I have never hated Raoul. I disliked him in the book becuase he seemed whiny and self-centered. However, in other versions, writers and directors have made him a little more "heroic" than his first incarnation. After seeing the ALW musical, I felt kind of bad for him because both he and Erik were victims of Christine's manipulation(well, the musical anyway, in the movie she is more kindly depicted by Emily Rossum). So, I didn't like him anymore, but I didn't like him any less.

I doubt that I could ever, under any circumstance, even BEGIN to feel for Raoul. I despise the man (read: #%$^*&^&$$@pansy-@$$fop!!!!!!!).

I've never really hated Raoul...my opinion's alway been something along the lines of "eh..."
I like Erik roughly a thousand times more, of course (...but if I had been Christine I would have gone with the Perisan...>_>), though I never really thought Raoul did anything wrong.
Still, it is fun to make fun of him. X3

I think that some people have a dislike of Raoul becaus ehe disrupts Erik's happiness. However, it is important to keep in mind that until Apollo's Lyre, he had no idea Erik even existed. ONLY CHRISTINE went back and forth between her suitors. Raoul only had eyes for Christine and was unaware of his competition. So....Hate Christine, not the innocent fop she dragged into this.

I liked him more in the movie than in the book, but I still think that he's a fop. I think that part of it might be his competition. The phantom isn't really as cool as he is in the book. And the sword fight didn't exactly help.

I didn't like the sword fight. I mean, Erik was pretty much dominating the entire fight, and then suddenly something happens and he loses his sword. Then Raoul's about to kill him and Christine stops him. That's just throwing salt in the wound at that point.

And what really doesn't make sence is that in the musical in the macarade scene he dissapears and reappears but in the sword fight he can't I mean whats up with that? and I mean we all know Erik is like 10x smarter than the fop so it made no sence

Raoul jumped in through the trapdoor, and all of a sudden he's in this mirrored room. I'm sitting there and I'm thinking: OMFG! eek He's in the torture chamber! They put in the torture chamber! I was sitting there and kind of hoping that the torture would begin when all of a sudden Madame Giry shows up and takes the fop out of there.

Yeah, that was my initial reaction, too. "AWESOME! IT'S THE TORTURE CHAMBER! YAY!"
And then Mme. Giry had to show up. ;-;

Well, THEY WON'T GET ME! *runs far away* confused Okay...I guess I should stop coming up with conspiracy theories then. They also could have gotten away with making Butler's entire face deformed since it was a movie. If it gave him trouble singing they could have just come back later and have him dub that whole part over. That's the nice thing about movies. They can do things like that!
