergil was pointing and he too smiled at the knight even if he had no idea what a knight was. " I like it" it wasn't his favorite piece but it was certainly and made him wonder just what a knight was.
"Glad you boys like them." A short, portly woman smiled at the two youngsters. She had made everything here herself and was glad even when people stopped to pay attention, never mind if they bothered to buy something.

Reuben nodded appreciatively. "Sounds good!" Once he was sure that what he needed was present and he had a way to get to it, he felt much better about wandering and indulging Vergil's curiosity. "Seems like there's plenty of interesting stalls. Any you two have seen that looked cool? Verge and I just got here, so we're open to recommendations."
Vergil grinned. His dad loved reading him storybooks before he went to sleep, and knights and dragons featured prominently in them. On hearing the woman speak, his eyes widened. "Did you make these all yourself?" He inquired, eyes lingering over each one, absorbing the details.

" It depends on what you define as cool." Rinali loved glass work and jewelery, things that were complex and had clearly taken a great deal of effort to make but those weren't necessarily things Reuben would enjoy. "There's a bit of everything here though and I come every few weeks so I know where most of the regulars and their sections are." She didn't always buy something but she liked to look.
The woman nodded " Yes, it's hard work but I like it."
Wren grinned he bet it was hard work, the kind only grown ups could do. as it was his own small fingers had a hard time with zippers and buttons never mind making things. He looked over at the equally small Vergil " Can you make things?"

Reuben nodded. "This is my first time here, so I'm not exactly sure what these people are offering." He thought for a moment, considering things that he enjoyed. "How about old books or swords?" He wasn't big on violence, but he did enjoy looking at the swords and medieval objects. Considering how young Vergil still was, Reuben wasn't going to chance anything by purchasing one, but looking was always fun, just to see what people had.
Vergil smiled up at the woman, too. He had a feeling that it must take a long time to make them. He looked at her with wide eyes, respectful of such skill. "How long did it take you to learn that?"
Wren's question made Vergil frown a little. He recalled a preschool project he'd done with Stas where he'd found that he wasn't very good with making macaroni necklaces. "I can't make necklaces yet, but I'm working on it." He said, trying to retain a bit of pride. "But I can do shoes with that black scratchy stuff!"

" Books are that way" Rinali pointed off to the east " There's a guy called cherrin who's usually got some nice classics from various worlds. She'd picked one up for Tal the other day. " Weapons dealer are only permitted one a month and are in hall H so you won't them here today." He'd have to come back on the sheduled day to get something of that nature.
" Several years" the woman admitted " and I wasn't very good when I started."
" You can make shoes?" Wren was astounded by the idea that someone his age could make shoes.his attention left the little wooden carving and he merely stared at vergil and shifted from foot to foot, content to be lead by the adults again.

"Thanks," Reuben said, making a note to check out that area later. "I like leafing through old books, so maybe if Verge is distracted with something, I'll get a chance to check them out. I'm surprised this place has a weapons hall--maybe I'll have to come back later." Hell if he could actually wield anything, but it was fun having it around. He'd had to move a lot of his stuff into storage since Vergil had come along, though.
Vergil nodded, little hand balling up into a fist of determination. "So if I started trying to learn that, maybe I could be as good as you someday?" He asked, eyes set and ready to throw himself into any task.
Vergil nodded proudly to Wren. "Yup! All you do is flap down the flaps and tada!" He spun around, arms outstretched, narrowly missing the neighboring stall's display. This earned him a stern look from Reuben. Vergil cooled it down a little bit. "But yeah! My Dad's an expert at it." Putting down the velcro flaps was his favorite part of putting shoes on, and he'd been really proud when he'd learned it.

Then woman had nodded and smiled, going to reply but was forced to turn her attention to a gentleman who was eyeing some of the figurines and was more likely to buy them.
" You could go look at them now if you want " Rinali offered, " I can watch the boys and guide them towards the furniture section. the children could play and Reuben could get what he needed to done at the same time.
Wren just smiled, clearly this boy who caused him to make strange noises and his feathers to go all funny was rather interesting.

Vergil watched the woman for a little while, eyes still shining with determination. Then, when it became evident that she wasn't going to pay attention to him, he pouted and harumphed to himself. But, Reuben had taught him to be polite, so he, albiet unwillingly, let it go.
Instead, the plants of a nearby vendor caught his eye. Pointing at one of the spikey ones, he grinned at Wren. "Do you have a garden at your house? Dad says our place is too small for one, but I want to grow those plants that eat things."
Reuben considered Rinali's offer. He'd only just met her, and while she seemed like a very nice woman, he wasn't sure if he'd trust Vergil to her yet. "Thanks for offering, but I think I'll stick with you guys for around. It's so big in here I'd probably get lost." He laughed, still a little in awe at the size of the center and the magnitude of shops that had been crammed into it.

The seraph nodded her earrings jingling as she did so. Rinali was in no way offended, she was used to living in close family communities where such things were commons and you didn't have to worry about strangers wandering off with your children if they offered to watch them.
That and the man could honestly get lost here, it was really built like a casino that way, large with lots of shiny things and no clocks, you could wander for ages before you realized where you were or that you'd already see a certain set of stalls twice.
Wren's green eyes closed for a moment as he thought and the boy reached up to run his fingers over the smooth bone of the skull on his necklace " No Home garden but there is a garden" he said softly and slowly making sure to get each word out correctly as he imagined the rather large layout of his home. The boy's eyes opened gain and he looked curiously at Vergil as they edged toward's the plant filled stall" What do the plants eat?" He had been told after all that plants ate sunshine.

Reuben's eyes roved over the shops and stalls, trying to decide where to go next. He didn't want to keep Vergil out too long-- his kid had a short tolerance for shopping. "You guys feel like moving on?" He asked, half-curious as to whether Vergil wanted something or if they were just browsing.
Vergil nodded, staring at the skull that the boy fingered. He certainly didn't have anything like that, but it did seem really cool. "These plants eat bugs!" He said excitedly. "Dad showed me a picture of them a while ago. Bugs just fly in and they get eaten!" Vergil clearly thought that this was the coolest thing he'd ever heard of.

"Just walk" Rinali advised. "They'll either follow or protest" At least that was how she'd done it with Pyran anyways and she'd never had any problems.
" Weird, Mac eats bugs." Mac was not a plant though and would eat pretty much anything if Wren thought about it. " Plants that eat bugs would be good though." Wren had no personal fondness for bugs, not even the pretty red and black ladybugs.

Reuben looked down at Vergil, knowing full well that his kid would just stick around and not even notice that he had left. It was useful, but sometimes a little weird. "Alright, Verge, we're moving on."
Vergil sighed and shrugged, his mind quickly returning back to the conversation at hand. "Woah, really?" He gasped. "Can he eat pinecones, too?" Vergil had attempted to consume a pinecone once, but Reuben had stopped him in the nick of time.
