I'm glad to hear that. Sometimes its better to not look and then you will find exactly what you need/what you're looking for.

Mika Lockheart Candipup, it may take some time before you find the right gods for you to follow. I bounced around quite a bit myself before settling on what feels right. Just hang in there, meditate and something will clue you in. Ask the gods in general to send you a sign so that you may find them. I started Wicca when I was about 13 or 14 and at the time when I asked I knew that the Greek Pantheon was for me. I asked them, however, to send me a sign as to who I should follow. Soon after I was walking down the street and came across a quarter with an owl on it. Well ! Athena it was! Haha. You may also find as you grow that you worship or feel closer to different gods. there's nothing wrong with that either. I don't follow Athena as closely as I used to-I've grown spiritually and so on. However, my heart and soul still feels close to her alongside those that I worship now. Hope this helps at least a little bit! Thanks For Posting This, I Think It Has Helped Me As Well Ive Been Wanting To Know For A While Which Goddess I Should Worship And Which Ones Like Greek, Celtic Ect. Last Night I Asked To Give Me A Sign Of Who I Should Pray To Today I Was Walking And I Heard The Most Beautiful Bird I Have Ever Heard, Singing I Stopped And Looked In The Tree To See A Small Orange/Yellow Bird With A Black Head Singing In The Tree I Stood There For A Little While And Heard Its Song Untill I Had To Leave When I Came Back Home I Searched "Goddess Of The Birds" And The Welsh Goddess Rhiannon Came Up I Think Thats The Path That I Need To Follow

Hm... Several questions.
I have heard people talk about their patron gods and goddess... I am confused, does one simply pick and chose any kind of existing deity, for instance Zeus? Or does one create their own?
Also... Is there a certain language one casts spells in? I know about the Theban Alphabet, but I am curious as to whether there is an actual language in regards to Wicca?

I. a patron god/dess as I understand it is an deity you feel strongly connected to and pray to. In some beliefs, you would need to be initiated into the clergy of a deity, in others simply asking and accepting them is sufficient. (please feel free to extend this answer)
II. There is no specific language for spells, that I know of, though definitely it should be one you can speak well in, for instance, I speak English as my native tongue, so I use it frequently in magic, but I also took four years of Latin, so sometimes I incorporate that into my rituals as well. The "magical alphabets", as I was taught to call them, are for writing things, whether to conceal the information on the page, or as a carving to charge a candle.
I hope those answers help

1) Generally you can choose the god/dess that you feel drawn to or you feel represents you. This might change throughout your path as you grow though so keep that in mind.
2) Not particularly. Theban is used in writing spells sometimes but you have to learn to read and write it fluently for that. depends on the amount of time you want to put into it. There are several other alphabets as well which you could choose from including the angelic alphabet.
Hope this help

I'm so glad there is a thread for this! D: Now I don't feel alone in some of my confusion/misdirection.
I have read quite a bit of material on the matter of wicca, but it seems all of it failed to mention that you need to be initiated, and since much of the stuff I read was for solitary practitioners. So, for the past few years, I've always referred to myself as wiccan...
Anyway, recently, I was listening to a pagan podcast, and the host was ranting about all of the fakes for all sorts of pagan religions, and I was agreeing with him. Its so annoying to see a "wanna-be" whom lies about what they are to seem "elite" (such as a pescetarian calling themselves vegetarian... but yet they eat fish....) But found myself baffled when he got onto the subject of wiccans. Apparently you can't be a solitary wiccan, you need a coven... That's what he said. So I researched that in particular, juuusssttt in case he was a wackjob, and apparently you can't.
Now I'm confused, and don't know what I should do. I don't know what to call myself, where to go. There's no local covens, or anything of the sort, and I am feeling very very lost... Any advice?

Sakakikala Now I'm confused, and don't know what I should do. I don't know what to call myself, where to go. There's no local covens, or anything of the sort, and I am feeling very very lost... Any advice? What exactly do you practice? If it's "Wicca" a inspired path, then in general you can call yourself a Witch, Eclectic, Pagan, Neo-Pagan, or something along those lines. If you have leanings more towards one of the Reconstruction Religions - then you can always look into those as well. There are other Witchcraft Traditions outside of Wicca (as well as Recons), so Witchvox is probably still a good place to look, to see if there are any groups in your area that might be a good fit. While they might not be Wiccan specifically, many of them are still valid and rewarding paths, and well worth looking into. If you are absolutely set on Traditional Wicca, I recommend signing up for the Amber and Jet yahoo group. While they no longer have a specific "Seekers" list - it's still a great place to learn more about Wicca and they can still help you find resources in your local area in some cases.

I'll definitely look into those!(like tonight) But yeah, for the longest time, I considered myself Wiccan, BUT I got really confused with the whole coven thing. :/

There are lineaged wiccans who would say you have to have been initiated into a coven in order to be considered Wiccan. However, in my scouring the internet there seems to be this "Out court" Wiccan terminology going on which is more accepting of the title Wiccan on someone who is not a part of a lineaged coven.
Just my perceptions on that matter. :3

'Tis hard to practice considering I live in a Christian household. I try to manage, but I know that my mother will not allow any spellcasting, only things that she considers 'small' such as meditation, Etc. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? do it while your meditating maybe? i read in a book once, i think it was magic for teens, but anyhow, most teens have parent problems ect. so it said to try casting a circle when sitting down in your room or on your bed, you can say anything you need in your mind instead of out load i know the parent thing is hard, that's why my rituals are kept short in under 5 min D:

i thought i had it all figured out, i considerd myself wiccan but knew i wasnt really yet cause i simply do not have the time/privacy/place to perform spells and such
but since reading through a couple of topics here i'm starting to get confused, i hear about so many religions i dont have a clear understanding from that i do not know what to call myself anymore.
i believe in nature, i feel conected to the moon and as i heard some say it makes me feel save, i ask the moon to watch over me, i talk to animals and feel like the understnd me, for some reason dogs never bark at me or attack me though they do to other people right next to me for example. i love playing with tarot cards, i have an angels deck, mostly about angel micheal (sorry if i spelled wrong i got dislexia) and i have a gaia deck i'm saving up for a animal deck cause like i said i feel conected to animals. i burn candels a lot cause i love the fire and the feeling it gives me, i meditate as much as i can, to calm myself down or to pray to no god in particular but confinced someone is hearing me. i have a lot of crystals which i love playing with and taking care of i started to study chakra's but i had to stop cause of my traveling...
as you can see i'm confused, i wish i knw into which religion to call myself
i know i have loads to learn and i'm very willing to do so if i would just know what to learn
and i dont believe in god, to much in my life has gone wrong to believe there is a god (as in christian god)
so yeah someone... pls help me out here
