Esme mentions several times that Beatrice stole her sugar bowl. Wait a sec, I remember. Just a sec, lemmee make a change and repost da list.

1. Lemony Snicket loved her.
2. She's dead.
3. She was accused of stealing Esme's sugar bowl at some point, although Snicket admits that he stole it, dressed as a chest of drawers.
4. Her house was burned down.
5. She married someone who wasn't Snicket.
6. She and Lemony were going to get married, and were apparently warned not to go.
7. She was an actor.
8. She was in VFD.
9. She shares some of the same traits as the Baudelaires' mother.
10. Captain Widdershins showed her a disturbing article about Lemony Snicket.
11. The Baudelaire orphans don't recognize her name.
12. She was mentioned along with the Baudelaire's parents at the end of the eleventh book.
13. A news article (#10?) from The Daily Punctilio made her think Lemony was dead.

paradoxical
I still think that she might be the Baudelaire's mother.. An aunt sounds likely too though.

Yay!
Finally, someone who doesn't think the idea is crazy...

And my second guess is that maybe Count Olaf was/is married to Beatrice...><;
Which is probably why Count Olaf and his troupe are after Lemony...

Oh dear... I'll bet that's why LS dedicates all his books to Beatrice. He feels guilty about her death. Esme thinks that Beatrice stole the sugar bowl and then she burns down her house looking for it and Beatrice dies... Or something like that.

I still have a hard time believing that she might be related to the Baudelaires. It's just that she's been mentioned in front of them before and they've never gone, 'what? Mom?' or, 'hey, is that our Aunt Beatrice?' Any characteristics she shares with the Baudelaire mother are, I think, Red Herrings to make us believe that's who she is. Also, if she and Mrs. Baudelaire were both members of VFD, I think it stands to reason that they might've partaken in the same activites. Eg: Lion training

I'm certain she isn't related to the Baudelaires. It's just another red herring.

Yes, I think she is in VFD. Yes, she died horribly, probably at the hands of people from the 'volatile' side of the schism. Yes, she knew the Baudelaire parents. But...I really doubt she's related.

I don't thinks he is related to the baudelaires, however they didn't know their "uncle" monty or "aunt" jo until the went to live with them.
I also believe that she may have been married to Olaf & that Esme did blame her for something that she did not do.

In each book we learn more and more about Beatrice

What we know:
-She is dead (obviously, Snicket puts it in every single dedication)
-Snicket loved her
-Her house burnt down
-She was on the good side of VFD
-She stole the Sugar Bowl from Olaf's ex-girlfriend (can't remember the name)
-She was married

I'm guessing that Beatrice is the Bauldelaire's mother. I know it's strange, but I can't think of anything against it so it's totally possible.

I don't think that Beatrice is their mother. Most people know their parents names,if not when they get older. sweatdrop I think I remember Beatrice was married to someone she didn't want to be.

This is true... Although wasn't Monty not really their uncle? I thought he just wanted to be called 'uncle'. Maybe I'm just making this up, but I thought that him and Jo weren't really their uncle and aunt but rather some sort of distant cousins... question

I think she was on the good shism of VFD, because the bad schism burned her house down.

... a series of communications from someone named Beatrice.

Wow... way to pick up on that, I'd completely missed it. This is good; it means that book is almost definately real. I saw a 'book' that hadn't been released yet that could supposedly be pre-ordered by Lemony Snicket on www.chapters.ca called "Changed Man" but after a few months, the link sort of disappeared. This disappointed me just because I always assumed Chapters to be fairly reliable.

Aw well, if a book called "Changed Man" ever comes out, you can remember this post.
