I'd do them for others if they were willing to pay, mainly because I'm still a beginner, myself, and it'd take a huge amount of time on my part. But once I got more skilled at it, I'd start to charge less and less. That is, if it were images and whole new layout. If it were something simple, such as font colors and a few image changes from a url, I'd do it for free.Currently, I'm making my own images for mine, so yeah.

I'm really not at a level to think of commisioning or anything, but I think price would kind of depend on quality + time spent.
I probably would not go to high though, since most who can afford it will usually tip decently, or possibly refer other members to you, but they might do neither if they don't get what they consider a good deal.
I also think image hosting should play a role in the price. (Are you hosting the images yourself, or did you have access to some space of theirs for them, etc.)
There's probably other issues like this that I haven't even thought of either.

A friend of mine payed me 2000 for his.
And I did another in exchange for art.
I'm still learning, so I can't offer customized profiles with custom arrangements.
But maybe in the future.
I usually do mine for free.
But I get tipped now and then.
I submitted the images to TinyPic so I wouldn't have to bother with them being on my photobucket.
But i'm considering creating a profile with random image generated Header...or something.

You cant really sell the one you are currently using because it can be taken from your source code. Unfortunately, some people don't realize this.

When I make a profile theme for myself, I always put it up on tektek. One of them has actually surprised me and become quite popular! WHEEE!
As for actual commissions, I tried briefly. Someone wanted a profile of some asian musician. They gave me a couple pictures to work from, but... I just couldn't do it. It wasn't my inspiration, and I couldn't get the images to look right at all. It's doubly awful because if something goes wrong, I can't just put it off, work on something else, and unwind for a bit because I have to get it done! I hate that! I finally just gave up and returned her money.
So, where I am now, I won't sell profiles. I'm just not confident enough in my abilities, both as a coder and as a graphic artist.

I'm planning on making a bunch of free profiles for public use. Somebody offered me 50k to make them a custom one, but that's not nearly enough motivation for me. xd
In all honesty, I don't think my work is worth near that much. It's just that... I can make money faster vending then I can making profiles. A single profile can take me 1-2 weeks of near constant work to complete. All that time spent to make 50k, which I can easily make during a full day of hardcore vending, seems silly and pointless to me. If I'm going to make profiles for others, I'm going to do it because I'm dealing with an interesting theme or concept, and/or good people I'd like to make happy. There's no way I could be motivated for profit because in my mind profile making is not profitable.

I don't think so.
I like to make my style of profile mine only.
Even if that may not happen because of copiers and such, I don't absolutely love giving out profiles for free.
My current profile is one I made for my friend Ian.
This is actually my spare account for making profiles. My main is Pokeyoats.
But Ian's my friend so I made him one, also because his request of a batcave seemed challenging, so I looked forward to it.
So basically I wouldn't give out profiles for free unless you're my good friend, and you'd have to pay me lots to get one if you're not.
But I was actually thinking of making a profile auction soon anyway.

Well, I'm not the best at making profiles yet, so if I did ever make one at my level of understanding, I wouldn't charge much for it...only like...1K or even less. :3
But once I do actually better understand all the codes and ect. I may open a shop and sell them for only like...5K at most. ^-^

When I make a profile, I usually submit it on tektek.org for others to use. For the others, I don't have a shop or anything but I accept commissions when people contact me about it. I usually charge about 5k if it's long, complicated or unpleasant to do. If the person looks nice, I usually give it for free.

I can sorta create layouts for a profile but I don't have much expirence.
I have no idea how to do custom layouts.
But I wouldn't put any I make on tektek.
I would help someone out with making one, if I can.

Ruevian I don't know about you guys, but as soon as the CSS for extended profiles came about, one of my first thoughts was, "How long until someone sets up a profile shop?" Then tek-tek came out with user-submitted themes, and this was good also. My question for discussion is this: would you sell profile layouts for people who can't figure CSS out? Would you submit them for free? Would you make them for others at all?
