My alter's sorta non-existent at the moment for some unknown reason. It's the inside of a a small wooden trunk that looks abit like a Quaker trunk. It's in the north, under a window that never opens. For the Goddess the best thing i've found is a large-ish flat geode like thing that was dyed blue and highly polished. I'm still looking for something for the God. for earth I have a small wooden mouse. for fire I have an unlit tea candle. I can't have any water in my room, because guinea pig bedding would no doubt get int it, so I have a dolphin statue. for air I had a peacock feather, but my guinea pigs ate it, so I'm trying to find something else....

Everything has it's own story.
a)Brass incense burner given to me by my Grandmother.
b)Mortar and pestle I hand made.
c)A box that survived a fire and was almost thrown away by a silly women who couldn't see it's beautiful through the ash. She offered to buy it from my when she saw how beautiful it was after I fixed it.
d)I found that crystal wine glass in a lake. =3 It wasn't broken at all. Now I put stones and feathers and other trinkets that the fairies leave for me in it.
e)Ying Yang sticks- found them on the side of the road.
f)Crystal Stone- Found it while hiking in Colorado. g)I dug all of those stones out of the ground at an abandoned mine. Truly I did.
h)Given to me by my Uncle.
i)Given to me upon my initiation into my coven.
j)Made by me
k)found it buried in my back yard.
l)I made the ones without a purple label.
m)I helped a lady unload her truck at a Ren Fair one time and she gave my this.
n)Painted it myself using the gaelic words for the elements.

I just put together my altar today, with what I had around the house. It's not much but I suppose it'll do. It still needs a lot of work though.

That's so cool! I got something to represent the God today too, it's a little silver staue of a hound dog. I saw it in a thrift store today and something about it just called to me. I also still need something for the Goddess, I don't know what yet, I guess I'll just keep my eyes open. smile

Free Hugs! 1/100 [=well, my altar is on my dresser and no one even notices they just think its just a bunch of random stuff in the middle of my dresser i have a pic of it on the last page you should just research altars in general alot of the stuff you might just have already and there is no "right" way to do it so you can be creative [=

Blood Saga I just put together my altar today, with what I had around the house. It's not much but I suppose it'll do. It still needs a lot of work though. I fondly remember my first altar when I started out in my studies. It was fairly simple. It was mostly focused on the Goddess as I was not really sure about the God. It had an incence burner, salt, water, and candles. There was also a statue of a fairy on the moon for the Goddess. It wasn't fancy or anything. Just kept my spirituality in check. I haven't always been able to have an altar like the one I have now.

When I bought the statue of the God that I have it was the only one I had seen (and I was specifically looking for a God statue). Even the vendors at the local Pagan Pride Day agreed with me that God statues and representations are more difficult to find.

FlyingPinkElefantSaysMeow and there is no "right" way to do it so you can be creative [=
Agreed. Altars can be what you make of them. My fiance had a very simple altar for a long time. A pentacle candle and some incence were his altar and it worked fine for him.
