A blonde boy, of about 19 looked at the scrap of paper in his hand with a muttered curse. The ******** elf had once again convinced him to run her stupid errands...and on top of that given him the wrong directions. He ran fingers through his long hair and shifted the package in the bag on his arm. It was curiously light for a change. Zael shook his head, enough daydreaming! He had practice soon and his brothers weren't exactly pleased with him anyways. He dropped the package on the doorstep of the house that matched the address his agent had given him and rang the door bell before striding away humming softly in his deep voice.

Blood was sitting on the couch reading a magazine. The doorbell rang and slightly startled her. She looked up from her read and slipped her reading glasses off. "Wonder who that could be..." Blood walked over to the door and opened it. Seeing no one there but a man with blonde hair walking a bit further down the street from her.
She thought maybe it was just some cruel prank. "Stupid teena-- oh?" Blood had found the package sitting on the doorstep. She had nearly stepped on it. "Oh dear... wonder who this is from..." She picked up the package and carried it back into the house.
Reading some words she could se scribbled on the package. "Eamane!" She smiled and opened the gift, pulling out an orange dragon. "Oh how adorable!" She walked into the living room and placed the dragon on the table.

The sacrifice
A young girl no older then 18 walked alone along a dirt path. White snow was falling all around her and the trees were covered in a perfect blanket of white peace. There was not a sound as it was much too cold for animals and much too far away from civilization for any other humans.
She came upon a clearing in the woods and put the hood of her heavy jacket up onto her head. She looked around at the perfect blanket of untouched snow. Not even a rabbit had yet been through the snow. Blood moved her hands over her mouth and began to blow her hot breath on them to warm them up. The only other warmth she had was the warmth coming from her pocket. She reached in and pulled out a long red, yellow, and orange feather... a Phoenix feather. She held it between her hands as the fiery object gave warmth and feeling back to her hands.
She had found the beautiful feather one day in this exact field. It was strange because a Phoenix had not been seen around this area for many years. But she couldn't complain. It was beautiful and on top of that it kept her warm.
She continued walking, making a path for her to follow back through the deep snow. She slipped the feather back into her pocket and trudged along. In the distance she saw some old Ruins, and what she though might have been a glow coming off of them. She thought she mine as well go and explore... after all she had nothing better to do with her time.
As the girl moved closer to the ruins she noticed a kind of warmth coming off of them, but still it snowed and still she was cold. She hadn't found a small summer oasis waiting for her behind the ruins... but she did find something. She though she saw... yes... a foot... there was a foot poking out from behind an old ruin. "What the... Hello? Is somebody there? Are your hurt?" She dodged her way around the old broken down buildings and she found a body. It was warm, and surrounded by what seemed to be feathers. "An angel?" Blood said quietly to herself. "No..." Her hands fell to the other beings face. "Are you okay?"
The body jerked a little and before you know it, it is trying to climb onto a nearby stone slab. she dusted the snow off the stone and help the creature get to it. "Are you hurt?" Blood repeated to the messenger but all it does is point and stare towards her pocket. "Huh? You want this?" Blood reaches into her pocket and pulls out the feather. The dieing soul nods as a tear runs slowly down its face. Blood hands the feather over and the messenger smiles.
The snow around her starts to melt away and the feather glows bright and vanishes into nothing but red dust, flying around the Herald. Blood backs away slightly and watches in amazement. Slowly but surly the dust begins to form two giant wings, of red fury behind it. The air is filled with a fiery wall that doesn?t really seem to be there. The fire surrounds the both of them but leaves them both untouched. As the wall begins to fade, the surrounding area is lush with green grass and newly blossomed flowers. The Herald sits upon the stone; giant feathery Phoenix wings have formed on her back, but then fade away. The girl has formed into but a young child. Her hair is long and pure white, and trails down her back. Her eyes are of the purest blue and a silk dress falls along her body. She walks to Blood and reaches a hand toward her. A smile on her face, as the green fades back to snow, and the young girl fades away.
A few days later Blood returns to the same place. She sits beside the stone slab where she had found the dieing Herald. She wondered if she would ever see her again... but maybe not. It had only been a few hours before a light was coming off the stone. At first Blood didn't notice, but when she felt the tapping of small fingers upon her shoulder, she knew the Herald had some back.

