She smirked excitedly seeing as how she had illicited fear within the skinwalker, a feat she'd be able to brag to her family about one day if she ever ran into any of them. She smirked at how slow the bear's movements now were, as she evaded the bear's defensive attacks easily. The instinct to flee and survive was probably running through Howl like crazy right now, because she honestly didn't care if she died--that skinwalker was going down. Of course, Iolanthe was on hyper alert at this point since she was beyond furious; her eyes were pitch black as it was, and well, it was amazing she was managing to scare off the skinwalker, but she wanted flesh, blood, and meat, and the skinwalker was her target. Too bad for Howl. Iolanthe smiled a rather lethal smile as she stalked towards the skinwalker, licking her lips in anticipation. She was hungry, she was tired, but most of all, she wanted to kill. She was a hunter through and through, and now that she had finally cornered her prey, she wasn't letting it go anywhere. She was quite happy to finally get some food, too, since she hadn't eaten for about two days, and that obviously made her pretty cranky--only reason she hadn't been too bitchy was because of Lon--but, that thought needed to be put away for later contemplation. For now, her meal was waiting!

That is, of course, until she felt the lurking presence of another in their midst.

She froze, wondering if it was yet again another nasty visitor. Trying to discern who it was, she was momentarily distracted by Lon, who was bleeding profusely and was wounded quite terribly. She was also surprised that Lon was able to talk, and then she turned her attention back to the skinwalker. Prey or healer? She wasn't sure at this point, but she knew if made a choice, one or the other would run off. Damn, why did a unicorn have to come at this point in time? No matter, I'll-- But wait, what about Lon? It wasn't right for him to lay there bleeding, close to death, when there was a healer here. But, if she left the skinwalker alone the nasty thing would probably go on to hunt others, because, like all predators, hunting was their survival, and it was their only way of living. Again... what about Lon? He was her first prey so... Ah, frack. She should heal him before he truly did die... Goddess, she wasn't used to being heroic like this, saving lives, protecting others... what was wrong with her?

Agh, whatever. Iolanthe snarled viciously at the skinwalker as a warning before she took off running towards the unicorn that lurked in the forest, determined to convince whoever it was to heal Lon. She herself didn't matter; the unicorn didn't have to heal her if it didn't want to, but Lon needed it more than she did. She would survive another day--Lon she wasn't even sure would last the few minutes it would take her to talk to the healer. So, she raced quickly, pride somewhat stung at having to let her other prey go in favor of the wounded one she was going to ask to have healed. There was definitely something wrong with her, otherwise she wouldn't have spared a second thought about leaving Lon there; still, though, her heart had stopping aching with pain and was now beating with frantic worry... and slight fear, because she wasn't supposed to feel like this for any stallion, let along a single stallion she had just met.

Hurry!

She really wished she didn't look so damn intimidating; the unicorn would probably run off just seeing her coming up on it, even though she had no intention to kill the unicorn (a first... seemed like there were a lot of firsts ever since Lon came into the picture). Whatever, Lon needed healing--and now!

The taste of metallic was awful on LON's tongue, feeling as if it burnt his very taste buds before dripping out of his mouth onto the ground. The burning sensation around his throat rose so strong he could barely make out the dragoness' form fleeing from the skin walker to pursue the unicorn. A part of him was shocked that she would abandon a fight that she was winning to play heroin for someone like he; and indeed he was none the slighter of he being classified as her first 'prey'. It was touching, and in its own special way made his own act of stupidity/heroism feel not so in vain.

Slowly a grin tugged on his ebony lips as the skin walker turned and ran, ran as fast as she could despite her injuries. The dark stallion knew this would not be the last time they'd encounter the bear walker....yet he hoped it would not be anytime soon. These lingering and fresh wounds were starting to become a major pain in his a**, that was for sure and knew their healing times would be long and agonizing....if indeed he made it past this current brush with death.

