"I smell like it, too," Carmel bragged, holding out an arm to him, even though he was far too far away to smell it.
"It tends to happen that way," Chris said. "Mind if we sit over there?" he asked, motioning to a clear area nearby. "And what is your sister? Is she from a cabbage or something else?"
He led the way to the clearing, just assuming the others would follow. He figured they'd eat and then get to the games part. And if he was lucky he could win the girls a prize or two.

Fish's soda coating was beginning to dry and get quite sticky. He scowled and tugged on Orli's arm. "Come on," he said to her. "Let's go down to the beach. Feely and her friends are no fun."
Orli nodded in agreement. "Teenagers don't know how to have fun," she concurred.
"We're going down to the water," Fish told his sister, and then both children beat a hasty retreat before anyone could move to stop them.
Ophelia shrugged, watching them go. "Puppy love," she said to the others with a laugh. As amusing as they were, however, she had to worry about the influence Orli might be having on her younger sibling. She was not known for being the most polite child in the world, after all.
She helped herself to a plate of chips and ketchup, and then followed Chris over to where he'd elected they ought to sit. "How's your summer been so far?" she asked, and found herself glad that Fish was no longer there to be distracting.

"He too far away to smell," Rayne pointed out to the other girl, as if it needed pointing out.
"Awesome," Rory answered as she walked to the place Chris had picked out. She set Rayne on the ground before taking seat with her plate of food. Some how she managed to balance it all out so no one and nothing else fell. "I've got a part time job delivering pizzas, and I actually like it, too."

" We don't know" Rook admitted once they'd reached where they were going " She just wandered into mom's shop one day with amnesia and it's never gone away." Much like how Andrea had joined the family only without the amnesia bit. The crimson eyed boy supposed he wasn't entirely different either although how precisely his cabbage had wandered into the backroom of the store remained a mystery.
Now that that were seated Rook let the pop can rest on the ground and wrapped his long tail around his waist before looking up at Carmel. " Do people smell you a lot?" It was one thing to love chocolate like the little fox girl had said but another entirely to smell like it and probably having people following you aroudn becuase of it, or anything like that.

"Only when she tells them to," Chris said. "And at her dance classes and her swimming classes and her singing classes and--"
"Mama said I don't gotta sing no more," Carmel bragged.
"Because she broke glass that last time," Chris agreed as he reached up and took her off of his shoulders so she could sit by Rayne. "I've got a job working construction," he added for Ophelia's benefit. "It pays good and it's easy."
Carmel, rather than sitting down, toddled over to Rook so he could smell her. It was a privilege to! Or, according to Carmel, it was.

"Oh," said Ophelia. Pizza delivery? Construction? Both of those sounded like good jobs, at least for Chris and Rory. She bet you got to meet a lot of interesting people doing either, but she hadn't considered that her friends might be working this summer. Maybe she ought to get a job as well - then she wouldn't have to feel bad asking her father for spending money so often.
"I think there are other sorts of children on Gaia who can grow all at once," she said, chiming into the conversation. "Chris, Rory, you guys know Nahuel, right?"
Of course they did. They'd gone to school with him for a year.
"He did the growing all at once thing, and he says he's not from a cabbage."
But, she knew, most of those present, including herself, were. As well as most of their school, it seemed.
"Maybe I should get a job," she said, back to the original train of thought. There had to be somewhere near her house where she could work.

Rook too pondered the getting of a job but figured he was too young for anyone to want him and he sort of already worked for his mother as it was. He was easily strong enough to stock the racks and fridges of the convenience store and he rather liked it. Everything had it's place and the places were always the same. The organized structure of the store's layout and the placement of it's products was something Rook loved abut the place.
The crimson eyed boy was a bit surprised by Carmel's action regardless he leaned forward and inhaled lightly to be polite. A smile blossomed on the boy's face " You really do smell nice like chocolate." Not enough to make him want to try and bite her or anything silly like that but enough to make him want some.