Prompt 1
Snow whizzed around outside of the small wood cabin. Blood put the remains of her dinner in the fridge and made a cup of hot cocoa. She bundled up in a blanket, the mug of hot cocoa in her hands, flicked on the television and sat in front of the fireplace. Blood seemed strangely happy that evening. Maybe it was the thought of saving a life. The fireplace was really the only heat source she used up here. She used the furnace but kept it only high enough to keep the pipes from freezing. She sighed and watched the television pictures fly by her, but something else was on her mind. The young girl she had found earlier that day.
Blood tried hard to concentrate on the show that was on, but the thought of the girl kept her from anything else. What ifs were flashing quickly through her mind. "What if she is out there? What if she is cold? What if she is dieing again?" Fed up with the thoughts, she decided to take a quick trip to check on her. She grabbed a few sweaters, a few for herself and a few for if the Herald was there. She also took with her come hot cocoa in a thermos and a thick fuzzy blanket to wrap the child in. But... what if she wasn't even there? Then this would all just be pointless... But I suppose that's better then leaving her frozen if she is out there.
Blood headed for the door, grabbing her jacket and slipping it on, putting some mitts and a hat on and a flashlight to find her way through the woods. She opened the door and felt a strong gust of cold winter air against her face. She shifted the blanket and sweaters onto her shoulder, conveniently enough it was easier to carry and it guarded her from the wind. She trudged along the path she had made already and sighed. Holding the flashlight in front of her Blood looked around at everything. She jumped at every little noise and movement. Why was everything always so much scarier in the night?
Eventually she managed to come to the clearing in one piece. She smiled and made her way quickly through the field to the ruins. She searched around but sadly enough the girl wasn?t there. "Well this was a waste of time..." She sighed and placed the things down beside the stone, incase the girl did come back. She was turning to walk away when she was startled by a tiny hand wrapping around hers. "Oh!" Blood jumped a little and looked down to the little girl. "Oh dear!"
Blood smiled and hugged the little girl, wrapping the blanket around her and handing her the thermos or cocoa. The young girl merely looked at the big metal thing in her hands and didn't know what to do with it. Blood giggled and opened it for her, pouring her a cup of cocoa. The girl smiled and drank it slowly. When she had finished she suddenly disappeared. Blood was confused at this but a few moments later she returned with a bright yellow flower in her hand. She handed it to Blood and smiled brightly. "Why thank you..." Blood smiled to the girl. "...Shayna..." The little girl spoke the single word. "Shayna." She smiled brightly to Blood. "Hmm? Is that your name? Shayna?" The little girl nodded and smiled. She grabbed the mug and poured herself another drink and quickly gulped it down. She picked up the blanket and sweaters and had once again disappeared into nothing.
Blood smiled and walked back home. When she got there, the smile just wouldn't seem to leave her face. "Shayna??"She laughed a bit and cuddled back up in her blanket, once again flicking on the television.

Entry 1 - Date January 23 2005 - Blood.
Today was the most amazing day. I went out for a trip around the feild and i found the young girl again. She came home with me today but she only stayed a while. I let her take the dragon plushie that Eamane gave me. I promised her i would come back and see her everyday untill she was ready to come stay with me for a while. She can really speak yet, and she still stumbles a bit when she walks, but i'll teach her how to do all this stuff better. She drew me a picture today. It was so beautiful. It was of herself but she drew in the Phoenix wings she gained when I saved her. She doesnt actually have them anymore but she is starting to grow bumps on her back. She sometimes gets squirmish and always wants to itch them. It must be her wings growing in. I tell her not to touch them but she does anyways. She has been draging that dragon plushie around with her everywhere! I really think she loves it. We eill have to thank 'mane for it later on. I have been trying to figure out a name to call her... but everything i suggest she says no to... i'll just have to wait untill she can talk before i can give her a name. Well i think she wants to go back to..... wherever it is she goes at those ruins so i had better go take her. Ta ta! heart

