Her look of confusion was a little disheartening at first, and he was sure she wasn't going to understand, until her question started to pour out. For the first time in a long while, he felt a smile spread across his maw, and he nodded at her eagerly. "Yes, that's it exactly. Spirits are in everything, they are the reason for everything that happens - kind of like their jobs. When gods command their domain, they are commanding the spirits in it to do their bidding." It was a bit of a ramble, and certainly a bit fast paced, but he never realized how excited he could become when talking about the things he knew best. For once, he felt a little closer to home.
He wasn't about to touch on the subject of spirit-talking though, as he certainly thought that was something she'd not understand. If it took this much to get his point across, it would be quite a bit harder to go into detail.
"I'd like you to see it too," he said in return, and though his smile had faded a little, he found himself truly meaning it. Perhaps it was just the fact that for once, someone beyond the boundaries of his pride seemed to understand him, but he was warming to her quickly. "I'd invite you to come along if I knew how your parents might react," he glanced back the way she had come, then forward to the way he would eventually be going. It was disheartening to think of going on alone after such a pleasant conversation, but in the end, he knew it must be done.

"Ohhhhhhhhh." That made a lot more sense, when gods were commanding their domain. They were calling on the spirits to do their jobs, or perhaps even more than their jobs: whatever the gods wanted at the time. "I see. Thanks for explaining it," she added with another grin.
Speaking of leaving, it was getting late and Nesrine knew that her parents would want her home soon. She glanced back towards home, behind her, and made a face. She didn't want to go. She did want to see his pride. She wanted to go on an adventure, too.
"What about spending just a night here? I'll talk to my parents and then I can...I can meet you here! Tomorrow, and I'll come with you. Is that okay?" That would give her a night to talk to her parents, and then she would tell them (not asking, she was an adult now, or pretty close to it) that she was going to the swamp pride. With a new friend.
It was only one night. "Or do you have to leave right now?" she asked a bit sadly. "I understand if you do. Maybe I could catch up to you, then." Since he wasn't going to come back this way anyway (it was a bit of a fluke that they even met in the first place), that was the only possible other option.

"You're quite welcome," he said pleasantly, and finding that he actually meant it. Was that also part of his job on this pilgrimage? Some unspoken duty? Sharing with others the idea behind their pride, the knowledge and truths it had built upon? There was simply something about it that made him feel.. fulfilled.
Her suggestion that he stay, however, struck him silent with surprise. He stared at her she rambled on, his brows lifting as he realized that it was indeed getting late and she would have to no doubt return home soon. Had he really captured her interest so much with his stories? In a way, he supposed he had, and for the first time since he'd stepped foot into the rogue lands, he felt as if his mother would be proud of what he was doing.
"I think I can stay, yeah," he said slowly, his tail whipping behind him as he thought about it. The spirits hadn't really commanded him to go anywhere yet, and staying here to wait for her felt just as right as moving forward, if not more so. It would be nice to finally have someone to talk to out here. "I'll be waiting here, then, okay? Or.. close by, at least." He thought about getting some food, and water, but he figured there were sources close enough by that she'd find him easily even if he strayed a little.
His gaze lifted to look around him, picking out areas that would be good to look for such things in, or shelter, deciding already how to use his night. What an odd day this had turned out to be. His gaze finally whipped back to her, and he offered her a hesitant smile. "I'll be waiting in the morning then."

For a moment, Nesrine was scared that he wouldn't say yes. Weren't the spirits particular about that? She thought they would be. She would be, if she was a spirit. But maybe they weren't too picky. Just...enough to count for some times.
"Oh, good!" she exclaimed, however, when he did say yes. Her very own trip! Father would be so proud of her. That reminded her: she had to go tell her parents about leaving. That would be..interesting.
"I will see you in the morning," she promised with a grin large enough for the both of them. Without another thought, she whirled around and sprinted home, eager to inform her parents of her newly-developed plans. Surely they wouldn't hold her back. They wanted the best for their children, right? So wouldn't this adventure be good for Nessie?
She hoped for the best as she reached her home.