Coughing in more of a gurgled choke as blood leaked into his remaining lung; Lon laid his head back down onto the blood soaked terra and closed his eyes. His vision was too blurry to see anyways and looking at trees would do him no good in this waiting game for Iolanthe's return. It was a strange feeling to be so close to death from being immortal mere half a year prior...surely the gods were having a riot up in the heavens at his foolishness....but no matter. He had something they'd never get in their endless lives.

He'd lived....and there was nothing regretful about that.

He fled when he sighted three predators in one vicinity, for once scared for his life. However, it seemed they were fighting amongst themselves... that is, of course, until the kalona-who-breathed-fire abandoned her fight with the skinwalker to chase him down. Now he was really worried! Did she somehow spot him and was going to hunt him down for a snack? He wasn't small, but he wasn't necessarily very big, either. He was swift, though, as all pure unicorns are, and he ate up the ground as he turned into a dark-red blur. However, instinct told him to slow down and stop, waiting for the kalona. After all, kalonas couldn't withstand the holy power of a unicorn--they were the opposites of the light and dark spectrum, after all, much like the Winds and regular Soquili were opposites, or the skinwalkers and Angenis.

Knowing this, Tota'keke slowed his run, slowly becoming a solid image once more. He turned, standing his ground as the kalona mare got closer and closer. "What do you want, dark one?" he acknowledged, tensing as she approached slowly. It was only then he noticed the wounds upon her being, but as it was, he could not heal her. Kalona kind were adverse to unicorn healing magic, and his healing power would kill her if she was asking for a healing. However, he had a feeling she wasn't asking for herself--which was also odd, as Kalonas were notorious for their selfishness and viciousness. They were also arrogant and thought of themselves superior to all other races. However, he also understood there were all sorts of personalities in all breeds, so he waited.

She panted as she finally caught up to the unicorn, who had finally stopped running and stood his ground. When his piercing green eyes first met her own, she was frozen for a second as the stallion calmly asked her what she wanted. She snarled quietly as those annoying green eyes assessed her body, and she knew he was wondering if she'd been chasing him to eat--which was impossible--or to heal her--also impossible. Calming down even as smoke fled her nostrils, she glared at him in a haughty manner. "I want you to come with me to heal my companion, unicorn," she demanded. "I cannot be healed by you; you and I both know your magic would kill me. My companion, however..."

She trailed off, narrowing her eyes at the unicorn. "I will burn you to unrecognizable ashes and laugh upon your death if you do not heal him, unicorn. Come!" She turned, slightly limping and eyesight now starting to become blurry due to loss of blood. The unicorn had been astonishingly fast, and she had used most of her energy, and now the last of it was withering away as she led the unicorn back to where Lon lay on the brink of death, teetering on the edge, waiting. She growled. She was the only one who would decide his life or death--no other! As such, Iolanthe refused to acknowledge the true reason why she was pushing her limits to go so far for Lon. He amused her and kept her entertained--that was all.

Time seemed to drag by, and Iolanthe was now forced to follow her scent that trailed back to the clearing. She could no longer see, but still, she continued onward. At last, Lon's scent filled her nose, knowing the unicorn had followed her--not because he was threatened, but because it was his duty as a healer to assist all wounded creatures. She was hoping he would at least heal most of the major wounds... Lon could not die. She would hunt him into his after life if he did. Hearing Lon's harsh breathing, she approached his body and then collapsed. Her injuries had been too much, and she had expended all her energy. It was time for her to recover. Iolanthe chuckled weakly. "...S-sorry... Lon..." she managed to say with a parched throat, "...I... c-can't..." She fainted.

Tota'keke--albeit reluctantly--had followed the greviously injured purple mare back to the strange black wind--though, the black stallion did not seem either wind or kalona--but he figured that this stallion, at least, could handle his healing magic. He watched as the mare collapsed next to the pitch black stallion, and he could only wonder what caused her to go out of her way--desperately, at that--just to get him to heal this black stallion. The mare fainted after a few whispered words to the stallion, and Tota'keke approached slowly. He wasn't sure if he would be attacked--as many who were terribly hurt were prone to instinctively protect themselves--but he trusted his instincts. He scanned the wounds on the black stallion and bent his head closer.