Shayna stays the night. Stage: Fallen Messanger
A soft tapping continued at Bloods front door. Blood tossed in her bed and mumbled a soft go away. The tapping had been going for a while now but whoever it was just wouldn't quit and go away. Blood looked to her clock with half open eyes and moaned, dropping the clock back to the side table. It was 1:00 in the morning and Blood was planning to sleep in that morning.
Blood slowly crawled out of bed and staggered over to her bedroom door and slipped on her robe. She turned on some hall lights and walked to the front door, opening it a crack. She looked around and saw no one but looked down and saw the little girl staring up at her. "Oh dear."
Blood lead the girl into the house and warmed her up by a small fire she quickly made. She let it burn out on its own while she talked to the girl. "Shayna right? How did you find your way here? How did you remember?" All the girl did was lift up the soft plush dragon she got and smiled. "Well since your here you had mine as well stay." Blood yawned and lead the girl to her bedroom and showed her into bed. "This is the only bedroom I have so you'll have to share with me." Blood looked at her cuddle with the dragon and peacefully close her eyes.
Blood snuck out to the kitchen to grab a quick glass of water and took a short bathroom break before heading back to bed. When she got back Shayna looked to be asleep but Blood wasn't to sure. She picked up a book and started to read herself to sleep.
In the morning Blood was the first to wake up. It was around 11:00 am and her stomach was making an awful hunger pain. She got up and made some french toast, and not long after the wonderful aroma had filled the house, the little girl was awake and yawning as she crept into the kitchen.
"Morning Shayna! Have a good sleep?" Blood looked at her and smiled. Shayna nodded a nice yes and walked over to where Blood was frying some french toast. She looked up a little puzzled and sort of asked Blood with her eyes what the things were. "Its food. And this is a frying pan." Blood finished making some toast and gave Shayna a tiny piece. She stuck it in her mouth and almost instantly wanted more. Blood handed her the plate she had already made and fried some more for herself.
Blood looked a little confused as she ate breakfast. Why had Shayna stayed the whole night? Usually she was afraid to stay in the night.... or just for a few hours really.... another thing that was confusing her is how Shayna found her. She usually never left the ruins unless escorted, and she was usually afraid of going through the forest even with Blood there in daylight.
Shayna had finished her breakfast and sat quietly at the table. She waited for Blood to finish and copied every move she did to clean up her plate. She even helped Blood clean up the mess on the stove. After that she giggled and grabbed her stuffed dragon off the table and ran over to the fireplace.
She stuck her hand in and touched some of the ashes. Blood laughed and came over with a damp towel to wipe off her hands. "Do you want me to light a fire?" Shayna nodded and giggled once again. "Fire!" She excitedly said and waved her dragon in the air. Blood smiled to her. "That's right. Fire!" Blood started one and let Shayna cuddle up in front of it. Blood pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled the number 3 on it. "That's three words you know now. Shayna, Blood and Fire!" Blood smiled and flicked on the TV. Shayna was almost frightened of it at first but after a while she couldn't take her eyes off it, so Blood let her watch TV.
A few hours went by and it was just past 1:30. Blood saw that Shayna was ready to go so she took her back to the ruins and watched her leave once again. Blood walked back to the cabin and smiled. It had been a good night... it was Shayna's first night at Bloods house.
For the next few days Shayna would turn up earlier and earlier in the night until she was showing up at 10:00 PM and was staying later and later in the day. One day she even stayed for two nights in a row. This was making Blood extremely happy to see Shayna happy. Over time Shayna has learnt how to speak new words and Blood would take her sight seeing all the time. Blood even started teaching Shayna to read and write. Blood was very pleased with herself and very exited at the same time.

A little while later Blood comes trotting home. It was pretty warm compared to what it usually was. It was about +5 and puddles of melted snow and the dripping sound of water draining off the roof of the house was all around. As Blood got closer to the door she noticed the box sitting in front of the door.
She smiled and picked the box up and brought it into the house. She opened the letter first and smiled. "Aww how nice!" Next she opened the box and the aroma lifted from the box. She smiled as she pulled out the delicate piece of cake. She took a long sniff of the cake and smiled. "Mmm. We are going to enjoy this one!"
She carefully wrapped it and put it in the freezer for safe keeping until it was time to eat it. Blood was tempted to eat it by herself, but thought that just wouldn't be fair to dear Shayna as it was as much hers as it was Blood's. "I'm going to have to give Bunnie a welcoming gift." Blood said out loud even though no one was around to hear it.
[ Thank you Bunnie ^_^ heart ]

