I love gay bars... everybody's so friendly there, and there's surprisingly a lot of straight women there, too... the kind that aren't looking to hook up with anybody, so, feel "safe" there since most of the guys aren't interested in them...
Yea, there's no such thing as a truly gay bar... most I've ever seen is about 2/3rds gay, 1/3rd straight, and that was in San Francisco...

And most of the time, they're really understanding. I love having gay guy friends. They have good fashion sense and we can look at guys together. =]