"I am called Tota'keke, and this kalona mare brought me here to aid you," he explained, nodding in the mare's direction. "Please do not fight the healing power, no matter how much it hurts you when I begin the healing magic." With those calm, soothing words, Tota'keke's horn began to glow softly as he carefully sensed and traced all of the stallion's wounds. He had to be precise and quick but also careful, meaning he needed to have strong focus to do this. It would tire him later after healing such harsh wounds, but it would be well worth it. After all, he had seen and experienced first-hand the strange concern and worry of a kalona--and that breed cared little for others but themselves, which was why this was an interesting observation. That, and it was his duty to help anyone in trouble or in need.

Time passed slowly, the agonizing decline of his body's functions either starving of oxygen or filling with that oh so precious crimson red liquid. With his head laying motionless on the ground while blood dripped from the corner of his lips he still struggled to keep his chest rising and falling with unstable gurgles of breath; at least the scent of the skinwalker had all but disappeared from the area with its narrow escape. Iolanthe...he hoped she was alright. While he couldn't see the remaining injuries she could have acquired in the last few minutes of the fight while his vision died to a blur at best....now that she was gone he could only assume she had given it her all to chase the unicorn.

Did she make it? Or was she out there somewhere, left with her and her injuries and a dying stallion on her hooves?

Yet....what was this? Noises were approaching fast as he could feel the slight flutter in his heart in a moment of concern, dearly hoping his blood hadn't attracted anyone more unsavory than he or Iolanthe. Once her voice had reached his ears and her scent was close enough to be distinctive over the immense smell of blood; a smile cracked through his blood stained lips. "I....o.....laaaa..." He gurgled, but seemed concerned when the thud vibrated the ground around him. Craning his head despite not being able to see, he tried to shift his body to get any closer to where he deducted her to be but it was no use; he was as useless as the rocks lodged partially in the ground movement wise. Someone else was here too, as his ears twisted and flicked to try and catch the location of what smelt like male...was this the unicorn she had chased?

Listening carefully as he introduced himself as Tota'keke, the Lord of Nightmares found himself grateful for his either fear or being burned or bravery for coming back with a Kalona all to help him. He was leaning towards the latter since it didn't seem he was too afraid in the way he spoke. Nodding his head slowly at first just to show he understood, the stallion wanted to know how Iolanthe was but figured he would soon see for himself. As the healing began, he could feel the pain burn through him as veins and muscle began to attach once more, the blood dissipating slowly from his lungs as breathing began to become easier and easier. He resisted the urge to flinch, or writhe under the sensation...while he was no kalona and directly the opposing force of good healing; he was no saint and being an ex Lord of Nightmares...well it hurt like no one's business.

Once his eyes began to focus and sharpen the world around him, he quickly craned his eyes as much as he could to see Iolanthe; basked in the gentle light filtering through the canopy of leaves above. Blood pooled along the wounds of her unconscious frame and all he desired now was to be at her side, so keep this magnificent mare from harm as she did all she could to recover. The light...he knew would be a problem for him but at this point as the cold grips of death began to slip from his soul and the slow burning of the sun against his pure black body...he could care less. Such pain was minimal compared to what her body was going through right now, and as his strength began to restore he made sure that once the unicorn had moved away from his head he looked upon the one who helped save his precious mortal life.

"Thank you... Tota'keke. I am in your debt." Not that he was sure many wanted the the help of such a chaotic lord, but he was simply expressing that he was indeed grateful for his help. "What of her...is there nothing we can do?" He would insist he stop and focus on her, but he assumed even with her dragonic blood that she was still enough Kalona to ward off healing powers. At this point though...anything was worth a shot if he could think of anything to help.

Laying his head back down as he awaited for the kind unicorn to be finished with his task, his worried eyes fell back upon the peaceful Iolanthe in her wound induced slumber. She had to be alright...knowing such thoughts otherwise would drive a spike right through him if she lost her life in relation to him.