Shayna's first day to town. Stage: Fallen Messanger
A warm breeze picked up off the thinning layer or snow on the ground as Blood entered the feild. Patches pf green and brown grass were staring to make their way through the winter's blanket, and the first birds of spring were sarting to sing their songs. A lone cloud shifted its way slowly across the blue sky, and the sun melted away the snow. The soft dripping of water from the leaves on the trees was all around and puddles big enough to splash in were starting to form.
In the distance Blood could see the old ruins and a figure sitting atop one of the old falling down walls. As she moved closer She noticed it was just Shayna, wrapped in a long grey sweater that was draped over her white dress underneith.
Shayna started to notice Blood as she moved closer to the ruins. She stood up on the wall and walked along it, giggling and laughin while twirling a dead leaf in her hand. She jumped from stone to stone as she got closer to the ground. She squished her feet around in the softening earth below her as she ran over to Blood. "Blood, Blood!" She exclaimed happily as she waved the leaf around infront if her. She was becoming more and more like a kid every day.
Blood smiled and took Shayna by the hand and lead her back to the cabin. Along the way Shayna couldn't help herself and just had to splash a few of the bigger puddles. Her legs and the bottom of her dress were covered in mud and by the time they got back she was complaining about her legs being cold.
"Shayna... would you like a bath before we go to town?" Blood looked to the young girl from the doorway of the bathroom and smiled. "We don't want you to be full of mud when we are there silly. And the bath will warm you up.
Shayna looked to Blood with a puzzled look on her face. "T......town?" Shayna took off her sweater and walked over to the bathroom and Blood helped her take off her dress and into the bathtub. "Yes. Town. Its filled with lots of people and stores and candy and..." Blood laughed. "You'll see."
After Shayna's Bath Blood dried her off quickly and put her into some better fitting clothes. A nice red and black sweater and some jeans. The jeans made Shayna little uncomfortable and within 5 minutes she was trying to rip them off. Blood gave her a sucker to take her mind off the jeans and she shoes that Blood had just put on her and they were on their way.
About 15 minutes later they came upon one of the arches to town. Shayna looked around at all the shops, at first not noticing the crowd of people untill someone bumped into her. She stepoped back and tried to hide behind Blood to stay away from the massive amount of people that she didn't know.
Shayna whimpered and oulled on Bloods arm as Blood tried to pull her out from behind. "Shayna it's okay. they arent going to hurt you... trust me." Blood smiled and lead Shayna to an old hidded Lantern shop down an alley.
Blood smiled as the bells above the door jingled when she opened the door. Shyna came out from behind Blood, as she was more used to being around only one person she didnt know. The lady at the counter smiled at the two. "Hello ladies. Can I help you?" Blood walked up to the counter and nodded
"I ordered two japanese lanters a few days ago... they said they would be in."
"Oh right. You must be Blood?" The woman smiled
"Yes thats me." Blood signed a few sheets of paper and received the box with the two delecate lanterns in it. "These are for you Shayna." Blood opened the box and showed them to her. Shayna watched the two lanterns in amazement. "You can hang them in your room when you come to visit! But for now i'll keep them in my room."
Blood smiled and they stepped out to the street once more. Shyna pulled on Bloods sleeve and bugged her to leave. "Unnnn" Shayna grunted as a man passing by stared. "Leave... Blood...." Blood smiled and nodded down to Shayna, holding the box in her other arm.
They headed back home and hung the beautiful lanterns By the fireplace untill it was time for bed. A few hours later Blood and Shayna hung them in Bloods room and crawled back into bed. "Well Shayna... that was your first day in town!"

Tokki and Bunnie walk up to Cryting Blood and Shayna's house. They ring the doorbell but it seems that seems that no one is home again. *hee hee hee*
Tokki found a key hiding in a rock, so she opened the door and walked it. She made sure not to disturn anything since Bunnie was waiting for her outside. Tokki walked to the kitchen and then slowly put down a basket filled with roses. Bunnie and Tokki wish Crying Blood and Shayna a very berry Happy Valentine's Day!

