Adalgiso directed Neferous's attention back to him. "So, what did your parents want you to say?" he asked, curious.

Neferous looked at Adal again, saying, "Well, I've been contacted by some aggressive demons before. They've started to cause trouble in our settlement, so my parents sent me here to sort this out."

"So, I take it as they didn't stop?" Jillian asked, using common sense. If they stopped, he wouldn't be here.

Olin walked back out, and sat just outside the door. He really didn't know where he needed to go, or what he needed to do. He just knew that somehow, he needed to get some food. He looked around as he sat, soaking in everything and memorizing his surroundings while he waited.

Nef looked back at the door and began to wonder if he had seen that red-haired guy before. "I think that guy lived in my village once," he said to no one in particular. "The fire... Oh, no they didn't stop and now they're shadowing our neighborhood. If they found out I went to Pinnet, they might do something crazy."

"No problem. We'll send someone there who can blend in for crowd control. But, for now, how far is the village? Do you need to stay a night or two?" Adalgiso offered, curious about the lifestyle of this village. Villages had been few and far between since the war had come.

Nef shook his head, "The only reason they were there was because I was. It'd be easier to apprehend them with me, but I'd probably stir things up too much." He looked towards Olin outside and tossed him a bag containing stale bread. Nef looked again at Adalgiso. "I can flush them out, but I'll need some strong assistance. Let me know when if you want me to come." With that, Nef left the office and sat next to Olin.

"I don't accept free food," Olin said as The demon sat beside him. "I work hard for everything I get. Besides, I have some bread left, and its not as stale as what you just through at me. Thanks for the offer anyway."
Olin never looked at the person now sitting beside him. He had seen to much already in this life of demon's work. Years ago, he wasn't racist towards anyone, but demons were worse now than they were back then. He was being civil, even so. He did have some left over bread, and he had never been one to take charity.
Life had gotten bad since his family died. Olin was no longer the innocent, fun-loving youth of his treasured past. Now, he was someone who could be seen as heartless. He never killed unless he had to, but he never showed any emotion. He just went in, did his job, and left. There wasn't much else someone who had lost everything could do.

"We share everything in my village," Nef said, "Things have gotten worse since the war started. Anyway, I can't tell what stale bread is. But I can tell a human tainted with the hate of a demon." Nef stood up, but with the same utter lack of concern as he entered with.
"I remember hearing about the fire in your settlement. I want you to know that I'm not a freak, that not all demons burn the bridges of humans. However, if we can offer you nothing, we don't have a lot of common ground do we?" He picked up the bread and finally admitted, "I might know the demons that torched your home."

Olin's eyes shot open for a split second. Noone had ever been able to prove what started the fire that killed his family. Even if they had, what would it matter? Nothing would bring back the memories of that night. The screams of his mother as he ran out as fast as he could. He had turned back to try to save her, but the floor collapsed.
The hardest part of that night was that he caught a glimpse of his mother burning alive as he escaped. His father had died trying to jump to freedom. He broke his neck. His sister died silently. The roof collapsed on her before she had woken up to it. He was left with nothing.
Now this Demon told him that this fire was more than likely not an accident?! A fire burned inside Olin like he had never felt before. Anger tore through him like a bear through a bee hive in search for honey. For the first time, Olin looked at the demon. The anger and pain obvious across his now pale face.

Jillian and Adalgiso sat inside talking. "It's true that he would cause more strife, but if we disguised him as one of us, we could get them to believe no one left to get help." Adalgiso said. Jillian shook her head. "What, a demon among the Pinnet? Thats less possible than a demon in a human settlement." she said, leaning against the wall. Adalgiso smiled triumphantly, knowing he'd won this argument."Again, true, but he doesn't have wings, since he didn't grow up demon. How can anyone tell if he changes his aura and uses no powers?"
Jillian sighed, defeated, and Adalgiso went and told him the news and circumstances.

Nef watched Olin's expression and felt a flush of shame. This wasn't the first time he had inflicted this agony on a another. He could feel the time limit lingering, forcing him to leave or get punched. "I don't know why I tell you this, other than you should absolutely know in your own right. There was a fire-fight between my father and a gang of demons. I was told by my mom that he was fighting off "bad guys" and I found out about it only when gossip reached me. It might be the cause of your fire, and the gang responsible is harassing my village-" He stopped abruptly at Adal's entrance.

"Alright, you can come if you smother yourself in human aura to hide your demon, and if you can refrain from using your powers."

Nef shrugged. "My powers are only a reaction. If I'm attacked or afraid of attack, it kicks in. As for my aura, I'm half human. A little human sweat will cover it nicely." For the first time a look of apprehension broke his caustic appearance. This was what he wanted them to do. Perhaps it was what the man wanted... "Guy, what's your name? Do you want to join this mission? Answer the second question first." He blurted all in Olin's direction.

Olin Thought about all of this in anger. "I want to go too," he said finally, looking up at the girl. He stood up. He hated this new knowledge, but there was nothing he could do about it if he stayed here. "I am capable with a sword, though mine snapped... If I could get one here, I could be a great asset in battle."
Truthfully, he was decent with a blade, but what he failed to mention is that the blade he had snapped in half due to his own anger. He had thrown it against a cliff.