Blood stumbled in the door, tired from the previous day. She sighed and jumped onto the couch, laying down and covering her eyes. She let out a moan and just wanted to go to bed. Seeing that it was only 5:00 she turned on the TV. She sighed once again but something had caught her eye.
She sat up on the couch and looked towards the kitchen table. something red was on the table, but she couldnt see exactly what. She sttod up and headed over to the kitchen, a smile creeping on her face.
Bunnie and Tokkie had left her a beautiful basket of red roses and a soft plush teddy bear. Blood laughed a little and placed the roses on the window sill over the sink so they had some nice sunlight.
She took the teddybear and walked into the living room, placing it nicely on the coffee table infront of the couch. The smile on her face stayed put as she surfed through the channels on the TV.

Sarielle, over her cold at last, decided to head out and deliver her welcome-home gifts at last. The sunlight was bright and harsh, but didn't seem able to warm the frozen earth. Taka, as Sarielle had come to call her, was not bothered by the temperature it seemed; she happlily clung monkey-style to Sarielle's back, in nothing but a short white dress and a thin jacket. (And even that Sarielle had trouble keeping on her.) "Aw, looks like Blood's not home," she commented to Taka, who only blinked. "Well, we can leave it outside I suppose." The note said Shayna and Blood: This is a vial of fire that supposedly never goes out. I hope that it will come in handy some time." -Sarielle (and Taka too)

Blood walked up to the doorway, carrying Shayna on her back after their day out in the forest. She sighed and put Shayna down to dig out her key form her overfilled pockets. She fumbled with the key for a few moments before finally opening the door.
She held open the door so Shayna to come in, but no one came. Blood turned back around to see Shayna crouching over a vile of flickering fire. "Blood? What this?" She pointed silently at the vile.
"Hmm?" Blood turned back out the door and picked it up, reading the letter under it. "Oh! This is from Sari and her little Herald.
"Blood? Other Herald's? Like... like me?" Blood smiled and nodded.
"Yup! There are others out there just like you!" Blood smiled and took Shayna by the hand and lead her back into the house, carrying the vile and letter in the other hand. She placed it on the counter in the kitchen as Shayna sat by the fire to warm up.

Promt 2
That evening Shayna was complaining not stop of the pain in her back. She had been itching and scratching at the two small humps on her back, and even managed to draw blood a few times from scratching to hard. She had even cried a few times. Blood had given her some Advil, and put some soothing cream on her back, bandaged her up a little so she wouldn?t scratch them, and lay her down to bed.
The next morning Blood lay in her bed; the sound of her stupid alarm clock was ringing in her ears. She reached her arm over and smacked the top of the alarm clock and kept it up till she hit the right button. She sighed and swung her legs of the edge of the bed. A knocking was coming from her door, and a small voice.
"Blood? Mama? Can I come in?" Shayna poked her head in a little bit.
"Of course dear. What is it?" Blood looked to Shayna as she walked in and smiled. Shayna climbed on the bed and sat beside Blood, holding up a red and orange feather in her hand. Blood gasped a little. ?What the?? Blood could see tiny wings poking out from under Shayna?s long hair. "Oh my gosh!!!" Blood excitedly moved the long hair out of the way.
"Mama? What is it?" Shayna looked to Blood with curious eyes.
"Well Shayna. Your new wings are growing in!!" Blood examined the beautiful small wings on the young girls back. "We really should snip off this long hair of yours." Blood said, struggling a little to keep it out of her way. Shayna's bluer then ever eyes scanned the room as Blood examined her wings.
"me see them?" Shayna complained.
"Okay okay." Blood took her over to the mirror, and put a full length mirror behind her. Shayna caught sight of her wings and gasped. She squealed and wanted badly to touch them but Blood wouldn't let her. It seemed that they weren't bothering her anymore; maybe they had stopped growing for the time being.
For the whole day Shayna had run back and forth between mirrors, looking back at her new tiny wings. She even managed to move them a tiny bit once. This caused her extreme excitement to come back. She was running around the house all day, twirling the feather around in her hand and a big smile on her face. The little angel was finally growing up!
Later that day Blood took Shayna to get her hair cut, they had come home that day with Shayna's hair above her shoulders so her wings were out in the open. The rest of the day all she could talk about were her new tiny wings.
